Talk to me. Talk to me real quick about you and Josiah. Did you get to spend the whole weekend with him? Is that how it works with him?

Yes. I mean, so now, since he's out of school, we do one week on, one week off parenting. I don't have to wake up and take him to school in the morning. So I had him fried. Well, I didn't have him fried because I was outside Friday. I needed a day. So I got him Saturday morning and took him to swim class. And Josiah loves animation. He loves character design. He loves drawing. He loves voiceover work. And Josiah has truly found himself, his passion, and through the internet and making the world a little smaller, a community of people who share similar interests as him. And he's truly found, like, his identity in one of his favorite shows, which is called, like, The Adventures of Gumball. And there's a character named Darwin, and Josiah has been doing voiceovers for this character through this thing called Discord, which is a platform where literally people are reanimating the show.

Is that what you showed us the other day? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Yes, yes. He's crazy good.

He does voiceovers. For real. For real. And he liked to pop his spit a little bit, be like, I'm the coldest Darwin in the world. Like, that's how he's, like, people reach out to him. He got offered some money for one. Like, this is his thing. So, long story short, Josiah is so passionate about this, but he's also scared because, you know, like, in the industry, when you're a child, your voice changes. And the real life, quote unquote, Darwin, they've cycled through three or four of them because I need my character to sound a certain way. And if I hire you at 10, you turn 14, the voice crack, you start to sound more adult. Josiah sends me a text message. Long as hell. I open it up. It's like a book, like a devotional. I'm reading it. He asks for y'all, asks me. Hold on a second. Hold on. He got it. He asked me, to go back, can he take puberty-blocking medication?

How does he know about that?

He's smart as hell. Probably Googled it.

Exactly. Wow. Blew my mind, bro. Now, obviously, in my mind, I'm like, hell no. Yeah. The whole text message, it looked like it was through ChatGPT because the wording he was using, he was like he was also he said i would appreciate it if we could sit down together with the doctor so you can learn more about it i'm not having you know this isn't any identity situation i just want to make sure that my voice doesn't change i'm like in my mind i'm like it ain't no effing way we gonna do this at all i didn't tell him that though but so you haven't answered him whether

Like, you know, and you had to give your birth certificate and stuff. And Coach McIntyre goes, man, that kid's so big. What did he do, drive to the game? And Coach McIntyre looked at the guy and goes, no, his wife drove him.

But there are those kids that you look at and you're like, that's not a sophomore. That's a 30-year-old man.

Now back to Josiah. So Josiah is, by the way, this is what the Internet has gotten to. These kids know more than we know, man. The fact that he knows even about any of the stuff he's doing right now, like it's pretty amazing. I mean, it's, it's unreal, but he, you know, he's doing, he's, he's, do we have any, do you have any audio?

That one clip's so short. Do you think while you're looking for it, do you think he learned about this idea of puberty blockers from other people on discord? I think talking about, I think he probably Googled it himself.

Okay. Like, for a while, Josiah has talked about, Dad, this is what I want to do. Like, he's trying to make his voice almost in a Michael Jackson-like, where he'll talk kind of softer, like, in that character. And he's made the point of saying, like, I don't want my voice to change. I don't want to grow up. I want to stay 12 forever.

i think about a lot of the voice actors who like i've watched interviews with for really popular shows the simpsons or you know whatever um nicktoons rugrats where the it's adults voicing kid characters and they they are so talented that they can change their voice to sound like that so So that might be part of the discussion, too, is that's part of the talent is learning how to do that, how to make your voice sound like that all the time. That's good.

Jason Texton said that, and I don't know if you found this online, Michael Jackson's old doctor, Conrad Murray, said that Joe Jackson had Michael chemically castrated, that that's what he did to get his voice that way. So when young children have identity crisis or a sex crisis and they want a sex change they have to go through so much therapy before their doctors will even allow them to start chemical therapy to you know begin that process and i think that if somebody wants to do something that's going to stunt them in some way shape or form forever then they should have to go through the same process to make sure they're not going to regret it eventually but at least his intentions for doing it are awesome kudos to him for you Wanting to do something that's going to better his life and give him a good life in something that he's passionate about.

that's facts bro that's facts so is his thing now that he wants to be an animator and voice actor

he want to do it all this is a portion of his he said I'm asking if we can talk to a doctor about using puberty blockers long term until I'm around 20 so I can keep my voice the way it is for voice acting and performing this isn't about an identity or anything like that it's about giving me time to keep developing my skills and voice career while i'm still young i know you might have concerns but puberty blockers are used safely and for many kids and teens under professional medical care they're reversible and monitored by doctors and then that's like a portion of this long ass text message bro jeez all i said at the end of it was i love you he was like did you even read the message i'm like i did i read all of it we'll

talk about it and he hasn't brought it up since you got it so i'm hoping he just brushed it off
