Exposing useless men. One a-hole at a time. War of the Roses is coming up in minutes. The War of the Roses. On Mojo in the Morning.

00:02:32 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 4:

All right, it is Mojo in the Morning. So Valentine's Day is next week. Are you kidding me? Yay. I know, I know. I get it. You know what? I'm good with you, though. I'm in a relationship, and I say, yay, Valentine's Day. All right, I got a hot take, and I want to ask this question. I want to ask the listeners to weigh in on this one. a female friend told me that she thinks that valentine's day is for the guys that guys she says that guys are to buy their girls valentine's gifts it's not for the girls to get them valentine's like valentine's day is not a and i guess i don't know uh what kind of relationship you're in but But you don't see women buying men Valentine's gifts. It's usually the guy buys the Valentine's gifts.

00:03:25 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:03:26 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 4:

And I said, that's not fair. First off, that is discriminatory.

00:03:32 - 00:03:33 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, but isn't that what Sweetest Day is for?

00:03:34 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 4:

Y'all don't acknowledge that.

00:03:35 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 6:

I agree. But you have a day. Sweetest Day is so dumb. Get mad at Sweetest Day when people don't practice it. Don't get mad because it exists.

00:03:42 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 4:

Do you guys think that Valentine's Day is a day that is for equal? Like, if you're in a same-sex relationship, what do you do? That means that, what, gay dudes don't have Valentine's Day at all?

00:03:59 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 5:

Are people celebrating Valentine's Day? I swear Valentine's Day has gone, like, I like Valentine's Day because I think it's cute for the kids. I think Valentine's Day is all about the kids. If you have kids, it's like, and now, you guys know this because I've talked about it for every holiday. there's like a basket and now it's the love basket and it's got slippers and pjs and candy and little like i feel like valentine's day is for the kids i did buy wes a card and that's it

00:04:23 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 6:

like i don't i'm not doing a gift i feel like valentine's day is like halloween where kids get into it and then there's couples costumes for halloweens and there's some couples that participate as adults in valentine's day but like overall it's not wholly celebrated by everybody

00:04:40 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 5:

Like, I think it's cute if you celebrate it with your significant other. I love that for you. But I think that, like, especially the women that expect a dozen long-stemmed red roses from rosesbloom.com on Valentine's Day is, like, wrong, wrong.

00:04:56 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 6:

I get it for, like, if you have kids, and this is a great reminder for you to go have, like, a special date night like i get that but overall if i was just dating somebody right now it would be like you could come over and watch a movie and we can get a bag of candy yeah but like a few

00:05:09 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 1:

things i think one it proves how much smarter women are than men that we've been tricked into this belief that we're just supposed to shower our women with all these trinkets and tokens and love and to show our appreciation i do i knew yeah for real because it's this wild ass american marketed a holiday where you're just supposed to spend a bunch of money to show somebody that you love them like you're not supposed to show them every day that you love them oh i agree with you know

00:05:36 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 2:

it's actually a religious thing no it's saint valentine's day yeah yeah so it's actually

00:05:41 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 6:

considered a religious thing he's right it became a commercial hallmark holiday yeah it is bs i think it's the stupidest holiday ever but i understand why some people like it i think it's a very cutesy

00:05:52 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 3:

holiday and if you celebrate it together i love that for you i love all that sappy stuff it's just the expectation sometimes gets me yes sweetest day sweetest day to me has ruined even valentine's

00:06:04 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 2:

day because before sweetest day was a thing which i by the way sweetest day is only a thing here because october of saunders no it's october 15th or something yeah it's i think it was it wasn't saunders uh hot fudge or whatever that was they came up with the whole idea of sweetest day and then it became a thing kind of in a couple of different places and then if you mentioned sweet to stay to somebody in like portland oregon they're gonna you know say to you what are you

00:06:28 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 6:

talking about um all right yeah go ahead do you think it's fair that i've brought up like men are expected to shower their women in gifts i feel like women are expected to like engage in sexual activities too like i i feel like there's expectations on both parties in different ways

00:06:43 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 2:

i you know what honestly i uh i don't think like first off i think that married couples usually early on celebrate it and then as time goes on to me it's just an annoyance because it was just christmas and i just got done doing all that stuff but um but i do uh i do agree that most guys are giving good gifts because they're hoping that they're going to get their gift yeah later that evening but jennifer what are your thoughts hi hey guys good morning

00:07:11 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 4:

my fiance and i have been together for four years and i buy him gifts like i already ordered him a bunch of different stuff and yeah it's not like a lot just like cute little things like little boxers that have like hearts on them and stuff like that just i don't know

00:07:31 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 2:

so so you you get him some some things but he's getting you diamonds and things like that like i think the guys are getting screwed out of this whole deal you know

00:07:43 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 4:

No, no, I don't want diamonds. I like QC stuff, too, like pajamas and, like, a little stuffed animal and some chocolates. Like, we don't go, like, big. It's not crazy. It's just, like, how Shannon was explaining, like, the QC little baskets. Like, we do that for each other. Like, I don't want a lot. Like, we've been together for four years. It's like, we're good. I got the ring. That's all I wanted.

00:08:05 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 2:

Because I listen to the commercials that are on the radio, you know, for the jewelry stores, you know, or even like the department stores and it's all guys get your girl it's always that's what it's

00:08:17 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 3:

always directed to i feel like i need to make a psa same if you are going if you have it in your heart to go to lucido and buy something amazing for your girlfriend or wife not both then by all

00:08:30 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 2:

means no buy your girlfriend and wife by all means it will be lovingly accepted so i work with a

00:08:38 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 6:

different jeweler i work with jay faster jewelers and in my uh commercial i literally say treat yourself these are great deals like take advantage of the great deals and get something nice for yourself just because it's valentine's day doesn't mean you have to be a couple to get this deal

00:08:49 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 2:

i like stacy's take because she's reminding us that valentine's day is for the girls what's the

00:08:56 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 5:

day for the guys stacy well sweetest day is the proper one but march 14th is also a very special day for the men pie day you know what that is don't you anybody know what that is yes do you participate stacy in the steak in the bj day i do do you by the way do you really do you

00:09:20 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

really like the idea that your guy is uh has just eaten a steak that night when you're doing because you know as long as he's showered i'm done okay all right by the way stacy is i got a got a lucky guy you've never heard of that no i got questions i have can't be answered no we'll talk about that podcast yeah eric what's going on how you doing i'm good how are you guys today fantastic get ready buddy valentine's day is coming oh uh listen i already got everything already my wife and i we've been together for 12 years married for two and very early on in our relationship we made it we made it uh

00:10:00 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 3:

thing that hey you know valentine's day i agree with kevin to monetary trap so we never participated in that what i do every year is we spend time and i give her one single rose it's like one of those wooden forever roses or whatever every it's like one of those cutesy things or whatever so we just do that okay turns out even those are a scam they don't actually last forever after seven years they start to lose their color, so they just turn yellow. Oh, no.

00:10:31 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 5:

My big thing with Valentine's Day that sucks, and this year it sucks even more because it's a good Valentine's Day. It's on a weekend. I hate that you can't get a reservation anywhere. Like, it's near impossible. Because it brings out everybody to go out.

00:10:45 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 4:

It's like Churchill Easter. He starts throwing up Lee and been here in 10 years.

00:10:48 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 3:

Exactly. Yeah, he'll make dinner at home. Make dinner at home. Spend time there.

00:10:52 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 5:

He'll do that. DoorDash is also, by the way, They do peak charging on Valentine's Day because there's a lot of people doing that.

00:11:00 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 4:

I don't want to take the conversation in a different direction, but he brought up an interesting point. What do you do when you enter a relationship and you have the thought that it's a Hallmark holiday, but the other person cares so much? Why are you asking?

00:11:10 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 1:

You got to do it for them. If you care about them and they care about it, you got to care about them having their special moment.

00:11:17 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 5:

Or you make them have to explain themselves. Like, it's kind of like before you get your degree, you have to do your dissertation or something. Like, they have to do a dissertation. Jamal, what's up?

00:11:28 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 2:

You didn't answer my question, by the way. Hey, first off, first time, long time. Jamal's on the phone.

00:11:34 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 5:

I won't forget. What up? Hi, Jamal.

00:11:38 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. How you guys doing? Good, buddy.

00:11:40 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 5:

What's going on? We're talking about what do we-

00:11:42 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 2:

I listen to you guys almost every morning. Hell yeah, almost. I'm on the road all the time, so I'm just always listening to you guys. Beep, beep. I love you, man.

00:11:50 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 5:

Thank you, buddy. Thank you.

00:11:51 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, you're the man.

00:11:53 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 5:

We appreciate it. What about that? Are you buying me something for Valentine's Day, Jamal?

00:11:57 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 2:

Man, you'll be the best Valentine's, I bet.

00:12:01 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 5:

Oh, thank you, buddy.

00:12:02 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 2:

I bet you would give me something in return.

00:12:03 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 5:

Ah, steak and a BJ day.

00:12:05 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 2:

I have never gotten something in return on Valentine's Day. Every relationship I have been in, they have never acknowledged Sweeties Day. Aw. Yeah.

00:12:16 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 5:

You're with the wrong women, man.

00:12:18 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 2:

you need better women yeah i know right yeah i know these women out here man it's hard it's hard

00:12:24 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 5:

out here right now jamal you deserve better you deserve better it's time for you to cross that

00:12:29 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 1:

line it's time for you to go to men hard to be a man i think by the way no hell no i've said this

00:12:35 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 5:

i know i've said this if it wasn't if it wasn't for sex i would be with just guys because i like enjoying being with guys i like my buddies you know what i mean but it's but sex is involved

00:12:46 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 1:

Have you ever given it a shot, though? Maybe you don't know.

00:12:50 - 00:12:56 | Speaker 5:

I have to be honest with you. I've often thought and wondered what it would be like, and then I, you know.

00:12:56 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 1:

Hey, it's a spectrum. Is it? It's a spectrum.

00:12:58 - 00:12:59 | Speaker 5:

All right.

00:12:59 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 1:

Give it a shot.

00:13:00 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 5:

Jamal, I'll talk to you later. What's up, Megan? How you doing?

00:13:06 - 00:13:07 | Speaker 6:

I'm good. How are you? Good.

00:13:07 - 00:13:07 | Speaker 5:

What's happening?

00:13:09 - 00:13:11 | Speaker 6:

Not much on my way to work.

00:13:11 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 5:

What's going on? We're talking about Valentine's Day, and we're asking, is it just for the girls?

00:13:16 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 6:

uh i would say yes however i'm in a same-sex relationship okay and she celebrates valentine's for me and i celebrate sweetest day for her oh that's a good way to divide that so you guys and how did you guys decide on that yeah was that something that yeah we split it up so it works

00:13:36 - 00:13:39 | Speaker 5:

okay that's actually not a bad idea First time in a long time.

00:13:39 - 00:13:41 | Speaker 6:

Hey, yeah. It's on the phone. Yeah.

00:13:42 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 4:

Can I ask a question? Yeah. Absolutely. Is she more masculine than you? Is that why she get the Sweeties Day?

00:13:50 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 6:

She is, yeah.

00:13:50 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 5:

Okay. I like it.

00:13:52 - 00:13:53 | Speaker 6:

Yep, she is.

00:13:53 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 5:

So what do you get her? Do you get her like car herd stuff or what do you get her?

00:13:57 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 6:

Usually I get her like some boxers that she likes. Okay. And maybe like a necklace or like some little stud earrings or something like that.

00:14:08 - 00:14:11 | Speaker 5:

Studs. And then what does she get you? Does she get you all the silky stuff?

00:14:13 - 00:14:17 | Speaker 6:

Well, like pajamas. She might get me like a charm for my Pandora.

00:14:17 - 00:14:17 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:14:17 - 00:14:23 | Speaker 6:

Or like some earrings or something like that. And then we also do a little something for our son as well. Oh, sweet.

00:14:23 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 5:

Well, happy Valentine's Day, Megan. And what's her name? What's your lovely lady's name?

00:14:29 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 6:

Her name is Meek.

00:14:31 - 00:14:34 | Speaker 5:

Meek. Megan and Meek sitting in a tree.

00:14:34 - 00:14:35 | Speaker 6:

00:14:35 - 00:14:40 | Speaker 5:
