Showtime. We'll be right back.

00:02:54 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

Good morning. Welcome to the Mojo on the Morning Show. War of the Roses this morning is kind of an interesting one because it's a husband suspicious that his wife is cheating with her ex-husband. And his reasoning behind this is they still kiss each other. Which, in all great schemes of things, is weird in itself, but they do have kids together, and she uses the kids as her reasoning as to why she's still affectionate with him. You gotta hear this And you gotta make sure that you stick around For the War of the Roses at 7 and 9 o'clock And if you can't stick around Then listen to the podcast Which we will post for you Actually as the show goes on But you'll get a chance to listen to it right after it happens After 7 Mojo, Spike, Shannon, Megan, Mike Good to have you guys with us 104.5 SNX Channel 955 and 92.5 KISS FM Our producers are working Their butts off kp our executive producer uh lydia here our associate producer and screening your calls uh we have uh katie our executive audio director so it's good to have you guys here all right mojo on the morning show shannon i was uh uh looking at your social media i think it might have been over the weekend and i all i kept thinking to myself was how much work it must be to be a Girl Scout mom because I saw the boxes upon boxes. It didn't look like boxes. It looked like crates full of, you looked like you were the stocker at Kroger that was stocking a full shelf with the amount of Girl Scout cookies that came in. Is this the time now where Girl Scout cookies are

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 2:

are all getting delivered to people?

00:05:02 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 4:

I think that it's different for each troop. But I know for Lucy's troop, and she's in third grade, we did the online ordering and the paper ordering, where you could go door-to-door, which we did not do any of that. We just did the online ordering and took the easy way out. God bless you, because I'm the worst Girl Scout mom in the world. So those cookies came in, and then Lucy will have to go and deliver all of those to the people who ordered them. and then which she hates by the way because she gets really nervous to do it but that's a big part that's a big part of this

00:05:34 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 2:

does she hate going and asking for it or do you guys do it

00:05:39 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 4:

they don't even really do that anymore I mean you can with the paper ordering but now it's just a link that people can click and order themselves like it kind of took a lot of the fun out of it

00:05:49 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 2:

all the interpersonal out of everybody's life nowadays haven't we

00:05:52 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 4:

it wasn't about teaching the skills interests about me. For the very first time since she joined Girl Scouts and can do cookies, she's doing where they sell outside of a store. So she's doing that next month.

00:06:08 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 2:

What kind of store does she get to go to?

00:06:10 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 4:

It's like a pet store. She'll be outside of a little pet store. That's what we signed up for. But yeah, we got boxes. And they keep asking me, can we open cookies for dessert? I'm like, they're not our cookies. We have to go deliver them Spike I think you ordered some cookies

00:06:28 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 3:

I ordered them and I used to do the table thing too The what? The table thing standing out in front of us Yeah I've never done that Getting all the funny I bought them on the way in Yeah

00:06:42 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 2:

I'm sorry I'm looking for M is for cookie song from Sesame Street Do you remember that song at all?

00:06:47 - 00:06:48 | Speaker 3:

C is for cookie

00:06:48 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 2:

M is for monster What just happened? Oh, my God. C is for cooking.

00:06:55 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 4:

Do you need to go back to third grade? Actually, that's like kindergarten.

00:06:57 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 2:

I do feel horrible. Oh, my God. That's why you couldn't find it. I couldn't find it.

00:07:01 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

I'm like, why is this not singing? It's so funny because you keep saying Girl Scout mom. And yesterday, I had to send Andrew a text and say, you're welcome because I had to go to, and only one parent was allowed to go, I had to go to a glitter bomb party for Girl Scouts. What is that? Well, I didn't know either, Spike. Sounds horrible. I got the little invite from the troop leader, and they told us, you know, to come at this time. And the girls were so excited, and they'd been preparing for it for the past couple of weeks. And so I said to Lucy the night before last, you know, what is this glitter bomb party that I'm going to be at tomorrow? You're just going to have to wait and see. So I'm, like, prepared.

00:07:41 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 2:

So are you going to this one? You're not going to bail on it? No, this was yesterday. And it was fine.

00:07:46 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 4:

There was actually no glitter involved except for decorations.

00:07:50 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 2:

Did you use the excuse I don't want to camp or anything like that?

00:07:53 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

Oh, the camp that I don't want to go to that I talked about the other day?

00:07:56 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 2:

For those listeners that were listening a week ago, Shannon was talking about not wanting to do this camp thing because she doesn't like to stay overnight in a camp.

00:08:03 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 4:

Can I tell you something? I polled the other moms that were there yesterday. There is only one mom and one child going. And it's the troop leader and her daughter. Oh, no. Why? Well, two reasons. One, nobody else wants to go. But the bigger reason, it's a big sports tournament weekend, like final tournaments for a few different sports. So everybody's either doing that or out of town for that. I got so lucky.

00:08:29 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 2:

I got so lucky. Doesn't that make you put more pressure on you, though?

00:08:33 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 4:

Well, Luz knows now. Because I did ask her. I did tell her about it. I felt kind of guilty after the listeners roasted me that morning.

00:08:41 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, but be careful. Don't talk about it too much. Because if they find out only one, the troop leader's the only one that can go, she'll change the date on you. So you can all go.

00:08:49 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's true. First off, let me just say this. There's way too many activities. You should not be doing a camping trip, a glitter bomb party, and then having to deliver all these cookies.

00:09:02 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 4:

There was ice skating this past weekend. Oh, my God.

00:09:04 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 2:

What starts with the letter C? There's a lot of stuff. Oh, here we go.

00:09:07 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 3:

Cookies start with C. Did you say there was no glitter at the glitter bomb party?

00:09:11 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 4:

It was just, I said, why did you guys call it a glitter bomb party?

00:09:13 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's twisted to do that to the parents.

00:09:14 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 4:

And she was like, oh, you just like the name for the party. Dude, I was preparing to get showered with glitter That's good enough for me

00:09:22 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 2:

G is for glitter That's what they need to do They need to update the Sesame Street stuff What's going on, Doreen?

00:09:33 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

Good morning, guys Good morning You are not the worst Girl Scout mom I am I'm from Germany So we don't even have that And my daughter's been begging me for years That she wants to join us So I thought it's just cookie selling, right? That's what you do. Well, first of all, she just joined. She's in fourth grade. I had no idea that we had to pre-order. Like, we have to buy them ourselves and then sell them at the cookie stand.

00:10:00 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 6:

I had no idea. So I only had like three online orders, like four on paper orders. And she said, all my sons have like 700 boxes. I said, 700 boxes? I didn't even go towards them. And I didn't even know that I had to buy her a vest. I thought we were just going to get one there. So I still don't know what I'm doing.

00:10:19 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 3:

Oh, don't even worry about the vest. First of all, Lucy never wants to wear her vest. And I had to laugh because the mom that I sat next to yesterday at this glitter bomb party, Her daughter's vest had all the patches Stapled on it And she's like, she's a third child Can you tell? I just don't care anymore

00:10:36 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 5:

That's right What's up, George? How you doing?

00:10:40 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 1:

Good, good It's funny, my sister went to pick up Her granddaughter's cookies And they picked up over 500 boxes Holy cow Good for her They filled the back of his truck with them It was crazy

00:10:54 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 5:

How do you deliver 500 boxes?

00:10:57 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 3:

Well, and the process of sorting them to what each person gets takes a long time.

00:11:03 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 5:

I bet her living room must look like, I don't know, a cookie factory.

00:11:07 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, well, Grandma, my sister, has been doing it since they're in Disney World. So she got the easy end of the deal.

00:11:15 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 3:

That's a lot of cookies.

00:11:17 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 5:

Man, do you get something the more cookies that you sell? Do you get like a special patch? Yeah, like tchotchke stuff. Do they?

00:11:25 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 4:

There's, like, laptops and stuff.

00:11:27 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 3:

I mean, but that's if you sell, like, 10,000 cookies. Yeah.

00:11:30 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 5:

Is it Mike? Because I know Cecily. She did well last year. She didn't do so well this year. Why did you not? Can I buy? Can you still buy?

00:11:39 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 4:

I don't know. I don't know. I'm not taking part in it this year. I helped last year, and that's.

00:11:44 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 5:

Oh, are you trying to prove a point now? Yes.

00:11:46 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 4:

Yeah.

00:11:47 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 5:

What's the point?

00:11:48 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 4:

The point is she needs to put in the effort and not let Dad take over. Because while I didn't help, I helped.

00:11:55 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 3:

It's so hard to let him do that, though.

00:11:57 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 4:

I managed it all. I did everything. I answered every single DM. I sent out every single link. Oh, that's right, because you put it on Instagram. That's right. Yeah, and it went through on the air. I didn't even do that. Yeah. It needs to happen this way. She sold like four boxes this year, and that's what it has to be.

00:12:13 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 5:

Do you feel like your daughter has turned into our sales department here at the radio station sometimes? They just need a little extra help. I'm not going to respond to that. Is Cecily Kate Arnold now? I love Kate I love Tessa too Is she going to take us out for cigars

00:12:30 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 3:

I hope so

00:12:31 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 5:

You know what That's a good thing If I had a daughter that was in Girl Scouts I would tell our sales department I'll do a free remote for whoever Goes out and sells the most Cookies for them

00:12:46 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 4:

Last year she went to Family Fair And she did that thing where she stands outside And sells the cookies or whatever So I went and I made this, like, dorky commercial, radio commercial for her and played it there. And I was so excited. And all these people bought cookies. And I'm like, I'm not doing that this year. It's not my thing. Why do you not love your child? I clearly don't.

00:13:06 - 00:13:12 | Speaker 5:

Listen to this. Kay, how many cookies or boxes of cookies did your child sell?

00:13:13 - 00:13:21 | Speaker 7:

So my cousin actually sold above, like, 20,000 boxes one season and went to Italy on a trip. What? Okay, wait a second.

00:13:21 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 3:

We got a canteen and two plastic bowls last year for Lucy selling, and I think she sold like 310 boxes last year.

00:13:29 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, her mom was like our troop leader, and we ended up going to Niagara Falls when we were kids. We went on a bunch of trips.

00:13:36 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my gosh. That's incredible. How?

00:13:40 - 00:13:53 | Speaker 7:

Honestly, her mom was one of those moms that like she didn't work full time, so like that was, she became, it became her full time job. She was on Facebook, Instagram, like anywhere that you could be trying to push Girl Scout cookies, she was pushing them. Wow.

00:13:54 - 00:14:00 | Speaker 3:

That's amazing. God bless her. Even if I didn't work, I'm not pushing Girl Scout cookies. Let's be honest.

00:14:00 - 00:14:03 | Speaker 7:

And then the delivery, like you said, Shannon, with 20,000 boxes.

00:14:03 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God.

00:14:05 - 00:14:07 | Speaker 5:

How much money are each box?

00:14:08 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 3:

I think they're like four bucks, five bucks.

00:14:10 - 00:14:14 | Speaker 5:

So times 20,000? Do the math.

00:14:14 - 00:14:15 | Speaker 3:

You do the math. I can't.

00:14:15 - 00:14:18 | Speaker 6:

We're reading people, all of us, set back.

00:14:18 - 00:14:23 | Speaker 5:

Pull out the calculator. It's a lot. It's a lot of money. It's a lot of trips to Italy.

00:14:23 - 00:14:31 | Speaker 7:

If they're $5 a box, it's $100,000. I know, it's easy, Matt. I still pulled out my calculator, so I wasn't wrong.

00:14:31 - 00:14:38 | Speaker 5:

Brandon, are you there? Yes, I am. I find this to be great. Brandon, guys, tell everybody what you are.

00:14:39 - 00:14:45 | Speaker 2:

I am my troop leader. I am also the product manager and the one in charge of all the cookie sales.

00:14:45 - 00:14:48 | Speaker 5:

Oh, I love this. Are there a lot of dads that do that?

00:14:50 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 2:

Not that I know of. I am, since I've been with our troop, which has been like six years now, I have been the only dad that has been involved that I have seen in any of the troops that we have.

00:15:00 - 00:15:03 | Speaker 6:

interacted with good for you brandon you ever pinch a little off the top just for some lions

00:15:03 - 00:15:27 | Speaker 5:

tickets or something no and last year my two daughters sold over a thousand boxes each and i'm the one in charge of all product sales it is a nightmare because my house from january or from february until april is packed with cookies wow wow um now you do this are you

00:15:27 - 00:15:33 | Speaker 10:

Are you a single dad, or does your wife have other stuff that she's doing, or does mom have other stuff? What's going on?

00:15:33 - 00:15:36 | Speaker 5:

My wife is also our troop leader within the troop.

00:15:37 - 00:15:43 | Speaker 10:

Wow, so you guys both commit to it. Yeah. That's awesome. That's unbelievable. What do you think about it?

00:15:43 - 00:15:51 | Speaker 5:

And I'm the one who's with our troop at every single one of our cookie booths, and sometimes we're at cookie booths for eight hours a day on the weekends.

00:15:51 - 00:15:56 | Speaker 6:

Is there an advantage to have, like, a dad shaking down the other dads on their walk into Home Depot?

00:15:57 - 00:16:12 | Speaker 5:

A lot of people Give credit to me being there Because I am out there with the girls And they think it's awesome Because an actual bear Is taking part in something that normally It's just the mom's doing

00:16:12 - 00:16:31 | Speaker 10:

Although I will tell you this The mom's glare makes me buy All the time Whenever I'm walking into a store and I see them there Hey thank you for the call buddy I appreciate it Congratulations on what you've done Lauren How many trips did you go on Selling Girl Scout cookies?

00:16:32 - 00:16:34 | Speaker 2:

We went on three large trips

00:16:34 - 00:16:35 | Speaker 10:

To where?

00:16:36 - 00:16:55 | Speaker 2:

We went to Hawaii Myrtle Beach and Disney World Are you serious? How many cookies Does it take to go to Hawaii? We used Just the size of the cookies, we did cookies We did other fundraising We did bath bombs and bath kits We did gift wrapping at Christmas time We hustled

00:16:55 - 00:17:01 | Speaker 10:

Guess what Mike's going to start doing I mean, honestly, that's amazing.

00:17:01 - 00:17:12 | Speaker 6:

I mean, my kids like sold a record number. They went crazy. Remember when they were hustling? They came in here and shook down Steve Harvey for a hundred boxes. And they only went to Fort Mackinacalaca.

00:17:13 - 00:17:44 | Speaker 9:
