All right, it's Mojo in the morning. Question for those that are working outdoors. Are you okay today? Because earlier this morning we talked about this horrendous smoke coming from the Canadians. Thank you, Canada, again. Just because you don't like our president doesn't mean that you've got to smoke us out on this whole deal here. Do you guys, if you're outside, are you feeling this? Absolutely. The stat that was unbelievable was it's a half a pack of cigarettes that you smoked if you've been outside during the day?

00:01:48 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 5:

They said 10 cigarettes if you spend the day outside.

00:01:51 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 8:

10 ciggies, as Shannon calls them.

00:01:53 - 00:02:05 | Speaker 9:

because i sent shannon i sent it to you i couldn't listen to it but channel seven did a breakdown on what the potential long-term effects are from what we're all experiencing

00:02:05 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 8:

right now yeah look exactly said it today i'm gonna send it to the chat chat hold on a second

00:02:09 - 00:02:21 | Speaker 9:

because that's my concern especially people with you know asthma like if i'm going outside and i'm breathing this no you shouldn't be five years from now like am i still gonna be okay i here you go

00:02:21 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 8:

Hold on a second. I might actually have it. Hold on. I've got to watch a commercial for Jeremy Moss for Congress.

00:02:30 - 00:02:31 | Speaker 9:

I sent you the one on Twitter.

00:02:32 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 8:

All right. Hold on. All right. Here we go. Hold on a second here. All right. Hold on a second here. I'm going to get it right after his commercial.

00:02:40 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 3:

Dr. Doshian, I bet.

00:02:42 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 8:

Okay. Here we go. All right. So this is the long-term effects of this.

00:02:51 - 00:03:45 | Speaker 6:

stronger. I approve this message. Here we go. Here we go. This is not the first time we've been dealing with drifting wildfire smoke coming in from Canada and other parts of the U.S. It's a repeat of the scenario that happened both in 2023 and last year, 2025. And the concern is the fine particulate matter in the smoke can get deep into your lungs and even into your bloodstream. And long-term exposure to these particles can greatly increase your risk to certain diseases, including COPD and lung cancer. Joining me now to discuss these long-term risks is Dr. Devang Doshi. In fact, I spoke to Dr. Doshi in 2023 when we first started dealing with this. Dr. Doshi is an allergist, immunologist, and pediatric pulmonologist from Corwell Health. Doctor, thank you so much for joining us again. Thank you. Thank you. Good morning. What are some of the most concerning long-term health risks associated with repeated exposure to this wildfire smoke? Yeah, so just as

00:03:45 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 2:

you alluded to a lot of these patients that are continuously exposed to this even episodically like we've been seeing for summers are going to be at increased risk of acceleration of lung disease COPD asthma even risks of lung cancer and like you mentioned these particulate matters do enter the bloodstream and put patients at very high risk of heart disease high blood pressure heart attacks and even neurological impacts of increasing risk of strokes and dementia so they

00:04:12 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 6:

have to really be careful now we talk about these things copd asthma stroke dementia these are big big issues and we think of them as being down the line i mean is this a concern for for instance let's say children you're eight years old and you're thinking of dementia you know 50 60 years

00:04:28 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 8:

down the line all right but no kids can be thinking of dementia right now but uh cody you're outdoors and you just heard that it could cause issues what are your thoughts what do you do what do

00:04:38 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 3:

do that you have to be outdoors i'm a painter so i'm painting the spring lake library and uh close to grand haven and i just got sent off the job because of the smoke exposure

00:04:49 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 8:

oh yeah i mean i think that you guys should definitely not be doing this until with paint

00:04:57 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

yeah like i just feel like that's a lot of bad things here

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 7:

Inhaling. I definitely, my lungs are hurting from it too. Yeah. Yeah. What's the, um, Azo? Yes. Do you think she could help me get a class action lawsuit against Canada? She can do anything. All right.

00:05:14 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 2:

Be safe, buddy. And I'm glad that you're smart enough to not be out there doing this today. Just take the day.

00:05:20 - 00:05:24 | Speaker 7:

I'm just pulling in my driveway. I'm done for the day.

00:05:25 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 2:

All right. Good for you, man. Amanda, what's up, Amanda?

00:05:27 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 4:

hey so i work for amazon i mean i'm off today um but yeah all the amazon people are out delivering out today yesterday they had shut down all the uh stations all the warehouses so none of the drivers were out delivering yesterday but now they're back in full operation today so they were handing out uh n95 masks to all the drivers so they just got to be out there in the N95 mass delivery.

00:05:56 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean, we can go a day without our deliveries, can't we?

00:06:00 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I mean, I would say so.

00:06:02 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 2:

No, Shannon says no. Risk your life. I said that very quietly. Risk your life for Shannon. So what are you looking for, Shannon? What are you wanting to get?

00:06:10 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 1:

Am I supposed to get delivered today? Beads. Beads for a project.

00:06:15 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 7:

I was wondering when my charger said Tuesday was going to get delivered. I was like, I've got to run.

00:06:19 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 4:

If your driver falls out, Shannon, you might not get your package. Yeah, it's okay. That's okay.

00:06:24 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 2:

Hold on. 30 years from now. Joy is a FedEx driver, so Amazon versus FedEx. Are you guys delivering today, or are you guys saying no? You are.

00:06:33 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, we deliver to all the hospitals, but we got every hospital down here. Yeah, that's important stuff. So it's no station down or nothing like that. We got to get it there. Be careful, please.

00:06:47 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 2:

Do you have air conditioning in your vehicles?

00:06:50 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 5:

I do. I drive a cleaner, so I'm good.

00:06:52 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, put it on recycled air, please. I did that yesterday. Thank you for saying that. Mason does concrete outside. What's up, Mason? But look at this, Mason. Hey, how's it going, Mojo? What a perfect name for you, a masonary there.

00:07:07 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, Mason the Mason, you know it.

00:07:09 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, what's going on?

00:07:12 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 3:

Hey, I mean, I just wanted to comment a little bit on the wildfires. Yes. You know, I heard you mention it's like, what, 10 packs or 10 cigs a day? Yeah. And, I mean, in this industry, I feel like most of us are smoking 10 cigs a day anyway. So, you know, it's not too much of a change for a lot of these guys out here. But, you know, combined with the 90-degree heat, it's been brutal. But, you know, things got to get done, right?

00:07:35 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 2:

Let me tell you this. My buddy Jason was getting upset about this whole thing because he's working outdoors and didn't like the idea that he's got to work outdoors in this thing. So he took off yesterday, only to go home and probably have one of the entire cylinders of Zins. so so he didn't he didn't want to he didn't want to you know be outside but instead was at home with his uh spearmint and zenz one's voluntary i guess what's up greg well just working on cell

00:08:06 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 7:

towers uh hvac units for at&t and verizon um out in this all day long every day um company i work for they just said take it easy but we take it easy we get behind so can't do it hey does this

00:08:22 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 2:

affect your cell service i wonder if all this smoke is bad for that because of you know it

00:08:29 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 7:

seems to me like there's so much atmospheric stuff i drive a lot and i uh talk to my girl on the phone when i'm driving and it's hands-free um and yes it does affect it it's affecting the cell phone services. Wow. So, yeah, and I don't even smoke, and this stuff is bad. It is bad. How high in the air are you when you're on these towers? I don't have to crawl on the tower. I stay on the ground because all the HVAC is on the ground. Okay, okay. Oh, my gosh.

00:09:02 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 1:

Well, they said it's supposed to get a little bit better tonight, and by tomorrow, we should, like, noticeably see and feel an improvement. Thank you.

00:09:09 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 2:

I hope so. Jen, are you there, Jen? You too.

00:09:12 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 6:

Hi, I am.

00:09:13 - 00:09:14 | Speaker 2:

What did you want me to do?

00:09:14 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 6:

So, you guys know the rapper G. Matt Cash?

00:09:18 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, the Tigers won again. The Pistons won again. The Lions won again.

00:09:24 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 6:

He just released a song about I can't go outside.

00:09:27 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 2:

Oh, really? Of course.

00:09:28 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 6:

Okay. Is it clean? Like bad air, I can't go outside. Yeah. Well, no, no, you've got to believe it.

00:09:38 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 1:

I'm sorry. My mouth is just like, what?

00:09:40 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

Hold on. I'm ready to go. Real quick. Isn't that the same Does he do a song that's different though I love G-Mac It sounds like it's the same one For every one of these ones The air lost again G-Mac G-Mac do you have a clean version of that song Jen That song probably has

00:10:00 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 6:

You did say, all right, I'm going to go check it out. We'll have to share it as I get in the car. Let's share that. Oh, cool. Yeah. We'll share that on there. Hold on a second. All right. Well, be careful and please take care of yourself. Did your grandma ever get her air conditioning? She don't want it. But she doesn't want, need to have her windows open. You can't open your windows now.

00:10:24 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. No, she didn't open the windows to begin with. She said, I got three fans. I'm fine.

00:10:30 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 6:

Make sure she's safe, please.

00:10:32 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 5:

Let's get her an air purifier, too. I talk to her every day. I'm telling you she's good. Grandma mother, right? Yeah, she said I ain't going outside at all. She want me to wear a mask.

00:10:43 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 6:

She's on my head about that. You do have asthma, so this is...

00:10:47 - 00:10:47 | Unknown:

I do.

00:10:48 - 00:10:51 | Speaker 6:

Hey, by the way, Kevin's going to be in a good mood tomorrow when you can go out and see him.
