and business leaders have to say i would say bishop state's like a home for people it may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, put in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be that you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet Heads of new people have been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State, with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.

During that last break that we had, I went and just did a little thing on my son's radio show, The Joe Show, which is on the iHeartRadio app. You can find them, The Joe Show. You can put them on your presets, too, with Mojo in the Morning. That would be nice. Chelsea and I would appreciate it. But The Joe Show is on in Tampa. And this weekend in Tampa, Florida, they have their annual festival called Gasparella Festival.

00:02:47 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 1:

Why is it called that? Do you know?

00:02:50 - 00:03:09 | Speaker 5:

There's something to do with something with Gasparella. I don't know. But it's a pirate festival. Anybody knows the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Their mascot is a pirate. And they got pirate ship in their stadium and stuff like that. So I guess the pirates, I guess, saved Tampa or something. I don't know what the story is.

00:03:09 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 7:

I have no idea.

00:03:10 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 5:

I just have a son that lives here. I don't know. So this is actually kind of funny. So they have a festival, and it's literally where people do a parade through town, and they all get drunk, and they dress up like pirates. And we were just on the air talking about it, and Joe gets really into this. Joe and Jet are, like, super into it. Like, they go out, and they go out and buy costumes that are, like, all leather and stuff. Like, they look like the goofballs that go to the Renaissance Festival. love it and what we just talked about on the air was ashley said ashley goes i don't do this thing i won't dress up at all and i said ashley why is it that you won't dress up at all and ashley goes black people don't dress up as pirates or in any kind of costumes for goofy crazy stuff she says she's she says and those that don't know ashley who used to be on our show ashley nix ashley nix is black and so she says that she doesn't participate in stuff where she's dressing up unless it's halloween and she barely likes to do that and i said well that's not the case because kevin on our show is all excited for post malone i got the costume to come to town i want to say

00:04:19 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 7:

costume i got the cowboy fit in the amazon cart right now you have been talking about this for two months i'm ready to go ashley may be on to something because i didn't really start dressing up for real until last year but this year i'm with all the smoke i'm dressing up for everything

00:04:32 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 3:

and by the way you can call it a costume if you're buying it for a specific event you're only ever gonna wear it once every time i go to a country concert i look out look at all those girls

00:04:40 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 4:

hobbling in their new boots that they're only gonna wear once in their lives it's hysterical

00:04:45 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

but oh real quick jed just walked into the studio i also got another great one too uh to talk about here real quick jed say hi to everybody howdy howdy whatever joe and joe show joe just walked in too so uh we were just having a conversation about this gasparella thing

00:05:00 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 4:

Oh, and Ashley and Terry, the whole show came down. I love it. Everybody's here. I was just telling these guys about being on your show, talking about how black people don't dress up. Ashley, I'm dressing up, dog. But, yeah, Kev's into it. Kev, by the way, is getting his black card taken away from him.

00:05:16 - 00:05:17 | Speaker 6:

Oh, that's very rare.

00:05:18 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 4:

I'm with all the smoke. He likes this stuff. But real quick, this is a Gasparilla festival. And, Jed, what do people dress up as? They dress up as pirates.

00:05:27 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 3:

As what? Is that a pirate?

00:05:28 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 1:

What did you just say?

00:05:30 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 3:

Pyrates like it's the like the the word pirate is like I'm I'm pirating something off of somebody like you know when you then back in the early 2000s where it's a pirate no it's pirate here's the deal when you hire pirate okay Joe let me ask you this question then when you have when you rip a DVD that's like back in the day these just know you're pirating no you're

00:05:54 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 4:

No, you're not.

00:05:55 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 5:

No, you're pirating. No, you're not. It's a pirate fest. You didn't steal a car. It's Gasparilla. You're pirates. It's Pirates of the Caribbean.

00:06:06 - 00:06:16 | Speaker 4:

Jed's walking around. Oh, that's a good one. I go, Jed, what are you dressing on? He goes, I'm going to be a pirate. And I go, pirate, what is that? And then I'm realizing he can't pronounce the word. It's pirate.

00:06:16 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 3:

I'm telling you, what is, what are you saying the other way you say it? Pirate. That's all, folks. Pirate? it's a pirate it's a pirate you have a pirate you have a pirate it's not the pirates of the caribbean well when you get caught doing ripping a dvd or it's called pirate no it's called pirating it you're all right real quick i also say mustache wrong apparently too well how do you say it

00:06:43 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 2:

mustache mustache yeah what's do you do you also say advertisement instead of advertising

00:06:49 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

I do say aluminium sometimes. That's because I had an Australian science teacher.

00:06:57 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 5:

Instead of saying diesel, he says dissel.

00:06:59 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 3:

No, I do say diesel.

00:07:02 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 4:

Diesel, yeah. First off, okay, I've got a couple of things here I want to throw out. And these guys have got to go back to their show here sometime soon. So 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. What is the word that you have friends of yours that can't say? Because Jed can't say pirate. The other one is Ashley's on to something that black people just do not like to dress up in certain things.

00:07:22 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 5:

Black people dress up, too.

00:07:23 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 6:

Do you know, Kev, do you know a black pirate?

00:07:29 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 5:

You got me there. Yes, they were black pirates, historically accurate black pirates. There were plenty of them.

00:07:35 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 6:

I'm the captain now? Actually, I'm the captain now.

00:07:41 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 5:

I'm the captain now. I mean, pirates freed slaves and then they became pirates. That's how I read a history book real quick.

00:07:51 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 4:

Watch a movie, apparently, clearly, actually, at this Gasparilla Festival, because I'm going to get a chance to go to my very first one. Will I see any black people there?

00:08:02 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 6:

Like, you're going to see me. You're going to see Audrey, who's in promotion. You'll see maybe a black cat roaming the streets.

00:08:10 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 4:

Ashley, throw on a fit, man. Come on. Will you dress up at all?

00:08:15 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 6:

I'm going to have a hoodie on. I'm going to have a Joe show, find the Florida man hat on. I'm going to be warm.

00:08:20 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 5:

I told Ashley that I was going to buy her.

00:08:22 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 6:

Because he thinks that I'm a poor black lesbian that can't wear my own pirate outfit.

00:08:28 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 3:

That's the words that Ashley put out of Joe's mouth. Woke Ashley. No one likes woke Ashley.

00:08:34 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 4:

Hold on. Hold on. Carrie is there. Carrie, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning. How are you?

00:08:41 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Hi. Um, I grew up in Florida. He's totally saying pirate wrong. Okay. What part of Florida? I don't think that's just for Florida people. I grew up in Orlando, but I'd go to Tampa all the time.

00:08:52 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 3:

Oh, those Orlando people. We don't include them.

00:08:55 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 4:

I love Orlando people.

00:08:56 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 6:

I love Orlando.

00:08:57 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 4:

I've never, I have never heard anybody say pirate until I heard Jed say it.

00:09:02 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 5:

Okay, so Orlando. No, like old men.

00:09:06 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 4:

Old men, that's right. Old men. I am a 60-year-old man if you even saw what I was wearing right now. What's up, Casey? Thank you for the call, by the way, Carrie. Casey, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning. We're talking about how certain people can't say certain things. What's up?

00:09:19 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, he sounds just as ridiculous as my ex-husband when he used to say salmon instead of salmon.

00:09:26 - 00:09:27 | Unknown:

It's salmon.

00:09:29 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 4:

When he would say that, would you guys correct him? Or like if you guys went out to a restaurant, he said, I'll take the salmon with the waiter or waitress, look at him like he was crazy?

00:09:39 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 1:

100%. So my kids just now refer it to as pink fish. Throw it all over.

00:09:47 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

That's funny. You guys weren't in here when I talked about this. Thank you for the call, Ashley. So Kev's excited for the Post Malone Jelly Roll Tour. Yeah. He's going to dress up as a country guy. He's going to get in country outfit and all this.

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 5:

Right, the whole fit in the Amazon car. Now that I can get behind.

00:10:01 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 6:

Because you're going to a concert and you've got to fit in, bro.

00:10:04 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 5:

You're going to the biggest pirate fest. You're going to the second largest parade. You know how fly Kevin's got to look at some cowboy boots?

00:10:11 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 6:

You know how fly he's going to look at some cowboy boots?

00:10:13 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 1:

It's pirate. It's pirate.

00:10:17 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 3:

I love you, Jed.

00:10:20 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 1:

I've got to go see my mustache. I'll see you later.

00:10:23 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 3:

Love you.

00:10:24 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. I will say this, though.

00:10:26 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 3:

She's still yelling.

00:10:27 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 1:

Some people say losser. I'll say lasher.

00:10:31 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. That's one, too.

00:10:32 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 3:

That is a thing.

00:10:33 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 2:

Or gratiate. People say gratiate, I've heard. No, that's just wrong. That is pure. Melody says that I say something wrong that I should be making fun of Jed. Melanie, what do I do? Hi.

00:10:46 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 4:

Hi. You say realtor instead of realtor.

00:10:50 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 3:

I think that's a popular one, though. Yeah, I refuse to pronounce that correctly. But it's wrong. I don't care. No, I know. I know. I'm just saying, like, the pyrite thing, Jed's the only one. But the realtor, realtor, whatever, whichever one's right.

00:11:03 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 6:

They all say nuclear?

00:11:05 - 00:11:07 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's true. Like a nuclear bomb.

00:11:07 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 3:

Like, nobody says February. Right. Nobody. Library. Nobody says that, you know?

00:11:14 - 00:11:36 | Speaker 2:

Oh, we should not be bringing this up because then we're going to bring out that lady that always yells at Kevin all the time. My girl Valerie. Yeah, is that who it is? Her name is Valerie? The PTO police? Yeah. What does she yell at you about? Some PTO related. Yeah. She gets all crazy with, anytime Kevin says words, she'll be like, oh, somebody texts

00:11:36 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 1:

every time I say ask. So I got to slow it down so I can make sure I pronunciate every single syllable and ask. It's not X.

00:11:44 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 3:

It's ask. Kev, say similar.

00:11:46 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 1:

Similar.

00:11:47 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 3:

No, that's not how you say it. When I say similar. He said it. Similar.

00:11:50 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 1:

I'll be saying similar.

00:11:51 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:11:52 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 2:

Similar. Come on. I'll say this. All those that were just given as quick examples, those are all ones from saying something probably too fast. Pirate makes no sense at all. That's like talking out of your pirate ass at that moment. Hold on a second. Grab Hunter real quick because this is funny. Hunter, are you there? What's up, Hunter?

00:12:17 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 6:

Hi. So my sisters say pollen instead of toilet. What is it? Oh, that's a southern thing, isn't it?

00:12:26 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:12:26 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 6:

Toilet? Toilet? We're from northern Ohio. All of them are.

00:12:30 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 2:

Well, that is kind of the thing.

00:12:31 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 6:

Bro, every once in a while, Ohioans say something very southern, and I'm like, no, we're in the north. No, no, no.

00:12:37 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 2:

I had an aunt that used to call it a turlet instead of a toilet. A turlet.

00:12:40 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 6:

I love when people say turlet.

00:12:42 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 3:

Oh, wersh. Oh, I hate wersh. Or wersh. Wersh is close, yeah. Is that a wersh? It's not a crick. Like, have you ever heard anybody who can't say drororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororororor

00:13:18 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 6:

Drives me nuts.

00:13:19 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:13:20 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 6:

And a friend that says milk instead of milk. That's another super popular one.

00:13:25 - 00:13:42 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. The milk one is a big one. I used to get made fun of all the time. Yeah. The pillow one is kind of funny, too. I'm going to lay on my pillow. And you say it like that. How about Brock? Grab Brock for a second. Brock, your dad can't say the word huge?

00:13:44 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 4:

No. No matter how hard he tries, he always pronounces it. U-G-E, so he'll always have a huge surprise for us. A huge. That's all I'm saying. That's true. An absolutely huge surprise. Huge. And, hey, Kev, first time, long time. Hey, the box on the field.

00:14:03 - 00:14:05 | Speaker 1:

I love the name, Brock.

00:14:05 - 00:14:15 | Speaker 4:

I can't tell you guys. Love you guys. I can't tell you how long I've been waiting to get into you guys. I've been listening for probably about 10 years since I was in high school. We love you, too.

00:14:15 - 00:14:24 | Speaker 2:

That's huge. Thank you for that. Appreciate it. angelica's next angelica what's up it's mojo in the morning what is the word you can't pronounce

You got my name wrong, like, two months ago, and it's Angelica, and you pronounce it like a drunk person.

00:14:57 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 2:

I said Angelica or something later.

00:15:00 - 00:15:07 | Speaker 1:
