Moto Casino. America's social casino. Mojo in the morning show. I've been waiting for this next topic all morning long because we were all witnessing kind of what was going on when we heard her on the phone. Lydia, who answers your calls when you call 844-665-6548-844-MOJO-LIVE, or she may call you if you text us and try to get you on the radio with us so we were all on a conference call talking and your family was having a little celebration a little birthday celebration that they started without you yeah so when as we were

00:02:54 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 4:

on the call I heard it I heard everyone singing happy birthday and I was so confused because we were all gathering for Palm Sunday like it was just a nice little family gathering nobody mentioned birthdays or anything so I was really intrigued as soon as we hopped off the call and I come into the kitchen and i see a birthday cake on the table but it's not just any birthday cake it's my deceased uncle who's on this cake my family was singing happy birthday to him

00:03:23 - 00:03:36 | Speaker 6:

how long has your uncle been passed nine years oh my gosh and they still celebrate his birthday yeah i mean and but they do it and they do it with a cake yeah they did it with a cake and

00:03:36 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 4:

they had candles and everything so i sent a photo to our group chat wait that cake's beautiful beautiful that's fancier than any birthday but there was no candles in it at the time but my younger cousin i guess had blown out the candles and everything for him all right so so this

00:03:51 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 6:

interesting because i see people all the time put uh posts up on social media of happy heavenly birthday yeah to their family members yeah and they'll put those up there which you know is remembering the person that passed and on their birthday um but i've never known of anybody that actually will throw a birthday party or do that for them is that a chaldean thing usually we don't

00:04:14 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 4:

do birthdays we just honor them at weddings so we'll do like a little table with their photos yeah yeah light some candles but that's it but i've heard that now it's becoming more of a common thing to celebrate their birthdays and have them at baby showers and engagements wait i'm sorry

00:04:29 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 6:

when you say you put them at the table um do you actually do it like they do for the oscars where they have the celebrities like card that's sitting there in the seat as a seat filler for them or

00:04:40 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 4:

it's like it'll be like the seat and then right above the seat on the table is their photo I saw

00:04:45 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 3:

this is what I was going to ask you I saw this a couple of months ago my fans say Wes and I went out to dinner and there was this like big get together probably like a table of 10 or 12 people and I thought oh it must be somebody's birthday they're celebrating something you could tell because there were balloons.

00:05:00 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 2:

and presents and stuff and everybody was seated around a seat that didn't have a person in it but it had a picture frame of somebody i don't i don't know who i'm assuming who had

00:05:12 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 1:

passed yeah i yeah i by the way i want to be invited to a party for a dead person is there any way i can get a do you have to buy a gift when i die i want all of you guys to throw oh don't even say that i don't even want to put that in the air right there a Weekend at Bernie's style. That's how. Yes.

00:05:28 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 5:

No. Yeah, they have.

00:05:30 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 1:

It has to be better than just a picture of them. I want the actual full on body there. The embalmed body right there at the table so that we can celebrate that. Or, I don't know. That's weird. I don't know. I don't want to say it's weird because her family's listening right now. The birthday cake thing is. What flavor was the cake? It looks delicious. I don't know.

00:05:51 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 2:

It's like gold, metallic frosting. Honestly.

00:05:55 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 1:

It's nicer than any cake I've got in the line. I mean, that's really nice. Teresa, what's going on?

00:06:01 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 2:

Hi.

00:06:02 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 1:

Hi, Teresa.

00:06:03 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 2:

So I had a friend of mine who passed away, and it was really sad. Her Facebook was open. And the Facebook actually sent me, right around her birthday, this personal message. And when I opened it, I was really confused because I know she'd been past a year. And it was like this advertisement for a sale. And I thought, oh, my gosh, you know, Bernadette in heaven is even trying to get me a good deal.

00:06:29 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 4:

But that had to make you smile a little bit.

00:06:32 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 1:

Melanie, what's up? It's Mojo in the Morning.

00:06:35 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 5:

Hey, how are you?

00:06:36 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 1:

We're all right, Melanie. We're talking about Party for the Dead.

00:06:41 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 5:

Yes. Well, you know, we've never had a tragedy in our family. We were saying that. But unfortunately, two years ago, we had one of my cousins pass away in a car accident. He was 30 years old. And so ever since then, we've decided to get all of our cousins together on that side of the family for his birthday, which just happened to be April 1st. So we all met in Great Gaylord, a central location to all of us. And we stayed a couple nights and hung out and partied. And we had a cake and candles and all the little kids and cousins blew it out.

00:07:13 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 1:

See, I like that. I like getting drunk and having fun for that. Yes.

00:07:17 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah.

00:07:18 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. And listen, I'm not opposed to sweets. I'm not opposed to cake and stuff like that and ice cream for a birthday. But I guess you feel jealous, though, that they're like, wow, this is a really nice thing for this person. I wish I would have done it. And I wonder if they do when the person's alive. What's up, Dana?

00:07:37 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. So my dad passed away almost 18 years ago, and he was never able to meet my youngest two children. So I wanted them to be able to know who their poppy was. And every year we bake a birthday cake and go out to his favorite restaurant. And then I'm able to share stories about him and talk about his life. So as they grow up, they're going to know their poppy.

00:08:02 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 1:

Dana, I have to ask this question because I presented this to my sisters and they were not like very into it. With this AI thing, I was contemplating grabbing old videos of my mom who passed when I was 14 years old, and I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if we could, with the whole AI stuff, have my mom talk to us, use her voice and everything? Would you do that with your poppy?

00:08:34 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 3:

I would do it in a heartbeat. If I could have the last voicemail my dad left me, I would still listen to it. I would do it in a heartbeat. I want to have his picture photoshopped into my wedding pictures because I don't have a picture of my dad from my wedding.

00:08:51 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 1:

That's interesting. Yeah, that's an interesting one, too.

00:08:54 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 2:

And you know you can do that. You can do the thing with your mom. No, I know. My sisters don't want to, though. Yeah.

00:09:01 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 1:

My sisters think that it would be kind of weird. But I was going to try to do it Maybe this is the reason why they thought it was weird, Dana I wanted them to say that I was her favorite

00:09:11 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 2:

That makes sense

00:09:14 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 1:

And Pat didn't like that Because Aunt Pat says that she's definitely the favorite So I don't know It didn't go over very well But who's this? Jacqueline? Jacqueline? Kathleen Hi Kathleen That one, Kathleen What's going on?

00:09:33 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 4:

yeah so i just wanted to share so um my grandpa he had passed away but on his 90th birthday um we all went out to his grave site i have a big family and we had um like we all had a beer for

00:09:46 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

him out of his grave site oh i like that we do that sometimes you know that would that would actually be kind of fun like to have that but you got to like set up like a tent in those camper chairs all around.

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 6:

I wonder, would a cemetery be opposed to that and maybe like a bonfire?

00:10:04 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 3:

I don't think you can do a bonfire. They would not be in that?

00:10:08 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 6:

I don't know.

00:10:09 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 3:

But I think a lot of people go out and toast or, you know, it's like the old Irish tradition to pour. I think it's like Guinness, right?

00:10:16 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 6:

What's up, Chelsea?

00:10:19 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 3:

Oh, hi.

00:10:19 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 8:

How are you?

00:10:20 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 6:

Good. What's going on? What did you guys do?

00:10:23 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 8:

So when my great-grandma passed away, shortly after, my grandma got her ashes, but they weren't in an urn. She just had them in a box, and she would bring her out at every holiday, just bring the box out and just set her at the table.

00:10:39 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 6:

I love it.

00:10:39 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 8:

And nothing.

00:10:40 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 6:

And do you guys cheers it? Do you guys ever, like, ding the glass or the bottle of beer or whatever against it?

00:10:47 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 8:

No, just their great-grandma just out with us. In fact, we were just talking about it the other day, just saying, and my grandma said, I don't even know if we had all of her because the box seemed kind of light. And I was like, oh, my gosh. Yeah. So we were just like, here's most of Great Grandma.

00:11:03 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 6:

Wait, where would the other parts of Great Grandma be if they weren't in that box?

00:11:06 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 3:

Well, they only give you a portion.

00:11:09 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 6:

They don't give you the whole person?

00:11:10 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 3:

I don't think they give you the whole person.

00:11:12 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, they do.

00:11:13 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 3:

They've got to. I hope that we have that. I don't know about that. Do they? I don't know.

00:11:18 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 6:

I don't want to.

00:11:19 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 3:

I heard that they only give you a portion of it, of him or her.

00:11:22 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 6:

Really? No. Somebody needs to tell us that.

00:11:24 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 3:

No, they give you a portion. That's BS.

00:11:26 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 6:

No, if they're only giving you a portion, I'm only paying a portion. No, but that.

00:11:31 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, but what do you think happens when they, like, things get smaller? No, I know. I could be wrong. I could be very wrong. Yeah, exactly. Do you think they pick just the parts that they think you want to keep?

00:11:44 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 3:

No, I think they just scoop as many ashes in as the. My grandma's in It looks like a cooler It's like a little mini cooler

00:11:52 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 6:

They better not What like a What kind of Like a Yeti cooler Or

00:11:55 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 3:
