Every dating app swipe is another loss. Jim bros, big CEOs, straight-up losers. So now the only app I open is Moto Casino because at least there I'm surrounded by winners. Real winners, thousands of them. While everyone else is in the single swamp, I'm at home relaxing while stacking bonuses, hitting wins, and playing all my favorite Vegas-style games. Moto Casino, the only app worth your time.

00:02:24 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 2:

Moto Casino, the social casino. It's Mojo in the Morning.

00:02:36 - 00:03:00 | Speaker 8:

If you're a contractor, I want you to listen up to this because Mike might need your help. So Mike wants to do a remod in his house for the new baby that is coming in June and has had some people come out to give him estimates. and Mike committed a Mike moment with one of the estimates. I'm such an idiot. What happened, Mike?

00:03:01 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 6:

Well, I don't know a lot about remodeling and any of that stuff, so we are doing the baby's room, and we had him come out and look at it, and he gave us a quote for it, and I've been handling the whole thing, and I texted my wife yesterday, and I said, guess what? We can do this. We've been saving for a little bit. We knew this was coming up. You know, we didn't know if it was going to be this year or next year, but we're just putting money away, putting money aside for this. And it's like the first time we've ever even remodeled anything on any house ever. And so I don't know much about it. And so he sends over the quote and I'm like, Allie, we can do this. I'm so excited. I'm proud. I have a like I'm walking around the house proud yesterday because I'm like, look what I did. Look what what we did. Look what I did. Look what we're going to do. Look at all this. Like, this is amazing. You had a grown up moment there.

00:03:49 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 8:

Yeah. I can afford to take care of this.

00:03:52 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. Yeah. Before I'd lived in a house where I couldn't even do that. We were struggling to just be even in that other house because the house was falling apart. And this is the first time I can build a room. I can build a room. I'm so excited. I'm proud. And I send her over how much it's going to be. And she's surprised. And she's like, all right, well, let's go through with it. So I send over like a verbal, hey, we're going to do this. I'll get the paperwork signed. But let's start talking dates. Allie gets home, and I show her the whole thing. I show her the layout, what they want to do. She looks at me instantly and goes, Mike, that is a third of what we – or we have a third of what this is. I said, no, no, no, no, look it, look it, look it. She goes, that's the closet. If you want to add a closet to the place, it costs this amount. The total, as she scrolls down, and it is triple what that price was.

00:04:47 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 8:

So you looked at the wrong line item. Yes.

00:04:50 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

And I felt so stupid. And now I feel even dumber because I have to go back to these people who are, like, setting dates and planning on coming in.

00:05:00 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 4:

they probably started getting the material together and be like hey uh can i have take backsies like i can't yeah well you didn't sign anything right it was just a verbal no but still

00:05:10 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 3:

i feel stupid yeah i feel dumb like well the other thing too is that does this now take your negotiation power away because you said yes to it now the guy's gonna think that you're just trying to play games instead of i think you'd be honest with them like i think you say here's what i i would do in this case because i've had similar happen to me where it's like it was way different than what i could afford and i think you just be honest and you say hey i'm gonna be really honest with you this is all the money that i got what can i do for this and just see what they can do for you because maybe there is something well i mean they were gonna do a closet for that maybe they can actually do a little bit less and you can do pieces at a time or something yeah well yeah and

00:05:50 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 4:

yes i i just feel i feel i more feel stupid i feel dumb because yeah they're gonna they're not going to take me seriously after this like you just said they're they're going to look at this and go this guy has no idea what what he's talking about or what he's doing and so i mean they're going to get what i'm sure it's a reputable reputable business i've never done this so i don't know but i'm sure they're going to look at me and either think one of two things we're going

00:06:14 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 3:

to get as much as we can out of them or this is a lost cause um can i tell you one of the most embarrassing things that i had that was similar to that so you can understand that it's an honest mistake I bought a my first brand new vehicle I ever bought was a Jeep Wrangler okay I love Jeeps and I've had a couple Jeeps in my life well the dealership that I went to to go buy the Jeep I went in test drove a car loved it told the guy oh my god I love it this is great he did the paperwork to go see if I could get you know a financing deal and he comes back to me and goes yep we got your finance this is great and I'm thinking this is unbelievable I'm gonna get finance on the vehicle that i was going to go buy yeah and then he goes but there's a little difference with the vehicle that you're going to buy the only one i could buy was a base model had no air conditioning no heat or it had heat no air conditioning this was in arizona too which you need air conditioning no radio in the thing and it wasn't an automatic transmission it was a manual transmission and i said okay great i'll get it anyway i thought oh i'll just keep the jeep top down you know and get the breeze i didn't know how to drive a stick i couldn't even drive it off the lot so i bought the vehicle because i was so embarrassed mike and i know you probably have a little bit of embarrassment with this because i was embarrassed because i couldn't afford to get the the vehicle that i wanted and i had to have my boss john peak come to the dealership to drive my car because i didn't know how to drive it so you learned real quick he taught me how to drive it John taught me I still never forget the the dealership was it was Galloway Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram or whatever and it was on like Speedway in like 6th Street John took me to 5th Street to learn how to drive it because I was like clonking out and stuff well see that's where

00:08:00 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 4:

the the pride did kick in and I almost I almost and I'm so glad I didn't do this uh I almost took our entire savings and put half of it down and said we'll figure the rest out later because you can do half down now and then half down when it's done and i'm like oh we'll figure it out i was because i was my pride kicked in and i'm like i feel so dumb right now i feel so stupid hey how

00:08:20 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 3:

do you pronounce this name we got some contractors calling up mike uh what's your name is it dill dill dill what's up dill what's going on you're you're a project manager absolutely i work for a

00:08:33 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 2:

construction company in plymouth and mike you are not dumb how should he handle this thing Well, I think, Mojo, your idea of telling them how much your budget is is a great idea because they can swap out materials for, like, cheaper material that will bring the quo down.

00:08:49 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 1:

Or even just take what was going to be for the closet. Like, you at least – is it the space that you posted yesterday, Mike?

00:08:55 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, yep.

00:08:56 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 1:

Like, at least get some drywall up there. You know what I mean? So it's a livable space. Like, I wonder how that would translate of what was allocated for the closet to do – to just get some walls up down there.

00:09:07 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 3:

And, Dill, when you're talking about less materials, you're not talking about bad materials. You're talking about...

00:09:13 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 2:

No, so instead of, like, wood floors, you'll do, like, the vinyl floors, which are actually, like, really, really way better than they were in the past. There's, like, click-in vinyl floors. You can do... The biggest expense is going to be your, like, rough stuff, so your electrical HVAC and plumbing stuff. So if you have a lot of that, you might maybe want to pull back on some stuff like that, and that'll save you a lot of money.

00:09:40 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 3:

That's not a bad idea.

00:09:42 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, thank you.

00:09:42 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 3:

Dil, thank you. You know anybody in West Michigan that can do something like this?

00:09:47 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 2:

Unfortunately, I'm here in Plymouth, so I do not.

00:09:49 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Thanks for the call.

00:09:51 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 2:

Good luck.

00:09:52 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

Take care of yourself. Kyle, what's up? Hey, Mojo, what's up? What's going on? You're on with Mike. What did you want to say? Yeah, mine actually is a similar.

00:10:00 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 2:

Similar to your story, Mojo, my first car that I ever bought on my own, you know, bad credit situation at the time. I was young, dumb. All I could get approved for was a stick shift, and I had never driven stick in my life. I had to have to call my mom to come pick my car up.

00:10:18 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 5:

It's like totally like, what is it, emasculating, demasculating when that happens.

00:10:25 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 2:

It was. I felt so small, and I'm a big guy. I'm 6'3", 285, and I felt so small.

00:10:33 - 00:11:07 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, but you know what? It is what it is, right? And I loved that Jeep. I eventually learned how to drive it, and everything was cool. And I think in Mike's case here with the baby is, you know, you got a great roof over all your family's heads, and you do it little by little, slowly, Mike. You know, don't worry. You'll be able to figure this out. Or maybe through the miraculous ways of talking about it right now on the radio. Maybe we'll find somebody that can actually, you know, help you out. Or maybe that company will hear it and say, hey, you know what? I like this guy. We'll help him out. We'll figure something out.

00:11:07 - 00:11:36 | Speaker 7:

That's great. And honestly, that's not why I brought this up. Because I genuinely felt pride knowing that I put away this money. I finally was able to set a little bit here, a little bit there. And we did it for like a year. So it's not like we just went, oh, no, we're having a baby. let's put money you know let's put money aside i knew we were going to do something eventually and i knew we wanted to do that and it's it's honestly cost of everything has gone up so it's why we can't fully do it right this second and then maybe it's not smart to do it right now

00:11:36 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 5:

because of that but i will tell you that there is one thing that you could do only fans

00:11:41 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 3:

honestly you joke but we hear from listeners who make thousands of dollars what are you talking

00:11:48 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 4:

about maybe like trade feet pics for a shoe closet.

00:11:51 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 5:

What does Mike got that's good that we can, you know, do on the side? We got something there.

00:11:57 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 7:

I love that you said what's Mike got that's good. Mike, what do you got?

00:12:01 - 00:12:09 | Speaker 5:

I have no idea. I don't know anything that people would want to see in advance. I'm telling you, we can figure this thing out. There's something there. Okay?

00:12:11 - 00:12:13 | Speaker 2:

Mike. Okay.

00:12:15 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 5:

You say so. Don't get down on yourself on this. I have beat myself up over it. I mean, it's my family. I don't know. And, well, here's what I will say to you. You got a great family. I always look back, like you feel like I know that there are moments where you kind of feel like this. And then I look back one Instagram post of yours of what kind of a dad you are with Cecily taking her to the daddy-daughter dance and realize that Cecily doesn't care what a closet looks like or what a room looks like.

00:12:47 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, but do you remember that first time you were able to provide, that first time you took care of your family and the sense of pride that you had over that? That's all it is. Yeah. I mean, we're fine. The house is, we can split up a room or something. The house will be fine. It was just that sense of pride, like, I did this. I took care of the family. I made sure everything was taken care of. And this was the first time, like, with our family anyways, that I was able to do that.

00:13:11 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 5:

But you know what? You're doing great. I mean, listen, think of where you were. Think of the house that you were in And think of where you are right now Daniela, what's up?

00:13:19 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 8:

Hey, Mike I just wanted to say I have a 10-month-old daughter And I literally We basically just finished her room Because, I mean, for the first You know, six months or so Baby is actually with you guys For the most part, right?

00:13:33 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, yep

00:13:33 - 00:13:38 | Speaker 8:

So you can work on it And as you go I mean, she's not going to care

00:13:38 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, that's a good point

00:13:40 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 8:

It's more for us And it's more for show Until you actually need it and she's like bigger or he will whatever you're having i don't know but you can have it done in stages do certain projects yeah like don't stress i mean because baby's gonna be like next to the

00:13:56 - 00:14:19 | Speaker 4:

bed for yeah the beginning yeah that's a great point you have so much time so and have contractors separated in the bed when they do an estimate say how much for this part of the project how much for this like that's what i'm doing with my deck right now i can't afford the whole thing so it's like you do okay how much for the deck how much for the lighting how much for the patty the paver Like you have to just split up the project to get a little bit done at a time. If you have to.

00:14:19 - 00:14:20 | Speaker 8:

Yeah.

00:14:20 - 00:14:21 | Speaker 7:

That's a good point.

00:14:21 - 00:14:21 | Speaker 4:

Thank you.
