This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:00:52 - 00:01:37 | Speaker 2:

My name is Neterica Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and stuff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

00:01:45 - 00:01:57 | Speaker 9:

I don't get why it is, explain this to me. Explain to me why it is that it seems like this has been the fastest month of my life, but yet I hear so many people telling me it's the slowest month of their life.

00:01:57 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 2:

Nah, fast.

00:01:59 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 9:

I agree, right? Shannon, though, thinks that this month is drag.

00:02:02 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 8:

Slow. Really? Yeah, I feel like New Year's Day was eons ago at this point. Really?

00:02:10 - 00:02:19 | Speaker 7:

I feel like the earlier part of the month maybe went quicker than the latter part. Yeah. This last few weeks has felt long. It's maybe the cold.

00:02:19 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 8:

But this is how every year goes for me. I feel like January, February, March, April are so slow. Really? And then the rest of the year just flies by. If you told me New Year's Day was last week, I would believe you.

00:02:28 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 9:

I want, this is what I want. I want to hear from you. I want to take some calls. Ten calls says it all. Slow or fast? January, how has it been for you? And then tell us, if it's been slow, what the hell's up with you and why aren't you seeing a therapist?

00:02:44 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 8:

I am seeing a therapist. Oh, man, you gotta try. Since 2016. Slow down. Every Wednesday.

00:02:51 - 00:03:09 | Speaker 9:

I'm telling you. What's going on? 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Give us a little bit of love this morning. Let us know that you're listening. If you're not listening, we're going home. We're going to make it February, our first day. You know what? I can't say the word, by the way.

00:03:09 - 00:03:09 | Speaker 8:

What word?

00:03:09 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 9:

I can't say the month. Is it February or February?

00:03:14 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 8:

Everybody just says February.

00:03:16 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 9:

February. Everybody. February.

00:03:17 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 8:

And if I hear somebody say February, I'm like, you're a teacher.

00:03:20 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 9:

The R is silent. Or, yeah. I don't know how to say the month name.

00:03:25 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, but that's not the only thing you don't know how to say.

00:03:28 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 9:

I also say milk instead of milk.

00:03:30 - 00:03:31 | Speaker 2:

Pellow. Pellow.

00:03:32 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 9:

It's a Pellow. You say Chicago weird and you're from there. Hold on. Fisher is back with us. Fisher, you can't even say Pharrell's name. What am I picking you?

00:03:43 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 4:

I called back and I did want to apologize. I did mess that up royally. How did you mess that up? I have kept it off yet, all right?

00:03:51 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 9:

I would love to hear feral happy.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 6:

I kind of like it, though.

00:03:57 - 00:03:58 | Speaker 9:

Fisher, has it been a slow or fast month?

00:04:00 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 4:

So I think I agree with Kevin. Like, the beginning after the month, it kind of went by fast. But I think for me personally, the last couple weeks, it went by slow because we started doing 7-10. So not having a weekend, the weeks, it feels like all the day. What do you do for a living? I'm an apprentice union iron worker.

00:04:17 - 00:04:17 | Speaker 9:

Okay.

00:04:18 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 2:

Oh, nice. Local 50?

00:04:21 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 9:

Are you throwing that out? Did you know? Local 25. Ah, I was close. How did you know?

00:04:26 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 6:

They do a lot of advertising in Toledo.

00:04:29 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 9:

Oh, do they? Okay. Well, shout out to you guys. I appreciate you guys for your hard work. Let's go to Todd. Todd, what's up? Slow or fast?

00:04:37 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 3:

Fast. Fast. I was hired about a week into January, and it seems like three weeks has gone by. I have my first paycheck in seven months.

00:04:45 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 9:

Oh, my goodness. Whoa. Wow.

00:04:47 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 3:

Congrats, bro. I came back here from Virginia and just been bro-ing, but I finally got a job. Let's go. Bye. Oh, my.

00:04:56 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 9:

Let's go out for cocktails. What do you think? A little cocktail, Sam?

00:04:59 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, let's go. Sorry.

00:05:00 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, let's go.

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 5:

All right.

00:05:02 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, what is the first thing you buy when you get that paycheck? I don't drink. I don't drink. He's like, wait, no, no, no, I forgot.

00:05:08 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 5:

You go to a liquor store and you buy, what are the big cans of beer? The 40s. The 40s, yeah. Yeah, you go get a, when I see guys on a Friday doing that, I'm like, that's a man right there.

00:05:20 - 00:05:25 | Speaker 1:

Unless it's like the big, have you seen the big, the seltzer? Oh, yeah, you can't buy a seltzer.

00:05:26 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 7:

Wait, what I'm hearing is we should do Edward Fortyhands today.

00:05:30 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 5:

Yes, let's do it. That's what I'm hearing. Edward Fortyhands is it. Joy, what's up? Slow or fast?

00:05:37 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 7:

It's been so slow.

00:05:39 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 5:

Really?

00:05:39 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 7:

It's been very slow. I agree. I really feel like the beginning part of the month went really fast. And then even like the other day, I was like, is it still January? When I was trying to figure out the date of something.

00:05:50 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, Kev brings up the weather. Do you think it's the weather? Do you think it's all the stuff you had to do? What is it?

00:05:56 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, we had a lot going on this month, but I think the weather really just fricking zapped it out of me. It was just so cold. It was like we were froze in January.

00:06:04 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Well, we love you for listening. I hope we give you a good Friday. I hope Friday is fast today. I always love when people say this show just went by so fast. It means that we had a good show. What's up, Sarah? Hi.

00:06:14 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 6:

Hi, Mojo. I was just kind of letting you guys know that today is the 100th day of January.

00:06:19 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 3:

That's what it feels like. I hate it.

00:06:23 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 5:

Oh, man.

00:06:23 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 6:

Every year, it's like the slowest month, and I think it's just between the darkness and the cold and the letdown from the holidays.

00:06:30 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, you know what? And I guess it's funny. Here I am talking about how fast it is. I think I'm only doing that because I still have my Christmas tree up, and I'm trying to make it seem like the month went by so fast. I'm just lazy with that. Hey, appreciate you. Oh, my gosh. Bye, Sarah. Have a great weekend. Bye. What's up, Michelle? What's going on, Michelle?

00:06:48 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 7:

It's first time on time. Hey! Sarah, let's go.

00:06:53 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 5:

Welcome to the show. What's going on, slow or fast?

00:06:56 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 7:

Fast, definitely.

00:06:58 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 5:

See, this is what happens when you take care of your mental health. It goes by fast, right, Michelle?

00:07:04 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, it feels like yesterday was New Year's Day, you know? It's just, wait, where's January now?

00:07:11 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 5:

Seriously, I'm still writing 2024 on checks I don't write. But, hey, it's not... You still write checks? I know, exactly. Actually, I had to write one yesterday for Luke from Michigan State, believe it or not. It is kind of crazy. And I was explaining to him what it was. He's like, Dad, don't worry. We won't need those. We'll all do Bitcoin. All right. Well, thanks. Appreciate you. All right. Let's get this thing started. Let's get the show going, and let's get this thing over with.

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:08:29 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 2:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that it's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be that you don't want to be with this program i learned networking a lot we've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds dealing with autocad or need 3d modeling so really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful i don't come from a wealthy family so four years we're kind of not out the picture but less probable for me to go to bishop state With my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.
