but it's so cute by the way so cute it was one of those sweet very proud mom moments um the kids are obsessed with this little pizza place by my house and so we'll ride our bikes up there and it's kind of cool they have um when it's nice outside they have this counter that you can sit and you can eat outside so the kids by the way my kids can like take down some pizza I mean they literally eat more than me so Smith um didn't eat his I don't even know if it was like his second or third piece of pizza so we boxed it up to take home Lucy and I were still finishing and so he he wanted to take his bike and ride it up and down the sidewalk you know right there by where we were sitting, which I always let him do. So at one point he came running over to me and he asked me if he could give his pizza to a homeless man that he saw. And I love that so much. He has such a sweetheart, this little boy. And so he said, but can you come with me to give it to him? Well, of course. So I get up and I grabbed the pizza box and we walk over to, he shows me, you know, where this man is kind of like on the corner of the street and he's sitting on a little staircase but as soon as I saw this man I knew he was not a homeless man oh he's not homeless he's just a sweet old man who was taking a little break from working and just tired he was just tired and he was wearing a face mask and he was doing something on his phone and just enjoying the sunshine and i thought i want to commend smith who's almost six by the way he turns six in a couple of weeks i want to commend him for his you know having a good kind heart but i also had to explain to him we can't you know i said he he's not homeless bubby and he goes well can we still

give him the pizza and i'm like well absolutely you can it's free pizza i i mike if you were

sitting on that. Actually, we didn't give him the pizza.

I would have been offended for like three seconds. Like, you think I'm homeless? But then you would have showed me the pizza and I would have went ah, whatever. It's fine. It was really cute. You know what I would have done, honestly?

If a kid just came up to me and offered a pizza, I'd be like, this kid's the greatest kid in the world. had everything you did you did it's insane it's seriously okay like when you're 140 pound person and you wear like eight layers and you look like you weigh 200 pounds to get on the plane

right you know how people do that when people do that i'm always amazed that they don't pass out on the plane no if you have to ask for the lap extender the lap belt extender just because you have all of your clothes that you're going to wear on your vacation just to save what is it

It's a lot of money for a checked bag, to be fair. It is. Yeah, it's over $100. Yeah. You know, you could buy new outfits when you get there, you know. That's fucking money.

um so i am from spring lake and i don't know if you guys are familiar with like the coast guard festival that happens yes and so i took my son and we were at the carnival and a employee was talking with the kids and all this kind of stuff and it was busy and he looked at me and goes mom why doesn't he have any teeth in his mouth?

Oh, no. And he said it loud enough for them to hear?

Oh, loud enough for literally every parent and the employee to hear. And I thought to myself, okay, this could be a learning experience or this could be a we'll talk about it later and just let's pretend like it didn't happen. But my son is like, he has word vomit all the time. Like, anything he thinks comes out. Um, so I said, well, it could be one of two things. If we don't brush our teeth, like that, that's what could happen or not. Like at that point, I'm like, it's drugs.

Like, Oh no. Wait, you didn't say that in front of him, did you?

I mean, I, I did not have the conversation with, with him that loud for people to hear around me. It was like a bend on one knee kind of, you know, cause kids, my son's old enough. To, like, know that there's bad things that happen in the world.

See, I probably would, honestly, I would have walked away. I would have walked away, and I would have had a conversation with him later. I don't know if I would have done that in the proximity. That could be very hurtful.

He didn't know. The carnival person didn't hear me at all.

Didn't realize that? Yeah.

No, no, no, no, no, no. I'd been down, and I had a conversation with him privately. um and all the parents looked at me and they were like we were so scared that our kid was going to

say the same thing you know you know what the worst is the worst is when your kids will do the comment that they made and then be like i want my teeth to look just like that and you're like going oh okay but you know what if it gets you to the front of the ride and gets you on there I'm fine with it.

But now I feel like, and Mike, I don't know if you agree with me here, you can kind of anticipate it coming. So, like, if I'm in a situation and I see something, you know, like the man with no teeth, I will literally look at Lucian Smith and be like, say nothing. Just say nothing because I know they're thinking it and it's about to come out.

um so this man came in on my restaurant and the bartender was like he's in a wheelchair and he was a little scruffly you know a long beard and everything and he said um do you um you know can you know i was gonna get a menu he's like oh yeah we can get you everything you want my manager can comp your food for you and he's like i'm not i'm not homeless i'm a vet i'm offended i want to see your manager now and so he was pretty yeah he was pretty mad so you were just trying to do

something nice thinking well you know you can then you turn it around and just say to him well you're a vet that let me let me get your uh your food for you what he got really offended he got

really offended we also have another guy that comes in and he does look a little homeless and there's customers that will come in to his table and just give him five dollars you know yeah and and he's like i'm not homeless you know but people just assume because you know i don't know you look scruffily you know beard and don't get kept i don't know you know what's weird um was i remember

one with luke and it wasn't a homeless one but i remember where they thought somebody was homeless it was the um oh uh that daddy's being so nice to uh to his daughter and i look over and the daddy

was not the daddy it was oh god it was the daddy it was the daddy was the daddy and he had his arm

like a rounder and stuff like that and he was kind of like you know different ways like that is so nice like go doing it and he was so young he was kind of like probably like cecily or lucy age. And he said it in such a cute way that honestly it made everybody that was around laugh because they all kind of knew that that was not a good situation.
