Do you guys know people that will not accept a gift no matter what? Like, you try to do something for them, and when you try to do something for them, all they do is cause you more grief. And at the beginning, you're doing it out of the goodness of your heart, and then by the end of the whole thing, all you want to do is punch them in the face?

Oh, good question. Did that person warn me ahead of time? No, but that person will not accept gifts from anybody. That person is Lydia, our producer. Lydia will never accept without a fight me buying her Starbucks for her because I don't know if you guys know this. I can't find a Starbucks open in Oakland County anywhere near my house at the wee hours of the morning they're all they're all closed until 5 30 or 6 o'clock in the morning and i have to be down here at the studios by 5 15

520 at the latest that's my new goal with the studio and lydia's got a starbucks that's off of hall road right by the uh you know the selfridge military base there that's open at like four o'clock in the morning so either this is something for the starbucks people or this is something for lydia but i have to fight with her over 28 000 text messages to say hey you drive i buy you also

I stopped calling Mojo to ask him to pick up my Starbucks because he would like never let me buy it. So then I just like door dash it instead of having him pick it up. I actually pay more for my coffee. So you don't pay for my coffee. Here's the thing. Do you know that I would buy it for you

if there was one open in Oakland County, Starbucks?

I can't, I don't pass a gas station anymore. I don't pass a Starbucks that's open. I know. It is very, very difficult to get energy in the morning around here.

Megan, seriously, this is no joke. I thought I was going to love this whole idea of us working down here in this Eastern Market area. It changed my routine so badly. I want to go back to Nova and be by that cab at Starbucks.

Well, I do miss that specific Starbucks. I will give you that. But I can't find Red Bulls downtown. I don't know what it is about all the convenience stores. I cannot find them. And I still have to leave to go get groceries. Other than that, this is the best thing that has ever happened to me. But how am I later now living five minutes away than I ever was living 45 minutes away? I can pick you up, Red Bull, on my way.

That helps. Seriously.

It's crazy. You know what the funny thing is, too?

But the Starbucks really throws me off.

I don't pass money. So you're saying, right?

Yeah. And I used to, although the Starbucks that I used to pass for the old studio, Sometimes they would be open at five. Sometimes the drive-thru lady would be like, oh, we don't open until six. And I'm like, but last week you were open at five. I'm so confused.

I just got this thing. I don't know if you saw it. If you guys are on the Starbucks app, you'll get this. Where you can see what kind of a customer you are at Starbucks and what your actual spend was. This is not good. First off, three cheers to my top drink was a Starbucks cold brew coffee.

Oh, shock.

The second one, Chelsea's Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew. And then the third, Lydia's and Megan's Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso. Okay?

Because hot girls have what, Lydia? IBS. That's what I've been. We don't get milk. No, no.

My number one snack are the sous-vide egg white bites.

Is that what it is? Sous-vide? I don't know. I don't even know what it is.

I was trying to think of what you were talking about, but I'm like, it's sous-vide.

The egg white bites. And then this is what it showed up here. This is actually kind of funny. It says I'm an early bird because I got there very early. I would get there early. It says I use the app 9 out of 10 times. It says I've visited 34 stores in 25 cities. Oh, wow. Is that unbelievable? My favorite store is 12 Mile and Cabot there. And then this was the part that got me. Starbucks Rewards members. I've been to one since 2013. I have redeemed more than 90 or 9,100 stars. And I am in the top 0.4% of star earners.

Where does it say all this? I want to know.

I'll send you the link. The biggest addict I know for Starbucks. You know what that just tells me, though, is you don't offer to get me Starbucks enough because my drink was no money.

But I use them as fast as I possibly can get them. But I get, you know what, you want to think that I'm crazy with this one? I have this. Misfit Victor has more than, I think it's 700,000 McDonald's points on his McDonald's app.

You know what drives me? Oh, sorry.

There's a Starbucks that's staffed when I drive past it every morning, right by Campus Martius. It's staffed right across from Dan Gilbert. Is Dan Gilbert's building Campus One, Martius? Yes. Okay. One campus. So it's like, okay. It's right there. And I see the employees standing there, but you cannot order and you cannot go in. It is not open. Lights are on. People are there, but you cannot order.

By the way, people have told me that over the years with me. The lights are on, but nobody's there. You know what's funny is that I never thought that Starbucks people get to work that early in the morning. I always thought that they just showed up and boom, here we go.

I think they have to prep, right?

Yeah. I don't know, but this is starting.

So there is a Starbucks that's open at 5 a.m. And you might have to go a little bit out of your way, but it's right by Beaumont Hospital on Woodward. Marnie, that's like way out of my way.

Well, because it's always backed up onto Woodward. And so if I'm not paying attention, I swear I always get in, almost get into an accident right there because the cars, it's like 10 cars lined up on Woodward to even go through the drive-thru.

Oh, it's nuts. It's so dangerous. Yeah. It is. That would be a great one to go to for me, but that would be 30 minutes out of my way to go get it.

Yeah, but then you could just shoot straight down Woodward to, you know, the new station.

I know. I get it. It would be easy to shoot down there, but I'm coming off of Northwestern Highway in the Lodge. So it's a little bit, it's a little further, but thank you for the, the help though. What's up, Amy?

Hey, Megan, you know, you can go to a, like a local gas station, just go and ask them to order a case of Red Bull for you.

So I, that's interesting. If you know somebody who would actually do this, I've gone to two gas stations and asked for either their supplier information, cause they're so hard to buy in bulk or for them to order me some. And, um, nobody would do it for me. I've, I've personally asked before.

grand jury has indicted Luigi Mangione on terrorism charges related to the December 4th killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, terrorism charges. And they elected to indict him on second degree murder charges as a crime of terrorism because he had intended absolutely to influence the policy of a unit of government by intimidation or coercion. Sorry, that was like a mouthful for me today. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg speaking about this last night.

Luigi Mangione, the defendant, is charged with one count of murder in the first degree and two counts of murder in the second degree, including one count of murder in the second degree as an act of terrorism. for the brazen, targeted, and premeditated shooting of Brian Thompson, who, as you know, was the CEO of UnitedHealthcare.

And that first-degree murder charge is specific in the state of New York for acts like murder of a police officer, murder for hire, killing a witness, or again, in this case, acts of terrorism. Kristen Cavallari is sharing a terrifying story on yesterday's episode of her Let's Be Honest podcast. She was recalling a family trip that she took to the Bahamas with her kids and her now ex, Jay Cutler, a couple of years ago. And if you follow her, remember this, they ended up having to stay like a month and a half because of pandemic restrictions. Well, she said one night she woke up. Her kids were asleep. Jack, you and John would tell so many different stories, and he talked about his boys like crazy, didn't he?

Yes, he did. He was so proud of his boys. They're wonderful kids. I can't say enough about how he felt about his kids.

And you guys would also talk a little sports, too. He was a huge Spartan fan as well as a big Lions fan. Yeah. And this is such a tragedy that he leaves behind this beautiful woman to now have to try to figure out how to pick up the pieces for this family. We're going to grant a Christmas wish for them. right now hi carrie hello hi carrie it's mojo from mojo in the morning show i'm calling i'm calling you bright and early i know you're like Okay, so what is going on here? Why are you calling me? I'm calling you because we received a letter here to our show for our Mojo in the Morning Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish program from one of John's coworkers.

Okay.

And we just wanted to let you know, first off, we're very, very sorry for your loss, but I'm going to have him read you this letter, okay?

Okay. My name is Jack. I have listened to you for 23 years and have heard all the wonderful Christmas wishes that you have granted. I'm asking that you consider my co-worker and good friend John and his family for this year's breaking and entering Christmas wish. John became ill about a week and a half before Thanksgiving. He did return to work three days before the holiday, but left because he still didn't feel well. John ended up passing away the day before Thanksgiving, leaving behind his wife, Carrie, and their two sons. John and I would hang out together and talk sports and family. He loved bowling, was a big fan of the Spartans, and, of course, the Lions. He loved his family so much and was especially proud of his boys. John had one more year until he was able to retire, but with this sudden tragedy, it has left Carrie and the boys with no income, which means no Christmas. Mojo, if you could find a way to grant this family's Christmas wish, I know they would greatly appreciate it, along with myself. Sincerely, Jack Craig.

I can understand why you spend it with friends when they care about you so much to reach out to us to make sure that you were taken care of this year. Like, this is a very solid group of people that just care about you so much.

And Carrie, in some way, and I don't know if you feel this or not, but I feel it. In some way, I feel like this is your husband saying Merry Christmas. And in some way.

are you guys are headed to great wolf lodge and every single expense is going to be totally covered for you okay so we've got kroger gift cards to make sure that kitchen is full for the holidays. We've got gas cards for you. We're treating you to a spa day because we know that every mom could use that.

and we are writing you a big check, okay, to make sure that you don't have to worry during the holiday.

We want to make sure you have somewhere comfy for you and the boys to lay on and watch Christmas movies. But one of the things that we heard that to us as a show, we could not let go by. We had heard that you do love that fireplace, But sometimes you run that fireplace because you want to offset the expense of turning your heat on at home.

Have you guys been following those two NASA astronauts that are stuck in space right now? Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams planned on being away for a week, just a week when they blasted off on June 5th on Boeing's first astronaut flight to the International Space Station, their mission grew from eight days to eight months after NASA decided to send the company's problem-plagued Starliner capsule back empty in September. Well, their mission just got extended again. That means they won't be back on Earth until the spring, 10 months after blasting off. Why this time? Lastly, Grubhub has agreed to pay $25 million to settle a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit that claimed it misled customers and drivers while also damaging the reputation of restaurants. This proposed settlement will require Grubhub to make several changes to its platform, for example, showing the total delivery cost when you place an order. Along with advertising highly inflated hourly pay rates for drivers, the FTC's complaint is accusing Grubhub of hiding the true cost of its services by adding delivery fees that raised the price of our final orders. This hidden service fee that you didn't really realize until you checked out and you were like, wait a second, how did that cost that much? The FTC also alleging that the company charged Grubhub Plus members for delivery despite advertising that the subscription had a free or $0 delivery fee. And they also say canceling that is an absolute hassle and many people just give up and that should not be the case as well. You said the FTC? Yeah, Federal Trade Commission. I just wanted to know. Why are you a spit starting?

Sometimes you just listen, okay? And this was one of those moments where I go and listen. I like to receive different perspectives. I like to hear how other people think and how they approach situations. So Daryl was talking to me about relationships, and it wasn't just guys in a barbershop. Shout out to Ashley who sat across that she'd be doing hair. So Ashley was in there too. It was a woman in a chair, and they got to talking about men and women in relationships and how they coexist. And they started to talk about marriage and how things have changed over time or how things should change over time. And Daryl said something that had me, you know, clutch my pearls, as they say. Did they say that? He said, like, the idea is that women are the prize, right? And that men should chase women. And he said that is completely.

in most cases men are don't feel appreciated and it's not to make men and seem like they're very sensitive or feminine in any type of way. It's just that men get overlooked for everything that we bring to the situation. And it's not about a lot of times if we can afford a relationship. It's about can we afford a breakup? Because a lot of times when women leave, we don't get looked at as being emotional. Like, we're an emotional wreck, too. Especially if we go through a divorce, the kids get taken, the finances get taken, the house get taken, the car get taken. And so a lot of times we just get overlooked and it's like, you're supposed to be a man, you're barbaric, you'll be okay. But a lot of times men are left sad and poverty.

Men have feelings too.

They have feelings too. So that's why I say when we come into the situation, a woman gets to leave with everything. She gets to leave with her kids, the dog, the house. The man has to leave with half his things going. If there's anything he can keep for himself.

Well, I think, Daryl, I do think, Daryl, that both leave with less, unfortunately. And one of the things that they do leave with is sometimes a broken heart.

See, a lot of men don't want to say certain things because they have marriages or they have relationships and they don't want to offend women. I'm just crazy enough to just go in and say it. I'll be feeling like, look, man, at the end of the day, it's not all about women. And, you know, society, even when it comes to, like, holidays, Mother's Day and everything, holiday, you don't get nothing. think she knew i mean i i pretty much hide all of mine in the attic and we have like the national lampoons attic that you have to like pull the string pull the string down so she can't get up there but yeah that's where that's our hiding spot and then there's a ladder not really a ladder pop down from the thing? But it is a whole process and only Wes and I can do it. It's

scary. So believe me, they'll try because this is what, Joe, I remember Joe getting up in the attic because we have one of those too and I remember you started hearing, and if you don't walk in certain spots in our attic, you could fall through the floor too, by the way. So it's a little crazy. Well, here's the problem. After years of hiding things, Chelsea and I have run out of hiding spots which has led to us not knowing where certain gifts are because Because we would hide, we started buying before Thanksgiving, and then as we get closer and closer, she said to me the other day, she goes, do you know where the, can I say it? Because I don't know. No, don't ruin it.

Do you know where the thing that looks like a lion's jersey is? And I said to her, I go, I honestly don't remember. And I thought what I did was, I thought I got it, and it came from Fanatics, and I thought I put it on a hanger and hung it in my clothes because I thought that was a good hiding spot. And then I looked through every single one of my shirts and stuff. I couldn't find it. And then I realized, I don't think I took it out of the package. I think that was what I intended to do. So I'm now at a point, and you've got to tell me if you've ever done this. Have you, A, ever caught your kids finding your hiding spot? And if so, how did you catch them? Or, B, forgot where you're hiding.

How funny is that? I wonder how many, like, lost presents are in people's homes that they don't find out until they move or something. That's pretty wild. Shannon brought up the attic. Somebody said, Shannon, be careful in the attic because if you have any kind of mildew or anything up there.

Well, you know what I started doing? because to get that thing down and you know this because you have it it is a pain in the butt i have this little tool with like a hook on the end that i have to go get and then put it it's like a process and so a lot of the times like the packages that i've been ordering i'll stack them in the garage especially amazon stuff and i'll try to throw them all up there at one time so i'm not constantly going through the process of getting the ladder down and freaking lucy opened two of her gifts the other day because she was like i'm i thought they were my slime containers that you ordered for me from amazon and it was two christmas gifts that she already opened she knew what she was doing she knew yeah she's a smart kid kevin what's going on good morning everybody

i'm a avid christmas toy searcher um so being a new parent um what i did was i actually put my kids toys in a suitcase so when we went traveling later on and um you know during christmas i was like oh crap you forgot to give them this toy so what we did was just use them as thin as throughout the year or just gave it to him on their birthday.

That's a genius hiding spot in suitcases.

Well, a New York grand jury has indicted Luigi Mangione on terrorism charges related to the December 4th killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. This is Manhattan DA Elvin Bragg.

Luigi Mangione, the defendant, is charged with one count of murder in the first degree and two counts of murder in the second degree, including one count of murder in the second degree as an act of terrorism.

Did you guys know that they now are saying that if he goes back to New York extradited there for this case, they think that if he chooses a jury, he could get off because they say that there have been so many people that they believe sympathize with him, like idolize and idolize. So in a lot of people, I think are saying this and it's causing the U.S. attorneys to be a little freaked out by it.

We don't celebrate murders and we don't lionize the killing of anyone.

Authorities in New York speaking out against reaction on social media to the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson as they announced murder charges against his alleged killer, Luigi Mangione.

There is no heroism in what Mangione did. This was a senseless act of violence.

The Ivy League grad has become a kind of social media folk hero amid widespread frustration with health insurance companies. One survey finding 41% of people under the age of 30 consider the actions of Thompson's alleged killer acceptable. One DJ even used photos of Mangione for a backdrop during this show in Boston. A campaign seeking to pay for his legal defense has raised more than $100,000, and Mangione has reportedly received more than 150 deposits into his prison commissary account.

Again, provide upfront pricing for services like vacation rentals, hotels, and concert tickets. The new rule is intended to eliminate these junk fees, these added costs that are tacked on when you go to checkout for your purchase and you're like, wait a second, these tickets were not this much money. The new rule will require businesses clearly disclose the true total price inclusive of all of those mandatory fees whenever they advertise any price to a live event or any sort of lodging. So, for instance, a person purchasing a ticket for this weekend's NFL game between the Bengals and the Browns is shown a ticket price of one hundred and ten dollars. Well, then the ticket contains a $21.40 service fee, a $3 order processing fee, bringing the total before taxes to $131.40. The new rule would say that that $134.40, that price has to be displayed before you get to the checkout screen. So you know what the all-in total is going to be charged to your credit card. Those new rules are set to go into effect next year.

I'm okay. Should we or shouldn't we is the question. Since I started dating my husband, who is Canadian, we always go to Canada to celebrate Boxing Day, which is right after Christmas. So we leave the day after Christmas. They don't celebrate Christmas in Canada? No, they do, but we're celebrating Christmas here with our, you know, our kids and our... What's Boxing Day? Yeah, is that like actual boxing? Like the sport? No, it's kind of like Black Friday. I guess I could equate it, but it's like a thing. All of our Canadian listeners are aware of this, but we get to see his two sisters and his brother and spend time with the cousins and some of his friends that he grew up with. However, and you guys know this, something has always gone wrong since I started going. from me projectile vomiting all over his sister's house because I had some, like, norovirus thing, to a murder at the hotel that we were staying at one year, to last year when all of the kids' Christmas gifts got stolen out of our car. I mean, it has not been the most pleasant of experiences every year we take this trip to Canada. And this year, there is some family drama with certain siblings not talking to other siblings, which is forcing Wes to be he's in a really tough spot because well myself as well but we're trying to figure out a schedule of like driving to and from the various suburbs of Toronto which are like hours apart because one sibling doesn't want to be around another sibling and it's like man oh man it it's a puzzle of trying to figure this out and Wes said yeah yeah but Wes was like Maybe we should just skip this year and just spend quality time with each other at home. You know, we have we both have a break from work. We never get a chance to just have nothing on our calendar. And he's like, I don't want to be miserable. I don't want to be in the middle of everybody else's drama.

So there's four siblings. So he gets along with all three, but there's two that are not getting along. And he was like, this is theirs to fix. But now we're all being drawn into it, and it's going to make for a crazy couple of days for us trying to manage making sure that they are apart.

She would. But it's true. She would hate the idea that you guys aren't all going to spend Christmas together. And I also said, I feel like you have to be really careful because once you skip and everybody is not together.

The glue is gone, and it never goes back. And he's like, but we wouldn't all be together anyway. We're all going to have separate celebrations because of what's going on.

No, there's the deal. In those Hallmark movies, you're separate to start, and then something happens, and then they were brought together.

Well, I would hope so. I hope that happens before we go. But I don't think it's going to, unfortunately.

What if you are the peacemaker in the family? What if you, as the new sister-in-law, you can do this. You can, like, bring them together and try to make bygones be bygones or something like that. I've heard that before.

Um, I wish I could do that. I don't think I can. I mean, could you imagine? I don't think I can.

He would fall so much more in love with you if you could do that.

But I even said that to Wes, and he has tried already. Yeah. And he is also like, it's not, like, why, that is a lot of pressure to put on me. Right. He's already been trying.

And to your point about how his mother would feel, wouldn't his mother not want him to be disgusted and miserable on Christmas? He brought that up, too.

He's like, you could say that mom would want us all to be together, but you could also say that mom wouldn't want it to be like this.

It's a long story, but siblings were not getting along and I tried to make it to try to get them to talk and I did the surprise meeting type deal. It just blew up. It wasn't bad. but it wasn't good and it can it can make it worse so i would not see the surprise at all

did it immediately blow up or did they try to play nice and then eventually it blew up um there

was a semi nice part of it and there's the different parties there was a walkout which was okay it wasn't like a big blow up but it just was not a good idea and in retrospect i felt like a heel and if i would put myself in their position i would not want them to have done that on me

I'm calling you because we received a letter here to our show for our Mojo in the Morning breaking and entering Christmas wish program from one of John's co-workers.

And we are just wanting to let you know, first off, we're very, very sorry for your loss, but I'm going to have him read you this letter, okay?

Okay. Day, Monday, in the morning. My name is Jack. I have listened to you for 23 years and have heard all the wonderful Christmas wishes that you have granted. it. I'm asking that you consider my co-worker and good friend John and his family for this year's breaking and entering Christmas wish. John became ill about a week and a half before Thanksgiving. He did return to work three days before the holiday but left because he still didn't feel well. John ended up passing away the day before Thanksgiving. Leaving behind his wife Carrie and their two sons. John and I would hang out together and talk sports and family. He loved bowling, was a big fan of the Spartans, and of course the Lions. He loved his family so much and was especially proud of his boys. John had one more year until he

was able to retire, but with this sudden tragedy, it has left Carrie and the boys with no income, which means no Christmas. Mojo, if you could find a way to grant this family's Christmas wish, I know they would greatly appreciate it, along with myself. Sincerely, Jack Craig.

no we're not not at all oh my goodness carrie we heard so much about you and one of the things we heard is that you give to those boys everything and that's why we're going to give to them everything that they've wanted i mean we got tons of gifts i mean people can see it on our videos We understand that the kids and their dad used to love sports, so we got a fun planning of things for you guys, a bunch of lion stuff. Our friends from the Detroit Tigers want your boys to be there at opening day for the Tigers this upcoming season. So we're going to make that happen.
