All right, it is Mojo in the Morning Show. Kev, it's good to have you back after your uncle's funeral yesterday. I do have to ask you a question.

00:01:40 - 00:01:41 | Speaker 8:

Uh-oh, here it goes.

00:01:41 - 00:01:44 | Speaker 7:

Like everybody wants to go to a Chaldean wedding.

00:01:44 - 00:01:44 | Speaker 8:

Yeah.

00:01:45 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 7:

I've always wanted to go to a black funeral.

00:01:48 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 8:

So you've never been that close to a black person where they died and you went to the funeral?

00:01:51 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 7:

They always stop being friends with me right before they die. No, I've never been to a traditional funeral. I've been to a funeral for a friend of mine that was black, okay? Like, actually, it was a client. But it wasn't, like, one where it's, like, at the, what's the big old church that's just off of 75?

00:02:13 - 00:02:18 | Speaker 6:

The big old, like, they call it a second Ebenezer. Ebenezer. Okay, that's one of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like a megachurch.

00:02:18 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 7:

Like, I want to go to a. I've never been to a megachurch. But I want to go to the funeral where, and I've seen this before, but I, like Rosa Parks, when Rosa Parks had her funeral, like it's like a horse-drawn carriage, they have them

00:02:30 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 6:

and some of them. When I lived in Atlanta, that was standard. Really? There were companies that came in, like you would have a wedding planner, you would have like a celebration of life planner. And it was a, it was, it was like a wedding. I mean, there were so many pieces. Yes, it was an event.

00:02:44 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 8:

I mean, you remember when Aretha died not too long ago and they had 97 pink Cadillacs flooded on women.

00:02:50 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 7:

Like, that's the kind of funeral I want to go to. And I want to go to it also because we've talked before on our show about crazy stuff that happens at funerals. And it's usually any of our black listeners that will call up and they'll tell us about somebody jumping in a casket and stuff like that.

00:03:06 - 00:03:07 | Speaker 8:

It be like that sometimes.

00:03:07 - 00:03:11 | Speaker 7:

But I want, did anything crazy happen at your funerals?

00:03:11 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 8:

I mean, the funeral was amazing.

00:03:13 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 7:

Okay.

00:03:13 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 8:

a lot of tears uh a lot of emotion but a lot of love and the one thing about black funerals that i say because i don't know how they do it in other cultures i haven't been to that many other cultures funerals um outside of one and i didn't even see the body that was a whole different thing but we had a situation where after i read the obituary right after that we slide to condolences and remarks now in the program it says keep your remarks at maximum two minutes ain't nobody listening to that it was damn near 20 minutes per remark where that was longer than the whole funeral oh my gosh ain't nobody got time for that oh my gosh not only was the remarks beyond two minutes but it felt like 50 people got up there and spoke oh i take it back i don't want to go to a black funeral anymore i'm telling you if you've heard the cliche that black church lasts long like funerals last long really i'm telling you it was it was like it was no cap on there it was like the preacher at the end was like just to be clear there is nobody else that has to say anything my grandma was like that's it that's it that's it but the only drama part came shout out my cousin marcia so how the church was set up it's like a piano to the left then you got the pews and there were chairs behind the piano okay so if you sat up front in the pews in front of the piano you couldn't see whoever was sitting in the chairs now the line for people to come speak were those individuals in the chair so one person get up and this lady is in the first pew and she think nobody else is in the chair so the lady gets up because if marcia is next in line because she's been sitting in the chair waiting her turn she get up they damn near have this Tyson Holyfield

00:05:00 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 4:

at the mic like they stand and looking at each other at the mic like grimming each other like it's my turn and they kind of whisper where you could but you could see the emotion where she leaning forward like i was here first then she pointed to the chair i was like that's where the wine was at the pastor get up and say now i got boxing gloves in a car if we need to figure this thing all out i swear to god he said that i'm like no but marcia won because you ain't nobody about the best with cousin marcia so the lady had to sit on and wait and are they dressed in

00:05:27 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 3:

And they're like, yeah, they dress to the nines.

00:05:31 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 4:

So where'd the other lady go? She just sat on in the chest and then waited.

00:05:36 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 3:

This is the best, though. After Marcia spoke, did the lady walk up and did Marcia give her a look?

00:05:44 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 4:

No, no, no. They got it. And they kind of it was kind of nice, nasty things where she walked up. She's like, OK, I told you.

00:05:53 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 1:

What did I tell you? Didn't I tell you? Because I told you. And when did I tell you?

00:05:58 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 2:

A long time ago.

00:06:00 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 1:

And what did I say what happened when I told you? Exactly what just happened.

00:06:06 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 5:

Now, I have to ask you because you've talked about this before. Did your mom take a photo of Uncle Paul in the casket?

00:06:14 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 4:

My mom is notorious for this. She didn't take a photo of him in the casket. This is great. She took a photo of him when he was dead in the hospital.

00:06:23 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 3:

Oh, wow.

00:06:24 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 4:

She just, I don't know why she's been taking pictures of her.

00:06:27 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 3:

That's loving, though. I guess. No, it's true.

00:06:30 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 5:

Because I heard that that's a thing. That is part of black funeral celebrations as well. And we talked about this.

00:06:35 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 4:

I don't know. Only my mama do that. I don't know any of the black people that take pictures of people in the casket. That's a my mama thing.

00:06:42 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 3:

Well, that's been something that's come up before. But can I tell you something? I love my brothers and sisters so much. I love them, you know, they were, they, we have such a bond. the six of us, too. I don't think I could see myself doing that, but I could see in a moment of grief, you know what I mean? Like, you would do it. Like, I'd do it, honestly. I'd do it if there was, like, a weird look on their face, probably, or something. But that's sweet. Just don't have to flash on them. That's sweet, though, that, you know... That's tough, man. I can't imagine.

00:07:11 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 5:

Marshall come at you.

00:07:12 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 3:

All right, so here's the topic, all right? Here's the topic, if you don't mind.

00:07:16 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 4:

What?

00:07:17 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 3:

I want to talk about fights at funerals. Who got in a fight at a funeral? Is that okay? Go ahead. Because Marsha and the other lady almost got into a fight at the funeral. I want to know if there's anybody that's ever had a fight at a funeral and what the fight was at the funeral. Because you always hear of these things that happen, and I could see where it would because emotions. Yeah, running high. For sure. And there's always the, you know, everybody is kind of freaking out moment, you know, because nobody knows how to grieve right.

00:07:49 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 4:

And another thing is people have different relationships with the person that passed away. So even though your experience could have been one that was, oh, I loved him so much. We had all these great moments, all these great times. I could have had the complete opposite experience. And if I get up there and talk about my experience, that may piss some people off.

00:08:07 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 3:

Chelsea yesterday and I were talking about funerals because she just went to a funeral for her aunt or cousin. I'm sorry, her mom's first cousin, so Chelsea's cousin, and our really, really good, close relative, Kelly's mom, Brenda. And Chelsea was talking about her funeral. And she said that at her funeral, like, she wants everybody to pretty much know, like, she wants Jacob to do the eulogy. And she wants Jacob to get up there and basically say, my mom didn't like you. Like, look out at the crowd and go, my mom didn't like you. Just so you know that. Because Chelsea's a very honest person, you know what I mean? and Chelsea honestly would be like sitting there and Jacob going, I'd like to do the eulogy. First off, you, you, and you. And she said that Jacob would be the only person that would be able to pull that off because Joe, myself, and Luke are all kind of BSers. You know what I mean? Like we kind of BS our way through it.

00:08:58 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 4:

Can I give a quick shout out? Because I told her I would do it. Shout out my cousin, Chef Rachel. Get your drop ready. Of Le Petit Dejanin, per se, on Woodward, she made the food for the repass. was slapping. Petite dejeuner.

00:09:14 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 5:

What's it called? Petite dejeuner.

00:09:16 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 4:

Say it again. Petite dejeuner per se. Soul Cuisine. Shout out my cousin Chef Rachel. Wait a second. Is this a trade for mention? Nah, she just told me to shout her out. The fool was banging on her. She said shout her out. Shout out Rachel.

00:09:27 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Alright, come on. Hold on a second. You're telling me there is nobody listening to the show that has ever been to a funeral and that has ever witnessed a fight or been in a fight at a funeral? There's not one phone call on here what is going on here right now i have one coming up it get wicked at these funerals hold on a second here i'm calling up the radio station here just to see if this phone line's working i don't know if this uh this crap is even working right let's see here uh hold on a second here let me see

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 7:

Mojo in the Morning. Hi, is this thing working?

00:10:04 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 5:

Is this the Mojo in the Morning show?

00:10:06 - 00:10:07 | Unknown:

This is the Mojo in the Morning show.

00:10:07 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 5:

Can you please stop playing Sabrina Carpenter every hour? Thank you.

00:10:12 - 00:10:14 | Unknown:

Just as long as they stop playing Goji. Goodbye.

00:10:14 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 5:

Bye. Hold on a second. Fight at a funeral. 844 Mojo live. What's up, Belle? How you doing?

00:10:23 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 2:

Good. How are you?

00:10:25 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 5:

We're doing good. Kev had a funeral yesterday for his uncle. We want to talk about the fact that these two ladies were fighting. You heard that story, right?

00:10:34 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:10:34 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 5:

Did you ever witness a fight at a funeral?

00:10:37 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. So my cousin passed away, and there was somebody there that was kind of talking about him and the situation. And he said something that upset my other cousin, and they broke out into a fit fight, and somebody had to call the cops and get the guy taken away. The cops came.

00:10:56 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my gosh. At that point when they start scuffling with each other, I'm worried that if it gets physical that they're going to get close to the casket and that thing's going to fall right off of the wheels on that thing. Crazy. You know? I was a pallbearer once for my uncle, and I have to tell you something. Being a pallbearer, that little thing that wheels the casket out towards.

00:11:16 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 3:

Well, that thing creeps me out.

00:11:17 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 5:

You know, the hearse and everything. Yeah. That thing, I'm telling you, is not secure. Those people that work at funerals, you got to be really careful with that. Can you imagine the casket falling down? I couldn't imagine that. How about that one funeral where the casket fell in and everybody fell into the grave? Bury me with them. Chrissy, what's up? It's Mojo in the Morning.

00:11:38 - 00:11:39 | Speaker 7:

Good morning, guys. How are you?

00:11:39 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 5:

We're great. What's going on?

00:11:41 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 7:

So my aunt's funeral several years ago, she had a couple kids that were all estranged from the family because they were druggies. And they showed up to the funeral and were trying to basically take over the whole service, talking about how the relationship was so great with their mom when clearly we all knew it wasn't. And my uncle stood up and tried to put them in their place, which turned into a rumble and chairs being thrown and people rolling on the ground.

00:12:05 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God. That's horrible.

00:12:07 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 7:

Like, if your family's funeral ends up on the Metro Detroit News Instagram, I am invested.

00:12:17 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God. This is a wild one. We were talking about fights at funerals, and we talked about when something comes up at a funeral that you didn't know about. Maddie, what happened at the funeral?

00:12:31 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 8:

Hi, guys. I'm a first-time caller. Hey. Maddie, you're welcome.

00:12:37 - 00:12:41 | Unknown:

So basically, when I was 10, my father unfortunately passed away.

00:12:41 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 8:

Oh. But his side girlfriend decided to show up. Oh. And my mom and her started, yeah, my mom and her started arguing and my grandma beat her up.

00:12:51 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 5:

Oh, wait a second. First off, Maddie, I'm so sorry. Losing a parent at 10 years old is tough. I can't imagine how difficult it also must be to find out that your father is doing this on the side.

00:13:11 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 8:

Yes, my dad would actually think that was very funny. That was just his humor. So I personally think it's hilarious.

00:13:19 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 5:

Did your mom know that the side piece was around? Because sometimes people know that there's a side piece.

00:13:25 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 8:

Correct. My mom was very much aware.

00:13:28 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 5:

Oh, geez. That's crazy.

00:13:29 - 00:13:31 | Speaker 8:

We were actually best friends.

00:13:31 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 5:

Oh, that's even worse.

00:13:34 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 8:

Yes.

00:13:34 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 5:

Wow. Dang.

00:13:35 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, even worse.

00:13:37 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 5:

Because that was my question. How does she know about the funeral? But I guess your mama told me.

00:13:42 - 00:13:48 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, it was pretty much around everywhere. I mean, my dad was pretty popular in the Monroe area. No.

00:13:48 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 5:

Hey, Monroe. Yeah. He was the man in Monroe. Maddie's dad for Monroe. Thank you for the call, Maddie.

00:13:55 - 00:14:01 | Speaker 3:

Come live Jimmy. Love you, Maddie.

00:14:01 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 4:

Take care. Live performances from Metro Boomin, J.I.D., Subtronics, and Bunt. Three days of sport and music. Get your tickets now at xgames.com.
