our lives we look for as much good in the world as we possibly can with tell me something good and we talk through the biggest news stories of the day and also your biggest and favorite country artists are always stopping by on the gulf coast check us out on 95 ksj and lock us in as a preset on the free iheart radio app today can i call out something i'm going to call out

00:01:17 - 00:01:40 | Speaker 3:

something with uh somebody on the show here for one second i think sometimes people don't understand how unbelievably nice and sweet some people are on this radio show. We all get bad images. Well, Kevin on the show yesterday, I witnessed Kevin and he was on the phone and I was like hearing him having a conversation. I was eavesdropping. So don't be mad at me for doing this.

00:01:40 - 00:01:43 | Speaker 2:

That just seems really not like you. Yeah, right?

00:01:43 - 00:01:57 | Speaker 3:

And I thought to myself, I'm like, oh, Kevin sounds like he's buying something for one of the many girls that are in his life. And it's true, he was. He was buying his mom a new battery for her car because her battery broke.

00:01:57 - 00:01:57 | Speaker 1:

What?

00:01:57 - 00:02:16 | Speaker 3:

And I'm listening to him doing this, and I'm thinking to myself, you know what? This guy is not so bad. That was very sweet. Yeah. Your mom needed a battery, and you ended up, you know, flipping the bill, or what is it called? Fitting. Fitting the bill. Fitting the bill. You're flipping the bill. You're footing the bill. Yeah.

00:02:16 - 00:03:18 | Speaker 2:

I don't know what it is. I feel like as you're saying this, as I was kind of thinking about it after it happened, I think my mom, who's, you know, they say don't sell a woman's age, but she's, you know, she's not a spring chicken. She in her 60s at this point. We're in an interesting time where I'm starting to like take care and handle more things for her. And not necessarily are the roles reversing, but paying a bill online because maybe she doesn't know how to do it. Or sending her toilet paper through Amazon because it's just easier. but like having to do certain things for my parents that I didn't think that I'll have to be doing this early and it's like I'm at this kind of like weird moment where I'm like trying to figure out my life yeah and kind of identify stability and what that looks like for me while still trying to chase greatness and success and all of that but still having like the other hand in it where I'm like at the same time trying to help and do all these things for my mom and she's starting to get older and make it easier for her i thought that was so sweet you caught me in one of

00:03:18 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 3:

those moments no i thought it was so sweet because i gotta tell you something man that's very you kev that is i love my mama i don't always show her but i was one of those you you uh you are a great guy and i think sometimes and i'm not bringing this up on the air to try to do anything like you know where i'm trying to pour accolades on you because of you know it was a battery but that was you didn't have to do it but i think that sometimes people don't understand how sweet of a guy you know he is when they hear him talking about his thumb and you talked about that was all you you know what i mean like there is there are times there are times when i sit there and i go wow and i don't have a mom you know and i haven't had one in a while because she'd passed but i sit there and think i think that would be something i would do for my mom if my yeah you know i mean i'd do that or just get her an uber you know i'm not the same but it But it's, and honestly, I'm bringing this up not even knowing if there's a topic in this at all, because we always, you know, look to do topics, but sometimes I sit there and I go, you know, sometimes we don't realize how roles do get reversed. Like, it's weird, like when we're kids, you know, our parents take care of us, right? They give us our lunch money, you know, they buy us our clothes and put, you know, food in our mouths and stuff like that. And then later in life, when we get older to a certain point, it's almost kind of like we're giving back you know and taking care of them and when does my when do my kids actually start doing that good luck buddy you're still pretty self-sufficient yeah but that's the

00:04:55 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 1:

mine is going up and down stairs apparently mine is going i know My son laughed at me when I fell down the stairs, literally still laughs at me about it. What's up, Michelle? How you doing?

00:05:06 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 4:

Good morning. Well, Kevin, um, you saved the day, um, with my two daughters at the Barbie preview movie. Um, my daughter has a pink car and her card was not working to leave the parking garage. And without hesitation, you were so generous and just came up and swiped your card for my girls. And I love you for that. Thank you.

00:05:30 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 1:

No problem. Who is this, Michelle? That's nice. That was so nice of him. I didn't even know he did that. That's crazy.

00:05:37 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. It was super sweet of him.

00:05:40 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 1:

That is, this guy hasn't bought me anything. What is going on here? I could use maybe a breakfast or something every now and again. I got you tomorrow. I'll do something nice for you tomorrow. Actually, I got to tell you, though, he did say to me that he wants to come over and drink from my bourbon collection because I, so we're going to, I think we are going to have a drink or something. I'm going to take you home tomorrow. I like it. Thank you. I need rides by the way, Michelle. Do you know that I'm, I'm actually dependent on people driving me because I can't

00:06:09 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 3:

drive for like another week. My daughter can come pick you up in her pink and her pink car.

00:06:15 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 1:

That's sweet. Tell her we say. It's very nice, Michelle. I appreciate that. All right. Let me ask you this question. All right. Now I'm going to flip the script on this one here and I'll, I'll take some more of these calls that are coming in, just the nice calls. How many people have to actually support their freaking mothers? Are there any people that are out there listening to this thing going, I got to support my mom. Like, I got to take care of everything for her. Because I wonder sometimes about that. Like, I wonder how many times people have to deal with, you know, that at a certain age. Like a complete role reversal.

00:06:45 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 4:

That would be super tough.

00:06:46 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 1:

Oh, I couldn't imagine the stress that that would be. What's up, Leah? How you doing?

00:06:51 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 3:

Hi, good morning. How are you guys? We're great.

00:06:53 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 1:

What's going on? I'm sitting over here next to our Lord and Savior. What's happening? Oh, Leo.

00:07:01 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 3:

I just wanted to say I work in the senior living industry, and this sandwich generation, kind of what Kev's talking about, about taking care of himself, his kids, but now also his parents. It's a very common thing, and you're not alone, Kev, and working in these senior livings, sometimes a lot of people don't have family to just send them a box of tissues. so you know don't be so hard on yourself and just know that there's so many resources out there if you ever need anything um i love being an advocate for for families and it's just it's it's something

00:07:33 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 1:

that a lot of what is that called again is saying you're got me confused the sand what is it sandwich

00:07:37 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 3:

what sandwich generation it's called the sandwich generation what is that basically you have you know you have your own family that you're taking care of and then you have your i don't want to say elderly because i don't think kevin's mom's elderly by any means but just you know aging parents again yes and then you have yourself who's sandwiched in between both of them you also have to take care of yourself so there's just that dynamic shift of like am i a parent am i a child am i you know what what am i man do i feel that i've never heard that name but that makes total

00:08:09 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 1:

sense to me that's interesting yeah well thank you leah for the the call it's very nice of you to point that out. I never knew that at all. I just learned yesterday, what was it? Instead of instead of Oh God, what the hell was it? It was in our prep yesterday. I saw it in the prep. The new dating thing. Oh, I didn't see it. Oh God, forget it. Move on. I'll remember. No, it's a new term that I never heard of before. There's a new term every week. They're so dumb. It was fog lighting or something like that. There was like a new term instead of gas lighting. It was like fog lighting or something. I don't know. And I'm like, oh, good. Something to take over gaslighting because I hate when people call in and they go, they're gaslighting me. I'm like, oh, let's put that one to bed. That was two, five years ago. What's going on, Elizabeth?

00:09:00 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 2:

Hey, how are you guys doing this morning? Good. What's up? Good. So I actually had the pleasure of getting to know Kev prior to his time in radio. I'm friends with very good close friends of him, the Galloways. Okay. And I actually got to go to Mexico. Okay, yeah. And I got to see him, and he's just such a good person, and his heart is just pure gold. So, Kev, we wanted to shout you out. We love you so much. Love you, too. You're the best.

00:09:31 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 1:

Wait, that was a good trip. Did he do anything?

00:09:32 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 2:

Talking about, like, Langston Galloway?

00:09:34 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 1:

No, the one that came in here. Shout out Langston Galloway.

00:09:36 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 4:

Oh, okay.

00:09:37 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

Did he, Elizabeth, did he do anything at night when everybody gets crazy in Mexico? We don't have to talk about that.

00:09:44 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

We're not going to talk about that.
