It means I can inject in my space on my time. It's my treatment, my way. Visit VivGartMyWay.com. That's V-Y-V-G-A-R-T MyWay.com. And talk to your doctor about VivGart Hytrulo. Modo Casino. America's social casino.

00:01:46 - 00:02:12 | Speaker 5:

Good morning. Kev's got a dad dilemma here. He's got a little issue going on. where he's trying to figure out something for Josiah, Kev's son, who is probably smarter than everybody on this show except for maybe Shannon. Although I honestly would love to do an IQ test between Josiah and Shannon. And let's see. Are you smarter than Josiah will play?

00:02:12 - 00:02:23 | Speaker 3:

He would win because I was book smart. I would memorize everything, do a great job on a test, and then, I mean, forget it, like two weeks later. And I have zero common sense.

00:02:23 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 5:

Every time I see him, Josiah, I think he's a little person. Like, I think that he's actually not really a, what is he, 11 or something? 12 years old, man. I think he's not 12 years old. I think he's 55 years old. And he's got Benjamin Button disease or something like that, where he, like, reverts back looks-wise.

00:02:42 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 4:

I got blessed, bro. Like, for real. I won the lottery, man. God truly looked out. But Josiah is 12 years old. We are ending his sixth grade year. heading into seventh grade, and Josiah will not be attending, I guess reattending. He won't be going back to the school that he's in now because we just feel like it's not challenging him enough academically, and there are some behavioral issues with other students, not as it relates to Josiah prayerfully, and luckily he's not getting bullied or anything like that, but just things that he's witnessing that he comes home and says, man, this is what happened today. It's just not the right environment that I want Josiah in for him to grow. Do they know that he's not coming back this year? I don't know.

00:03:23 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 5:

You just announced it.

00:03:24 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I mean, that's cool. It's what it is.

00:03:26 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:03:26 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 4:

But we went to visit a school yesterday, his mother and I, and this was her second time going to the school, my first time going. And once we got done with our tour, she was like, hell no. This is night and day from when I went the first time, which is why she wanted me to come check it out and go see it. And I was a little on the fence, but I wasn't blown away.

00:03:43 - 00:03:45 | Speaker 5:

What's hell no? What happened?

00:03:45 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 4:

She just didn't like it. Let me just say that. No, the vibe was off. It just wasn't what she saw. The first time, she felt like they dressed it up for her. And then the second time, she really got to see the reality.

00:03:56 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 5:

I've only toured to school once. It was when we pulled our kids and put them in Catholic school from public school. And I was so into looking at things from the perspective of when I was a kid going, oh, my God, look what they got here now. I was doing stuff like that. Chelsea's worried about the academic parts and the teachers and stuff.

00:04:15 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 3:

You're like, look at the lunch buffet and how big the lockers are.

00:04:19 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 4:

But then another thing that I consider is that this would be Josiah's third school in like three or four years.

00:04:26 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 5:

Oh, wow.

00:04:26 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 4:

And one of the things that Josiah, who just started swimming lessons last Saturday, one of the things that he mentioned in passing, but I caught on to it, was the fact that he said he's not going to try to make friends here because he's not going to see him in a week or two, just like every other friend he's met.

00:04:42 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 5:

Oh, wow.

00:04:43 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

And I was like, damn, like, I'm setting up. Like, you hear sometimes about these Army brat kids that travel a bunch and they never get to settle in the atmosphere and then they grow up and they have a hard time building relationships with people or they have a hard time with people getting to know them deeply because they just keep it surplus.

00:05:00 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 3:

this because they always feel like well you're gonna be gone in a year or two so what's the point of showing me who i really am i'm like battling two things like damn like how do i get him to really connect with people and to have a long lasting experience but then also identify

00:05:14 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 2:

the right school for him yeah that surprises me about him by the way because of his personality i think he's just such an outgoing enthusiastic like kid that i i'm surprised that he doesn't

00:05:27 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 3:

just naturally connect with everybody around him does but josiah is also very animated and i think at times other children may make him feel self-conscious and insecure about the things that he's into that may be quote-unquote larger society aren't into so sometimes he hides that true portion of himself now he's very outgoing kids truly love him yeah but i think the bigger problem is those kids love him for a year because then he's pulled out of a school or he's pulled

00:05:53 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 4:

out of a program he's being he's being protective of himself you can't take him out of the school that he's in why because we've gotten more good topics off of kids saying things to josiah

00:06:03 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 2:

and the ladies in the front office can i say the q word no you cannot say that word nope

00:06:09 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 3:

he asked me about a lady fart the other day and i was like that word i was like wait what

00:06:15 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 4:

you know what that is you know what's a what's interesting is i realized i realized how lucky i was as a kid when i realized that there's so many people that are around my circle friends friends kids and stuff who didn't have the life that i had like i lived in the neighborhood went to school up the street from my house had like friends that used to be all around there and i look kids just don't do that anymore like my kids when they went to the catholic school it was like 40 minutes away from our house and most of the kids that they were friends with lived an almost 45 minutes to an hour away from where we were like i had guys we'd get off the bus and the moment we got off the bus it was like you know we're all kind of hung together and i feel like that just doesn't happen anymore you know yeah there's something about and i don't know there is something about going to you obviously want your kids to get great academics but there is something about your kids having like good bonds with friendships and things like that yeah and so I do think that sometimes you got to look and weigh everything, but I definitely wouldn't want my kid in a school that I felt like was holding them back academically.

00:07:26 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 3:

And like Josiah is a 4.0 student. He does phenomenal, but he'll even say like, it's too easy here. I'm not being challenged. Like these are his words. Well, hopefully whatever school you put him in next,

00:07:36 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 2:

he'll stay at for a while because I feel like sixth grade, seventh grade is where you're like really starting to solidify the friendships that you're making. And those are your friends that kind of stick through high school and even maybe beyond that. What's up, Jake? Hi.

00:07:52 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 1:

Hey, I was wondering, Kevin, is it three schools in three years? Is that all because all three schools have been bad?

00:08:00 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 3:

No, no. And it's been obvious. It's a Josiah thing because it ain't. But the first school, something had happened and he needed to be removed because I didn't like the way that the school had attempted to rectify the situation. and they had a process to where that particular school wasn't able to handle the situation internally it needed to be brought up to the district or something which in the meantime nothing changed as they waited for this decision to be made and then this school currently again the academics aren't up to par the after school program is good but it's not as good as i thought it would be or as it was sold that it would be and then the behavioral issues of the students around him that's not the environment that i want them in yeah it's interesting because i thought it

00:08:43 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 4:

I thought it was totally different. I thought maybe it was because you had kind of moved because I know you moved from the suburbs back to the city and stuff like that. But he always stayed in school. Jake, what are your thoughts on this one? Did you go to the same school your entire school life or did you switch around to schools?

00:09:00 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 1:

I did, but I'm a teacher. And it's just so hard on the kids to move so much with school. So I was wondering if it's the school, if it's Kevin moving a lot or just the different parents.

00:09:12 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 4:

I never got to be the new cute boy in class because the girls all look at the new kids as like, oh, fresh meat. And I always feel like there's, I never had that. And I used to hate when a kid transferred in from out of town or transferred into another, from another school. Girls paid more attention to them than me. Yes.

00:09:32 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 1:

Josiah Sutton.

00:09:33 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 4:

That was right. I never knew about a lady farts when I was in school. No girls ever explained those to me.

00:09:41 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 3:

Josiah was shocked, man. The advanced kids that told them other things didn't know what it was either. So he's like, this has got to be crazy.

00:09:47 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 4:

What's up, Amanda? Hi.

00:09:50 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 1:

Hi, Kev. I'm actually one of those people that had gone to about nine different schools, and we were always moving. So I was always a new kid. So after. so long, I just quit trying to make connections, because I always thought I was going to be moving again. But I did go up in the church, so I had church friends. Yeah, I mean, I didn't make connections or go to prom or school dances, because I didn't really give anyone a chance. But I guess in adulthood, it kind of helps, because you're not pressured to remain friends with people, because you've known them for so long, so you can make better choices of making friends.

00:10:25 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 4:

I think what Shannon said is probably the most important. I think once he gets in the middle school, and then high school you gotta like be settled on something because i think the problem is you start transferring them at that time yeah it's it's gonna be tough i think that's when it's gonna get like i think early on transferring them around it may not be as hard on them but um i think like you you want to go to this like i love that my boys went to the same high school all four years and then have that history you know high school for sure yeah what's up uh myra hi um good morning everyone

00:10:58 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 2:

Good morning. My son, I moved him out of his school in the middle of, like, the seventh grade because the teachers were, the students were fighting the teachers. And I went, put him in there thinking it was going to be good. It was the tour. Oh, this school looks nice. The booze smells good. The booze wasn't what it was when we did the tour. With Josiah, if you're going to move him out of the school and he's saying he don't want to make friends, And tell him that no matter where he is, at least he'll have friends everywhere. That was how my brother, because we moved a lot when I was in school. And I always said that we moved so much, we were like in a witness protection program.

00:11:40 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 4:

Maybe you were and you didn't know about it.

00:11:44 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 2:

Didn't know about it. Right. So I made the choice not to make friends, but my brother was like, well, I'm going to have friends everywhere and all over the world. And everywhere I go, people will know who I am.

00:11:56 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 5:

That's a good perspective.

00:11:58 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, so tell Josiah, make friends. You'll have friends everywhere.

00:12:02 - 00:12:13 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, no, that's good. That's a good call. What's up, Isaac? Hi. What's going on? Nothing much, man. What's going on? We're talking about Josiah, the king of the castle. We love that kid.

00:12:15 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 3:

So I'm having a similar situation with my son right now. So he's extremely smart, always A's and B's. and then you know he's been going to the same school since kindergarten so it's like now he's in sixth grade and everything like that and he's honors programs everything like that it's like it's still not enough yeah and now his grades are going down because now he's just focused on other things he's not focused on the school anymore because it's not enough because it's not challenging

00:12:51 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 4:

yeah that's tough that boy that's the opposite of me everything was so hard i was like you know so it was struggling but that's uh no that's interesting you can't let a kid be bored right

00:13:03 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 3:

yeah so i'm looking at schools to change them to after this school year and it's like the school has got progressively worse as well it was like parents fighting and the pickup lines now police getting caught and then there's so much going on in his classroom now and it's like nobody can go into his classroom because so many things has happened where is where is he going to school

00:13:32 - 00:13:47 | Speaker 4:

where the parents are fighting in the pickup lines uh detroit enterprise academy that's um well you didn't have to name the whole school but what's going on that's not the school's fault that's that's all the parents the parents go what do they fight about they fight about like

00:13:47 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 3:

position in line or something or what's the story i don't even know i just know the police get caught

00:13:52 - 00:14:09 | Speaker 4:

too much that's crazy the car pickup lines are wild it is wild isn't it um i used to fall asleep in the car pickup line and just get people honking at me because they'd be like hey move get move up pull up praying for you bro all right we got to figure out a school for josiah dog i'm low-key

00:14:09 - 00:14:17 | Speaker 5:

i don't got enough money probably for that but i want him to go to the school that got they got to wear suit jackets and ties. Like, I want him to be on his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air vibe.

00:14:18 - 00:14:21 | Speaker 4:

Yes. Well, can we get him a scholarship? We'll get him an honorary scholarship.

00:14:21 - 00:14:22 | Speaker 5:

I don't even know what school that is.

00:14:23 - 00:14:23 | Speaker 4:

I don't know.

00:14:23 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 5:

Are there schools around here where you have to wear suit jackets?

00:14:26 - 00:14:31 | Speaker 4:

There has to be. Right. Well, you got to look at, like, a Cranbrook Country Day.

00:14:33 - 00:14:53 | Speaker 5:

I don't even think those you're wearing suit jackets. But then, regardless of the physical part, like, I want Josiah to find a home. Yeah. I mean, a place where he feels comfortable. he can thrive do not come on that kid he's smart i don't want to mess up and i feel like he thrives in community like he likes being around other people yeah that's true i wish my parents gonna

00:14:53 - 00:15:13 | Speaker 4:

homeschool him kev yeah i don't want to do that kevin no one of the one of the 8 000 girls kevin dates maybe he'll start dating teachers Hey, guys, it is Ryan.
