00:02:35 - 00:03:09 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, so it's slightly complicated this year because I will be with my family, my side of the family, and my kids on Christmas Eve. And actually, Wes is going to be joining my family for Christmas Eve. And then Christmas morning, I'll be at Andrew's with the kids opening gifts on Christmas morning. And then I'll be with my dad Christmas Day evening. And then on the 27th, we'll travel to Canada where Wes's family is and we'll spend, you know, the rest of the holiday with them.

00:03:09 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 6:

Oh, I forgot.

00:03:10 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 1:

So kind of like all over the place because his family, his siblings are all in Canada. So, yeah, so I'll be there.

00:03:16 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 6:

I forgot that you've got to go to Canada, that Wes is Canadian. And are there any kind of weird things that you guys got to do? Like, do they do weird Christmases in Canada?

00:03:28 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 1:

No, their Christmas is a lot like ours. But it's so funny you say this because Wes's family is Scottish. OK, so his entire family is from Scotland. And so they have a lot of traditions that they that they, you know, have had for years and years and years. And last year I got away with not partaking in one of them. And this year I feel like because it's, you know, it's been over a year and we are in a very committed relationship. I can't, I can't say no thank you to this tradition. They make Scottish breakfast. Okay. And it's like a whole bunch of different things. But one of the things that is part of this Scottish breakfast is called black pudding, blood pudding, black pudding. Have you ever seen it? Wait, black pudding? Okay, well, do you know what's in it? Yeah. Animal blood. Yeah. Like, that's what makes it black. And I don't know why. I'm sure it tastes really good. I can't do it.

00:04:26 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 4:

Sounds like a ritual.

00:04:27 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 1:

I don't know. But, like, and Wes prides himself on making it on Christmas morning for his family, too. And I'm like, oh, gosh. I mean, as, you know, as we move forward in our relationship, he's going to be experiencing my family traditions. And I'm going to be experiencing his. And this is one of his that, like, I can't say no to. It means so much to him.

00:04:47 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 6:

Could you imagine if your sister was dating, Wes?

00:04:49 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, that wouldn't happen.

00:04:50 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 6:

Your sister.

00:04:51 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 1:

My vegan sister.

00:04:52 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 6:

Your sister who won't even let you guys have a turkey on the table at Thanksgiving. You guys have to, like, hide it.

00:04:57 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

He just texted me. He's listening. He goes, you are eating it.

00:05:00 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 2:

It's really good Yeah, I just Last year, his brother's a chef And he made it And I kind of put a little bite in my mouth I don't know It just freaks me out what it is

00:05:16 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 5:

Do you have to light candles in a star when you eat this? No Is it baby's blood?

00:05:22 - 00:05:25 | Speaker 2:

No, it's like I don't even know what the heck it is

00:05:25 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 5:

They all put on black outfits

00:05:27 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 2:

It's probably goat or sheep Or maybe pig He makes it I just texted him What's in it

00:05:32 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 5:

So it's nothing weird Like a It's not a weird ritual It's actually just a No it's like

00:05:37 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

Their tradition But you know You've got to start Partaking in their In his I have to start Partaking in his Traditions

00:05:42 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 5:

Isn't it wild

00:05:44 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 2:

This one makes me

00:05:45 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 5:

It's wild when you Actually start dating Someone or marrying Somebody going to That next level And then their Traditions They start bringing Them into play And you're like Oh my god That's tradition Like the food items And stuff Like, I will never forget when Chelsea's grandfather married his wife. They're now divorced, thank God, because I used to have to eat stuffing with nuts in it. Who puts nuts in stuffing?

00:06:13 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 4:

Okay, that's wrong.

00:06:15 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 5:

I actually said to Chelsea, I go, I hate to say this, but I hope this relationship doesn't last for this reason. No, I'm just kidding. It was awful, though. I remember eating it the first time going, oh, my God, what is that? But I remember when I brought Chelsea to go to Chicago for the first time to go have a holiday with my family, and I remember we were all raving about how great our food was. And I looked over at Chelsea, and she was not as raving as us. Like, you don't, you know what I mean? Yeah. Like, I'm sure Wes loves the blood pudding because it's wonderful, and then you might taste it and go, oh. But then again, you haven't tasted it yet. You might love it.

00:06:49 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 2:

He said he already bought it. It's cow's blood, and he went to the butcher to get it. So he's all ready to go.

00:06:55 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 5:

Ask him if it's sweet.

00:06:56 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 2:

It's not sweet. It's like rich.

00:06:59 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 5:

It's rich. Yes. Yeah, yes. Rich like Megan.

00:07:02 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 4:

It's like a rich woman.

00:07:06 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 5:

Liam, hi, have you tried this before?

00:07:09 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 4:

I'm Irish. It's a normal breakfast for us. Oh, really?

00:07:12 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 5:

It's a breakfast item?

00:07:14 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, so black pudding is congealed pig's blood mixed with fat. And you normally, it comes like a sausage. You slice it and you fry it. Yes. And that with sausages and bacon and so on for breakfast is probably the best meal you'll ever eat.

00:07:31 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 5:

Anytime that you have anything caju, are you single? It's good. Trust me. Sorry? Are you single? Megan would like to know.

00:07:39 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 4:

No. Every time I've called before because I was born.

00:07:45 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 5:

She hits on everybody that calls.

00:07:49 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 4:

No, I just don't want it specifically Irish, but any sort of European.

00:07:53 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 5:

Megan will actually give you her blood If you What's up Rob

00:08:03 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 3:

Hey how's it going

00:08:05 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 5:

How you doing What's the food item That when you get in a relationship You're like oh boy

00:08:11 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 3:

Yeah so I'm not supposed to be here Stop for a second

00:08:17 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 5:

Put your hand out the window You got a bad cell connection Go ahead say that again

00:08:22 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 3:

No, I said I'm induced. I'm not supposed to be near any of this or touch or hear or talk about it. My family is foolish, and they do duck blood soup.

00:08:33 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 5:

Duck blood soup. Duck blood soup. Yeah.

00:08:35 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:08:36 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Okay.

00:08:37 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 3:

Interesting.

00:08:38 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 5:

I forgot about that. Maybe Shannon can actually say that it's against her religion to have this blood. Tell them that you are vegan. You want vegan blood soup. What's going on, Rick?

00:08:52 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, he already commented about the duck blood soup in Polish. It's called chadnina.

00:08:58 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 5:

Chadnina.

00:08:59 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 1:

That's it. It's duck blood soup, yep.

00:09:01 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 5:

Is it good?

00:09:03 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 1:

I don't like it.

00:09:04 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 5:

Yeah?

00:09:05 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:09:05 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 5:

What do you think Shannon's excuse can be to give to...

00:09:08 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 2:

I don't really think I have an excuse. The only thing I've got going for me is Wes's daughter, Sam, doesn't really like it either. She thinks it tastes like dirt. So I might just sit next to her and maybe we can figure out a way to fake it. Is there a dog around?

00:09:22 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, there you go. You know what you do? It's interesting. You like meat, so you like a big steak and stuff? Yeah. And you like a big steak with like a...

00:09:31 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

But I don't like my steak rare.

00:09:34 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 5:

Oh, really? No. No, no, no, no. You don't eat it like all done, do you?

00:09:38 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I like it cooked.

00:09:41 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 5:

That's awful. Wow. Wes, you have better taste than this woman. You can do so much better, my friend. And, well, enjoy your duck blood, Sue.

00:09:52 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 2:

Not duck blood. Cow's blood.

00:09:54 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

Oh, cow's blood. Yes. Yeah, I think I'd rather have a cow's blood than duck's blood.

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 6:

I don't know why, but it just, to me, would be fine. Nicole, hello.

00:10:06 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 10:

Hello.

00:10:07 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 6:

Hi, what was the awful food item that you had to eat because you got into a relationship with someone?

00:10:12 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 10:

Oh, my goodness. My ex-mother-in-law used to make mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving, but she boiled hard, boiled eggs, cut them up, and put them in the mashed potatoes. What?

00:10:24 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 6:

Oh, my God, that's crazy.

00:10:26 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. It's strange. Like, it doesn't sound bad to me. It's just strange. I would eat that

00:10:31 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 9:

I was not expecting it

00:10:33 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 10:

That's an unnecessary texture combo

00:10:35 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 6:

Yeah

00:10:36 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 10:

Absolutely, it's not good

00:10:38 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 6:

Did you do what Megan said And feed it to the dogs or something like that Put it on your plate and leave it there

00:10:45 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 9:

No I took a little bite and then politely Decline the rest

00:10:50 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 6:

Somebody brings up a really good point on what you can do To make the Cow's blood Soup taste better, what do you do Diane?

00:10:59 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 8:

It's not soup.

00:11:00 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 6:

Or whatever it is. Pudding.

00:11:01 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 8:

Oh, this is not for the soup. This is for the black pudding? Yes. Shannon, just put a lot of ketchup on it.

00:11:08 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 7:

Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I could do that.

00:11:12 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 6:

Or Jets Pizza Ranch. Bring a bunch of Jets Pizza Ranch with you, because you can dip Jets Pizza Ranch.

00:11:20 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 7:

This is what it looks like. It looks like a sausage patty. It doesn't look like pudding. Oh. Even though it's called pudding, it looks like a dark black, dark red sausage patty.

00:11:30 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 6:

Diane, be careful. You stay on the phone with me long enough. We're going to have Megan hitting on you.

00:11:35 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 8:

Well, tell Shannon to tell Wes that I'm Scottish, too. I was born and bred there, and I make a really good Scottish shortbread. Oh, okay. And I actually won first place with the Scottish Highland Games in Livonia.

00:11:54 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 6:

Stop it. I love that.

00:11:56 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 7:

You sound just like his Nana, by the way. Where do you keep your trophy?

00:11:59 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 6:

Where's your trophy for that?

00:12:02 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 8:

My trophy?

00:12:03 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, did you get a trophy or anything for that?

00:12:06 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 8:

I did. It's like a pewter plate.

00:12:09 - 00:12:22 | Speaker 6:

Oh, that's nice. That's nice. All right. Well, thank you for the call. Thank you. Merry Christmas. What do they celebrate in Scotland? Do they celebrate? Oh, they celebrate Christmas. What do you call Santa Claus in Scotland? Ho, ho, man.

00:12:23 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, Santa Claus. What's wrong with you?

00:12:25 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 1:

I've had a Scottish breakfast, too. Say that again?

00:12:28 - 00:12:28 | Speaker 6:

I'm sorry, what did you say?

00:12:29 - 00:12:34 | Speaker 1:

Colleen Grant. She's had a Scottish breakfast or what we're talking about. Oh, really? Our boss?

00:12:34 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 7:

Our big boss, yeah.

00:12:36 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 4:

The blood casserole? Yeah. I'm like... Is that what it is?

00:12:40 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 5:
