I'm Mange Shachigular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:00:49 - 00:00:54 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

Alright, it is Mojo in the Morning. Phone number 844-MOJO-LIVE. Kevin, do you want the ladies to give you advice on this? Is that who you're wanting to? How to shake the hand? How to greet?

00:01:43 - 00:02:18 | Speaker 5:

How to do the greeting? I would love some type of advice because I don't feel like I know what to do. I don't know if I was taught this or I just assumed this, but I felt like when you're greeting a woman, you're not supposed to shake their hand in an aggressive manner. And I don't know if there's like a Goldilocks thing where it's like, okay, this is not hot enough, this is too hot, or this is just right. I'm not able to find that just right type of thing. So I ended up just kind of like giving them like a limp handshake. Like it's not even like a firm. I just feel like, I'm not going to say women are delicate flowers, but I just don't think that I should go up to them and just shake their hand.

00:02:18 - 00:02:22 | Speaker 6:

So you saw their reaction. So if a guy softens his handshake for you.

00:02:22 - 00:02:23 | Speaker 7:

I think less of you.

00:02:24 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 6:

Really?

00:02:24 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 8:

Yeah. I actually agree with that. i am a very firm i give a very firm handshake and many times somebody will comment on how firm my handshake is and i i don't know where i i don't know if my dad taught me that or why i do that but so if you gave me a limp handshake back i i think i'd be like what do you think he's a question

00:02:44 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 6:

it if he gives you a limp handshake do you think he's a limp dick no i don't think about that um

00:02:50 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 8:

i honestly don't think he respects me because he's not treating me as an equal interesting i actually hate handshakes i and i know that i am very much in the minority and you have to be

00:03:01 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 5:

careful nowadays but i'm a hugger i'd rather you just give me a hug i would not respecting you as an interesting take because it's not that i don't respect you it's that i respect you enough to like obviously identify that you are a woman it's not like i think you're not capable of doing whatever

00:03:17 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 8:

job you think you're gonna crack my precious fingers if you shake my hand you heard or how

00:03:21 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 7:

hard are you squeezing a man's hand that i will just crumble well it's not that it's just like i

00:03:26 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 5:

don't open doors for men but open doors for women it's not that i think less of you you won't open a door for a guy i mean not no like open your own door like you know what i mean like that's

00:03:35 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 8:

that's the same mentality let me shake it like how would you shake my hand i wouldn't even shake

00:03:42 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 5:

it like that that's fine you should i would be like this no i hate that i hate that gripping

00:03:48 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 7:

the fingers and not giving you a handshake i hate that yeah i'm not about to like shake you like i

00:03:54 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 5:

was taught i was taught give a guy a firm handshake so i'm like i'm not trying to like muscle the man when i do it but i give him more of a firm handshake i just feel like if i do that to you

00:04:03 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 8:

it's like why am i doing anything but that honestly i see i walk away feeling really weird yeah or

00:04:09 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 5:

people who still do the ding fist bump yeah i'm not like to get the fist i hate really what's

00:04:16 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 7:

Of course, the finger grab or the fist bump.

00:04:18 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 8:

They're on the same level. Wait, what's the finger grab?

00:04:21 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 7:

Where a guy just did it. Where you don't handshake, you just grip her finger so she doesn't like hold her hands vertically. Oh, I hate that.

00:04:28 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 5:

Some women love it, though.

00:04:31 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 6:

What about a slap on the ass? Like if a girl, if you guys walked in and instead of giving a handshake, you went, like, you know, you know how you do that to your boys sometimes? Give an ass slap. Well, you just said hug, so I think that could get you in.

00:04:44 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 8:

Hug is different from ass slap.

00:04:45 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 6:

You got to be careful. You got to be careful, though. You can get HR calling you. What's going on, Debbie?

00:04:52 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

Kevin, whenever you give a handshake, you give it like you own it, man or woman.

00:05:00 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 6:

Men, you get a little bit firmer. Women, but you still go in there with a firm handshake. That is your first impression. You throw a little weak handshake, you are a weak man. No way. Firm always.

00:05:12 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 3:

I kind of agree with you on that. I feel like people give you a weird look.

00:05:15 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 6:

Own it. Own it. Don't come in there with the little fingers. Oh, my goodness.

00:05:20 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 2:

I hear you. If I get judged on the type of man that I am based on how I shake a woman's hand, and I guess it wasn't a good interaction, period.

00:05:31 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 6:

Nope, you will. You're first and you're going to go. She's going to feel secure with you. She's going to be like, oh, yeah, he knows what he's doing. He knows.

00:05:39 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. All right. So, Debbie, when you see Kevin, you open up your mouth and say, I'm Debbie, firm handshake lady. Sarah, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning.

00:05:50 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 7:

Who is still shaking hands after COVID? We don't do that anymore.

00:05:54 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 9:

Oh, my God, you're a fist bumper, aren't you?

00:05:56 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 7:

what do you do i have a medical kid and a doctor will not touch you they will not touch you they don't want to touch you they will not get within feet of you there's so much stuff out there don't

00:06:09 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 3:

shake hands we need to do what they do in some cultures where they bow i want to bow at each

00:06:16 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 9:

other it's so much more effective funny in the wake of covid i feel like i am even more like i crave that hug i crave that handshake i crave i'm not waving and you know what it's good for

00:06:28 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 5:

your immune system what's going on natalie hi yeah hi i think this is so ironic because last night my son went in for a hug and he gave me the most lame hug and i said hey there's two things you got to do in life when you go in strong for a nice hug people always remember a good hugger and two you always give somebody a strong handshake and we literally practice how to give a

00:06:49 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 3:

strong handshake natalie i hate when my kids give me the shoulder hug they give me like that

00:06:54 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 5:

like and then they pat your back a little bit and i'm like that's not how you hug your mom

00:06:59 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 3:

give me a hug the best hugger in my family is is joe he gives great hug and luke gives the worst

00:07:06 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 5:

yes like you you remember a good hugger and you're like man that person hugs good and i told last night we just had this conversation i said good hug good strong handshake that's like angel

00:07:18 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 2:

here in the office. She hugs you, man. You remember.

00:07:21 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 10:

I think where I'm coming from is so many times you hear about men being like, well, I'm not comfortable in case anything happens or she says anything. So just shake my hand. It's the most respectful thing to do.

00:07:32 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 3:

I like it. Kayla, what's up?

00:07:35 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 4:

Hi. So I don't know if it comes from like my dad. He's older. He's 70. But the first thing he ever taught me is when you shake someone's hand, you shake it firm and you shake it hard. And now even me, I'm in my 30s and like I shake. It doesn't matter, you know, woman man i take i give a firm handshake and if someone gives me a weak handshake back i'm gonna look at them like they're a weak individual and they're or they're insecure and they're you know confused and when it comes to jobs when it comes to like family it doesn't matter like you shake

00:08:01 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 2:

someone's hand and you do it firm your dad did you right your dad's a smart man kayla go ahead

00:08:06 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 4:

if someone takes my hand yeah if someone takes my hand and they they do a week i'm gonna think they're insecure or you know i don't care if it's a man either like you shake my hand like you would

00:08:15 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 3:

another man you know Kayla say it loud say my name is Kayla and I like it firm and hard

00:08:21 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 4:

yes my name is Kayla and I like it firm and hard where are you from by the way what town are you

00:08:28 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 3:

from um I'm from Lapeer County oh okay all right see that's how they do it in Lapeer County what's up Darian hi hey what's up what's going on guys good morning Kevin gives a limp handshake We just learned, Darian.

00:08:46 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, limp handshake, weird. I hate weird handshakes or whenever it's awkward or somebody goes in for something you didn't plan on. Like they go for a fist bump and you go for a handshake. And then you're just thinking about it all day because it's all awkward. And then you're like, man, what was I actually supposed to do? And is he thinking about it or is she thinking about it also?

00:09:08 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 3:

Hey, what do the ladies of the show think if Darian walks up to you and grabs your hand and kisses it like they do in some cultures, like some English people do? Oh, no. Would you like that? Would you like a hand kiss? No.

00:09:21 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 10:

I don't know. No? I don't know. No, no, no, no, no, no. You're lying. Really? No, no, it's different. You're telling me a stranger walks up to you and grabs your hand and kisses your hands. You lie. At our next rooftop party, I need somebody to come up and do this to Shietta so we can get a genuine reaction.

00:09:40 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 8:

Can we please mark the occasion here and remember the moment of when the guy put out his hand to fist bump Megan and she thought it was a pretend microphone and started talking into it. I forgot about that.

00:09:53 - 00:09:54 | Unknown:

I forgot about that.

00:09:54 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 8:

That was the best awkward handshake ever.

00:09:59 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 9:

The first scene.

00:10:00 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 3:
