This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be that you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.

Shannon, when I initially saw this thing, I thought you were talking about your husband's family, but you are not. I'm married into a weird family.

Have you married into a weird family? A family that just does something or has a strange habit that is so off the wall, but now they're your family too. I think I've talked about this before, but my little sister, Jacqueline, lives like less than 10 minutes from me. So we see her and my two nieces a ton. And every time we go to her house, not every time, but a good chunk of the times, we gather around my sister on her couch and she cleans all of our ears with that little ear camera that's attached to your iPhone. And we love this. My kids love this. Her girls love it. then she does her own excuse me and we all sit there and watch and two nights ago we were there my poor brother-in-law ryan goes i married into a really weird family you did but you love it the fact that this is an organized family activity is what's weird and we at my kids run in and they're like can you clean our ears and jacqueline we love it why do those things really work and it's fascinating to see what is in your ear it is i want to say it's safer too like with q-tips

sometimes you're actually pushing the wax in you're not really great everybody says that

everybody says that what have you ever met anybody who had that happen to them i'm not saying it doesn't happen i watch those weird doctors i see it get cleaned out but is that like one in 10 billion people like how often does that happen in like impacted around your eardrum but my point is

do you know anybody that this ever happened to no no i'm saying like when you put a q-tip in your ear and you like twist it or you try to wherever the case is yes some wax can come out but not as much as you think is coming out you're actually pushing some in when you need to get one of these

things i wish we could talk to my brother-in-law i think he's working and he's also very shy but he just apparently has a very monotone voice. It does he? Yeah.

Maybe you want to just call out the weird family and like the weird family tradition. I still remember the first time that Chelsea met my family. We were dating. We lived in Arizona. My family all lived in Chicago. And it was the year that my aunt gave everybody boxes of chocolate, but she only gave the people that were in relationships. And they were actually, do you know what a Frango Mints are?

This is the Frango Mints story. They used to have Frango Mints at Macy's or Hudson's and Marshall Fields in Chicago and stuff.

And my aunt Jenny gave.

All those that had relationships, Frango Mints, including me, because I had a new relationship. I was dating Chelsea. Pat was the only one that didn't have a relationship. Poor Aunt Pat. So Pat started crying over her Frango Mints.

Your aunt is a bitch. She was a bitchy.

No, actually, she was awesome. She didn't mean it. She thought it was like a family gift, and she goes, oh, I just wanted to get it. But it didn't play well for Pat. Was she in a relationship, your aunt? No, she was a single one. She was a single aunt. Oh, that's just so funny. Isn't that funny? Did you give Pat your Frankel mints? Everybody offered her our Frankel. We'll give you our effing mints. But that was like the thing. And Chelsea was like, I remember we were going to bed that night. And Chelsea goes, that was really an interesting. I'm like, Chelsea, this is just the start of it. Soon we'll be cleaning each other's ears.

It's addicting. I'm telling you. By the way. I am telling you. Your ears would be fascinating. You have so much earwax more than anybody else I've ever met in my life.

Good. My mother-in-law, or my wife and my mother-in-law's family are just really weird. They always seem to have some ailments and issues. I had to take my father-in-law to the doctor one time, the EMT, because he couldn't hear, and we thought he was having issues. And they cleaned out, like, three different Q-tip swabs, a big old cotton ball. Wait, they were all stuck in his ear still?

Oh, my God. I love it. That's wild. So here we are talking about that, and it actually happened to your father-in-law. And that's like the weird family thing that you guys have. That's crazy. Tasha, what's going on?

Hi. So this Christmas, we were getting ready to get my daughter's presents out, and my husband had got her, like, a little kid tool bench. and I wanted to cover it and he was like well it's from Santa you don't wrap the presents from Santa and I said

what? Oh yeah by the way that is kind of an interesting thing Santa should not be wrapped he doesn't wrap presents but Santa for some reason some families wraps presents

I think the elves wrap presents depending on the household

so did this become like an issue when you bring a new person into the family the tradition was different in theirs

yeah my so like we always I always had my presents wrapped like growing up and so it was so odd when my husband was like I don't wrap presents from Santa and I was like wait a second well it's funny

my family was different too in in my family growing up as a kid it was different than Chelsea's Santa came in my family on Christmas Eve where Santa comes to Chelsea and now our kids family she took that we took her tradition of christmas day that was hard for me because as a kid it was always santa was on christmas eve and you know what santa can come any day he wants to

My husband, his brothers dated the same girl, which they had fruit from. So he's got, how can I explain this? His nephews are brothers, half brothers, but also cousins because his brothers, Had a baby with the same girl.

And then they broke up, and now they dated somebody new, and now they switched girlfriends again. Again? Ooh, that is drama.

And Kathy, what do you think about that whole situation?

Oh, I had to walk away from Aunt Kathy. Aunt Kathy is Catholic, but she doesn't need to know this.
