This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:06 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 7:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be the thing you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four year.

Budge on the morning. Home of the War of the Roses, Boston Cheaters. Go check out the video from the last War of the Roses up on our Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. You can see what it looks like when we bust the cheaters. actually put the visual with the audio that you listen to and you can get that when you follow mojo in the morning so i'd love to know what everybody's answer is going to be to this one but megan uh your question is about the normal amount of relationships yeah so i went out yesterday and

00:03:07 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 5:

i um was getting a drink and talked to the bartender and it was one of those things where it was like you're just kind of getting to know that person you're just trying to start a conversation so lonely no i'm just kidding and we were talking and i feel like normal meeting a random person conversation you're like oh are you in a relationship what's going on yeah yeah what are you doing what's the yeah he's putting his finger up to i thought talk no it was for kp she was no in the video i thought he was raising a hand like there's There's something I want to say here.

00:03:39 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 6:

Excuse me, yes. Hi, hi, Megan. I'm in the back of the room here. Can I ask you a question? Typically what we do. What were you drinking? Was it a gin and tonic, as usual, per use?

00:03:51 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 5:

No, you know what I was having? I felt very bougie as to having a little stela-tois.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 4:

Stela-tois.

00:03:57 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 5:

So I was talking to the bartender. I was like, oh, are you single? What's going on? And we were talking, and we got on to the topic of relationships. and um i don't know how the conversation evolved into this but it was how many relationships we had been in like serious relationships and i said oh three of them and she looked at me and she kind of was judgmental and she's like you've only been in three relationships and i said well listen i've dated a lot of people but i wouldn't say that they were my serious what does she mean by serious yeah like very subjective this is one of those questions where I feel like no matter what I was going to say the answer wasn't going to be right it's either too little or too many no matter what your answer is and I got really mad because I thought listen there's a couple of ways you can look at this one is I've only run in three relationships and what I consider relationships are people I would stay dating for longer than a year and a half each and um I think it's because I'm picky. I don't think that's a bad thing. I don't think it's a bad thing. thing to not date if you're not finding anybody you're compatible with why would i just be with

00:05:04 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 7:

somebody just to be with real quick so when we're talking relationships are we talking we are dating we are official dating official or are we talking you're seeing and fooling around because fooling around is not you know no i'm talking that number might be higher i was dating

00:05:20 - 00:05:40 | Speaker 5:

this person regularly for at least a year and a half okay so that's what it is so it's really so it's dating yeah it's dating okay but if you want my dating number it's a lot higher than that there are people i've gone on 17 dates with and i didn't consider a boyfriend okay and there are people that i went on two dates with that i was like i i see us more as friends like i there yeah there

00:05:40 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 3:

are many more in there she to get in a a correct answer to that question she had to very specifically

00:05:47 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 5:

define relationship right and else your answer could be all over the place but she was just acting like i was a walking red flag and i finished my drink and i left i got so angry over

00:05:58 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 7:

this so yeah it's it's interesting i'm looking back now that you say it that way because i don't think i've been in any more than that like i think i think that's actually and i'm i don't know if you know this i'm older than you so i don't think that that's bad it definitely came from a place of she knew my age like i like i will say this to you i think that i would red flag the people who've been in a lot of relationships yeah why because i would say that if you have dated or had long-term relationships with a lot of people if you could go double digits on that one i want to know what happened is there a pattern to the relationships not lasting yeah because now that

00:06:39 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 6:

i think about it like you have like a girlfriend in high school or or like you don't date a bunch of girls in high school you have a girlfriend or some people have a steady girlfriend through high school yeah you have one we get out of college maybe a couple but you're not like official

00:06:52 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 7:

they're not meeting the parents yeah i mean i listen in and then then you what you're in your 20s your 30s you date a few people right maybe possibly but i listen i i think that you're

00:07:02 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 3:

normal megan i can't believe i'm saying that's a very normal number two are we putting a time

00:07:06 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 8:

limit on on the relationship in order to like qualify it i think it's like if you considered

00:07:11 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 3:

yourself boyfriend girlfriend and that's how you introduce like if you introduced said person as

00:07:16 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 8:

your girlfriend that would qualify as a relationship some people jump in super quick though yeah how

00:07:22 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 5:

many do you have i'm only at three two okay i felt like you were qualified to tell me i was

00:07:28 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 8:

wrong and then we're in the same place i'm at the i i um i've only dealt with people i had a really really really strong connection with and i've never been like we talked about i think yesterday i didn't i didn't even have a person i would consider a girlfriend even in high school like That's just not what I was on.

00:07:45 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 5:

I mean, I did, but it turns out he was gay, so.

00:07:51 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 4:

You weren't a girlfriend, you were an alibi. That's how it should be, though. You shouldn't be boyfriend and girlfriend with everybody that you meet. And just because you're dating someone or you're seeing them for a long term doesn't mean you're hooking up with them. It could mean that you're trying to vet them to become someone that you're going to be serious with.

00:08:09 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:08:10 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 4:

So I've never been that smart.

00:08:11 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 7:

And KP just announced to us that she's got, you got another, you got a boyfriend, right? A shoutie.

00:08:17 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

I do. I am officially a shoutie, whatever that is.

00:08:19 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 7:

So would you officially count him as one now?

00:08:22 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. So he asked me to be his girlfriend. So what does this make for you? This makes three. So three. Actually, so four.

00:08:28 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 7:

Sorry. You got to carry to one. Got around to the new step. What about you, Shannon? What's your number?

00:08:33 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 3:

Well, I had my high school boyfriend that I dated for seven and a half years. I dated a guy like on and off after we broke up a little bit. So maybe I would say him. So that's two. Then my ex-fiance would be three. My husband would be four. Now Wes, five. So you wouldn't consider other people, but we never considered ourselves like boyfriend, girlfriend. Like even Ikea boy. Yeah. I've never referred to him as my boyfriend.

00:08:55 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 7:

What about that guy from Sister Hazel?

00:08:57 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 3:

I've never referred to him as my boyfriend. Really? No, never. And if I said that, I think he would have cracked at me.

00:09:04 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 7:

No. If you said, because he didn't want to be that.

00:09:05 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 3:

That was not, yeah, that was.

00:09:07 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 4:

If you don't say I love you, I feel like it's not a boyfriend.

00:09:10 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 7:

I know people, though, that say I love you to a lot of people.

00:09:14 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 4:

But, like, in a really I love you kind of way. Like, not love you, it's I love you.

00:09:19 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 7:

Some guys say it busting a nut, you know what I mean? That's not love, nor a boyfriend or girlfriend.

00:09:23 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 3:

That could be a lot of things. So I think mine would be five, or if I counted him, Mojo, that would be six. Okay.

00:09:29 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 7:

Misfit Michelle.

00:09:31 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

Good morning, beautiful people. Good morning. Hi, Michelle. You know what? Mojo, first of all, KP, whoop, whoop, you go. I'm very excited for you. and and kevin i don't think we've had the opportunity to meet i feel so bad i've called and not acknowledged welcome my friend hey i appreciate that i appreciate meeting you brother indeed um mojo i agree 100 with you when you said at the beginning that i question if you've had so many long-term

00:10:00 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 3:

relationships i've had three relationships in my life a high school sweetheart a marriage for 22 years and then my past relationship of 10 years and that's it i think that when you say it megan you were spot on for leaving going girl you are out of your mind because she don't know a one-night stand or two-month stand or three-month stand is not a boyfriend right and i've also dated

00:10:22 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 2:

like a lot of girls that i wouldn't say were my girlfriends but i've was dating a lot of them yeah Right.

00:10:29 - 00:10:51 | Speaker 3:

And I get, you know, like Mojo, I question. My sister used to say to me, and I should have listened, there's something wrong. If someone's been in five really long relationships within, like, say, four years, three years, four years, five years, that's a problem. What is wrong with that relationship? How do you keep having these long-term relationships that are going nowhere, right?

00:10:51 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 6:

Okay, so what's worse, then, is hooking up with a bunch of people worse than having five relationships? Good question. Honestly, I think this, I think that it is, because I think hooking, or I'm sorry, having a lot of relationships is worse than hooking up with a bunch of people.

00:11:08 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:11:08 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 6:

Because.

00:11:09 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I agree.

00:11:10 - 00:11:33 | Speaker 6:

Because of, I think they, either you strung them along or you got something going on that you can't get them to commit and go. But also. So, and I do think this, I think that there's a difference between giving them a key to your apartment and putting them on your lease. so that and that's the that's the deal you put them on your lease you know okay they ain't gonna

00:11:33 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 5:

kill me well maybe not but people i feel like people grow up too though like who i am when i dated you at 22 may not be the same person i am even at 25 and i get that listen i and i i think

00:11:46 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 6:

there's a lot of people that younger has have a lot of numbers but i don't think you necessarily were dating uh or committed to them they were you were just having fun that might not you you might

00:11:57 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 2:

have to reevaluate what that relationship was okay can i ask another like follow-up question then

00:12:01 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 6:

yes i'm the expert at this go ahead i actually like that i like your take on that thank you

00:12:05 - 00:12:11 | Speaker 2:

what's worse me being single for a while or people who date too often honestly that's an

00:12:11 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 6:

interesting question because i would i would rather as a guy i would rather look at you as being single for a while is better than you going out and having a lot of people i find it harder

00:12:19 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 2:

date when you've been single for a while and i think that i think that is a problem i think that

00:12:24 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 6:

people think that you know if you're you're it's a red flag if you don't what's going on tammy

00:12:29 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 4:

hi good morning everybody yeah what's up um i've had one relationship my entire life i am 52 years old and that's with the lord um he was my high school sweetheart boyfriend we got married and we will be married 33 years in May.

00:12:50 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 6:

Oh, that's not... Well, you know what? That's sweet.

00:12:52 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 5:

So you've never seen another penis?

00:12:54 - 00:12:55 | Speaker 4:

That's crazy. Wow.

00:12:55 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 6:

Or he laid it down.

00:12:57 - 00:13:21 | Speaker 4:

What? I was... This was really... I mean, I was like 12 and 13 when I actually met him. Wow. And I dated... He was a year older than me. We dated all through high school. He proposed to me at my graduation. All through college, we got married. We've got two kids. So I don't know. He was the one and he still makes me laugh and loves me every day quick question when you because when i drive by certain homes i go god

00:13:21 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 6:

i wonder what that living room looks like do you ever walk by guys and just wonder what's underneath that uh nope no no never nope he makes it worth being the best with him oh does he have a brother

00:13:36 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 4:

he does have a brother

00:13:39 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 6:

and is he a pain in the ass

00:13:41 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 4:

kind of sort of

00:13:43 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 6:

okay alright thanks Tammy what's up Brenda

00:13:47 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 1:

hi so yes Megan do not feel bad because I'm almost 33 and I've only been in two serious relationships one I'm still currently in and we're going on almost five years so don't feel bad

00:14:04 - 00:14:07 | Speaker 2:

Do you see yourself being in this relationship forever?

00:14:09 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, because the first one, it was 11 years, and I actually got married to him shortly after high school. We had some kids together, and this one, I learned a lot from my first marriage, so I grew a lot in that time frame. So I definitely see myself in this last relationship.

00:14:30 - 00:14:54 | Speaker 6:

up well let's hope we're we're hoping that you're happy right or whatever you want it happens by the way the person that just said that megan is a walking red flag is a walking a-hole i'm trying to dm him to see what's going on are you that by the way that's a that's a miserable that's a miserable person right there that would say that because i will say this i think everybody is a

00:14:54 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 2:

walking red flag in one shape or another agree see i always say that if you cause any type of You

00:15:00 - 00:15:17 | Speaker 4:

emotional trauma in my life where I have to sit in therapy and talk about you, you were a boyfriend. Really? That is great reasoning. That's interesting. If you earned that spot of emotional damage, emotional damage, you're a boyfriend. That's an interesting one. I never thought of it that way.

00:15:18 - 00:15:20 | Speaker 5:

Taking up real estate in your brain, boyfriend.
