think all right it is mojo in the morning cav this is pretty cool i uh i saw that yesterday was kids day at the detroit pistons game and cav for those that don't know this he's the in arena announcer for the Pistons, the host for the Pistons, and actually, by the way, got a chance to go to the game on Friday to watch it. Saw you and Mason, and Mason was so great. Mason gave you a great compliment. What did he say? He said that Kev is the consummate professional, loves that you are doing radio, but also said that you are like the heir, the heir apparent.

00:03:07 - 00:03:07 | Unknown:

Wow.

00:03:08 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 6:

The Mason heir apparent and Mojo heir apparent.

00:03:10 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 5:

That would be incredible, man. Mason deserves a jersey and a rafters. When he decides to turn off that microphone, he's incredible. But yesterday, man, I could start tearing up, man. And you know this because, you know, your son Joe and Joe's in Tampa doing great things on radio at the Joe Show. And you had him at the, I'm going to call it the G-Fest because I don't remember the name of it. Was it the Pyrifest?

00:03:35 - 00:03:38 | Speaker 6:

It was, what the hell, why am I brain farting now? Gasparilla.

00:03:38 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 5:

Gasparilla, yeah. And seeing how people reacted to him. And yesterday was Kids Day. And shout out to Nathan, who is our game presentation director, reached out to Nathan and said, you know, while we're thinking of how we're going to incorporate children in our game, what about my son introducing the players? Oh, my God. And he was like, yeah, for sure. I sent him some footage because Joe's done it for the Motor City Cruise, which is our G League affiliate. And he said, let's do it. And Joe had the opportunity to, along with Mason, who was so gracious, Mason allowed Joe to use his microphone, to use his chair. So Mason stood up and, like, used a wire microphone and started introducing the players. And then Josiah took over. And it was a really magical moment. And to see Josiah get done, first off, to see the process of Josiah almost kind of not believing that he was capable to do it. Was he nervous? He was nervous. But when he got done, he was like, I believed in myself and I just didn't think about being stressful. I didn't think about what if I mess up or what if I don't. I would have had tears. It was a great moment, man.

00:04:44 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 6:

What a cool dad moment. Let me play it for everybody so they can hear it. This is Josiah at the game. I'm Josiah Thompson.

00:04:53 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 5:

This one, all the days, takes part in Tennessee, six times.

00:05:00 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 7:

Look at his face. This is the success. Oh, my God, I'm talking about my heart was so full.

00:06:05 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 6:

It's so amazing to have the opportunity. Jay-Z has a lyric in a song called New Day. This is before he had kids. He said it took me 26 years to find my path. that's when jay-z dropped his first album so it took me that long took me 26 years to find my path my only job is to cut the time in half so to have the opportunity to like have my son be a part of something that i love to have the opportunity to do these things and to give him the chance to be a part of it too as early as he is to live his dreams it's like god is so good bro buddy that

00:06:36 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 5:

is so neat and we you know shannon and myself have experienced this you're experiencing this right now we could have the greatest thing ever happen to us but when it happens to your kid for some reason it is next level it is complete next level like to be able to see that and you doing what you do you god has been good to you but to see that josiah in your footsteps so that's awesome is it is it pretty wild to to know i mean i i see him when he hangs out with you in studio and you're doing a shift and stuff and he's helping you with your shift he is such an entertainer You know, that's such an amazing moment. It was, it was really special, man. That's so cool. Hey, Kim, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:07:20 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 1:

Good morning, guys. Good morning.

00:07:22 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 5:

What's happening, Kim? Were you there at the game yesterday?

00:07:25 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

I was not, but my husband watches every single Pistons game that ever airs. He watches on whatever network thingy that is. Yeah. And it started with the young lady who was singing the national anthem. And then there was this kid who started announcing the players. And I'm like, who are these lucky children who get to do this? And then when he said it was Josiah, I was like, it's Josiah. I'm screaming, Kev, you have the sweetest, most adorable child ever.

00:07:57 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 6:

Thank you so much. I'm going to replay this for him when I get home so he can hear it. Thank you.

00:08:01 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 5:

Kim, it's so cool to know Josiah in the short time that I've gotten a chance to know him. Because when he talks to you, you feel like you're talking to a man, you know, like an adult human. I have conversations with him going, oh, my God, I forget that he is. How old? Eleven. Eleven. I mean, you're talking to him, honestly, smarter than I am, for goodness sake.

00:08:22 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 1:

You sit with him and you're like, he should be a pastor. I know. Or a life coach or something. Like, he just has it in him.

00:08:30 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 5:

Hey, Noe, what's up?

00:08:31 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 2:

hey so i wanted to tell kev about my proud dad moment let's hear it man uh decided this hey uh so my son decided uh during this one winter that he wanted to go snowboarding me and him never got snowboarding so but i bought him a beginner snowboard and i was like let's go and uh these instructors are showing us how to snowboard i get on it to show him like hey we can do this fall down on my butt a couple times but i show him i'm gonna try to do this he gets on the snowboard and kev just gave the kid for the first time ever on the snowboard was all the way down this wow he did better than kp my mind is blown but my my that's my dad you know my like proud dad moment i was like wow isn't that incredible yeah there is something to it man

00:09:18 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 5:

although i will tell you this when your kid beats you at basketball for the very first time it pisses you off after a while like i'm like going i've let him beat me a couple of times when i was younger and stuff like that. I'm like, now he beats me. I'm like, you know what? This sucks. T, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning. What's going on, T?

00:09:35 - 00:09:52 | Speaker 3:

Hey, long-time listener, first-time caller. Hey, T's on the phone. Yeah, I was at last night's game. I heard Josiah, and I thought, what an awesome guy. I mean, he did such a great job.

00:09:52 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 6:

Thank you, man. I appreciate that, T. Isn't he a great-looking kid, too?

00:09:56 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 3:

I had my grandson.

00:09:58 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

Oh, yeah.

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 2:

He must get it from his mama.

00:10:05 - 00:10:07 | Speaker 5:

Just kidding. Just kidding, Kev.

00:10:07 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 6:

You crazy girl.

00:10:12 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 7:

That's cool. By the way, seeing the humility, though, that this is listening back to it, watching you when it was going on, like Kev is hype and all this stuff, and you can see you kind of pull back a little bit as you're listening to it because it was like you can tell your heart is taking over.

00:10:27 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 6:

I was like, people were around me like, I'm recording off my Meta glasses and then I'm also recording off my phone. I don't know why I needed the two angles, but that's what I did. And people are like shaking me like, oh my God, Kev. And I'm just like a stone figure. Like just, it was only he and I in the room. And I was only listening to him and focusing on him. And just knowing like his thoughts leading up to it, how nervous he was. He was kind of like questioning himself in some capacity. Well, what if I mess up? and to know that it seemed as though he ignored all of that and fully immersed himself in that moment and then walked away from it believing in himself was really dope what did you say to him

00:11:04 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 7:

because i know that we've all had to do this or we've all had a parent that had to do this for us what did you say to him to pull back some of that anxiety but also not to dispel you know or to make him not feel like he should be nervous because honestly i think nervous energy sometimes brings out the best in you yeah somebody said one time like if you're

00:11:22 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 6:

nervous it means you're connected to the moment there's a reason why you're experiencing that i think we i'm a firm believer in projecting positivity and i think that the brain you know when you think of moving your arm that thought takes place before the action takes place so your brain connects to your cells connects to your movement and when you have a negative thought that can transfer and if you lead with the negativity then the outcome will probably be negative so i tried to get someone to understand like when you're thinking about this experience think about what would happen if it goes great not what happens if it doesn't don't think about messing up think about doing your best yes and it's already in you you just have to do the action

00:12:03 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 7:

so just go be great be yourself no that was cool i needed that pep talk for today

00:12:08 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 6:

what yeah the dirties are going to be filthy what a what a cool moment what would you do now here's

00:12:16 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 7:

just an honest question. What would you do if Mason retires and they offer the job to Josiah and not to you? Let's go.

00:12:24 - 00:12:29 | Speaker 6:

Let's go. I call him the upgrade. He's better than me at almost every facet. See, I'd be pissed.

00:12:30 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 7:

If Elvis Duran retires and Joe gets New York, I'll stab him.

00:12:40 - 00:13:07 | Speaker 4:
