the call I heard it I heard everyone singing happy birthday and I was so confused because we were all gathering for Palm Sunday like it was just a nice little family gathering nobody mentioned birthdays or anything so I was really intrigued as soon as we hopped off the call and I come into the kitchen and I see a birthday cake on the table but it's not just any birthday cake it's my deceased uncle who's on this cake and my family was singing happy birthday to him how long has your uncle been passed nine years oh my gosh and they still celebrate his birthday yeah i mean and but they do it and they do it with a cake yeah they did it with a cake and they have candles and everything so i sent a photo to our group chat wait that cake's beautiful that's fancier than any birthday But there was no candles in it at the time. But my younger cousin, I guess, had blown out the candles and everything for him.

All right. So this is interesting because I see people all the time put posts up on social media of happy heavenly birthday to their family members. Yeah. And they'll put those up there, which, you know, is remembering the person that passed and on their birthday. But I've never known of anybody that actually will throw a birthday party or do that for them.

Is that a Chaldean thing? usually we don't do birthdays we just honor them at weddings so we'll do like a little table with their photos yeah yeah light some candles but that's it but I've heard that now it's becoming more of a common thing to celebrate their birthdays and have them at baby showers and

engagements wait I'm sorry when you say you put them at the table um do you actually do it like they do for the Oscars where they have the celebrities like card there.

It's sitting there in the seat as a seat filler for them?

It's like it'll be like the seat, and then right above the seat on the table is their photo. I saw this. This is what I was going to ask you. I saw this a couple of months ago. My fans say, Wes, and I went out to dinner, and there was this big get-together, probably like a table of 10 or 12 people, and I thought, oh, it must be somebody's birthday. They're celebrating something. You could tell because there were balloons and presents and stuff, and everybody was seated around a seat that didn't have a person in it, but it had a picture frame of somebody. I don't know who. I'm assuming who had passed.

So I had a friend of mine who passed away, and it was really sad. Her Facebook was open, and the Facebook actually sent me, right around her birthday, this personal message. And when I opened it, I was really confused because I know she'd been passed a year, and it was like this advertisement for a sale. And I thought, oh, my gosh, you know, Bernadette and Heaven's even trying to get me a big deal.

But that had to make you smile a little bit.

Yes. Well, you know, we've never had a tragedy in our family. We were saying that, but unfortunately, two years ago, we had one of my cousins pass away in a car accident. He was 30 years old. And so ever since then, we've decided to get all of our cousins together on that side of the family for his birthday, which just happened to be April 1st. So we all met in Great Gaylord, a central location to all of us, and we stayed a couple nights and hung out and partied, and we had a cake and candles, and all the little kids and cousins blew it out.

See, I like that. I like getting drunk and having fun for that.

Yeah. And listen, I'm not opposed to sweets. I'm not opposed to cake and stuff like that and ice cream for a birthday. Right. I guess you feel jealous, though, that they're like, wow, this is a really nice thing for this person. I wish I would have done it, and I wonder if they do when the person's alive. What's up, Dana?

Yeah, so my dad passed away almost 18 years ago, and he was never able to meet my youngest two children. So I wanted them to be able to know who their poppy was. And every year we bake a birthday cake and go out to his favorite restaurant and then I'm able to share stories about him and talk about his life. So as they grow up, they're going to know their copy.

Dana, I have to ask this question because I presented this to my sisters and they were not like very into it. With this AI thing, I was contemplating grabbing old videos of my mom who passed when I was 14 years old. And I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if we could, with the whole AI stuff, have my mom, like, talk to us, like, use her voice and everything. Would you do that with your poppy?

I would do it in a heartbeat. If I could have the last voicemail my dad left me, I would still listen to it. I would do it in a heartbeat. I want to have his picture photoshopped into my wedding pictures because I don't have a picture of my dad from my wedding. That's interesting.
