Something happened to KP, our producer, yesterday that I think she's got to bring up on the air because I think that what happened to KP was wrong and they shouldn't be allowed to do this. So did you guys know that KP is ready to break her grandparents' hearts?

For those that don't know, KP lives with your, what do you call her granny and uh papa gram and gramps gram and grams um she lives with them in a senior living uh uh neighborhood it's one happy family and the youngest of the senior living neighborhood is about to move out you know you're not only going to break their hearts when you do this you're going to break the hearts of every elderly person in that neighborhood that especially those old dudes that sit there and say oh look at that cutie pie coming home you know kp don't do it

But you know what, Megan? I'm having second thoughts after what just happened to me the other day. I found a place that I really, really liked for a good price. I'm looking for a two bed, less than two grand. I got it for, I was looking, it's like $1,600. Okay. And I'm like, oh my gosh, that's a steal. Like a nice area. In a nice neighborhood too, right? Nice neighborhood. It's an old, old building, which I love. I love that old look, but make it new. And it's all brick walls in there. I love it. It has a sunroom sold. I will take it. And the big thing for me is I want to be able to pay for it without a roommate first and then find someone to live with after. Okay. Okay. Have a place. So this was sold for me. And I applied and I got it. And then the dude goes, well, actually, it's like, it's two grand. It's not $1,600. So he all of a sudden is $400 more. $400 more. And I'm like, no, sorry, I can't pay that. That's not what I toured. You showed me the room and everything. And it's $400 more suddenly after I apply and get approved and pay for the credit check? Like, why?

So is the guy the landlord or who is he?

It's somebody representing an owner, I think. Like a real estate person. Yeah. Okay, so I feel like you need to go above his head because I feel like he's trying to make 400 quick bucks. I don't know. And I said to him, that's a lot extra. And this area is in downtown Ferndale, too, so it's like, I'm going to have to pay for parking.

So he told you that the place was $1,600 a month for a two-bedroom. Then you got all excited. You toured it with him, looked at the place, said, I'm in, filled out the app, came back and said, I'm wrong on this. Did you see the ad for the place or anything?

Yeah, there's an ad and they don't have, since it's under construction, there's like renderings of the place online, so I had to physically walk and see it. I don't even know what the ad results can look like.

But did the ad say $1,600? Oh, yeah. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah, there you go. There's another ad. Where's Attorney General Dana Nessel? I need her right now.

There's another ad, though, that says a higher price, but it doesn't specify which unit. There's like, I think there's like 12 units in the building, and the one that is $1,600 is in the basement and there's no windows. And I'm like, no, I'm a depression girly, I need light. Call me crazy, but like, isn't $1,600 a lot? for an apartment yes it is a mortgage but not in that area i mean yeah it's a cool area in ferndale and royal oak right now is like kind of ridiculous it's insane it's very sad unfortunately like so many comments like you could literally like own a house for that much money it's like but then again i don't want to own house because megan told me not to and also we don't own houses

around here those are bad decisions absolutely we stay at home with a family as long as possible

in these parts stay with gram and grams don't move out heather this this sounds like a scam

doesn't it it sounds kind of fishy my best friend literally called me last night telling me she just gave this guy fifty four hundred dollars because he kept upping the price on her eight hundred dollar a month lease he's going to keep asking for more money i would call the the management company directly like a supervisor and find out yeah i don't even know if i'd call them i think

I'd call somebody like with the Better Business Bureau or, you know, I don't know, who do you go to on this stuff? I think that this has to be, if so many people are texting us right now saying about rent control and how high rent is gone and how people are changing, because we're getting like 20 texts right now of people that said that they've had similar things happening. Why is our attorney general not looking into that? Or why is, you know, the prosecutors, the local county prosecutors not looking into this?

Do we want to really rant about this? You have to report something.

My friend is an attorney. She recommends reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission if you look into it and figure out it is a scam and file a police report as soon as possible as soon as you figure out it's a scam.

But I was actually looking for it with my dad and he called them out on a bait and switch and was able to get the price lower again. Hell yeah. That's good. Can we have your dad to call

up for this one too? I got you, Casey. You know what? I texted Mojo right away and I was like, hey, they did this. And he's like, you should negotiate. I'm like, well, maybe you should get my radio dad. You can negotiate for me. How about that? By the way, I'm the worst negotiator ever.

I just want you to know that The only thing I will do in a negotiation Is, and I never do the name drop And I work at the radio station Any of that stuff like that But the only thing that I will do Is I'll try to make them be aware of what we do Because if they're a fan maybe we'll get A little bit more of a discount

I never get anything, I went to go buy a table the other day And the guy recognized me and he's like Oh I'm such a huge fan, I'm waiting for the like I'll give you a hundred bucks off this table He's like alright I'll take the money now And he took the money from me

Because the thing is, they think you're working on the radio, so they think you got money.

So they're like, yes, everybody thinks we have money. Okay, but you think people would be nicer to the people with the big microphones in front?

You know what I'm saying? Well, I don't know. But in this case, they've got better because we're talking about it on the radio.

I can't say what it is.

And I also will say this. Part of me wonders if, because you are young, you are blonde, if, like, this guy's taking advantage of you. Yes.

Like, I wonder if this guy's taking advantage of you. Maybe here's what we do. Maybe I go in there and look at the apartment for $1,600 and see if the guy gives it, and then when he gives it to me for $1,600, I jump out with John Quinones at What Would You Do from ABC. Oh, my gosh. Undercover.
