I'm Mange Shachigular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:00:49 - 00:00:54 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:00:54 - 00:01:00 | Speaker 5:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

All right, much better. Good morning is Mojo in the Morning. I think having Halloween on a Thursday requires a Friday morning off. I don't care what you say, boss, but I feel like we're all exhausted from what was a great Halloween. The weather was perfect, too.

Jelly Roll tickets coming up, lots of throwbacks. And get ready this morning here on the Mojo in the Morning Show because we may leave at 8 o'clock. We may actually just go, we're out of here. These guys are cleaning out our offices that we're about to move out of, and I think they may have to take the control board. I wouldn't be surprised. They've been, like, taking stuff out of here. Like, the moving truck is out in front. Here we go. We can. We can.

00:03:40 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 3:

00:04:34 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 3:

00:04:36 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 8:

this is the mojo in the morning show

00:04:41 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 3:

this is the mojo in the morning show this is the mojo in the morning show this is the mojo in the morning show this is the mojo in the morning show I just saw my life flash in the front of my eyes.

00:05:04 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 4:

You actually chucked that candy.

00:05:06 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 3:

Three pounds of candy just came flying at me.

00:05:09 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 2:

King size, baby. King size. We should have came to your neighborhood. By the way, I got to tell you something.

00:05:14 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 4:

I've never seen somebody eat a Snickers so messy.

00:05:16 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 2:

Hey, if you came to my door last night, come up and call us, okay? I want to say hi to you. I had more listeners showing up last night. I had people. This is the greatest. What? I had people come from, and I live in West Bloomfield. I had people come from Wixom, Southfield. There was one particular person that came to my house, and they're like, I've never been in this neighborhood. It's really nice. I'm like, oh, where are you from? I'm thinking they're in the sub right behind us. They're like, I don't know, my mom dropped me off at the corner street. I'm like, it's back. Halloween is back, guys.

00:05:51 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 1:

And I'm sure you were very welcoming, but how the hell, like Shady said, do they know who you live?

00:05:57 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 2:

I don't know. It was great. Well, I think some people had no clue, and then you open up the door, and you're like, hey, and they're like, oh, my God. Like, they freak out, which was kind of cool.

00:06:07 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 3:

I actually, I posted your address. Oh, there we go. That's why you should follow me on Instagram. You never know what you might get.

00:06:18 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 2:

I'm going to tell you that it was crazy. It was pretty crazy, and we had a lot. Can I just go off for one second, though?

00:06:26 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, because then I can keep eating this candy.

00:06:29 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 2:

Parents, let your kids walk. There were parents whose kids were in wagons. There were parents whose kids were in strollers. And I was like, wait a second. This is the time when your kid actually needs to go out and get himself a little bit of exercise. I used to make my kids, I would stand on the street and I would be at the curbside and I'd be like, you got to run up there. Get up and get your candy. I'm going to be honest with you though.

00:06:54 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 1:

Some of these neighborhoods, especially like the rich neighborhoods.

00:06:57 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 2:

What did you choose? Was that a Milky Way or a Snickers?

00:06:59 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 1:

I haven't had a Milky Way in so long. Aren't they so good? That boy was fire, doc. But we went out to like my cousin's neighborhood. He's staying in Farmington. Then they got like a, they live in a nice subdivision. Then you walk a little bit and it's like an even nicer subdivision. The even nicer subdivision people, y'all have got, they got these long ass driveways where it's not only, So they got the huge front yard, and it's disrespectful, air quotes, to run up somebody's grass.

00:07:27 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 3:

Not on Halloween.

00:07:28 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 1:

I feel you. But at the same time, they got a long-ass driveway. Then they got a long-ass walkway to get to the door. Just bring a table in the middle of the driveway. Why do I have to walk 50 yards for three pieces of mini Kit Kats?

00:07:41 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 2:

So you're saying that we have to come to you. That's the DoorDash mentality right now.

00:07:46 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 3:

Meet me halfway. We need to bring back toilet papering people. It does no real damage. It's just annoying. and some people need to learn a lesson. And I haven't seen a house be TP'd in a very long time.

00:07:56 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 4:

Oh gosh, come to my neighborhood. They do it for like swim finals. Every other house in the neighborhood is just white everywhere. Did you ever do it? I did it once. I've never toilet papered a house. It's bucket list for me. It's so much fun. Yeah. My kids last night, I was so proud of them because normally they do like a street or two and they're like, we're good. We're going to go back to the house. You guys, last night, it was like still, it was nine o'clock and they were still going strong. Oh my God. I was so proud of them. I was pulling a wagon so they were dumping their candy into the wagon so that their bags were a little bit lighter so they could run even further and faster into more house. I was...

00:08:33 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 2:

Shannon, that's old school.

00:08:34 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 4:

Honestly, I was so proud and then when it was time to go back, Lucy was like, I'm not done. I still see houses with lights on over there. I was like, well, let's go.

00:08:43 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 2:

I was making, because I didn't think we were going to have many trick-or-treaters and I was making parents take candy too, which they loved it because they're going to steal it from their kids anyway. But they were excited about that. They were like, oh, this is great. And they said that a lot of the homes were giving out candy. A lot of people had lights on, which is good.

00:09:04 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 4:

I loved my neighborhood. There were so many, quote unquote, treats for the parents, like coolers of beer, or there were tables set up that said, Happy Jalavino. And you got to pick what wine you wanted. I was like, I will never move out of this neighborhood because of how great Halloween

00:09:17 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 3:

is here. So is the theme song of Halloween 2024, The Boys Are Back in Town?

00:09:21 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 2:

It could be, yeah. By the way, will you share with the audience? You came in. I was like, I have the

00:09:27 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 4:

worst headache. Yeah. And like the kids were over-served candy. I was over-served.

00:09:32 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 2:

Wine. Do you know what I did yesterday? I didn't get candy until yesterday. I text Chelsea and I said, hey, did you get candy? And she goes, no, I thought you got candy. And so yesterday I'm pulling in my driveway. I'm like, what do I do? Do I go back out? I ended up Instacarting from Costco candy bars and can I tell you how great that was like the idea that you can now you can't you have no excuse I couldn't go to the store or the store ran out of candy which by the way they did

00:10:00 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 5:

Really? Yeah. I talked to my friend who was one of the managers over at the Kroger Novi. You know everybody. Well, attention Kroger shoppers today with your Kroger Plus card. He said that their candy aisle was destroyed. It was gone. Everybody had it.

00:10:19 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 6:

My dad and my stepmom were handing out candy. My mom was there, too, for us while we were trick-or-treating with the kids. Excuse me. And he said that they got really close to running out, and he was getting word. He's like, I was about to hand out rice cakes. We were going to be that house. I didn't know what else to grab.

00:10:34 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 5:

Do you remember when we were kids and we would go trick-or-treating and there was the house where the guy would give out like soy sauce packages or he would give out like Taco Bell, yeah.

00:10:44 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 4:

You just knew he was going through a divorce. He had to be, right? I'm Mungish Hatikular and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive.
