Mojo on the morning show. Yesterday was a really bad day for KP, our producer. She sent me a text last night or yesterday evening right before we were sitting down to eat some dinner. And I felt so bad for you. And I can't believe that you waited until the second time. But tell everybody what happened to you yesterday.

00:02:24 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 2:

Well, this happened over a course of three hours very suddenly, and I feel like the world is kind of laughing at me right now because a couple weeks ago, I literally saw this poor girl. Her car broke down right at the front of the Starbucks drive-thru. She had just gotten her drink. She was right at the exit blocking everybody, and there's a tow truck. and then yesterday i was on my way back to the radio station after i had a client visit i was like oh i need a starbucks went to that our our favorite starbucks and literally my car shut off at the window like it just stopped working and my car is not like a like a lemon like my car is like like just a few years old yeah 2019 jeep compass oh my god that i just got four new tires on and um had a couple repairs to with the stop start feature and it wasn't to this extent though but my car shut off in the drive-through the dude behind me um honked and then i'm like hey i'm stuck actually i'm not like on my phone or anything yeah he's hanging he wants his coffee uh but shout out to the starbucks because they still brought us our coffee even Even though I was shut down in the drive-thru. They came around outside. That is service. And I think they gave the dude who helped me a handful of gift cards. What did he do? I really don't know what he did. And it was kind of scary because he was pulling a bunch of wires and stuff out the front of my car. So I don't know what was going on in my car. Is this the guy that was honking or a different guy? The guy was honking.

00:03:57 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 5:

So the guy wasn't a jerk about it. He actually said, got out of his car and helped me.

00:04:02 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 2:

Got out and get it going again just to get it out of the drive-thru. And it was so funny because as soon as my car started working again, the manager was like, go, go, go, go. So I could get out of there.

00:04:13 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 5:

By the way, this wasn't the only time that this happened. So then tell everybody what happened after that.

00:04:18 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

This is the first incident. And this tells you how much I love my job. The only thing I was thinking of was I have to go back to the station to finish my show. I have to go back because I'm on from midnight to 5 a.m. So I was like, I have to get back to the station to finish work. so i i got to the station did my show and then i go to leave and i'm like okay i i hope i can make it home i don't know what's wrong with my car maybe i accidentally hit the emergency brake which is why my car stopped and it kind of froze which is still weird so i'm gonna have to take it in but i hope i can get home i broke down again right at the intersection of 12 mile and halsted right in front of our radio station oh that's the worst during rush hour Whoa.

00:05:00 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 5:

and waited for a tow truck for two hours were people uh not very patient with you sitting there everyone like not everyone but there are just a couple people where they're sitting behind you honking i'm sorry if you are too that close to my car that you cannot see the emergency flashers you are too close to my car right now so awkward yeah so that's what happened to me and this is my uh public service announcement to anyone who wants to give me an endorsement for a new car because

00:05:28 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 2:

we all know a good dealership

00:05:31 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 3:

wait a second so hold on 2019 what is it again a compass how could a compass that's 2019 with low miles on the thing be already breaking

00:05:41 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 5:

I looked it up there's apparently an issue with the stop start where you either your car shuts down while in movement so there have been reports of like 65 miles per hour the car shuts down and the car freaks

00:05:54 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 3:

there's no recall on that

00:05:55 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 2:

so a lot of people are saying the same thing On text, the same thing is happening to them.

00:06:00 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 3:

Question for you, what's worse? Is it worse to break down in a Starbucks drive-thru or in the middle of an intersection?

00:06:07 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 5:

Starbucks. I know, I was just at Starbucks too. People want their coffee. Yeah, and more people haunt through the Starbucks drive-thru than they did on Halstead Road or 12 Mile Road.

00:06:19 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 3:

Is it Janessa?

00:06:21 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 1:

Yes.

00:06:22 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 3:

Hey, Janessa, what's up? You wanted to talk to our producer, KP?

00:06:25 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, KP. I just, okay, so I had a lease, a 2020 Compass, and I had nothing but issues. The trans slipped, it shut off randomly. I had, like, this clunking in my axle. Get rid of it. Get yourself a big-ass Ram like I just got.

00:06:42 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 5:

You know what? I have been thinking about getting a new car. I'm like, wow, I just have this weird gut feeling that my car is about to go to bed. I don't know. Never wake up. Like, I just, something's been telling me, and this is just my confirmation.

00:06:56 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 3:

So when you bring it to a dealership, what does a dealership say about that? I can't imagine that they would just let you, leave you hanging.

00:07:02 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 5:

Well, you know, after the tow truck took my car away, which, by the way, I had to tip him like I was at a coffee shop. He gave me a tablet to tip the tow truck driver. Oh, my gosh, really? Which was another so interesting thing because apparently my insurance didn't have any available tow trucks in the area that I could be covered through my plan, so I had to pay out of pocket. Oh, my God. I'm the hot mess express. Let's just say that. But, yeah, so once they took it away, it's at the dealer right now. I have to call them and say, hey, that's my car.

00:07:31 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 3:

Here's what we're going to do. We're going to throw it out there. And this could be to anybody from any of our great dealerships that advertise with us. Summit Place, Kia. Mike, what's your Kia dealer called? Kia of Grand Rapids North. Kia of Grand Rapids North. Gordon Chevrolet.

00:07:49 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 4:

Grand Buick GMC.

00:07:51 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:07:52 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

Zot Ford.

00:07:53 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 3:

Zot Ford. Steve Gabara. Steve, but don't be careful with Steve, though. You'll go on a date with him.

00:07:58 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 5:

Hey, hey, that's my man. He won't have a tip in the iPad. I wouldn't dare, Megan. I wouldn't dare.

00:08:03 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 3:

Or anybody listening. Anybody listening. Whoever. You know what? Let's help KP out here.

00:08:07 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 5:

Megan, why can't we catch a break? Like, I feel like as soon as I pay one bill, I've got five more that just, like, come. I just bought four new tires. Your basement flooded last week, right? Yeah.

00:08:18 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 4:

Can I tell you what my dad told me after my basement flooded? What? And I genuinely was so glad we were on the phone and not in person. And I think he does, too. And he's listening right now. And, yes, I am about to call you out. Don't change the station. He just told me if I thought more positive, these things probably will work.

00:08:35 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 1:

That's a damn thing.

00:08:36 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 4:

I genuinely started crying very hard. And my dad was like, I think I just made it worse. And I was like, no.

00:08:41 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 5:

That is hilarious. Because in my topics that I said last night, I said the first thing on my topics was nothing can make my week terrible. I'm trying so hard to be positive. That is what I put on my topic sheet.

00:08:54 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 3:

Jason, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning.

00:08:57 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 2:

Hey. KP, if the same incident happens three times, I believe it has to be a major incident, and this qualifies as a major incident because it deals with your powertrain and your engine, you can lemon-wine it.

00:09:13 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 3:

But I don't think you can. Real quick, I don't think you can if it's three times in, like, one day. I think you have to get it fixed, and then if the fixing part doesn't work, if that happens.

00:09:22 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 5:

I got the stop-start fixed. A couple of months ago. Really?

00:09:26 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 1:

Oh, okay.

00:09:26 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

Keep checking. And it's under the recall. So it should qualify as a lemon law, and you can lemon law the car.

00:09:33 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 5:

Is it under recall, though?

00:09:36 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 2:

I thought I heard you say it was under recall.

00:09:39 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 5:

I don't think it is. That's what I mean.

00:09:40 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 3:

That's amazing that it's not. I can't imagine if all these people are texting us about this same car, this Jeep Compass. Why would that not be?

00:09:47 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

Because, remember, they won't recall something unless it's financially beneficial for them to do so. So they can know there's an issue, but if it's easier for them to just pay off a few people instead of recalling it, that's what they'll do.

00:10:00 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 10:

Am I going to have to fix the entire car before I get rid of it?

00:10:03 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 12:

Honestly, I would definitely make that dealer do some phone calls. You're putting a little pressure talking about it on the radio right now.

00:10:11 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 10:

Yeah, I am. What's going on? I'm in Chrysler, if you're listening right now.

00:10:14 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 12:

So that's who they towed it to?

00:10:16 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 10:

No, that's not where it went, but that's where I got the car.

00:10:19 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 12:

Oh, okay. Well, we'll see what they can do. They're upstanding people. They'll help you out. I think so. What's going on, Jamie?

00:10:25 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 8:

Hi. Yes. K.P., did you say yours was a 2018 or 2019? It was 19. Okay. Well, my daughter has a 2018, and when we went to the dealership, the guy was really nice, and he explained to us that it is something about making the oil, I can't remember, but too much oil goes in too quickly or something. What do you do for it? That's what I read in the article. Well, does your car, like, ever, do you check the oil often? Do you notice that it is low every now and again?

00:10:55 - 00:10:56 | Speaker 10:

It's just got an oil change.

00:10:57 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, so with our daughter, what fixed the problem, knock on wood so far, is it was actually, we took it in, and it is some kind of recall with the computer system. You can actually, they can reset it there, and it literally took them like eight minutes, and all it does is kind of tell the engine how much oil to put in.

00:11:17 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 12:

This is all too technical. We're making sausage right now. Jamie, what does she do about the Starbucks? What should she do about that? This is just awful. There's nothing worse than being stuck in the middle of an intersection. Right, Veronica?

00:11:30 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. So I actually had problems with my car, and they brought it into the dealership and got it fixed in a day. But what they didn't notice is that my coolant was leaking into my oil. Oh, jeez. And I was driving to school running on coolant, and my engine blew five minutes away from my school. And this is a brand-new 2022 Chevy Blazer.

00:11:56 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 12:

And were you in the middle of an intersection when it blew?

00:11:59 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 5:

I was in the middle of an intersection And my car is just like shaking and rumbling

00:12:04 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 11:

Oh, that's so scary Oh my gosh And I'm sure people were honking instead of being friendly

00:12:08 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 10:

Let me just say There's something special about intersections and me Because this is the second time in the course of four weeks That I've broken down at an intersection Remember my gas, me running out of gas That was a self-inflicted problem

00:12:19 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 12:

This is, by the way, the worst thing Honestly, I have fears of that happening Of breaking down in the middle of a road and not that somebody's going to hit me, just that somebody's going to be behind me and I have to look embarrassed as they honk at you. I'm just making notes.

00:12:34 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 3:

We know who's not driving to the next morning show. I know, we're not.

00:12:37 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 12:
