in the Morning Show. Back from our holiday break. Hope you guys had the absolute best Christmas. uh hanukkah kwanzaa whatever you celebrate if you don't celebrate hopefully you enjoyed uh whatever you did uh and happy new year to you i want to kind of do like a little update on a couple of uh stories this morning since today is our first live show back uh there's some things that we talked about prior to going away for vacation and i wanted to kind of get an update on them And I don't know if there's going to be positive updates or it's going to be a sad update. Who knows? This might be a touching situation or it might be one of those situations that's funny and crazy. But I want to start with you, Shannon. You were going to visit your husband, Wes's family in Canada. and you did a topic prior to us going on vacation about how he had some family drama and there were family members that were not going to be in the same room, right?

00:02:52 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 2:

We were going to have to have separate Christmases, basically, or boxing days, because that's what we were celebrating. And we weren't even sure if we were going to go in the first place because Wes was like, I don't want to be miserable the whole time. This is a lot of driving for us and it's not on me. Like my family, my siblings need to figure their stuff out before we go and we drive all over Canada to have, you know, two different celebrations. So it was his brother not talking to one of his sisters. And they hadn't talked in, it was almost two years at this point. To the point that his brother didn't even come to our wedding because he knew his sister was going to be there. I mean, it was bad.

00:03:31 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 9:

It was really bad. They didn't like each, which is wild because there are some family members that I don't like. But my brothers and sisters are my brothers and sisters. It's hard not to like your brothers and sisters.

00:03:41 - 00:03:45 | Speaker 3:

It's okay to cut some people. Not brothers and sisters. I mean, it depends on what happened, though. It could have been that bad.

00:03:46 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 2:

It's private to them. I don't want to get into what caused them to not speak. But we decided we were going to go to Toronto. They all live in different suburbs of Toronto. We decided to make it a little bit of a vacation for ourselves. And we stayed in a hotel in Toronto just in case like spit hit the fan. And then we we at least could enjoy the city because normally we stay out in the suburbs. We get different hotels by their homes.

00:04:14 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 9:

Would it look like you're picking sides, too, if you chose to say it once over another?

00:04:17 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 2:

We were so careful about how we did it.

00:04:20 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 9:

And then you have to be careful because then you get brought into the conversation and the drama. And I know Wes is a peacemaker, right?

00:04:26 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 2:

Which he did not want to happen. So we...

00:04:29 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 9:

Quick question real quick before you tell us what's going on.

00:04:31 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:04:32 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 9:

They don't celebrate Christmas there? They call it Boxing Day?

00:04:34 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 2:

They do, but we...

00:04:35 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 9:

What is Boxing Day?

00:04:35 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 2:

The day after Christmas. The day after Christmas. So we go on the 26th.

00:04:38 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 9:

Does that have to do with boxes of gifts? So it's not like they're actually fighting with each other? No.

00:04:42 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 2:

Because this would be appropriate for what is going on here right now.

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 9:

They should actually be doing that.

00:04:49 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

And there were no physical obstacles. This was just not talking. It's not Santa Claus. It's not King. We get to Canada. We check into our hotel. We drive a little ways.

00:05:00 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 1:

his sister's house for the the first celebration and this is the sister that is part of this this standoff right so we knew who we were going to see that night we were going to spend time with his one sister and her family and maybe one or two of Wes's friends and so we we get in the door I pour myself a glass wine we sit down we get ready for dinner because we had ordered Chinese We were waiting for the Chinese to arrive. The doorbell rings. Somebody goes to answer the door. The rest of us are staying in the kitchen. And in walks Wes's brother. Wow. Totally unannounced to anybody. And he comes in and his sister sees him and immediately gets very upset and starts to cry and walks out of the room. How did he know that this was going on? Well, he knew because the rest of the siblings were there. And so it is complete silence as he's standing there. He walks in. I'm the idiot that goes. Because I'm so shocked that he's there. And after a while, his sister comes back in and he looked at her and said, I love you. This is dumb. Wow. It's over with. We're not looking into the past. We are only looking forward. And he grabbed her hand and said, I love you. Big of him. And for sure, and they gave each other a hug, and that was that. They hung out together. They sat on the couch in a corner of the living room and just like caught up all night long. I mean, it was, Wes was a dang mess.

00:06:40 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 3:

They cut each other all night? What did you say? Oh, caught up. They said caught up.

00:06:43 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, so it was good. It was, I texted you guys. I was like, you guys. Yeah, that's incredible. Guess who just showed up at the door? It was like a Hallmark movie. That's crazy. He just came in. Nobody knew who he was coming. Yep. it was bad at first for about 10 minutes and then it was good and west had not had any communication

00:07:00 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 3:

with her like the brother to say hey come on you should just come here or the sister do this well

00:07:05 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

everybody had been has been trying to do that for years yeah like just come like mom they're you know their mom has passed they're like mom would hate that this what they say mom because they're very scottish uh mom would hate this to not see us all together for holidays and weddings and and And so something clicked and they were all together. I just got his people talking. He's like, I bloody missed you. Dude, some of his family, like his Nana, who passed away last year around this time, I couldn't even understand her. That's how heavy her accent was.

00:07:37 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 3:

So this is like, this truly is an awesome thing.

00:07:41 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 1:

I mean, it was a beautiful moment to witness.

00:07:46 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 3:

That's a God moment because I got to tell you something, that there's some times where you see something like this pull a family apart. And it, to me, seems like if it wasn't for the holidays, like if this was Fourth of July or whenever they celebrate in Canada. Yeah. If this was like something like that, like a summertime celebration, would that have brought them together? Or was it that it's the Christmas season and it obviously meant something to Wes's mom?

00:08:10 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 1:

Well, yeah. And even crazier was the next day was the was the celebration number two that we were going to go to to appease him. So everybody showed up to that, too. Yeah. So two days in a row, all four siblings were together. It was really cool.

00:08:24 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 3:

Did it make you guys want to, like, because I know that, you know, initially it was, all right, we're going to go stay in the hotel. We'll make it a vacation. We won't deal with this. Did it make you guys go, all right, we got to, like, all now get together? No, we stayed in the hotel. No, you stayed in the hotel.

00:08:37 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 2:

No sleepovers.

00:08:39 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 1:

We were not budging from that hotel.

00:08:43 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. We paid big money for this hotel.

00:08:45 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 1:

It was beautiful, except we're staying at the hotel. Yeah.

00:08:49 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 3:

That's great, Shannon. By the way, to Wes's brother, and I don't know, do they ever, do they know what we do? Or do they know what you do?

00:08:56 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 1:

Yes, but they really don't listen.

00:09:00 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 3:

Did you say, did you tell them that you talked about this on the radio?

00:09:02 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 1:

Mm-mm.

00:09:02 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 3:

So you didn't say anything? Oh, because you didn't want them to, like, know they were talking. But if he ever does come across this, great job, man. And you know what? To his sister, awesome in accepting that. Because it's, you know, I don't know what their situation was and what this grievance was about. but um you know there's got to be two sides to be able to pull together and i i will bet you guys that uh that your mom was dancing in heaven uh enjoying every single more moment of that drinking scotch probably i don't know do they drink scotch in scotland or i don't know what what they i mean

00:09:37 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 1:

i would think it's called scotch you bring up a really interesting point because i think in most

00:09:42 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 2:

cases where there is a rift or there are grievances deep down both parties want to put that aside and i would say more often than not that the thing can't be that big the love i feel like the love is stronger than hate and anytime if you lean in that direction all right yeah i want i want more

00:09:57 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

feel good because it's like almost like tell me something good how

00:10:00 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 1:

did the holidays make you guys, you and your family or you and a person that you were not talking to, how did it bring you guys together? Because I think that the holidays sometimes does one of two things. It pulls you apart or it brings you, in this case, together. And hopefully it's the latter. But I do think that sometimes it becomes like the spirit of maybe the season makes you go, you know what? I haven't talked to somebody in such a long time that we had a last disagreement with and i to me i like that that about it like i think that that's i think that's

00:10:33 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 3:

a beautiful thing i also got to meet west's childhood best friend for the first time tell us while we're waiting to get calls this dude i did not think existed i thought west he was like an invisible friend that west talked about wildman i was like i've never met him his name's jason wildman and they call him wildman but like i wasn't around when he came to town to visit like once or twice he didn't come to our wedding he's like a very um like blue collar guy and so if he can pick up a shift at work and get overtime he does and that's very important to him and i understand that but so i've never our paths have just never crossed i finally got to meet him and i'm like you are real you're not ai i will feel that way when we finally meet the woman that mojo

00:11:13 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 1:

was in love with in high school i'm not sure it was it or or the lovable cheerleader remember That's what I mean.

00:11:23 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 3:

Nancy.

00:11:24 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 1:

You guys make fun of me. Both AI. Nancy and Wildman and I used to hang out with each other. Did he have any crazy stories about Wess?

00:11:33 - 00:11:39 | Speaker 3:

Oh, tons. But he walked through the door and I was like, ooh, dang. He's real cute. He is. He's very cute.

00:11:39 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 1:

Here's a texter. I'll cry if I tell this story, but my dad and I haven't talked since my mom passed away 10 years ago. I called him because he was going to be spending Christmas by himself. we ended up spending the entire week together that's awesome that's that's cool and it's just the the thought of that and then uh a bunch of callers here 586 says too many tears on a monday morning i'm crying listening to shannon and then another person here that said uh that story is just so sweet i don't have a story to tell like it but that is so sweet um that is uh You know, 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548, or text 95500. I mean, one story that I would love if we, I mean, you know, maybe I can segue into this. And actually, it may not be a bad time to segue into it now because we're waiting on calls and stuff. But Kev had that moment. The holidays brought him and Josiah's mom together. Yeah, man. And they spent the night together. Okay, roll on. No, the three of you guys.

00:12:45 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 3:

I have been waiting to hear how this went.

00:12:48 - 00:12:55 | Speaker 1:

It was the night before Christmas. It was. And all through the house, dad and mom were finally there with Josiah.

00:12:55 - 00:14:17 | Speaker 2:

Josiah has never had the opportunity to wake up on Christmas Day and see both of his mom and dad in the same room. Ever, right? Ever, ever since birth. he's always had it to where he would have to come over my house later where i would have to spend christmas eve with him and we would open up presents but we had to put our childish ways aside quit being selfish quit being petty quit making it about us and really say you know what let's do this for josiah and not have any out influences no other relationship influences nobody else just our minds making our decisions and we say you know forget it jasmine can i come over and she was like yeah sure no pushback from her i went over we played games she made some dog ass chili like it was a it was a great time and just uh where'd you sleep i slept on the couch slept on the couch she slept in her room joe slept in you know everything was good i didn't see no you know no nipples no no no no no grabbing because i wasn't gonna ask that nipples were not part of my question for this topic did you guys wait did you guys drink the night before um she i believe she's sober okay yeah so she's not drinking she's on a journey right now she has been for the last two years yeah for real so okay because if alcohol was

00:14:17 - 00:14:22 | Speaker 1:

involved who knows what would happen you get a little alcohol and kevin he starts humping my

00:14:22 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 2:

leg man that has never happened but look so here's the thing so josiah was so like you can just tell how not necessarily how jittery he was but how like excited he was you know kids get excited start running all over the place start talking a million miles he was so happy that we were doing this he wanted to do a group hug and all of that so for new year's eve what do you guys do when you do a group hug it's a little awkward at first it's kind of like it's kind of like i mean we don't have any physical interaction his mother and i like we're not like physical beat like we don't hug each other kiss each other in cheek anything like that so it is a little weird to like, okay, let's go.

00:15:00 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 3:

But we don't say no or anything like that.

00:15:02 - 00:15:04 | Speaker 4:

How long were you in a relationship with her before Josiah?

00:15:04 - 00:15:05 | Speaker 3:

I don't think we were ever in a relationship.

00:15:06 - 00:15:24 | Speaker 4:

We was just smashing. Oh, okay. Yeah. So that's, okay. So, because that is, you know, it's funny. It's one of those things where I've always wondered if there was, like, a relationship there that, and I guess, obviously, there was a great relationship, but it was the night that Josiah was, or day.

00:15:25 - 00:15:30 | Speaker 3:

The back of a car? Where was it? It could have been, my Grand Prix done seen some things.

00:15:30 - 00:15:30 | Speaker 4:

Really?

00:15:30 - 00:15:56 | Speaker 3:

But look, an amazing point to that, I said, you know, because she had Josiah Christmas Eve technically, and I was supposed to have him Christmas Day, and then she would have had him New Year's Eve. And I said, you know what, let's bring in New Year's Eve the same way that we brought in Christmas Eve. This time, you come over to my place. Wait. Come over, and let's count down together and have Josiah. Like, it was so bad. Did she go home then afterwards, or stay the night? She slept on the couch and then left in the morning.

00:15:56 - 00:15:57 | Speaker 4:

Oh, wow. Wow.

00:15:57 - 00:15:58 | Speaker 2:

For you guys, I love hearing that.

00:15:58 - 00:16:09 | Speaker 4:

That is actually really cool. So do you think Josiah gets it that you guys are, this is not you guys trying to get back? Trying to get back, because I know that there was that thought that he's had as a kid.

00:16:10 - 00:16:25 | Speaker 3:

And I feel like I've done a great job, and I'm sure she has as well. And collectively, I think we may have touched it, but having gone in depth with the conversation that this is what we're just trying to do for Josiah, and not that we're trying to make a relationship, but with children, you never know what's in the back of their mind.

00:16:25 - 00:16:28 | Speaker 2:

Does he know that you guys were never, like, really in a relationship?

00:16:29 - 00:16:32 | Speaker 3:

I believe he does, yeah. I try to talk to Josiah like I'm talking to y'all. Like, he knows.

00:16:33 - 00:17:00 | Speaker 4:

As a kid, I wonder if that would matter to you at all. Like, I wonder if that would make you go, oh, so you were just basically the hookup friends or something like that. I don't know. But I think at this point right now, you're his mom and, or you're his dad and Jasmine is a big vacation for you. Hold on. So Misfit Nicole, this is a lot of emotional stuff, recaps of our holidays. What's going on, Nicole?

00:17:01 - 00:17:04 | Speaker 2:

Yes, it is. Happy New Year, everyone. Happy New Year.

00:17:05 - 00:17:06 | Speaker 4:

What's happening?

00:17:07 - 00:17:21 | Speaker 2:

So listen, I was listening and I was driving to work, and I was listening to Kevin's story, and I think it's a great example of co-parenting. But the nosiness in me was like, if you don't pull a Nelly, it's spin the block.

00:17:21 - 00:17:27 | Speaker 4:

Say that again. Say that again. Say that again. You said it in your...

00:17:27 - 00:17:31 | Speaker 2:

I said, would he pull a Nelly and spin the block?

00:17:31 - 00:17:46 | Speaker 3:

Would he pull a Nelly and a Shanti? Like how they got back together. I'm a never say never type of person, but it's like basically never. Yeah. Basically. Yeah.

00:17:49 - 00:17:54 | Speaker 2:

She's so disappointed. I love that everybody's so sad. I don't say me sad too

00:17:54 - 00:18:10 | Speaker 4:

Hold on, 248 says What happened to Kev's fiance In all fairness, you and Sherelle were never engaged You talked about getting engaged But you guys, just to recap people Because people are like, oh wait, is Kev stepping out right now

00:18:10 - 00:18:23 | Speaker 3:

No, no, no, no, Sherelle and I have been Broken up Off air since about last June And then I publicly addressed it I think later in the year, last year But we are no longer together and haven't been for quite some time.

00:18:23 - 00:18:27 | Speaker 4:

And do you guys still talk?

00:18:27 - 00:18:33 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah, for sure. Shout out to Sherelle. She's a little mad at me, but, you know, it's understandable. Because of that?

00:18:33 - 00:18:34 | Speaker 2:

Because of the Christmas and New Year's thing?

00:18:34 - 00:18:43 | Speaker 3:

Just how, that for sure. I got some, man, when I said that on air, I got a crazy text message. But, again, that's just emotion. Love Sherelle. Love Jerelle. Yeah, for sure.

00:18:44 - 00:18:44 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:18:45 - 00:18:46 | Speaker 4:

Okay.

00:18:47 - 00:18:57 | Speaker 3:

Are you dating, by the way? No, I'm on Tinder, though. and I matched with my sister. We'll talk about that another day. Wait, what? Wait, how is that not a topic that we're talking about this morning?

00:18:57 - 00:19:02 | Speaker 1:

Are you kidding me? I'm talking about it now because you just did your topic. No, no, no. Let's stay where we are.

00:19:02 - 00:19:04 | Speaker 4:

Let's stay where we are. All right, we'll go.

00:19:04 - 00:19:04 | Speaker 1:

Jesus.

00:19:07 - 00:19:12 | Speaker 4:

That's got to be Kev's second topic this morning. We'll bring that up as the next topic this morning.

00:19:12 - 00:19:18 | Speaker 2:

I never want to hear about me and my brother again because we've never matched on Tinder. All right? Never want to hear about it.

00:19:18 - 00:19:24 | Speaker 4:

You got never matched on Tinder, but what is it? It was Love Cupid or what was the app?

00:19:24 - 00:19:24 | Speaker 2:

Nope.

00:19:25 - 00:19:26 | Speaker 4:
