Mojo in the Morning Show, Home of War of the Roses, it's coming up. I have to ask a question here right now. And my question I have to ask is, how do you get rid of a solicitor that comes to your door? And it seems like more and more these people come to your door. If you're a homeowner, you know this. If you live in an apartment, it probably doesn't happen for you. But if you own a home, there are these, and I can't understand who these people are. I can tell they're not from the area, so to speak. But there are these guys that will come to your door. Some of them will ride on, what are those? Like the line scooters? Like they basically go forward like this, but it's just like, it looks like, no. This guy, my guy came on a Segway. what are the what are the ones that are they look like a skateboard but it's a skateboard not going

00:02:55 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 4:

forward but it's a skateboard sideways yeah like a little hoverboard yeah so this guy was on a

00:03:01 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 7:

segue uh his name is zach by the way hi i'm zach from such and such pest control and uh yesterday i'm on the phone with tony travato it's actually kind of funny so i'm on the phone with tony and we're talking business and i'm trying to deal with you know some stuff that tony is uh talking to me about and i'll say i go tony i got somebody at my front door my doorbell rang my dogs are barking and going crazy and stuff and i go and answer the door and of course henry's got to go out there and be friendly with the solicitor because all i wanted to do is peek my head out and say don't want any close the door the guy is there and he is pointing out to me all the spots in my house where my house has different bugs you got spiders up there you got you know wasps going here you got possibility of you know termites and this guy's going crazy with some jungle tarantulas yeah bad yeah it was it was crazy so i say to him i go uh we have a pest control service who is it we don't have a pest control service i say some guy in wald lake and he goes what's the name of the company and i go none of your business so i'm on the phone can you call tony is there a way to

00:04:12 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 8:

to call he did and i texted him around 6 30 but he didn't text me he didn't ask he didn't They went to voicemail both times. He's milking the cows on the farm.

00:04:21 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 7:

The only reason why I say that we should call Tony for this one is I'm on speaker with Tony, and Tony is laughing hysterically at this guy's persistence. And these guys are so bad. I'm telling you, they come from some companies. And I know more about this thing now because Luke almost went to Chicago last year as a college student to do exactly what this guy's doing so pest control they go door to door yeah selling like he did because his buddies were all going to do it together and they were all going to live together and they put you up you know what I mean

00:05:00 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 1:

I mean, yeah, they put you up and then they give you so much money if you can get, you know, a sale. I call them the clipboard guys because they always have a clipboard in their hand. And they're all like just annoying as hell. And I cannot figure out how to get it, you know, get rid of these guys. And Chelsea says to me, don't even answer the door. Like, look through the peephole and just go, we don't want any.

00:05:23 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. You're too nice. It used to be like that for and totally different. But I remember being at my grandmother's house in particular and Jehovah Witnesses used to come and they used to be like, they used to come to the door and they had a little outfits on and a little booklets. And my grandma would just be like, just be quiet. Don't even answer the door.

00:05:41 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 6:

My mom would make me answer the door. Cause I was like 10 years old and I'd be like, I don't know what's going on. Are you ready for Jehovah's return?

00:05:48 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 4:

I'm not answering unless it's a kid selling wrapping paper or firewood. I don't have little kids anymore. I used to sell wrapping paper for a fundraiser for school for my eighth

00:05:56 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 1:

great trip to washington dc yes we don't have uh little kids anymore like we used to have little kids selling yeah a little caesar's pizza kits they used to have little caesar's pizza kits

00:06:07 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 4:

all that stuff now is online their parents just send out a link to everybody so so this guy this

00:06:12 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 1:

guy is not a little kid i'm guessing he's probably i don't know like late 20s or so mid mid to late 20s um got a baseball hat on he's got his like his shorts with a white polo shirt on and he's you know hey you know hey uh you didn't tell me your name or no he said to me he goes he goes and what is your name again i go i didn't tell you my name and he goes well yeah i know but i just want to like be friendly with you like he's trying to talk and tony is just laughing away Oh, my gosh. Olivia, have you seen these guys come to your house?

00:06:47 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 5:

Yes. Good morning, guys. Good morning. So they came to my house, like, mid-afternoon, same thing, on a Segway, selling pest control, probably, like, 30s with an iPad. And I told them the exact same thing that you did, Mojo. I was like, oh, we already have one. He was like, who is it? And I was like, oh, Orkin. I just, like, made something up. And I was like, thank you so much. Meanwhile, my dogs are barking. I have two young kids at my ankles. He came back that same night at like 8 p.m., rang my doorbell, woke my kids up. The dogs were barking, and I didn't answer, but I was like, what is he doing? He was just standing out there. He was persistent. They're persistent. I'll give him that, yeah.

00:07:31 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 1:

I said to Tony Travato, you know what we're going to do with these guys? And Tony goes, what? I think he was worried when I was going to say the answer. We're going to have Kim Blockcamp hire them as salespeople for iHeartMedia. Could you imagine if our salespeople did this? Oh, my God, we'd be number one biller in the world. Turn the sprinklers on. Turn the sprinklers on these guys. Well, Olivia should have done that. Her kids are sleeping. You know what I mean? Like, don't wake up, my kids.

00:07:57 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 5:

I was livid, yeah.

00:07:58 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 1:

The only pest I got right here, Olivia, is the guy that's trying to sell me this stuff. It's crazy.

00:08:04 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, I'm getting a sign now.

00:08:06 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 1:

Thank you for the call.

00:08:07 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 4:

No, they don't care. No, they don't care.

00:08:11 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 1:

I want to get one of those, too. What's up, Jonah? How you doing?

00:08:14 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 3:

Hi, how are you guys doing?

00:08:16 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 1:

I'm okay, Jonah. I'm a little amped up over Zach, the pest control guy that came to my house yesterday.

00:08:23 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 3:

First time in a long time. I just graduated from Western Michigan, the business school. and EcoShield used to recruit every single person in the business school to go away in the summertime and spend the whole summer knocking on doors. And they'd get, like, they'd get sometimes $500 per, like, house that you sign. Wow.

00:08:49 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 4:

Wait, how much?

00:08:51 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 3:

They would get, like, $500 because they'd get people locked into these contracts for years, and they would just get tons of money for every single house. And so they would get, like, a crazy commission. And these EcoShield people are so persistent. When you said something about, like, oh, they're talking about the spots that the bugs are in. They do the same thing for every house. It's the same spots everywhere.

00:09:14 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 1:

No, and Jonah, they do this, too. We do the pest control for the neighbors in the subdivision next to you.

00:09:20 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 4:

And you've got to quiz them.

00:09:21 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. Who are they?

00:09:22 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 4:

Oh, and then you go, oh, I know him. Yeah. What is his name? Let's call him right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to call him.

00:09:27 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 1:

Let's call him and see what he thinks of your book. This is so fun. Jonah, it's interesting that they go after the business school guys because you're going to college, so you don't have to go door-to-door, right? Isn't that the whole hope?

00:09:36 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 3:

No, exactly. Yeah, they're like the sales guys, though, specifics.

00:09:39 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 1:

Okay, so they're going after you guys. And it's called EcoShield? That's what it's called? EcoShield. I just want to know, does the pest control work? Or what do they do? Do they sell it to another Terminex guy or something like that? It's like a mortgage. Rachel, how do you get rid of these guys?

00:09:59 - 00:10:29 | Unknown:

Thank you.

00:10:00 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 7:

Hi, I've had a couple of people come to my door to say, hey, can we replace your roof? Or, hey, can we buy your car that's literally been sitting in my driveway for a year? I just say, here's my husband's phone number. I don't know. Call him and ask him about it.

00:10:12 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 8:

Oh, your husband loves that, doesn't it?

00:10:14 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 7:

I always give them my husband's phone number.

00:10:17 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 8:

Mojo, that's what you got to do. You got to tell him.

00:10:19 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 7:

You got to talk to your husband. Call my husband. Tell his phone number and say, call my wife after.

00:10:23 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 8:

Oh, yeah. Chelsea would really appreciate me doing that.

00:10:28 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 7:

Give them Kevin's number.

00:10:29 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 8:

I'm going to give him Rachel's husband's number. Thanks for the call, Rach. What's up? How are you doing, Carol?

00:10:37 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 6:

Hi, how are you?

00:10:38 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 8:

Carol, I am frustrated. I have bugs all over the place, but I'm still not hiring the Segway guy. How's he going to spray my house with the Segway?

00:10:48 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 6:

I know. That's what I happen to be. Well, first of all, I'm part of Cars, Cash, and Gas, so I can't wait for August 14th. Oh, yay.

00:10:54 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 8:

That's awesome.

00:10:55 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 6:

Good luck to you. I'm obsessed with listening to you guys. but yeah we i had a guy come on that uh little hoverboard and he looked like he had a little pinwheel on his head and he kept following me all around the house as we had two we bought two duplexes and we were just getting new tenants in and he followed me all around and he wouldn't leave me alone he's like trying to give me high five and he's like you got pests you got bugs you got this and your tenants are gonna you know they don't spray and he was like and then the tenant comes in and he's hearing me and he then he interrupted and said leave the girl alone

00:11:25 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 8:

so he helped me get the guy out wait i like though that that uh this guy is like following you around and doing this thing he's like stalking you yeah he was it was really bad

00:11:38 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 6:

and he wanted me to give him high five and it was just awful yeah that's crazy

00:11:44 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 8:

oh my god uh hold on mark what's happening hey so i got three kids you know and they're dad make

00:11:54 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 4:

me grilled cheese make me grilled cheese right so i'm making these grilled cheeses uh all of a sudden somebody guy rings my doorbell and uh i answer it i'm like he's like oh i'm a pest control guy do you need pest control i'm like hey man my grilled cheeses are gonna burn uh you know i can't i can't help you and talk to you right i completely understand no problem eating right out

00:12:14 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 8:

everybody use that excuse all right i love you oh my god they're so good yeah so good three days

00:12:21 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 3:

ago. Starbucks ones are so good. Really? Randomly,

00:12:25 - 00:12:27 | Speaker 8:

yes. What's up, D'Angelo? Hi.

00:12:28 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 5:

What's up, though? How y'all feeling this morning? We're doing good.

00:12:31 - 00:12:32 | Speaker 8:

What's going on?

00:12:33 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 5:

Pretty good, man. So good. Me and my cousin, you know, a few years ago, this is a little while back, we got tired of the Jehovah's Witnesses coming to our door, so we chose to open the door one time, butt naked, frozen chicken, and some incense Oh, my God.

00:12:50 - 00:12:55 | Speaker 4:

No. Oh, my God. Wait, what do you say at the end? Frozen chicken.

00:12:55 - 00:13:02 | Speaker 5:

Instance burn. Holding a frozen chicken with the incense burn. What did they do? They never came back to our door.

00:13:04 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 8:

That's awesome. Oh, my God. What? With frankincense and murder. You know what's funny is I'm going to do that for the pest control guys. Anybody that comes up? Uh-oh. Could you imagine? I could not. Walking to the Dornay again.

00:13:22 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 2:
