All right, it's Mojo in the morning. Something very big is happening to Kevin today. Today is a big day for him. Kevin, what are you going to be doing?

00:01:53 - 00:02:05 | Speaker 5:

Man, after the show today, I'm going to go get my little money order, cashier's check, and I'm picking up the keys to my new place. I want to be moved out. My targeted day is before Christmas.

00:02:06 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 1:

And you're moving like five minutes away from this studio.

00:02:09 - 00:02:11 | Speaker 5:

Which is a blessing. I'm excited for that.

00:02:11 - 00:02:32 | Speaker 6:

So you're moving to Detroit? Back to Detroit. So getting back to Detroit, where you were born and raised from living out in the suburbs. And I asked you a couple of questions. Number one, can we crash at your pad sometimes? Is it weird for me to say pad?

00:02:32 - 00:02:35 | Speaker 5:

Depends on the circumstance, but for sure. The door is always open.

00:02:36 - 00:02:43 | Speaker 6:

And second question, is it tough for you to do this move? I know this is a move that comes with a breakup, too.

00:02:43 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. No, I'm excited, to be honest with you, to move. But I am aware that that excitement will come and go at some points. I'm sure maybe those first couple of nights when the home is a bit quieter, quieter than what it once was, and those same voices that I've come accustomed to listening to and loving won't be there anymore, reverberating off the walls. It'll just be myself. But I'm aware that that's going to take place. So when those emotions hit, hopefully it'll be a softer landing. Has Sherelle moved out yet? No, I think she's picking up the keys. I think she'd get her keys today or something.

00:03:20 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 1:

Oh, so she's not staying in the same place where you guys were. Yeah, no. Okay.

00:03:23 - 00:03:36 | Speaker 5:

I mean, that was always our intention was to live in this place until our lease is up, which is next month. Okay. And then originally, you know, the idea was to, you know, move out together, get a house, but, you know, circumstances in life, you know. It's true.

00:03:36 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 6:

Do you guys talk, like, have you told her about the place or shown her the place or anything?

00:03:41 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, for sure. She knows. She knows a little bit about it.

00:03:43 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. Yeah. She said it's nice.

00:03:46 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 5:

It is nice.

00:03:48 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 6:

Did she say it like it's nice? She's like, oh, that's nice.

00:03:52 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 5:

She can pull up any time she wants to, man. Come through. You ain't got any roaches in here or nothing. Yeah, it's nice. Bro, I'm so excited to decorate. Has Josiah seen it yet? No, he hasn't seen it yet. I'm going to pick him up from school today and take it.

00:04:05 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 6:

Okay. But he knows that there's a new place coming.

00:04:08 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 5:

Oh, yeah, for sure. He went with me to see another place, and he fell in love with that place and was like, if you don't move here, then I hate you, basically. No, he did not. He was like, I promise. He was like, we got to come here. Because that one had like a pool, didn't it? It was the Millender Center that's attached to the Courtyard Marriott. So you have access to their pool and to their workout facilities. And he was so, he was like, look at this pool. I hate you. Why did you not rent it? He was going crazy.

00:04:34 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 1:

I hate you for not renting that place.

00:04:36 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 5:

I like this place better. Yeah. I mean, I wanted personalized entry. And basically, I don't want to have to get on the elevator and go up. I don't want to do it. I just want to go in.

00:04:44 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 6:

Elevators scare me, especially if fire alarms go off and stuff like that. I don't know.

00:04:48 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 1:

You get on a lower floor.

00:04:50 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 6:

I get it, yeah.

00:04:50 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 5:

And they say there's something to the stairwell, because that was my question, like, working that quick, and, like, if a fire breaks out, like, what's going to happen? And something in the stairwell, based on the concrete or whatever, keeps you going.

00:05:00 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 1:

the fire okay i'm like that all right so that's the dumb version so you're moving to your new place you got a new place how soon will you be asking uh or anybody to help you move because

00:05:09 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 2:

i don't know if you notice i'm leaving town yeah i've got some vacations time here listen treat people how you want to be treated i don't want to be asked and i'm not going to do any asking and i'm not doing it myself because the last time i did that i'm thinking i'm gonna save some money and do all of that hell no you're gonna hire you're saving money the time that you spend the you're back afterwards like nah bro you save money but you lose friends yes that's a fact

00:05:34 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 1:

so i'm gonna hire some folks to come and uh help me out are you planning on doing the move over the course because i'm assuming you have your place till what the end of the month yeah so i

00:05:44 - 00:05:54 | Speaker 2:

mean like mid-january oh you do i want to be i want to be out by christmas oh so you actually want to go fast i mean not fast but like i want to be out by christmas certainly in your new place

00:05:54 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 4:

that's like a big thing

00:05:55 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 1:

how does that work though is the bed yours so you take the bed

00:06:01 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 2:

I've had that conversation with her I'm not going to leave her and journey without a bed so when

00:06:09 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 4:

my ex-husband and I got divorced it felt to me like we were I was playing Barbies with my sister when we started dividing everything up it was like your turn you pick your turn you pick I pick the couch and then he'd be like I want that chair

00:06:23 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

yeah like is that what you how you guys did it i walked in this is like two days ago actually i walked in the bedroom she was laying on the bed she being sure i was like all right so look this this all i want and then i rattled everything off and she was like okay yeah so it wasn't any contention did she ask for anything that you wanted um when we first started talking about it last year my cousin christina um you know why i pause christina my cousin christina who's become very close with sherelle that's why i pause and you know i mean yeah but um wait what does that We'll get into it. They bought, they being Gerard and Christina bought this cold-ass air fryer that we never used. So I'm like, I'm taking the air fryer. Sure, like, no, you're not. I'm like, they're my cousins. Like, I'm buying, you know what I'm saying? But I don't care. Give her the air fryer. I want a different one anyway.

00:07:10 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 4:

The Drew Barrymore air fryer at Walmart is $39 on sale right now. Go get it. For real? Best thing ever. I want the new one. No, I have the Drew Barrymore one.

00:07:17 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 2:

They got a new one with the deep fryer.

00:07:19 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. That's the one I want. If you really want a game changer, get one that has two different baskets with two different controls. That'll change your life.

00:07:26 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 1:

I tried. Can I ask you with this new place, are you going to, because I know you're a dad, right? Okay. Are you going to decorate it like a dad or are you going to decorate it like a dude? Are you going to decorate it like a single guy because you are going to be single? And I know you say that you're going to take your time. You're not going to go out there and stuff. But are you going to have the beaded doorway?

00:07:48 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 2:

I've never been on that, bro. The thing that I'm most excited about is when you first walk in, there's like this little area before the kitchen. And that is going to be like my meditation space. So I'm excited to have this peaceful environment that will have virtually no technology unless I put like an old record player in there. Or when I need to go and I need to think and I need to get in my prayer bag, like that will be my spot. I'm very excited about that.

00:08:12 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 4:

Dude, I just want a bathroom that kids don't come in. You're getting a meditation space.

00:08:18 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 2:

That's the thing I'm most excited about. And we've mentioned on the show, like as a as a guy, you when you live with your spouse, your significant other, if you live with a woman, nine times out of 10, you have no visual representation of your personality in that place. Yeah, everything is hurt. So I'm very excited to have the opportunity to fill this home up with things that represent and make me feel like me.

00:08:41 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, but that's interesting. I always thought that if I was ever, you know, because I really never had a, I had my apartment before I met Chelsea. And then once I met Chelsea, we got married and whatever. It was like my first big apartment. And I had no decorations because I had no money. And I often thought like if I had money and could decorate, what would I do? Bro, I got boxes in the garage. Do you? That stuff. How many LeBron pictures are going to be on the wall? And how many?

00:09:06 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 2:

I do have, I think I got like three or four LeBron jerseys. I might do something with those.

00:09:11 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 1:

I was just kidding.

00:09:12 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 3:

That is the biggest turn on, though, when a guy has a nicely decorated apartment. I'm like, oh, I'm married now.

00:09:16 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 1:

What do you think when a guy has, like, all sports crap all over the place? Like, memorabilia?

00:09:21 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 3:

It's okay. I love it. If you're going to do it, do it well. Like, get him frames. Exactly. Like, do it really well. And it's not going to look like a shrine.

00:09:30 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 2:

Like, let's be clear.

00:09:31 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 3:

Like, this, I'll show you pictures of a dude's apartment, and you can tell me how hot you think he is just based on these photos of his apartment.

00:09:38 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 2:

You're showing this to Shannon, right?

00:09:39 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 3:

I'll show it to all of you. So this was like one of them. Wait, who is this person?

00:09:43 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 2:

That's decorated. Oh, my God. It looks like a magazine.

00:09:46 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Wait, who is that dude? And then, I'll tell you later, but. Holy Jesus. This is a time to come to my house.

00:09:52 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 1:

This guy's place looks like a restoration hardware or something.

00:09:54 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 3:

Send me that picture. I want to cut it. The first picture was funny. I literally said, do you want to have children?

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

Wow.

00:09:59 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

You know what I mean? Like, I'll.

00:10:00 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 2:

Where is that? I'll tell you off the air.

00:10:02 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 5:

Was it a furnished apartment and he just moved into it?

00:10:06 - 00:10:07 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I know who it is. Okay.

00:10:08 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 5:

He's a gay man, isn't he?

00:10:10 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 2:

No.

00:10:10 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 5:

No? That's a straight man? Oh, my God. Kev, I want to know this because this is a big step for you. This is a big one. You're moving out. You're moving to a new place. You know what I mean? This is a big one. Will you have and take with you any pictures from you and Sherelle or anything like that?

00:10:29 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 4:

I mean, we don't have a lot of physical pictures, though. Like, we have one physical picture that's in our bathroom. But I'm not taking that. I don't care.

00:10:38 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 5:

Wait, what do you mean? But why would he put up pictures of him and Sherrod? But I'm asking, because his relationship, they're still friends, right? You guys are still close? Yeah, but I'm-

00:10:45 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 4:

I understand that, but he's not going to put up photos of her.

00:10:48 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 5:

No, but I'm saying, like, who's taking stuff like that?

00:10:50 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 4:

Oh. We literally have one physical picture of us. And you're not taking it. It's in our bathroom.

00:10:54 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 5:

And if she doesn't take it, the landlord's going to get it. I guess. Do you think she'll take it? I have no idea.

00:10:59 - 00:11:05 | Speaker 4:

I mean, I got 1,000 pictures of her on my phone, and she does have this thing called Instagram. So if I do need to go look at her, then I'll do that.

00:11:05 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 5:

You did say this. I respect you for this. You said you're not deleting any pictures from the past. And for those that don't. Not on that. Yeah, you can listen back to the podcast. I'm with you on that.

00:11:14 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 2:

I take it just from the frame.

00:11:17 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 5:

Suzanne, what's up, Suzanne?

00:11:19 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 2:

Oh, Mojo, you know my name is Susan.

00:11:22 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 5:

Oh, Susan. I don't know it. I just said Suzanne. There's a few Susans that call this show, and I'm sorry. but will you list, put her in there, hold on, put her down there as young Susan, put Zan, Z-A-N, Susan, what's up?

00:11:38 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh, well I just wanted to call in and tell Kev that coming from a divorce with kids, I think that you are handling this so well, I think you and your family are going to have nothing but blessings coming, I think that your son is going to praise the both of you for the way that you have handled this breakup and the way that you handle your co-parenting um i just think it's refreshing to hear it from a male's perspective um because from a woman's perspective going through a divorce there's just a lot of negative things about men coming out of divorce or out of a relationship and you are just doing so well and you guys are going to be blessed

00:12:17 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 5:

so much i appreciate that thank you do you think cap should hang lebron on the wall i think that's

00:12:23 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 1:

a bad idea but uh dwight what's up dwight around your lips what's up good morning mojo family what's up morning uh first i want to say first time long time

00:12:35 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 5:

yeah very nice yes we'll do another one in uh next year

00:12:46 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 1:

and me and my wife will be there excellent but to tell to your respect you mentioned having a little space in your new apartment by the way congratulations on that you mentioned having a little space in your new apartment where there wouldn't be any technology where you could go to pray and think and things like that some some at least uh quite a few people that i know call that a war room oh that's cool so that's so uh there's a there's a small like black movie yeah i don't know what you're talking about yeah but they call it a war room it's it's kind of where you go you can feel pressures of the day pressures of life and you can kind of go and kind of de-stress and plan your next move and uh pray to your lord and all of that things and kind to be able to, uh, kind of be able to, um, regain your strength.

00:13:44 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 5:

That's, that's cool.

00:13:45 - 00:13:51 | Speaker 1:

So, um, I'm, again, I'm happy to tell you, bro. Appreciate you. Much love to you. Appreciate you.

00:13:52 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 5:

Dwight, can you have the picture of LeBron up in the war room? How do we decorate?

00:13:56 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 4:

You might love LeBron more than I do.

00:13:58 - 00:14:09 | Speaker 5:

He got his name in your mouth. Um, are you going to give an extra key to somebody? Like, cause you know, you always got to give a key to somebody just in case you get locked out. Like, well, if you want, I'll take it. Hell nah. How about mom?

00:14:10 - 00:14:11 | Speaker 4:

Probably my mom would probably get it.

00:14:11 - 00:14:46 | Speaker 5:

You know the first thing I would do if you gave me an extra key, don't you? You would be in there. I'd give it to your dad. He and I would be in there together. Listen to that evil laugh. Your dad and I. By the way, I think your dad and I are going to hang out before Christmas. Hey, have fun. You make the Yoki's on Instagram Live. Oh, God. What a time. We're very proud of you, Kevin. Appreciate it. That's exciting. Love to Sherelle. We love Sherelle. Yeah, love Sherelle. And just know this, that I know this ain't easy. I know that you do give yourself, like, you're built up and stuff. But I know this is tough for you. I can tell that this is tough.

00:14:46 - 00:15:14 | Speaker 4:

Bro, it's been tough. Again, we broke up in June. This is, like, new to everybody else, but I've had my tougher moments. And like I said, every day won't be sunshine. But I can confidently say that I'm going to be tough. I'm at a point where I can consistently have higher highs than lower lows. That's great. I can choose my smiles versus my cries. I love it. Well, I'm choosing my smile right now because I'm happy for you. I got a place that I can stay down here.

00:15:14 - 00:15:16 | Speaker 3:

Then I can nap.

00:15:16 - 00:15:19 | Speaker 4:

Jingle ball. I don't have to go all the way back out to the suburbs afterwards.

00:15:19 - 00:15:47 | Speaker 3:
