Reese and Mike and Lydia and those guys are getting ready for breaking and entering Christmas Wish. so we're getting ready for that that's coming up here in just a little bit today's is a heartbreaking one you know and that's the thing I think with all that we have been going through with trying to grant wishes and then of course put together our jingle ball and stuff we realize there are real world problems out there there are real you know people that are having some really tough times and this morning we're going to grant a Christmas wish for an unbelievable east side family so I want you to stick around for that That's coming up here in just a few. Plus, we'll do the phone scams. We'll do Shannon's Dirty and got a lot of giveaways.

The weekend was interesting. So I came into work on Friday. I was actually feeling a lot better and still feeling a lot better. Like every day I feel like it gets better and better. I still just have this lingering cough that is tough. And we ended up, Luke and I did a college visit, another college visit. This time we ended up going to Lexington, Kentucky, where he has been offered some scholarship money to go to the University of Kentucky. And what an interesting place that is.

Have you ever been there before?

So Chelsea's dad, her biological father, lives about 25 minutes outside of Lexington. So I have been to Lexington before, but I've never spent any time with the college campus. I've just gone and visited Chelsea's dad and that's it. Like we haven't really done any sightseeing.

Yeah.

So we did that. So we went in and visited the college campus. We ended up staying in downtown Lexington, which is kind of cool. It's actually, you know, it's the very typical college town, but it's one of those places that kind of reminds me of like our local suburbs here a little bit. It kind of has like an Ann Arbor-ish type of a feel to it. Okay, and that's a big school, right? Or an East Lansing type of a feel to it. Yeah, it's a really, it's like 55,000 plus state college. It's their big state college. So we went to the basketball game, which was pretty awesome. That was cool. We stayed at a hotel. Here, I'll start off by talking about telling you this one. So we stayed at a hotel in downtown Lexington. And I, you know, I'm not like Spike where I overly research places. I probably should be after this whole situation. What I did was I just went on to whatever the travel site was that I went to. And I just wanted to see where most people were booking and which one had decent ratings and then looked at like prices. And I saw this one that actually had it had good prices. It was pretty comparable to, you know, there's not a whole ton of hotels in that town. So we ended up staying there. We experienced the craziest thing I've ever experienced in a hotel. First off, we experienced that there's like only two people working in this entire hotel.

I mean, that's a lot of places, though.

Yeah, it was pretty crazy. But we also experienced a plumbing issue in the hotel, and I did not make this plumbing issue. Because normally I have clogged toilets. We get to the room, and Luke right away goes, I got to go to the bathroom really bad. And I go, okay. And he goes, I'm going to pee. So he goes to the bathroom. And by the way, it's unbelievable when you're 17 years old, you have like the most unbelievable stream of pee. Like I was listening to this thing from another, it was like, wow, it was just unbelievable. So he gets. He gets done peeing, and he goes to flush the toilet, and the toilet won't flush. It had one of those things on top of the toilet lid where you push the button down on the toilet lid, and it's supposed to go, and then it all go right down. Well, it wouldn't do it. So I said, well, you know, I'll come in there, and I'll flush it here in a second because I've got to pee, so don't worry about it. He goes then and washes his hands, and as he's washing his hands, he says, Dad, something weird is going on here. And I said, what's that? He's got the water running in the sink, and the sink's not going down. It's actually staying up there, like it's not going down at all. But he starts seeing that the toilet is starting to go up, and the bathtub that was there, water was starting to come into the bathtub. So there was an obvious plumbing problem that was going on with this room. So I call down to the front desk, and this is in the evening on Friday night. We got there kind of late. And I call their downstairs, and I said, hey, we got a little plumbing issue. Is there any way you can send somebody up here? And they go, yeah, he'll be here tomorrow at 10 o'clock.

And you're like, no, my room is flooding with pee water.

They said, here's what we advise. And I go, okay. And they said, we advise that if you have any issues, grab some of the cups that they have there that usually are the cups that you drink, you know, and you can scoop out and put it all into the tub. No joke. All right? OK, this is how we're we're getting, you know, we're going to work our thing. I'm I'm going to have to actually put my hand in a toilet and actually get the thing out.

Question. I'm raising my hand. Yes, go ahead. So if you want to take a shower, then you step into the tub where all the dirty water that you scoop and pee in is.

Well, here's the thing. We can't take a shower. OK, they told us they said, do you have anywhere to go in the morning? We said, no, we have to go somewhere to go to like it, like, you know, in the towards the afternoon. and they said don't worry about don't worry we'll have him up there first thing so that you can take care of the thing we're going to try to call him and see if he can come in at eight o'clock all right so that's half the functionality of the hotel room did you get a refund half the functionality that's all that's all i was thinking about functionality wise i wasn't even thinking about the tv or the bed or any of the other stuff or what if you had to poop i well that was the interesting part too was because i kept thinking to myself if we have to poop we can't you obviously can't flush it down the toilet do we have to scoop it i gotta go to the lobby and put it in yeah we're gonna have to figure something out on that whole thing but we did have to brush our teeth so we did want to do that and we do want to wash hands and things like that so every time that we would fill up the sink with water i'm not kidding you when i say this to you that toilet kept getting closer and closer to to teetering to the to the uh the top of this thing and it was at a point where by the fine finally in the morning it was at a point where i walk into the bathroom on saturday morning and thank god the sink went down the tub went down and the toilet went down so there was somehow during the night somebody opened up something i don't know if it was in another room or whatever like there was some kind of a thing that was going on there where and i said to him i go can we change is there any way you can change rooms they sold out the whole hotel okay that was the next question yeah it was it was crazy it was an old it was like an older hotel too it was like an older hotel that had been not been a hotel like it was one of those places like you ever see this how these hotels will do this sometimes where they'll like take an old bank or whatever and they'll turn it into a hotel or they'll take an old office building yeah it's kind of neat it was it was actually uh i'll be be perfectly honest with you do you want me to say what the name of the hotel was sure i don't know 21c something like that okay i don't know it's like a chain i guess they they had they had another i was like looking for other hotels to go to and the problem was it's a college town and there was a college basketball game that weekend so there weren't a lot of uh vacancies in the end so to speak yeah i felt like you know what i felt like i felt like the lord and baby jesus and uh the manger it was the manger scene with luke and i trying to look for a place to lay our heads well you're like the people that

that try to save money and save water and don't flush until they poop.

Oh, my God.

We've talked to people like that before, that their grandma or their moms, everybody can pee, pee, pee, pee, pee, and it isn't until somebody poops in that toilet that you actually flush.

I can't smell good. I hear there's a lot of these people that are very green, and they're conserving water and stuff. I don't know how you do it, because the entire night, all I kept thinking to myself was, this is going we're going to like wake up to a flooded room like it's going to like it's going to rise yeah because i kept thinking to myself if our toilet sink and bathtub are affected plumbing wise by this why would it not be that the neighbors in the room to the right of us and to the left of us wouldn't have the same exact issues right that would affect our plumbing too right so that's why i kept thinking i'm like going oh please that person in that room next door to us starts going to the bathroom Thank you. and I start hearing a flushing and stuff, I'm running to the I had, I said, pick up everything off the ground. Like, I literally had everything off the ground and, like, put our bags up and all of our

stuff off. I have flooded a hotel room before. Did you really? Yeah. Actually, twice. Once, me, I was having a little bathroom issue, and then more recently, the kids, someone used way too much toilet paper, and it was just all over. And it is so embarrassing when you're standing there and, like, the dude comes up. Pooped my pants? Yeah, I didn't poop my pants the plumber comes in and you're just standing there watching him like work and he's looking at you like you did you that came out of you you little thing but i mean you know what he

thought what he didn't think that it came out of the your children he thought this lady is putting

the blame on absolutely her children absolutely the duty being there but um the next day this

guy came by the way people in kentucky have a very interesting accent it's not a southern accent It's kind of like a mountain-y southern accent. It's like really, it's like, you know, we had a taxi driver, his name was Elvis, and he was like, y'all are coming to my town. Yes. They all kind of sounded like Hank Hill, you know, it's kind of like.

So when I went to Butler University for college, and so when I was in Indianapolis, a lot of times we would go to Louisville for like a weekend if we wanted to like do some fun or whatever, and I noticed that. It's not like a true southern drawl.

The nicest people in the world. Yep. We had such a great time, though, aside from that, aside from our first evening. But it was really nice and a beautiful, beautiful college campus. Oh, geez. So did it get down into the room below you? Like, did you have any problems at all with that?

I know when we walked down the stairs that there were people underneath us that had their door open and they had housekeeping there, too. So I'm not 100 percent sure.

You know what's amazing is that we ruin hotel rooms with our duties. You ruin them by actually having a little bacon cookie action. That's like a boss man of you.

Yeah, it was impressive when you go back and call your friend. Good for you, yeah. It was so hilarious.

So we received a bunch of letters about this, this, uh, beautiful family and about this young man who his life was taken too soon. Um, imagine being parents of a 12 year old and losing your 12 year old son.

And this morning's Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish is just going to try to bring a little bit of hope back to this family's life, knowing how much of a struggle that this has to be for them. To lose somebody as young as 12 years old, but to lose them just before Christmas has got to be just brutal. So, Kim, get the letter ready. How are you guys? We're sorry to call you so early, but we do a thing called Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish. And we receive letters every single year about special families in our listening area.

Uh-huh.

And we received countless amount of letters about you guys.

Oh, my gosh.

And one of those letters we picked up because I started recognizing some of the names that were in this letter. And I want to have you just listen to them. They're going to read it to you, okay?

Okay. Dear Mojo in the morning, my name is Kim Jita. on behalf of myself and Jason Gendro, we would like to nominate the DeBoard family for Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish. This family suffered the loss of their oldest son, Anthony. He was just 12 years old. He was sick for over a week with what they now know was parainfluenza 1, which is a strand of the flu. He went to urgent care for shortness of breath. He was treated with a nebulizer, inhaler, and steroids. Shortly after returning home, he suffered an acute and catastrophic asthmatic attack, likely flared by this flu virus. Anthony collapsed and was immediately given CPR by his father. He went into respiratory arrest, then cardiac arrest. Anthony was put on life support for days to come. His mom and dad, Carla and Tyler, faced unimaginable decisions, decisions no parent should have to make. Anthony was called home on November 4th of this year. His organs were donated to Gift of Life. Anthony truly saved other children's lives. His family's purpose now is to give back to the community and the world that has so graciously walked with them. Thank you for considering such a wonderful family during such a horrible time for them. Oh, and by the way, Mojo, Anthony's favorite holiday was Christmas, so this would be so fitting. Tyler and Carla, can you tell our listeners and all of us about Anthony? Tell us what kind of a young man was this unbelievably beautiful boy.

Yeah, he, I mean, you know, for 12 years old, he just lived such a fulfilled life. And he was, you know, he went every day to the fullest and just, you know, I have a kid special, but I mean, he was, he was like really, really special to us and he meant the world to us and he loved baseball, he loved sports, he loved school. Like, he just, he lived every day to the fullest. And we just, you know, we miss him terribly, obviously.

I'm going to tell you, he touched so many lives because we know this with all the letters that were sent to us and just the different people that were sending him, even kids his own age that were writing letters, wanting to grant a wish for you guys. I mean, it's hard enough getting a 12-year-old to do their homework, let alone right to a radio station. You know what I mean?

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he just had such an impact on so many people. I was just a 12-year-old, you know. He just, he was just so, I don't know. I mean, I don't care.

Yeah, he just, I don't know what you call them, aren't you? on this earth and um just the way he's brought so many people together in the i don't know

with this tragedy it's like um that's just what his purpose in life was he was always bringing people together and looking out for others and well he's he's bringing people together this

morning because we have a ton of people that are outside of your home at this very moment

yeah whether you want them to be or not they're there that's why we call this breaking entering

Christmas wish. We know being an 8-year-old and all the things that are cool to buy for 8-year-olds, we got for them.

So we made sure lots of squish mellows, mom and dad are coming in.

We also understand that baseball is still a love and a passion for your entire family. So we made sure that that was a passion that everybody was going to get to enjoy. So we provided a whole bunch of really cool baseball stuff. And we also provided some really cool experience stuff for you guys. We knew that Tyler was such a or Anthony was such a fan of the Tigers that we reached out and we ended up getting tickets so that you guys could go and see the Tigers play against the Boston Red Sox on April the 8th. with a special message on the scoreboard in memory of Anthony for the DeBoard family.

That'll be a great day. And we took care of everything, parking, food, tickets. So you are totally covered there.

Anthony's name is going to be in on that scoreboard because we knew that that one dream of his was that he wanted to play for the Tigers one day.

OK, they've got like everything you could possibly imagine. The menu's great. Well, she said she was left offended by an employee at the drive-thru window. She is back on Instagram. And that's where she was telling the story about what happened to her. She said she was driving around. She was crying in her car. And she realized she hadn't eaten all day. Sees a sign for Jack in the Box. And she's like, OK, I'm going to go there. Ordered a double cheeseburger and a shake. but was left very angry after the quote-unquote big man at the effing window offered her pity. Her words, not mine. Here's part of what she wrote. It says, it's gonna be okay. What the eff did he just say? He doesn't know me. And I sure as hell don't know his ass. So why did he say that? It's all gonna be okay. I was offended. F you, stupid man, at Jack in the Box. You don't know me. You're not my blood. So go eff yourself. So this nice man's words clearly did not go over well with Britney. But the majority of the comments on her post were from fans defending this Jack in the Box employee saying, wait a second, what a kind heart. He saw that you were crying. He was concerned for you. You know, this is genuine one human concerned for another. And those comments had like 17,000 likes on them. But Britney Spears was just not having his niceness at all. Maybe she was just having a day.

I never had an inhaler before, but my- You got a fancy red one. Dr. Werner gave it to me because he said that he wanted to make sure that my lungs were doing okay. Yeah. Yeah. It's funny. We have been all kind of taking care of ourselves, but now everything's going around. And the problem is, too, is we all wore masks for like the last couple of years. And everybody's now getting the flu and a virus and RSV and, you know.

Yeah. Wednesday was the, I mean, I felt so terrible on Wednesday after the show. And you know this, every year Lucy and I have this tradition of taking a mom-daughter girls trip to New York City. And we've done it since she was four years old. And it is so incredibly special to me. It's so important to her. This year especially, I think just with a lot of changes happening, you know, in her life and within our family, I really wanted that quality time away with her. And, of course, I get so super sick. And so I said to her, Lou, I don't think I can do it. I don't think I can go away for a weekend when I'm feeling this bad.

Did that not go over well?

It didn't go over well. But then as the day went on and I think she saw how sick I was, she understood. And I said, Mom is going to do everything she can to feel better and see if we can get on this plane tomorrow afternoon. And so I called her buddy, Dr. Werner, and I got on antibiotics, and I got on some steroids. And I took all the things But I still just really did not feel well But I was talking to my sister about it And she's like, this is what we do as parents We carry on even when we're feeling like crap for our children Like that's what you do You just push through So it was a very different trip than we normally take There was lots of staying in bed And lots of room service

So you flew to New York City and stayed in a hotel room?

Stayed in the whole first day I was in the room. Yep. Couldn't even get out of bed. Felt better every day that I was there. But still, like, even by the second day, we were back in the room in pajamas by 7 o'clock. Yeah. And then the reason that we go is because I love Broadway and she loves Broadway. And so we always make it a point to see a Broadway show. And so we did that on Saturday. And the entire second act, the two of us were with our heads put together. I was out.

the a really gross cough yeah like where you're like where it sounds like stuff is rattling in

your chest i i got the cough with mine and i also um we had a school visit for uh uh for luke and talk about worst timing on that your worst timing with your daughter going on this trip to New York my worst timing taking them on a college visit to go look at a college and then the worst timing is you're coughing and hacking in the back of probably a play right or something that you went to? Yes. And for me we're on the tour and we're walking

So I've been doing that because you have to get it out, right? You're not supposed to swallow it. And so Wes was over last night. I haven't seen him since Jingle Ball. And so he came over last night and I did that mid-conversation and spit it in the trash can. And he looked at me like I was a troll. He was like, what did you just do? And I'm like, well, you have to get it out. And he's like, well, right in front of me, you just spit it. He goes, what about the sink? It doesn't even matter. Just get it out.

You know, this is like the worst timing to get sick for us because of the holidays are so important with our breaking under Christmas wish and then our jingle balls and all that stuff. But it reminds me of I got so sick before our wedding.

I don't know if I ever shared this story with you that the night like for our wedding, my My dad and myself both got so sick. We both had the worst diarrhea for our wedding when Chelsea and I got married. It was like the worst. Our stomachs were bad. Everything was bad. It was like awful.

And not to be, like, too detailed, but they went through her nose. So, this surgery, the recovery has been much better than the first surgery.

Wow, nice. That is incredible. And she is recovering okay, and there's promise with this surgery?

Yes, she is recovering well. I mean, it was an eight-hour surgery, so it's still a major surgery. And there's a lot of, like, not damage, but, you know, it's susceptible going through your nose like that. So they're still worried about that part. But the overall recovery is better. She's real tired. That's, you know, to be expected. And he felt like, the surgeons felt like they got a lot of the tumor. Not all, but a lot.

Wow. That is incredible news. We want you to know that we're continuing to keep you and Ellie and the entire family in our prayers. I don't know if you saw this. Dave Chappelle did a stand-up show in San Francisco last night. Ended with a big surprise and a lot of boos from the crowd after he invited Elon Musk up to the stage. So the Chase Center hosted the final night of Chappelle and Chris Rock's two-night stop in the Bay Area. And just as Dave Chappelle was about to tell the sold-out crowd goodnight, he calls Elon Musk up to the stage. And so lots of boos, some cheers, to be fair.

See, I thought it was interesting. I thought I heard a lot of cheers. It depends on where you were sitting. And then I heard boos. But Dave Chappelle pointed out that all the boos were coming from the upper level and all the cheers were coming from the lower level. Isn't that funny?

Well, it was kind of awkward because Elon Musk, excuse me, just stood there for a minute with like this big grin on his face. But nonetheless, he was there. Very mixed reaction to him being on stage. Adele said she required lots and lots of therapy after splitting from her ex-husband back in 2019. Made that reveal while performing during her Vegas residency over the weekend, telling the audience, I started doing therapy again because I went a few years without. I needed to start. Before, when I was going through my divorce, I was basically doing five therapy sessions a day. I love my therapist, Karen. I don't want to see her five times a day, okay? I love you, Karen, by the way, if you're listening. She said she started going back to therapy in an effort to hold herself accountable for the things that she said she wanted to do. And she admitted that performing not only terrifies her, but fills her with dread. And that's something else that she has to bring in front of her therapist. And she said that's why she's not a big touring artist, by the way. She said this before. She did a big tour to prove to people and to herself that she could do it. But now these more intimate shows like The Residency in Vegas, she said this is what she wants to do for the rest of her life. And lastly, Snoop Dogg says he cannot legally call his new cereal brand Snoop Loops. If you remember, he originally launched this gluten-free marshmallow-filled cereal with Master Pete back in August. However, he was recently told he can't use the Snoop Loops name. And he wasn't sharing who told him he wasn't allowed to use the name. I'm assuming it's from Kellogg's because they make Froot Loops.

So he has to rename it, and I don't know what he's going to rename it. But it's all for a good cause, too. A portion of each box's profits go to charity.

Why didn't he look into that ahead of time and do it with the Kellogg's people? That would have been a great collab that they could do together.

My Christmas tree isn't the only thing getting lit this year

Mojo in the Morning I always feel like the holidays spur on emotions and it gets to be one of those times where sometimes things that you don't think are going to affect you affect you. And this morning when KP, our producer, was telling us her story about her friend, she just started crying in the studio.

I don't know what it is. Maybe I should be anticipating this flow or something, but I've got a little bit emotional this morning.

You did. So first off, real quick, Um, your friend, one of your best buddies in the world, went to college together, right? At OU?

Yeah. So I went to Oakland University and I joined a sorority right away just because I wanted to be social. And plus my mom was in a sorority when she went to Oakland. My dad was in a fraternity. Um, and I met Rachel, um, right off the bat. She was just, she's just a magnet for people. I love her. I honestly wish I could have brought her in here so everyone could meet her because she's just like, she just walks in the room and you just want to be your friend. and she can make conversation with anybody.

And you wish you could have. Why? What happened?

I feel like I could still get her up here, but she moved to Boca Raton yesterday. So I'd been anticipating this for a couple months. I knew about it. I've been with her through this entire time meeting this guy that she met. This is what I'm saying about she can make friends with anyone wherever she goes. She went on vacation to Miami and met a guy in Miami who is in his 30s, um or actually no it's about to be in his 30s and they they hit it off right away and they literally fell in love like they just she she had been in conversation with him texting back and forth for months and it turned into something really serious and this guy is just like he's just the real deal he's this he's the sweetest guy i met him in person he's he's wonderful like he's not you know just some guy that she just met this is a real deal and it's kind of hard for me to wrap my brain around because we were just in college together and we she was getting over a guy that she'd been dating for like five years and whatnot anyway it's just so tough and i feel like this is a topic that is really difficult for people graduating college who are still trying to find their way in life and all of their old friends are kind of moving on moving to new places new jobs new cities new significant others some people are getting engaged or married and it's kind of a weird place for those who don't have that happening oh okay okay now i see

where it's going here i'm saying so you so your friend is moving to florida well she does moved it's just moved just moved to florida and you uh are sad that she is leaving

or are you sad that you're that you're staying she's leaving because i'm gonna miss her so so much we spent every minute together really like last last year let's was really tough for both of us we had just she had just uh broke up with her boyfriend of almost i think four years i broke up with my boyfriend almost five years and then i was going through a hard time with a different relationship so we had been through going through she was your ride or die she was my ride or die

and you've had a lot of change lately i mean just moving and starting a new job here it's been a lot

it was so hard so back in january i moved to traverse city to right host a morning show literally had never touched a microphone in my life and i was going up there i'm like wow am i really moving up north to go be on a morning show and she was you know she was sad because i mean i'm her other half i'm leaving and i i came home and then i find out that she's leaving yeah so it's just it's so hard well when people move on and change happens and you just got to realize you know your our entire life people are going to be leaving and moving and doing things and

nothing's going to be constant it's just really tough you guys have a goodbye party for her um

She actually had a couple different goodbye parties, but I got really sick, so I couldn't go. Oh, crap. And you missed that. I did. And I have a gift. We've been trying to meet up to ... I have a gift for her, a going away gift. I'm just going to mail it to her instead, but ...

She's moving to Boca Raton.

Oh, no. Wait, so is she marrying this guy?

I think she will. Is she moving in with him? They're moving in together. Okay.

Boca Raton seems like it's too old of a place for her to go.

Here's the best part. You get to talk to her all night long, because she'll be done with dinner at 6 p.m.

Right after naptime. The streets close early in a place like Boca Raton, Florida. It's a bunch of old retirees, isn't it?

Well, I don't know about the demographic, but I do know that this guy is, like, really well off.

Does he have a friend?

I know, right? Wait a second. Hold on. Wait. What? Forget. This, why are we getting emotional with KP here? Why are we worried about her?

She doesn't. You have a Florida boyfriend now.

You got the old Jedster. By the way, what's the story with you and... Hey, this is perfect. Stop for a second. Dad wasn't here the day after Jingle Ball because Dad was home sick. And Dad did not understand what was going on until I listened. I'm Dad. Yes. Dad missed a walk of shame of both of them into the radio station together, okay? So listen to this. I get Joe calling me up going, Dad, I filled in for you. I did the best I could. If you want to listen to it, listen to it. So I go, okay, cool, no problem. So over the course of a couple of days, I listened back to the show on Wednesday, and I almost had a freaking heart attack when I heard that KP spent the night in Jed's room with him. Oh, Lord almighty. Good lord, KP

You know what, I had a heart attack when you got sick And I had to handle Joe hosting the show And planning the whole show Oh, so that's the reason why you spent with Jed You needed somebody to console you Yes, so Jed, he asked me to go to the casino with him And I was peer pressured I was peer pressured I was like, okay, Joe's only in town for just a little bit So I'll go with that

That's what you do as a responsible producer Who has to come in the next morning when your host is sick Like, you go and stay out all night at a casino.

Mojo, if I'd gone to bed, I wouldn't have woken up. I think it was more responsible to have pulled an all-nighter. That's exactly what we did.

And so you ended up staying. So can I tell you what Joe then? I called Joe over the weekend. Because I said to him, I go, hey, first off, you did a great job filling in. I was very proud of him. But I also wanted to know about this whole Jed and KP thing. And he said to me, he goes, dad, it was the funniest thing. He goes, I called Jed that morning to say, hey, man, we'll meet downstairs at the lobby, and he goes, you're not downstairs right now, are you? And he goes, no, no, no, I'm up in the room. He goes, oh, good. And he goes, I realized something. He was sneaking KP out of the room so that she could leave and then get to the station before we got to the station. And then we showed up at the station, and he was like, yeah. He's like, I thought to myself, this is, like, really responsible of her. She got there early. She had everything all set up for us, only to find out she only had got there like two minutes before we got there and she had spent the night with him so i'm like holy cow wait so what's what's the status update the status um jed asked

me if i had any time off coming up recently because um because he would like to see me again i just uh i'm not sure i i would like to i just uh i'm not sure wait is he coming here are you gonna go there well he wants me to come down there because it's nice down there for yeah and you're thinking about it i was thinking about it yeah but we'll see i don't know so did anything happen that night no i've said this 800 million billion times no nothing happened the only reason i stayed with jed was because if i had driven all the way home it would have taken me 50 minutes to get home and 50 minutes to get back and that would give me 30 minutes in between before the show

She thinks both of you guys are good At our dinner last week I didn't egg on crap Yes you did, you said You know who I think you'd be really good with Jet. I did? You said that. I personally think that if you date somebody, their friend group only sees you as the girl that you dated. And I like Joe, Jed, and Ashley. I would like to be their friends. I don't want to be Jed's girlfriend. interesting i don't know and would you give up love for work um you know i feel like love that comes at any point in your life so if we jet is actually the guy for me that will happen in due time i'm not gonna mess up what i got here you know yeah and especially with oh god when i saw tony the next morning he goes did you actually stay in jett's hotel and that that was it that was the coffin the nail in the coffin i'm like nope this is not happening he only asked you that

He only asked you that because they were paying per person in each room. Oh, really? He didn't want to have to get charged a little extra for that whole thing. No, I don't know. All right, so listen. So here's the deal with your friend. Let's go back to this. Let's circle back to that.

So the Joe Show with Joe and Ashley and Jed, you can listen to them afternoons on our station. And, of course, they're on mornings on iHeartRadio's 93.3 FLZ. So after our big party that we had at Little Caesars Arena, it got fancy. Did you guys know that they had a green room set up for the people that work on the station? It was, like, amazing. Like, they had a, well, yeah, what? You were there. There was a place where we were eating in. Oh. What did you think?

I don't know.

I pictured there. You were, like, Snoop Dogg's green room.

I didn't eat any of that food.

You didn't eat anything?

I saw it for a second. Yeah. Okay.

So, let me tell you this story. So, they had, it was, like, really fancy. Yes. I heard National put this thing together and they do it like really top-notch and it's pretty crazy how they do it So they had like dressing rooms set up for everybody. They had this room that was set up where they would provide you

with food, so it was really nice. You didn't have to go to concessions, because I thought I was going to have to go to the concession stand, which I'm fine with, but I was like, holy crap, they actually had a buffet set up for you to sit there and eat. Big buffet. And so, what they had on there was beef tenderloin, these unbelievably really buttery mashed potatoes, veggies, a salad bar, all this stuff. It was unbelievable.

I'm so pissed I didn't eat.

Well, you should then hit up Ashley, because here's the story. Do you guys know somebody that when they go out they always take home to-go boxes and sometimes they'll take home to-go boxes to a point where the people have to wrap up everything like even rolls that are like the free rolls or the free chips and salsa that they give you like a Mexican restaurant so they were you know putting this spread on for us and at the end they were starting to take things away because once the show started they were getting rid of the food and just putting out desserts and things like that they figured everybody had pretty much eaten by that point well ashley nicks who works with my son joe when she saw them taking the food away went up and asked the little caesars arena people for to-go boxes because she wanted them to wrap food up so she could take it back to her

hotel right good for her because you know what they're gonna do with that food throw it away

right exactly i am proud of her so she's asking for all this food so i gave joe some crap and i said to him, I go, I go, what is the story with this? Do you guys not pay your co-host enough money that she's wrapping up all this food? And he goes, dad, you would not believe her. They go on client calls sometimes. And when they go on these client calls, Ashley Nix will ask if the client's not eating all their food, if she could take it home and wrap it up, she actually will ask the client to wrap up their food. And the clients find it endearing and find kind of cute that they do that. Hold on, let me dial up. I love it. Isn't that funny?

This is like going out to dinner with my dad, by the way. There is not a corner of a chip that is left if that man is out to dinner with you.

And to kind of show her, you know, that daddy is goofy and silly and tells jokes that she can't hear on the radio, but we also do stuff like this is why I love this and why I love bringing her to stuff like this.

Well, this morning's wish, you know, here you are, our family. You're preparing for the holidays. It's November, and your son gets sick with what we're all getting sick with right now, right? Influenza. And he's 12 years old, and he ends up dying because of this. We granted a Christmas wish for them. Victor, thank you to you, and thank you to your wonderful family for that. Thank you. We appreciate that. How are you guys? We're sorry to call you so early, but we do a thing called Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish, and we receive letters every single year about special families in our listening area.

Uh-huh.

And we received countless amount of letters about you guys.

Oh, my gosh.

And one of those letters we picked up because I started recognizing some of the names that were in this letter. And I want to have you just listen to them. They're going to read it to you, okay?

Okay. Dear Mojo in the morning, my name is Kim Jita. On behalf of myself and Jason Gendro, we would like to nominate the DeBoard family for Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish. This family suffered the loss of their oldest son, Anthony. He was just 12 years old. He was sick for over a week with what they now know was parainfluenza 1, which is a strand of the flu. He went to urgent care for shortness of breath. He was treated with a nebulizer, inhaler, and steroids. Shortly after returning home, he suffered an acute and catastrophic asthmatic attack, likely flared by this flu virus. Anthony collapsed and was immediately given CPR by his father. He went into respiratory arrest, then cardiac arrest. Anthony was put on life support for days to come. His mom and dad, Carla and Tyler, faced unimaginable decisions, decisions no parent should have to make. Anthony was called home on November 4th of this year. His organs were donated to Gift of Life. Anthony truly saved other children's lives. His family's purpose now is to give back to the community and the world that has so graciously walked with them. Thank you for considering such a wonderful family during such a horrible time for them. Oh, and by the way, Mojo, Anthony's favorite holiday was Christmas, so this would be so fitting. people's lives right yeah yeah yeah yeah Tyler and Carla can you tell our listeners and all of us about Anthony tell us what kind of a young man was this this unbelievably beautiful boy

yeah he um i mean you know for 12 years old he just lived such a fulfilled life and he was you know he went every day to the fullest and um just you know i have a kid special but i mean he was he was like really really special to us and He meant the world to us, and he loved baseball, he loved sports, he loved school. Like, he just lived every day to the fullest, and we just, you know, we miss him terribly, obviously.

Yeah. I'm going to tell you, he touched so many lives because we know this with all the letters that were sent to us and just the different people that were sending him, even kids his own age that were writing letters. Wanting to grant a wish for you guys. I mean, it's hard enough getting a 12-year-old to do their homework, let alone write to a radio station. You know what I mean?

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he just had such an impact on so many people. Just a 12-year-old, you know, he just, he was just so, I don't know.

I mean, I had, I don't, do you, yeah, he just, I don't know, we call him our angel on this earth, and just the way he's brought so many people together.

with this tragedy it's like um that's just what his purpose in life was he was always bringing people together and looking out for others and well he's he's bringing people together this

morning because we have a ton of people that are outside of your home at this very moment

yeah whether you want them to be or not they're there that's why we call this breaking entering

And all the things that are cool to buy for 8-year-olds, we got for them. So we made sure.

Lots of Squishmallows, Mom and Dad, okay, are coming in.

We also understand that baseball is still a love and a passion for your entire family. So we made sure that that was a passion that everybody was going to get to enjoy. So we provided a whole bunch of really cool baseball stuff. And we also provided some really cool experience stuff for you guys. We knew that Tyler was such a or Anthony was such a fan of the Tigers that we reached out and we ended up getting tickets so that you guys could go and see the Tigers play against the Boston Red Sox on April the 8th. with a special message on the scoreboard in memory of Anthony for the DeBoard family.

That'll be a great day. And we took care of everything, parking, food, tickets. So you are totally covered there.

Anthony's name is going to be in on that scoreboard because we knew that that one dream of his was that he wanted to play for the Tigers one day.

We know. We're like, oh, my God.

right now sent to us on text messages from listeners that are saying that they want to

Okay, listen. I'm going to be the other side. So my very best friend that I've known my entire life, all through my teenage years, I dated a guy that we knew mutually. And once I got into college, I decided that I wanted to do my own thing. I broke this poor boy's heart, okay? Several years later, I ran into my friend, and she was pregnant. Turned out they got married. And you guys, they have five beautiful children together and the best marriage, and I'm so happy for them. So it's not always a bad thing. Like sometimes things don't work out between two people, and that's okay. But that doesn't mean that it won't work out in another relationship. He wasn't good for me, but he's great for her. So you've got to look at it that way, too.
