My name is Metarica, Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school. but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.

It's Mojo on the morning show. So we went out to a station thing last night, and you had an incident take place. Or I wouldn't say incident because it sounds like it was. I mean, it was. Yeah, what happened?

So what happened when you left your kids home alone? Now, I did not leave Lucy and Smith home alone. They are 10 and 7. I would never, ever do that. But my stepkids were home, and they're sophomore, senior, so totally fine. And actually, Samantha wanted to make a little bit of money. So we, Wes and I have always said, we never want to put her in a situation where she feels like she has to watch like, you know, her younger siblings, but she wanted to make money. So we needed a babysitter so that we could, you know, go out for the station thing. And so I said, we will pay you if you want to watch the kids. So anyway, all four were home last night while we were gone. And as we got home and we didn't even get home that late, but as we got home and walked through the door sam is screaming smith is screaming lucy's like in tears and she's like mom we almost had to call the fire department because there was a fire and i'm thinking what in the heck happened like we're thinking everything's gonna be fine and apparently that dang puppy the cute bad dog is what i call him bo unbeknownst to all of us so lucy has in her bedroom she has her bed she has a nightstand and there's a lamp on the nightstand but the cord and the plug is like behind and underneath her bed and beau loves to go under her bed he had chewed the cord oh no oh man to a point where lucy went to get into bed turned on her light and it started like majorly sparking and smoke filled her bedroom oh my god so they thought it started a fire right and they were gonna call the fire department but as this is happening like we're coming home oh my god how scary could you imagine could you imagine if you come home and

there's fire trucks in front of your house i would have died but i mean it literally all happened at

the same time but that dang dog i mean after the smoke cleared like yeah they weren't joking they weren't exaggerating i went under the bed and got it out and he had just like yeah nod on the court

and we didn't know because it was under the bed here's the topic um when you left and had a night out or whatever you left your kids home alone you know they were they were good what happened what crazy thing happened 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 is our telephone number we've had like kids like break bones with babysitters and stuff like that like we had that that situation which is the worst feeling ever because as a parent it's you know you are putting a responsible person there and accidents can happen anytime yeah but it's even worse when it happens and the kids are with a babysitter at times because you feel horrible do you ever blame the babysitter

for stuff like that because i always feel like so bad for the babysitter who probably feels so guilty but like it happens all the time happens at sports yeah

backyard with mom and dad home yep yep no yeah and this obviously was nothing that anybody had any idea of about nor could control right but i don't know i'll leave my kid with the babysitter

i come home they got a broke arm i don't know if i'm gonna be that understanding but i mean accidents do happen they do but i don't know if if that'll be my initial mindset is oh it's okay it could have happened anytime like no where's your antennas when you were jumping off the couch

We had another one incident where I remember we left a kid's home. And I can't remember what the girl's name was. It was a girl that lived on the street from us, went to West Bloomfield High School. And one of the kids called 911 because he was upset. I think it was Jacob. He was upset with Joe. And the cops did show up at the house. And they told us later, like, hey, he accidentally called 911 because he was mad at Joe. But he had saw that you can call the police. And he wanted to call the police on his brother because Jacob was upset with Joe for doing something.

Oh, my God. Hysterical.

Yeah. Um, text her here, 95500, Shannon, you are so lucky. Our house actually started on fire when the kids were home with a babysitter. That is a, that's gotta be like horribly scary. Uh, uh, 734, 734 says we left the kids home alone and the kids actually went out and our sitter could not find them. What's going on? Melissa. Hi.

hi i have a story about when i was a babysitter many years ago yeah so i was babysitting the family and i put the baby's bottle and that this is back when they were glass bottles and i put it in the microwave to heat up the baby's milk and the microwave blew up all over like blew up like shattered door everywhere so i in tears called my mom she came and picked me and the kids up brought us to her house um it destroyed these people's carpet in like in a dining room area it destroyed their flooring and then while they came to pick us up they had one of their older kids with them in the backseat of their car and they just left the car running to come in and get the baby for me in my house and while they were getting the baby for me um these two guys that You can't make this crap up. These two guys who had escaped from prison earlier that day came and stole their car with their child in it. Oh, my God.

This is like one thing on top of another. What? That's crazy.

Yeah. And the police had to, like, you know, chase them down. Oh, jeez. And they ended up having to wreck their car. I bet you they never, ever went out ever again.

Okay. So I wasn't feeling well, and I went to the hospital. My one friend took me, and her wife watched my son. And mid just waiting at the hospital, I get a phone call that he's having a seizure. Oh, God. And this, we didn't know anything before that. So I leave the hospital, try to fly to my house, get stuck by a train. I got pulled over. And I was a panic because this was a very, like the very first time we left him with anybody. Oh, my God.

How long did it take for you to leave them again after that?

Oh, it's, he had his first sleepover yesterday.

Hey, we're doing OK. Shannon left the kids home alone last night and they got it. You know, almost started the house. The dog got crazy. What's going on?

So we did actually have a babysitter, but the babysitter fell asleep. and at the time we had a pet raccoon and the pet raccoon was still in the house with us when we fell asleep. And so when my parents got home, the raccoon had gotten through all the trash and ate our pet fish.

Oh my God.

That's kind of your fault. You had a pet raccoon.

What the hell you got a pet raccoon for? That is insanity.

Raccoons are supposed to be like super cuddly and cute.

So we left my niece in charge of watching my one-year-old son, and she ended up dozing off, and he proceeded to take his diaper off and paint the entire house with what was inside of his diaper.

Alan Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting and design at Bishop State and stuck with it. Well, the sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. And I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day.
