website for details. This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say. My name is Patrick Pettway

00:01:09 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 3:

and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer when you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man. I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.

Mojo on the Morning Show. Shannon, you've got to tell the babysitter story. We've been talking about doing this on the air for a while, and then we had to make sure that we had okay to do it. But it's Mojo on the Morning Show, 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Did anybody ever have an uncomfortable thing happen to them when they were babysitting?

00:02:23 - 00:03:34 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, and this story came from a conversation that I was having with a bunch of moms from my son Smith's baseball team. And we all were in agreement of the same thing. We were all babysitters, you know, in middle school, high school, college, whatever. When the dad had to take you home, if you were babysitting before you could drive, it was the worst ever because it was always so uncomfortable. So we're talking about that. And then one of my friends said she will never forget the time when she was babysitting. She was 13 years old. She was in eighth grade. The mom and dad that she was sitting for came home pretty drunk, both of them. But apparently the dad was a little less drunk. So he was going to drive her home, okay? Bad from the get-go. So dad, you know, gets into the car. My friend gets into the car. And he puts two cans of beer in the cup holders. in the center console and told her to drink it on their way home and she said she did it because she was scared but of course once she got home she told her mom what had happened and once her mom found out she was never allowed to babysit for that family ever again wait so it wasn't like

00:03:34 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 7:

she was like oh this is great i get to have alcohol no she felt like she was pressured

00:03:41 - 00:03:45 | Speaker 5:

into doing this yeah like he told her drink it before you got home did he do anything else after

00:03:45 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 7:

letting her drink it no that's crazy what a creep what was he still that's really weird and creepy what was his uh um so that was the last time she babysat so it never came her mom yeah her mom

00:03:57 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 5:

forbid her from babysitting for that family ever again man that's uh that's interesting i always

00:04:03 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 7:

think it's interesting in you know when the kids were little we would have babysitters that would babysit for us that were you know girls that didn't drive and i would never go into the house you know by yourself yeah they were i mean i'm like like i just felt uncomfortable going into the house but did they ever um the whole driving thing why would you as a dad why would you as a dad put yourself in a situation where you're driving the kid home you know in this situation is because he was a mom with a boy babysitter or something obviously this is a while ago so this is before the age of uber yeah you know like i would be like all right call your parents have

00:04:42 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

him come pick you up what's up emily how you doing hi good what's going on um i was babysitting one time and it was for a family like um like around the corner from me so the dad the parents came home and they were really drunk and the dad insisted on walking me home even though it was like a block and then he tried to take

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 3:

me like four hundred dollars and i refused because i was like um but no that's what you want

00:05:05 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 2:

why why was he trying to give you four hundred dollars i think he just like pulled a wad of cash

00:05:12 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 3:

out and was like here this is your payment like for the night and i was like no and then he like

00:05:18 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 2:

insisted and then my mom the next day made me go return it so was when you say he was drunk driving you home no walking me home walking you home yeah it's just walking what was the conversation like when you're walking back to your house or you know he's walking you're back he was like stumbling

00:05:35 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 3:

like walking into me oh gosh but he never did anything like sexually inappropriate or said

00:05:42 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 2:

anything no no so it was basically he was drunk giving you money yes and then my mom made me go return it the next day were you were you allowed to babysit for them ever again yeah i babysat for

00:05:54 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 3:

them a few more times yeah it's always awkward though did your rate ever go up since you knew that this guy was giving you money no he it was a normal right after that i think the wife probably

00:06:05 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 6:

found out yeah alexa what's up yeah hi um when i was a nanny i was like 18 years old the father would come out in his boxers and his wiener would be hanging out of the split and at first i thought It was an accident. And then it happened two more times.

00:06:27 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 2:

Wow.

00:06:29 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 6:

Wait, what was it? It was his what? His wiener. What a creep. You guys, these... I like women. I don't even like men. And he knew that. And I'm like, what are you doing?

00:06:48 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 2:

What's up? Is this Isla? it's ayla help me with it i it says ayla on the on the board here i just still for some reason i've never heard of an ayla before but i apologize hi ayla that's okay so i have the worst worst

00:07:06 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

babysitting story it made me never want to babysit again i was babysitting two toddlers and lunchtime was coming around my shift was almost over so it's like let's go find mom and dad well mom and dad worked from home but they had a huge house so we didn't see them very often Well, we walked downstairs, and a little girl just busts open her mom and dad's bedroom, and they're having sex. So I was like, okay, let's go sit down for a little bit. Maybe I'll make you lunch, whatever. We walk out. I go to text my friend who gave me the babysitting job or referred me to them, and I was like, I just walked in on them having sex. That was so awkward. And I ended up texting the mom. Wow. In their house. what did the mom say anything to you later he just laughed it off completely and i never went

00:07:56 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 2:

back again i was so embarrassed who hires a babysitter to have sex with your spouse in the house like who has sex in the house with a babysitter there uh what's going on oh boy hello we got a baby crying right now tina are you babysitting right now no it's my own kid Okay. What's going on?

00:08:18 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 5:

My best friend and I used to babysit for a subdivision that was by our houses. And it came out after we've been babysitting for these people for like a couple years that half the neighbors were having affairs with other neighbors. And they were hiring us so that they could sneak off and have their affairs.

00:08:40 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Wow. Wow. So they would hire babysitters, the neighborhood would, so they would go do their affair things. Or was it like swapping or was it like consensual stuff? No.

00:08:53 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 5:

No, there ended up being several divorces within the neighborhood once it all came out.

00:08:58 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 2:

That's actually a good thing, though. That means that your babysitting rate just went up because now you got more houses to go babysit at.

00:09:05 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 5:

It was, except for the time that the husband came home and didn't know that the wife was out. Oh, boy. She lied about what she was doing.

00:09:14 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 2:

And you had to, like, pretend like you didn't know what the heck was going on.

00:09:18 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 5:

I didn't know what was going on. We were young teenagers and very naive and didn't understand what was happening.

00:09:26 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 2:

Wow.

00:09:27 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 5:

It was not a comfortable situation.

00:09:29 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

Crazy. Uh-oh. Hello, cutie pie. All done. All done now.

00:09:33 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 1:
