I'm Stephanie Young. The hit podcast, Love Trapped, is back with new updates in the case of Laura Owens.

00:01:41 - 00:01:49 | Speaker 5:

This is CR 2025, State vs. Laura Owens. I think she really believes that she still has an out. I'm quite confident that they're up to something.

00:01:50 - 00:01:54 | Speaker 1:

We're following the case live as the criminal charges finally come to a conclusion.

00:01:54 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 5:

Trust us when we tell you as the victims of Laura Owens, she will not stop.

00:01:58 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 1:

Listen to Love Trapped on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:02:05 - 00:02:08 | Speaker 2:

Man, I'm just complaining about the heat.

00:02:10 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 3:

Shut up. This is Mojo in the Morning.

00:02:16 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 6:

Kevin had a moment with his son, Josiah, and grandma. Which, by the way, Kevin's grandma should have her own sitcom. I love her so much. They should do, like, the Golden Girls Part 2 with her. What's going on?

00:02:28 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, Grandma Ruth. Bitch, shout out to Grandma Ruth, who's 93 years old, still kicking, love her so much. We went over there Sunday, and when I say we, myself, Josiah, and we're over there, and Josiah's with me, the rest of the ladies are in the back playing with the baby and doing da-da-da-da-da, and my grandmother and I have the greatest relationship that I could ever ask for from anyone. She is everything to me and so much more. and as i've gotten older our relationship has gone from being super strict to like having this beautiful playful relationship we can just joke and josiah's in front of me i don't know what happens but i stick the middle finger up in my grandmother and josiah

00:03:08 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 1:

everybody's getting it okay you flip off grandma yes it was it was it was

00:03:23 - 00:04:13 | Speaker 7:

in good fun. People who flip other people off are so inappropriate. Megan flicks me off every morning. It's a part of our handshake. If she doesn't do it, you feel like she's mad at you. Is something okay? Are you okay? Why are you being nice? I flick off my grandmother. Josiah's sitting in front of me and he gives me the, like, I can't believe you just did that face. And my grandmother gets up. She comes in there and she starts to play with Josiah and then she flicks Josiah off. He's like, again, and I think at that moment, he's like, okay, this is cool. I can do this. And I kind of wanted to get, you know, information from you all who are parents and, you know, other parents out there. Like, when is it okay to, I guess, take that next step with your child?

00:04:13 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 6:

Next step of flipping them off.

00:04:15 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

I mean, like, allowing your child to curse or, you know, not treating them. You know what I mean? like because not making things taboo yeah and because one of the things that i've always understood is i want to teach my son i don't want the streets or the school to teach him because they may not always give them context to the topic per se and not saying you need context for flipping off but we're just talking about things that are separate from your child being your baby and then your child starting to become you know an adolescent turning into a teenager and the times are moving faster now that we have all the technology in our hands so i don't know if i'm overreacting thinking that oh because yesterday he started to flick me off for no reason but now he's got like the the thumb out with the middle finger he's like i'm like i love you he's like i love you too and like just

00:05:00 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 6:

You did, by the way, kind of give him that okay because he saw your grandma, his great-grandma doing it, and saw you doing it and then laughing afterwards. Yeah.

00:05:09 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 5:

So I don't know if I'm overthinking it or if I'm like, you know, don't do that anymore. Don't stick to me. Because what happens after that? Is he going to just start cussing for no reason? And it's like, am I opening up a door that maybe I shouldn't right now? Shannon, you probably can answer this question.

00:05:24 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God. Every time you call me, my kids are like, can I say a-hole?

00:05:28 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 6:

the funny is though is you cannot laugh afterwards and when you laugh they think that it's okay

00:05:35 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 3:

yeah it's hard not to you heard me on a facetime with lucy the other day and i said something under my breath i think i said spit and she was like mom i i heard you just say spit like they just say it i think for me and my kids are are littler than josiah you know they're six and almost 10 but um i like swearing is a great example middle finger is a great example too they know all that stuff already and so like do we do it inside of our home i mean yeah my thing to them is you know what this is you know this gesture and this word is not nice do not do it outside of the house context yeah yeah like you if you do this at school like i always tell smith if you say dick at school, you are going to go to the principal's office. Wait, he says dick or mouth? Is that like a... Actually, I should have used the word boner. He says boner. If you say boner at school, you are going to go to the principal's office.

00:06:35 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 4:

He's talking about a skeleton, though.

00:06:37 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 3:

But you know what I mean? Josiah's not dumb. He probably sees people do those things. And I think if you say to him, look, I did this to grandma as a joke like we do not do that that is not what we believe we do not treat other people that way we don't you know just don't do it when somebody cuts you off in traffic

00:06:56 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 9:

kayla what's up it's mojo in the morning hey mojo hey kevin um for me so i'm a mom of three and i'm a foul mouth mom of three um and for me it's each kid is their own i don't treat all of them equally but it's their maturity how they're using it where they're using it because first of all they're going to hear it from me so if they're going to hear it from anywhere they're going to hear it from me but as long as they're using it in a respectful manner yeah sometimes joking around is cool but you know as long as they know they're where that limit lies you're not going to go to school and say it you're not going to say it to um you know out of out of context like that but But for me, it's their maturity and how they're using it.

00:07:41 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. If you're using it, use it in an appropriate way. Like, make sure it's in a proper sentence. Dramatically said correct.

00:07:51 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 3:

Honestly, when your kids swear and they use it, like, in the best way, I'm like, inside. Oh, yeah.

00:07:59 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 6:

Hey, Julie, what's up?

00:08:01 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 8:

Hi. Hi. Yeah, I was just talking about, So I think we shouldn't be the ones that teach our kids this way. They're going to hear us do it, but I don't think we should encourage it. We know they're going to do it, but I don't think it helps them in front of us.

00:08:15 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 6:

So we should instead let a truck driver teach them how. Are we going to say you have a mouth like a truck driver?

00:08:20 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 4:

Go ahead, Mike. Well, that's where I'm torn with this is because I agree. I think this is like an evolution. Like, they have to learn this stuff. It's going to happen. And I'm, like, on the opposite end of this where I'm trying to, like, hold back the innocence right now. And it's going to fail. I know it's going to fail. And I agree with what you're saying. Like, I just don't know when the right time is to do it. I have no idea either.

00:08:38 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 7:

But at the same time, hasn't language evolved to a point where these words are not as bad as they used to be? Well, yeah. Because back in the day, if you cursed at work, it was like a fireable offense. Yeah. And now you can talk to your boss and be like, this heaven sucks.

00:08:55 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:08:56 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 7:

And it's not like, it's more casual. It's more contextual and like emphasis rather than like degrading and mean.

00:09:03 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. I just like to use British words, you know? Same. Like, what? A wanker and wanker.

00:09:09 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 5:

The T word is my favorite. What is it? What's the T word? Taddy wanker? No, here, I'll type it. I can't say it. I'll type it.

00:09:15 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 6:

I think you can say it on American radio.

00:09:17 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 5:

I don't think.

00:09:18 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 7:

Let's just see what happens. I'm not getting tired.

00:09:20 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 6:

Richard, what's up? Richard?

00:09:23 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 1:

So, kind of funny story, super quick. My little sister at her wedding, my son flipped me off out of fun, and the photographer caught it. Like, what's the one in million chance of that?

00:09:33 - 00:09:33 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:09:33 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 1:

Um, but we're kind of like with what Shannon said is I try to teach my son when and where to do things out of more being funny rather than sharing hate, anger, or frustration. Yeah. And I use it as a way to take that moment to share better ways to show when you're angry and utilize it as being fun or funny.

00:09:56 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. I think that it's always, you know. fun and funny like at a wedding situation like you got the picture of that, like that's funny and stuff and it's also fun when you do it to the opposing team that's playing the Lions or something but it's not good when you're flipping off the teacher in the back of the room and you get that phone call right Richard? Hey, I need you to come to the principal's office

00:10:19 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, exactly

00:10:21 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 6:

Did you ever hear this, Kevin? Did you know the origins of the word balls on this radio show? I know it was Luke, right? So, Luke was about ready to start school, and he was young. He was getting ready to go to a Catholic school, to Notre Dame.

00:10:38 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:10:39 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 6:

What?

00:10:41 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 7:

Camera.

00:10:42 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 6:

It's not a camera. I'm going to ask you a couple questions.

00:10:47 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 7:

Okay, what?

00:10:48 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 6:

You're getting ready to start kindergarten, right? Yes, B? Yes. And you're going to a new school, right?

00:10:57 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 7:

Yes.

00:10:58 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 6:

Are you nervous?

00:11:00 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 7:

Yes.

00:11:01 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 6:

Are you excited?

00:11:02 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 7:

Yes.

00:11:03 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 6:

We have to talk about something.

00:11:05 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 7:

What?

00:11:07 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 6:

We have to talk about your use of the word balls.

00:11:12 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 7:

Balls.

00:11:12 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 6:

You can't say that word when you're in school.

00:11:15 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 7:

I know.

00:11:18 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 6:

Like, what are some of the ways you've used that word before? What have you said?

00:11:23 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 7:

Balls. Balls. Balls. Balls.

00:11:26 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 6:

And what else?

00:11:28 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 7:

Tree walls.

00:11:29 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 6:

What else?

00:11:31 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 7:

Seven.

00:11:35 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 6:

All right, here's the deal. You have to make me a promise. Okay? I want you to raise your hand real quick. Say, I, Lucas.

00:11:46 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 7:

I, Lucas. Dad, Dad, I was in preschool without saying any F word.

00:11:54 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 6:

I know you didn't say any F word. This is a different word, though. This is as bad as the F word, okay?

00:11:59 - 00:12:00 | Unknown:

Okay.

00:12:00 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 6:

Okay, say, I, Lucas.

00:12:02 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 7:

I, Lucas.

00:12:05 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 6:

Do promise.

00:12:06 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 7:

Do promise.

00:12:07 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 6:

That the only time I will say the word balls.

00:12:10 - 00:12:11 | Speaker 7:

Balls.

00:12:11 - 00:12:13 | Speaker 6:

Say the only time I will say the word ball.

00:12:13 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 7:

Balls.

00:12:14 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 6:

Say the only time.

00:12:16 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 7:

Balls.

00:12:16 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 6:

I will say the word.

00:12:19 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 7:

I'll say the word.

00:12:20 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 6:

Balls.

00:12:21 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 7:

Balls.

00:12:22 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 6:

We'll be in gym class.

00:12:23 - 00:12:27 | Speaker 7:

We'll be in gym class. How come I'm in gym class?

00:12:27 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 6:

Because basketball is football. How great is that, by the way? That's amazing. I went through all of preschool without saying the F word. It just kept getting progressively better. He was so proud of himself, too. Listen, Josiah, by the way, has a better vocabulary than I do. And honestly, he's more mature than any of us on this show. It's true. I think he's okay to go ahead and do it. You think so? I think so. I don't know. I'm telling you, I still want to do the bit where we have Josiah go to Kroger and just randomly just start saying inappropriate stuff. And then when people look at him like that's weird, he can just be like, I'm a little man. You know what I'm saying?

00:13:02 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 3:
