Mojo in the morning. man Kev has no fun going on right now we just talked yesterday I think it was on the show about how Kev is three weeks celibate three weeks in a day three weeks in a day without being in the arms of a beautiful woman or myself and then then I just found out did you know that he quit

00:01:47 - 00:01:54 | Speaker 2:

Instagram well I had he he mentioned something in the studio yesterday i saw you put your phone down and

00:01:54 - 00:02:15 | Speaker 5:

you're like man i'm addicted to instagram yeah the crazy thing is when you guys were talking about victor looking at chelsea's story i had no idea what i was talking about because i didn't see her story because i don't have instagram we talked about crystal and her birthday pictures i had no idea what you were talking about because i don't have instagram as of yesterday as of yesterday like the probably the moment that i said i'm addicted to instagram i deleted the app off my

00:02:15 - 00:02:20 | Speaker 4:

phone are you addicted to looking at instagram are you addicted to the dms that come through

00:02:20 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 5:

instagram it's looking at instagram it'll be a point where you'll pull out your phone you'll go on instagram you'll scroll your post hit the explorer page or look at the dm somebody sends you a video you do all the things you normally do yeah and then you'll leave the app because i guess you're you're satisfied at that point five minutes later i'm back on the app why am i doing

00:02:42 - 00:02:48 | Speaker 4:

it is it's a bag of doritos you can't ever put them down or whatever your favorite snack is i

00:02:48 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 5:

feel like everybody i do that i feel so draining to me though and i can't like i feel like there's moments and to your point about like not having fun right now in this season of my life i feel like there are certain points where i don't feel in control yeah and it's another thing where i

00:03:02 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 4:

feel like instagram has me and i don't have it so when you say you're giving it up you didn't like delete your account because some people do that and they lose their entire account i think it's

00:03:12 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 5:

stupid they do that i'm never doing no kev knows it's too cold of a name what'd you do you just log out i just deleted the app like you hold the app and you remove it wait if your phone do you

00:03:21 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 4:

still remember your password because i never remember my password i think if i re-download

00:03:25 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 5:

it like if i go to the app store it'll just you know populate as if it was never deleted are you

00:03:29 - 00:03:36 | Speaker 4:

sure that doesn't like to re-log in okay yeah we'll see you got to re-log in what what if what

00:03:36 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 2:

if you just deleted your entire you did not delete your account you deleted the app from your device Correct.

00:03:42 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 5:

Hopefully, the email address or my cell phone number is still the same list.

00:03:46 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 2:

So this is not a forever permanent thing. This is just you need a breather. Yeah, Bronnie. Something got to give, man.

00:03:51 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 5:

I feel like I'm controlled by it.

00:03:54 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 4:

Are there any other listeners that have ever done this before and can give Kevin some advice? Have you guys ever been addicted to something so much that you had to delete it or get rid of it?

00:04:03 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 2:

I did that with Poshmark, which is also an app. It sounds so stupid, but Poshmark is an app where you can buy or sell like clothes and shoes and stuff. And I, it was so weird where I got into this like pattern of, I was on it all the time going down the rabbit hole of finding and buying stuff that I didn't even need. And finally I had, I deleted my, I deleted it for like a year and now I am back on in full force. Cupcake, Shannon, if you want to buy anything. But it was like bothering me how much I would go and check freaking Poshmark for what reason.

00:04:37 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 5:

I see your screen time.

00:04:38 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 4:

How are you going to do your daily posts that we always have to do for our show? Like we had that, you know, Bianca.

00:04:45 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, I guess. Yeah, I didn't even think about that. My day was Tuesday, so I did my day already.

00:04:50 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 4:

You did it already, so you got it.

00:04:51 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

I didn't even think about that. But then I thought about, like, my morning prayer, and a piece of me is like, okay, maybe you can just delete it every day after you do your requirement.

00:04:59 - 00:05:02 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. But then at that point, I don't know, that's just doing too much.

00:05:03 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 1:

A pastor friend of mine, shout out to Clint Dupin, he once told me that if you have an issue with a particular app on your phone, that you can, you don't even have to delete the app, but put something important in its place. So, for example, if I were having an issue with Instagram or you're having an issue with Instagram, you know exactly where that is on your phone. Like, you go right to that spot and hit it on your phone. Put your Bible app, like you said, for example, in that place. So when you think you're going to Instagram, it refocuses your brain. Do you know what I mean? And you're getting something good instead of getting your daily dose of dopamine from Instagram.

00:05:40 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 3:

You're about to get 20 likes on Insta, f***ing.

00:05:44 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 5:

Kim, what's up? Kim, it's Mojo in the morning. Did you hear this? Kev deleted his Instagram.

00:05:49 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 2:

You know what? That's great. I actually deleted Facebook last September.

00:05:53 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 5:

What was the reason?

00:05:56 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 2:

I was just tired of it. I just kept going to it. I was like, I'd be bored, so I'd click on it, but mindlessly.

00:06:05 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. What do you do when you're on the toilet, though, going poop? Like, what are you watching or what are you looking at?

00:06:11 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 2:

You know, I play backgammon on my phone. Really?

00:06:18 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 5:

A little game of backgammon. Well, the back of you is, you know, that's, I don't know what I would do in the morning. That's my morning ritual is while I'm doing my thing, I'm looking at Instagram and seeing what, you know, happened the night before. And that's how I find out what team won the game that I fell asleep watching, you know.

00:06:39 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 2:

I didn't even think about that. You can read the news.

00:06:43 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, I guess you could. You could go to news apps like, you know, Shannon was saying, put something else in its place. But good for you, Cam. Take care of yourself. We appreciate it. Fred, what's up, Fred? How you doing?

00:06:53 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 3:

I'm doing good. How are everybody doing this morning? Good morning.

00:06:57 - 00:06:58 | Speaker 5:

Well, Fred, what's going on?

00:06:59 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 3:

Nothing much. So basically, two years ago, I deleted my whole Facebook and Instagram account. All of it. Yeah. So it was like nothing is left there. I had to redo everything. It was like I got a bad breakup.

00:07:16 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 5:

Oh, see, that's what happens.

00:07:17 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 4:

Did you have a bunch of pictures of your ex on there? Is that why you did it? Or you didn't want to see her stuff?

00:07:23 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 3:

No, it was because I didn't want the world to know what I was going through. Oh, that's a good one. So it was like, basically, I'm like comfortable saying it. I like my ex cheated on me, had a whole baby on me.

00:07:38 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 1:

So it was like. That is so hard.

00:07:41 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, so I deleted everything. And it's been like two years now since I've even been on social media.

00:07:46 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 1:

Good for you. Good for you for having the willpower to do that.

00:07:49 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 5:

Has it helped? Are you doing good right now?

00:07:53 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 3:

I'm getting my life back together. So, I mean, I think I had shared my story, like, through y'all email before with some of my hard times. But now I started to look back up for them.

00:08:05 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 5:

So bless them. Good, buddy. Listen, we love that you're doing this, but we need you as a follower because we lost followers. So we'd like you to go back and follow us. At least just look at our page, you know, okay?

00:08:20 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 3:

All right, I got you. I'll get back.

00:08:23 - 00:08:23 | Speaker 5:

Thanks, Fred.

00:08:23 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 4:

Your future is bright, Fred. We love you, Fred. That situation doesn't define you, my man.

00:08:28 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I'm looking to become a Detroit firefighter, so. Good for you, man.

00:08:32 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 5:

Good for you, man. Hey, thank you so much, buddy. Appreciate you. Darren, what's up?

00:08:37 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, so I don't use social media. I have it, but I rarely ever even use it. And honestly, I feel great. you have it's going to get such a good feeling out of not using it i swear

00:08:50 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 1:

you want to know what's so interesting about you is i commend you because i think that that's very hard when everybody is talking about everything that they're seeing or doing on social media and in this in the same breath i say that when somebody tells me they don't have social media i go right what's wrong with you you're what are you hiding but i mean it's awesome that you don't

00:09:13 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 4:

I get everything I need. I get everything I need out of the dirty on the 30s.

00:09:17 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 1:

You are such a suck up and I love you.

00:09:18 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 5:

I like the people that say that they're getting off and they're not going to do it and they're doing it. And then post more when they said that they were getting off and they weren't going to do it. And they're, you know, and I look at those people and I go, why did you just say that you're like, just admit that you're whatever you're, you know, maybe just not able to do it. Maybe you can't stay away from it. Why do you think they don't admit it? I don't know. The friends that will say, I'm not going to be on my social media, and then they're either liking all your photos or commenting all your photos or posting more. What's up, Aaron? How you doing?

00:09:55 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 1:

Hey, good morning, everybody.

00:09:56 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 5:

Good morning. What's going on? is for me i got rid of it i was getting too sucked into it seeing too many pictures of my ex-wife and her boyfriend so i was like nope can't do this no more all these people with their relationship

00:10:11 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 3:

relationships a lot of guys too can i can i tell you something though if you are if that's the reason and you still want to stay on a platform because you want to connect with your you know your friends and your family and co-workers or something but and you don't want to unfriend in this case your ex-wife for example you can mute that account so it doesn't show that you're not following like you're still following them but none of their stuff ever comes up

00:10:35 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 6:

yeah so there you go aaron so we need you as a follower to get back on your facebook you're missing out on watching the show live i'm just kidding aaron he still follows us on instagram yeah but you can listen to the show weekday mornings on Facebook and YouTube, so you can also check out YouTube for Mojo in the Morning and watch it, okay?
