All right, it is Mojo in the Morning. has this ever cost somebody their friendship? I have some stuff I need to do around the house. And one of my friends has always been my go-to for those type of jobs. And my only problem is I found someone who I think could possibly do it better and for a lot less money. And this person is like a friend that we go out with a lot. And actually they come over to our house a lot. and my fear is and Chelsea's fear is that if we have somebody else do it it's kind of hard to hide what we're going to have done because he'll notice it come into our house and if he comes in he'll be like oh you guys decided to do something and you didn't ask me to do it for you you know like that's hard like I sit there and I bring this up because I want some advice on has something like this ever cost you a friendship because I know that we live in car capital of the world right and what do you do when you work for one of the car companies and one of your besties or why did i say besties i was gonna say best buddies um best buddies yeah well or besties goes out and buys your competitor's car or even worse buys like the the foreign version of that car you know or like when your fiance has a different

00:02:53 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 7:

radio station programmed as his number one favorite.

00:02:58 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 6:

Wait, wait. What does your fiancee Wes have programmed on his thing?

00:03:02 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 7:

Should I say the radio station? The Bounce.

00:03:05 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 6:

He puts the bounce? Is that 105.1? Yes.

00:03:09 - 00:03:09 | Unknown:

Wow.

00:03:10 - 00:03:11 | Speaker 6:

I knew there was something.

00:03:11 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 7:

This is my music.

00:03:13 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 6:

Classic hits.

00:03:13 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 7:

Red flag. You can still back out.

00:03:16 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 6:

He likes to hear Vanilla Ice a lot.

00:03:17 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 7:

Actually, it's kind of nice because then he's not always hearing when I'm talking about him. Oh, that's actually good. So it saves me some trouble. But, man, support the family business.

00:03:28 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 6:

Well, the hard part is with, you know, having a friend that does what, you know, like, has the car, works in the car company or, in this case, does the work, is that, you know, yeah, you support them and you want to support them. But, you know, you might see somebody that does a little bit better job at it.

00:03:48 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 7:

And if the price is better, I feel like that's what you say, you know.

00:03:51 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 6:

But then he's going to say, why didn't you give me a chance to give you a price? Yeah, that's true. That's true. So it's kind of bad.

00:03:57 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 3:

I just had this happen to him. It was compounded because the person just lost a job. And so they could use the money. And they asked me to help with some things around the house. And I had just hired a professional. But they were like, well, can you cancel that contract? And have me do it. And I was getting a little nervous. Like, well, it's not what the person does every day. It's similar, but it's not the same. And I'm like, this is expensive. I want to make sure it's done right, perfectly. And I already signed a contract, so I don't know if I can even get out of that. So it's kind of like you're asking a lot. I would rather just loan someone the money and help them. Like, I'll give you the money if you need the money, but I want it done right. It's not something that if you mess up, you're going to lose a friendship over.

00:04:41 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

We lost a friend who is a manager of a restaurant that we would go to all the time. and we lost him because we went out to eat at the restaurant that was right like two doors down their biggest competitor and somebody posted a picture of all of us at the table together and they posted the picture.

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 9:

here and he was like, I can't believe you did it. And it was like one of their slower nights that he had. But you can't go to their restaurant

00:05:05 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 4:

all the time. I know. But it was like

00:05:07 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 9:

we were celebrating a big birthday and it was like throwing, you know, like having. That's not fair. I know. But it was like one of those ones where it would have been a good it would have been a good deal for him to go. And he gave us, you know, every time we go there he always gives us free stuff and sometimes that bothers me. I don't like when they're always giving you free stuff. What's up, Travis?

00:05:25 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 8:

Hey, Mojo. How you doing today?

00:05:26 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 9:

Good. What's going on?

00:05:28 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 8:

Hey, as a contractor myself, I have had family and friends have people hired to do work that I could have done. And I don't take that personally. He shouldn't take it personally. If he's your friend, he's got to understand that you could get it cheaper or faster or done better by somebody else. So don't let that weigh on you, buddy.

00:05:48 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 9:

And I feel bad because right now things are tough right now. It was like a couple of, you know, months ago, even before the beginning of the year, where all my contractor friends, you couldn't even get them to do anything for you. And now it seems like everybody stopped doing any work because of the economy.

00:06:04 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 8:

Yeah.

00:06:05 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 9:

So I feel bad.

00:06:07 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 8:

I mean, I wouldn't feel bad, man. He should understand.

00:06:11 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 9:

I drove.

00:06:11 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 8:

Quality is a big thing.

00:06:12 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 7:

I think some of it for Mojo, I know it was for me, some of it might just be self-guilt. Because you really want to help the person and you want to give them the work.

00:06:20 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 9:

Yeah.

00:06:21 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 7:

So it's kind of like, wow, geez, I want to, but you're conflicted with your own feelings.

00:06:25 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 9:

When I moved here, I had a Toyota 4Runner, and I remember pulling into my neighborhood. You know, you come and you move in there and stuff, and I had a GM guy on one side, a Ford person on the other, and a Chrysler person across the street. And they looked at that thing, and that was back when they'd have names for your car if you drove a Japanese car. And I, listen, I bought it because my father-in-law was the manager of a Toyota dealership in Arizona. And I never felt so looked at differently because of that, you know, because you had the car. So, and I ended up getting rid of it. What's up, Quiata? Or Kenyatta?

00:07:09 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

Kenyatta.

00:07:09 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 9:

Yes, Kenyatta.

00:07:11 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 2:

Well, I work before, at work right now and drive a DM.

00:07:15 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 7:

Oh, really? So let me ask you, because I know with a lot of places, they make you park farther away in a different lot. Is that the case at your place?

00:07:25 - 00:07:26 | Unknown:

Yeah, sort of, kind of.

00:07:26 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:07:28 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 2:

And in some places, like my mother used to work at DM, if you were a foreign car, you had to park all the way up against the fence. Yeah.

00:07:37 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 9:

What are you building right there?

00:07:40 - 00:07:41 | Unknown:

Ah, F-150.

00:07:42 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 9:

I love it. Nice. Megan said in her commercial What did you say, Megan? Number one truck or something?

00:07:51 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 5:

Number one selling truck 46 years in a row Ford, baby

00:07:55 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 9:

I used to love Do you remember the old Ford commercials that would run Before the movies at the Star Southfield That were like What's her name? Karen Newman singing the song The the metro detroit ford dealers think ford first that was like the greatest commercials ever

00:08:16 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 4:

i like how intense ford commercials are now with the the hammering of the metal and it's like

00:08:21 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 9:

they're climbing something like rock yeah yeah i thought the good ones the f-150 commercials that

00:08:28 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 7:

had uh that comedian dennis leary voice him they were always good he was like slap a steak on the grill crack open a cold one and you know like you he was like mate he was the guy that was always Hey, pal. I don't know if you remember him. It was the 90s.

00:08:41 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 9:

Those are good commercials. What's up, Amanda? Hi.

00:08:46 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 6:

Hi.

00:08:47 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 9:

What's going on?

00:08:49 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 6:

So my dad actually works at Ford Motor Company, and he said that he's seen and heard of employees that work there pull up in a foreign car, and they will flip the car while you're on your shift.

00:09:03 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 7:

Oh, my God. Still today?

00:09:06 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 3:

Wait, that kind of sucks.

00:09:07 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 7:

I knew that was a big thing in the 80s when times were different, but I didn't think that was such a big deal now.

00:09:13 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 9:

Wow, that's wild. That's wild. Imagine you'd come out and your car slipped over. Dude, I kind of love it. I do, too. I know. I'm going to do that to Wes and Shannon's fiancée for having the bounce on us.

00:09:25 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 4:

If I pull up to you at a red light and you're not playing one of our stations, I'm just going to hate you. We're flipping your car.

00:09:31 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 7:

It's a mojo in the morning phone scam. Coming up at 9.50.
