details. This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:53 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 2:

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, Not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on the website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like it's all moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.

It's Mojo in the morning. Megan had one of those moments where you get so excited because you think something is going to be for you, only to have it completely ripped away from you. And this was, what, yesterday here at the radio station. I think I saw this happening, by the way, when I was in the studio looking out the window.

00:03:03 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 6:

I'm just so hard.

00:03:05 - 00:03:06 | Speaker 7:

No more crying for me.

00:03:06 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 6:

Okay, all right, all right, all right.

00:03:08 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 7:

By the way, listeners are saying that Kev and I are next. Yeah. Because you and Shannon have cried the last two days in a row. At 7.30!

00:03:16 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 6:

right here. Kev's crying. That was a great elf reference. I hate all of you. Okay, so I yesterday was hanging around the office and one of our straight team members was working the front door and like giving prizes to listeners who had won something and stuff like that. So she's the sweetest girl in the entire world and she comes up to me and she goes, hey Megan, I've got something for you. And I turn around and she's carrying this huge tray. I'm like, for moi? Yes, please. And I kind of go like, you know that scurry walk you do when you're excited? And you're like, ooh.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 7:

What was it, a tray of?

00:03:57 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 6:

Well, that's when I realized it was a tray of, a giant tray, by the way, of edible arrangements. And I was like, oh, my God, I deserve this. And I was like, who are these from? This is so interesting. And she goes, well, they're for KP. Can you give them to her? And I immediately went, wah, wah. I got so excited that somebody loved me enough to send me something. And then I realized, nope, not me.

00:04:26 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 5:

Is that the one that has, like, all the snowmen and stars? It's, like, very Christmassy looking. Yes.

00:04:31 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 7:

Wait, so KP got an edible arrangement. Who's this edible arrangement from?

00:04:36 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, wait, who's that from? Yeah, you all want a cookie? Megan, you want a cookie? No, cookies on it. My secret admirer.

00:04:42 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 7:

Wait a second. Hold on. You got an edible. For real?

00:04:45 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, my secret admirer.

00:04:46 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 7:

Who did you get it from, honestly?

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 5:

Was there a card? You want to know?

00:04:50 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. This is my personal life. Why did I tell you guys anything? Because I was respectful enough to not open up the card, and it killed me. It absolutely killed me. Why do I owe you anything? I don't have a personal life.

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 1:

We're just not being rude.

00:05:01 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 2:

Is it the last guy that you talked about on the radio recently? That guy that... No. Because I will say this. If a man that's trying to date you gets you an edible arrangement, run.

00:05:13 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 6:

Why do you say that? Why do you say that? I a million percent agree with that. Send it to your word. Well, why the... Red flag.

00:05:19 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 2:

Because edible arrangements is like... I mean, it's a fruit basket, basically. Might as well send me a damn Build-A-Bear.

00:05:26 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 6:

Also, kiss of death in a relationship.

00:05:28 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 3:

So let me ask you this.

00:05:29 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 6:

With the recording on the inside.

00:05:30 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 3:

You're a grown woman. I like you. So when you look at it, you don't look at it as just the nice gesture.

00:05:35 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 2:

No, you look at it as there's no potential romance in an edible arrangement. Edible arrangement is something that you give to a client or to a neighbor that took in your garbage cans.

00:05:48 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 5:

A nurse that went above and beyond for a loved one in the hospital. Wait, was it from a client?

00:05:52 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 2:

Who was it from?

00:05:53 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 4:

I'm not telling you guys. You cannot do this. That's not fair. Where's the card? I'm going to get it. I say you owe me this. I will tell you. He's the love of my life. He changes my oil. He fixes my car. It's Mike Porter. What? Oh, okay. He's my bestie, yeah.

00:06:13 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 2:

That is so nice of him. Like, now that, see, that makes sense. Mike is kind of an edible arrangements kind of guy.

00:06:18 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, because it's not romantic. It's not romantic. It's not romantic.

00:06:21 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 4:

In the slightest, he gave me chocolate-covered panda bears. It's not romantic. No, those were snowmen-covered pineapple.

00:06:28 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 2:

KP does work for Mike. Does, you know, Gordon Chevrolet work for those guys and is a customer also of Gordon Chevrolet. That is a very nice thing. Now, let me say this to you. If that one dude, the country-looking guy that you were just trying to date, if that guy got you one, Shannon and I both are on the page of.

00:06:46 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 5:

I agree.

00:06:47 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 2:

A guy, guys cannot, and Megan, you cannot give as a, you'll have to call us up and tell us.

00:06:52 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 6:

It's not romantic.

00:06:53 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 2:

If you agree or disagree with that, ladies, do you agree? Because Kev's, he's giving them. No, no, no. Can you tell? Yeah.

00:06:58 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, he has. Because here's the thing, though. It's not like a romantic thing. But like, yeah, if you want to serve, maybe girl, some fruit, some chocolate-covered strawberries to put in her mouth, let's get it.

00:07:08 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 5:

I feel like the only acceptable thing from there is the chocolate-covered strawberries, but most guys don't want to spend the money on that, so they just send you like the pineapple flowers. And I'm like, no thanks.

00:07:17 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 4:

I want to clear something up. There's nobody I'm pursuing, but if the guy did give me an edible arrangement, I'd probably get the it quicker than anything on this one.

00:07:27 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 2:

That's why I also think it's a bad thing to take your guy or take your girl out for fondue. I think that that's a bad idea, too.

00:07:34 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 6:

Where did that come from?

00:07:36 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 2:

Because I think that, what is that place called? The Melting Pot. If you take a date to the Melting Pot, it's a bad meal because you're having to work hard. You have to put skewers in the frickin' bowls of things.

00:07:50 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 5:

Not the skewers.

00:07:51 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 2:

I don't want skewers. I want somebody cooking for me. I always said that. But Kelsey, what's going on?

00:07:59 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 1:

Hey, I just had a comment on the edible arrangements that my fat ass would appreciate that. If you give me flowers, I'm just going to kill them after a couple of days and forget to water them. So I would like that. I love you.

00:08:12 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 6:

But this, you're just going to eat it and poop them out. There's no difference between the flowers dying and, you know.

00:08:18 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 2:

Don't call yourself fad, Kelsey. By the way, I would think, though, that if he's giving you an edible arrangement, he's thinking that you need to eat healthier. and have more fruit in your life.

00:08:28 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 6:

To me, that screams zero creativity.

00:08:30 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 5:

You Googled what's a nice thing to send to somebody that I'm not near. And the sponsored post was the edible arrangement. And I'm telling you, Build-A-Bear is right up.

00:08:42 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 6:

And that's creepy.

00:08:43 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 2:

That's like I have sex with minors.

00:08:45 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 6:

Every relationship, minus one, that has ended in my life. It ended right after they sent the Build-A-Bear.

00:08:51 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

I went to a ditty party.

00:08:52 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 6:

Who sends a Build-A-Beard to an adult with a birth certificate? Are you effing kidding me? They named it. They named it. What was the name? There were many. There were many.

00:09:05 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 2:

Hey, Stacey, what's up, Stacey? Teach me your ways.

00:09:07 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 1:

Hey, so I was just wondering why you all said that it was just a nice gesture, but a couple months ago, my boy Kevin gave it to the school. You all was on his head. Okay, so that's different.

00:09:18 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 6:

You're missing the point. You're missing the point. not romantic equals acceptable romantic equals not acceptable if kevin's giving it to a girl

00:09:27 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 1:

it's a bad move right but you all just i mean i don't know kevin kevin did it to be nice and then you all said that all around edible arrangements are romantic but now on uh when she got hers it's oh you know you can do it for a nurse did you say that i don't know here's what i remember You were eating between the lines.

00:09:50 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 5:

Here's what I remember. He wanted to do flowers. We said flowers were too romantic. He said edible arrangement. We said, please don't do that. Why don't you send like donuts or.

00:10:00 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 3:

breakfast or something yeah something fun asia what's up it's mojo in the morning

00:10:03 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 7:

hey i would definitely take an edible arrangement over flowers i hate flowers come on queen call in queens i hate you like getting flowers i can never keep them alive they don't last that long for me

00:10:17 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 5:

i'm i'm good on flowers yeah so wait you'd rather take a piece of honeydew over flowers yeah honey

00:10:23 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 3:

the worst cantaloupe and honey don't knock on cantaloupe

00:10:29 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 7:

not in a flower shape as a gift

00:10:31 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 3:

Joni I'm adding you to this Asia says that edible arrangements are better than flowers what do you think

00:10:37 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 6:

well sort of I agree but they are not

00:10:41 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 3:

there's no romance

00:10:43 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 6:

no there's no romance with edible arrangements so my husband I like them to eat them they taste good But he brings flowers with him.

00:10:54 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:10:55 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 6:

Are they a good, like, thank you? It depends on your person. It depends on your person.

00:10:59 - 00:10:59 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:10:59 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 3:

I don't know. To me, I'm not big on that. I like, I know this is going to sound weird. I like the mixed nuts basket. Like, I like the, you know, nibbles and nooks or whatever it is. I love that.

00:11:13 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 5:

Can I hear you and David? Can I hear you and David?

00:11:15 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 3:

No, there's a place on Northwestern Highway that all my Jewish friends always get for, like, shivas. because they get nibbles and nooks. What's going on? What's going on, Brandy?

00:11:25 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 7:

You are making this up. Swear to you. Swear to God. Like the last person said, it all depends on the person. I love fruit. I love fruit because not only is it healthy, but it's sweet. It's naturally sweet. So if someone sent me edible arrangements and it was the flower bouquet, you get flowers and fruit. No.

00:11:44 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 5:

Edible arrangements, the thing you send to somebody, you don't know any part of their personality or interest to get them a gift they actually want.

00:11:50 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 7:

No, no. If my boyfriend knew me and he knew I loved fruit, that would be the perfect gift. He knows how to give me flowers. Flowers die. That's stupid.

00:11:57 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 3:

I don't like to give you fruit that's too sugary because I'm afraid about your diabetes.

00:12:02 - 00:12:22 | Speaker 4:

You guys. So y'all telling me if a man see y'all. Wiggles and nuts is real. Yes. I told you. Swear to God, I know that. If a man see y'all chocolate-covered strawberries, that's not a romantic gift? That's romance. That's the only thing. What did I say, though? That is from Edible Arrangement. You weren't listening. I said. So there are exceptions to the edible arrangement rule.

00:12:22 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 5:

That's what I said. Listen to me. I just want to be clear. I'm literally clarified.

00:12:26 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 3:

Pay attention, Kev. Come on. See that? I just want to be clear. You're missing everybody's love language. What's up, Shay? Hi. What's the love language? I'm sorry. No, Princess. Princess.

00:12:35 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 4:

I know your love language. Nibbles and nuts. What's going on? Jesus Christ.

00:12:40 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 3:

What's going on, Princess?

00:12:43 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 6:

Hi. I was just calling to say I feel a little attacked. I'm 32 and I collect dilded bears.

00:12:48 - 00:12:49 | Speaker 5:

That's different.

00:12:49 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 7:

That is different.

00:12:51 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 5:

Did you buy them for yourself? Is that more wrong? Okay, strange, but different. That's so different. Different, so different. Strange, but different.

00:13:01 - 00:13:05 | Speaker 2:

Giving somebody a Build-A-Bear is like getting matching tattoos of each other's names.

00:13:05 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 3:

Could you imagine going to a girl career and she's got 30 Build-A-Bears?

00:13:08 - 00:13:11 | Speaker 2:

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being an adult woman with a Build-A-Bear.

00:13:11 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 3:

Hey, question for you, Prince. Which is your favorite Build-A-Bear?

00:13:15 - 00:13:23 | Speaker 7:

I was gifted a bull No The giant one No it's not a big one

00:13:23 - 00:13:28 | Speaker 5:

They sound like $100 Build-A-Bears They're huge They're so cool

00:13:28 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 3:

Hold on Lydia just told me Lydia just told me I need to pick up Adriana Adriana

00:13:32 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 5:

00:13:57 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, love them.

00:13:58 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 3:

Amazing. So you're ripping those clothes off and doing anything for that guy, aren't you?

00:14:03 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 7:

Absolutely.

00:14:04 - 00:14:05 | Speaker 3:

All right, we love you.

00:14:05 - 00:14:33 | Speaker 2:

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:15:42 - 00:16:27 | Speaker 3:

My name is Natarika, Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explains and shows them that they're here to help us.

00:16:27 - 00:16:34 | Speaker 1:
