terms and conditions apply all right it is mojo in the morning phone number 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 what are the lengths that people will go to to get free stuff our producer kp is here because you actually ran across a listener that told you a genius idea of how they get free stuff yes so i

00:02:20 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 10:

ran to a listener and she was like i had it is not anywhere near my birthday right now but i found out that at sephora they give you a gift on your birthday so she made a sephora account for her infant child wait a minute this is genius it is genius it got me thinking about all those people who spend their entire birthday just hopping from store to store claiming their birthday gift the lengths that people go just to get free stuff is amazing but this one's funny your infant child because it's a for a gift usually it's pretty good is it or you get the points it's like it's

00:03:02 - 00:03:04 | Speaker 6:

I'm more of an Ulta person.

00:03:04 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 4:

Oh, okay. So lately it's been either the mini sets weren't the greatest, but they've been doing full-size products, or you could get 500 points to put towards your account, which is what I usually do.

00:03:14 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 2:

But back in the day at Sephora, you used to get this body wash that smelled like birthday cake every single year, and it was the best thing in the entire world, and they stopped doing it and made me so mad. It smelled so freaking good.

00:03:26 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 6:

So she will use her kids Sign her kids up And then the kid gets the free thing Because it's their birthday The kid doesn't get it I know she's taking it But the kid's actually the one that the birthday gift is in Their name When you go into certain places by doing this Is this Do they ask you to show you who you are Or IDs or something Or do they just send you the gift I don't know, they sign up online

00:03:52 - 00:04:00 | Speaker 10:

I had another friend who signed up her boyfriend for the same thing, for Sephora points and gift cards. Or not gift cards, just a birthday gift.

00:04:00 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 6:

Do you know who I think that these people are? Who? These people are the same people that get credit cards out in their kids' names and run up their kids' credit cards out.

00:04:09 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 4:

Very Georgia Miller vibes. If you watch Ginny and Georgia on Netflix, you know exactly what I'm talking about. All of this reminds me of her. Do you think it's the same? No, it's not. I'm just throwing it out there.

00:04:18 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 6:

I didn't know you could do that. Well, you can.

00:04:22 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 4:

You might get in a little bit of trouble.

00:04:23 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 6:

Mike, there are people who will go get credit cards and put them in their kids' names using their kids' credit and then their kid goes on to be an adult after they're 18, tries to get credit only to find out that their parent, mom or dad ran up all this stuff on their credit and their credit was horrible.

00:04:42 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 7:

But did you have a good birthday?

00:04:45 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, the money was spent on you. Is it really that bad? 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Is this the same thing as the people that will go and fake it's their kid's birthday for the kids eat free type things or fake it.

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 3:

Or to get a free dessert. Or to get to the desserts. Not a lot of restaurants do the free desserts anymore.

00:05:03 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 1:

But that's honestly not, that's not that bad.

00:05:06 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 3:

We used to do that in high school. We would all take turns. I think the restaurants know. Applebee's or whatever.

00:05:10 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 1:

I think the restaurants kind of know that, that people do that.

00:05:12 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 3:

I think that's why they stopped doing it.

00:05:13 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 1:

Really?

00:05:14 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:05:15 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. I still, I'll still do the whole thing. Like they'll say, what are you celebrating today? And I'll say, oh, I'm celebrating so-and-so's birthday. My sons hate it when I'll celebrate their birthdays, you know, because they just get embarrassed anyway. They don't like it. When Jacob hates when the birthday or the restaurants come out and sing you happy birthday, his birthday actually is Friday, and Chelsea and I are going to take him out for his birthday, and there's one particular restaurant that he hates to go to because they come over and they sing, and it causes him to get anxiety because they all come over, and then they do the happy birthday, and they go, and they yell like that, and he gets all freaked out after that happens.

00:05:53 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 5:

I want to know where you can get the good stuff, though. Because I heard edible arrangements, they give you, like, dipped fruit or something for your birthday. And then Starbucks, you get a free drink. Get a free car wash. There are some good birthday stuff.

00:06:05 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 1:

I can't remember signing up for my Starbucks thing. But when you sign up, do you have to, like, prove that you're a person? Like, you don't have to put in anything other than just your name, right?

00:06:14 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 4:

I think you have to put in your birthday to say you're over 18, and that's how they know.

00:06:17 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 1:

Okay, but you can make up a person, right? You can make up, like, a John Doe or something like that? Yeah, yeah. Look at all these different texters here saying that they do the Sephora thing, the same thing with Sephora. They actually will put it in their other family members' names. I put it in my sister's name and get free stuff all the time. She has no idea. Another person here says I use my mom and my dad's information. They are both in their 60s, and I use their birthdates for a chance to get free stuff. The Sephora gift must be good. You know what's funny?

00:06:51 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 3:

Lucy Grace is about to turn 18. You know what's funny

00:06:56 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 1:

Is that this is like the battle With Sephora Because I'm a huge Ulta fan And people think I'm joking when I'm saying this

00:07:03 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 3:

Big sexy hair products

00:07:06 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 1:

Oh I get my shampoos I get the styling paste For my hair Facial cleansers KP it takes a lot of work to get this good

00:07:16 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 5:

I'm sorry I'm not giving you enough credit You got pretty clear skin

00:07:19 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 1:

You started zooming that camera in Now I gotta actually take care of myself even more But, no, but let me tell you this. The Sephora versus Ulta is like Chipotle versus, what the hell is it, Qdoba.

00:07:34 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 4:

There's a correct answer, though.

00:07:36 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

Yes.

00:07:36 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 4:

Which one is it? Ulta. Oh, Ulta.

00:07:38 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. I agree.

00:07:40 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 4:

And nobody, like, I was a Sephora girly for a long time, and they changed their reward system and their point system, and it made me very, very, very angry to the point where I do not go there anymore.

00:07:51 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 5:

You know what? Ulta does. Ulta is supreme because their return policy is so good. You can bring something back like five months later and they'll be like, okay, and take it back. I go to Sephora and try to return something that doesn't match my skin and they're like, it's been 30 days in one second. I'm sorry, you can't return

00:08:06 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 1:

that. Plus, to be honest with you, the outfits that the uniforms that they make the women wear at Sephora makes me feel a little handmaid's taily. What?

00:08:15 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

I didn't even know they wore a uniform. Oh my god, kind of.

00:08:19 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 1:

They wear these black Like dress smocks things And it makes me feel like I'm going to see Alfred there Or something like that

00:08:27 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 2:

Kind of

00:08:29 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 1:

What's going on Greg how you doing it's Mojo in the morning

00:09:28 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 3:

What did you do over the weekend that you were doing this this morning?

00:09:33 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 1:

Anne-Marie, what's happening?

00:09:34 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 3:

Good morning. I just wanted to call to see if you remember Bill Knapp's giving chocolate cake. That was famous chocolate cake.

00:09:41 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

That cake was the best.

00:09:43 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 3:

I think you can still buy the cake in the grocery store, but it is not the same.

00:09:46 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:09:46 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 3:

It's not the same. My father used to say, meet me for lunch, so I have to go get my chocolate cake.

00:09:50 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 1:

Oh, so good. What's going on, Adrienne?

00:09:54 - 00:09:55 | Speaker 3:

Adrienne, hi. I don't know.

00:09:56 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

You know what's funny is I knew that I was, when I looked up at the board.

00:09:59 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 3:

It's spelled Adrienne.

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 1:

Adrian, he was just trying to make it fancy for you.

00:10:01 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 4:

Adrian, what's going on?

00:10:03 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 3:

I appreciate it. I'm one of those people who spends my birthday getting free stuff. My birthday was March 31st, and I got free stuff from Panera, Starbuck, Alta, Sephora, Old Navy, DSW, Jersey Mike, Jimmy John. Wait, what does Jersey Mike's give you?

00:10:19 - 00:10:22 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, go through. What's the best thing? What's the best thing?

00:10:22 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 3:

They give you a free sandwich. Okay, so what do you do?

00:10:25 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 4:

Do you eat it all in one day, or do you save it for the week?

00:10:27 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 3:

Well, yeah, so I planned out, so I got breakfast from Panera, coffee from Starbucks, lunch from Jersey Mike's, my free cookie from Jimmy John's. Like, I just planned it out.

00:10:36 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 4:

That's amazing. And, Adrienne, when you do all this stuff and you go to all the different places, do you feel like you just wasted your birthday driving from location to location?

00:10:47 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 3:

No. It was like shopping all day, but I got a bunch of free stuff. Like, I didn't have to spend any money. It was great.

00:10:53 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 4:

And out of every place that you've mentioned, and you probably have even more there, who gives the best free thing?

00:11:00 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 3:

I would say probably Sephora.

00:11:03 - 00:11:12 | Speaker 4:

It's unbelievable. Yeah, Sephora. I don't know. You're throwing it out there because I just said that Ulta was better, aren't you?

00:11:13 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 3:

No, I love both of them, but Sephora is probably my favorite.

00:11:16 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 4:

Okay. All right. What's up, Sarah? How are you doing?

00:11:20 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 2:

Good morning. How are you guys doing? Good morning.

00:11:23 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 4:

What's going on?

00:11:25 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 2:

So me and my guy best friends, some nights we decide to go bar hopping and we fake proposals to get free drinks.

00:11:32 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 4:

Now that's genius. So do you guys have a ring and everything?

00:11:38 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, so we'll go out and, like, we'll start playing pool or something. And then, like, I'll go to the bathroom and he'll, like, fake set something up with a couple of the guys there. And then one time he actually did it with the DJ on the microphone.

00:11:52 - 00:12:44 | Speaker 4:

That is unbelievably genius. So can I tell you a funny story? My buddy was looking for a reservation at a restaurant, and he couldn't get a reservation at this restaurant, really wanted to go there, was going on a first date that he met, this girl on Hinge. So what he did was he called up the restaurant manager and told the restaurant manager that a year ago they had their first date at his restaurant, and that on Saturday, the night that he couldn't get a restaurant reservation, he wanted to propose to her at the same table, and the restaurant manager gave him a table, the actual table that he wanted, and on the first date with another girl that he met on Hinge, he had to tell her, I just want to let you know that the only way I got this table was by doing this thing.

00:12:44 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 6:

Oh, why did he even say anything?

00:12:45 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 4:

Well, he did it because they were waiting for the proposal to come out. And the girl thought it was hysterical. She thought it was the cutest thing ever. And she played along and they had a great dinner. And the manager ended up buying them desserts and gave them a champagne bottle and all the rest of that stuff.

00:13:01 - 00:13:03 | Speaker 2:

I hope they have an epic relationship.

00:13:04 - 00:13:17 | Speaker 4:

Actually, it didn't work out. I think they only got a one and done on that whole deal. This is the best one, though. We were looking for the best freebie that you can get. Megan, Mike, Shannon, KP, Lydia. BJ is on the phone with us right now.

00:13:17 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 1:

A pre-roll from the dispensary.

00:13:22 - 00:13:28 | Speaker 4:

Wow. What do you do? Do you fake it's your birthday and they give you a free pre-roll?

00:13:28 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 1:

No, you have your ID so they can see that it's your birthday. But, yep, here in Michigan, majority of the dispensaries, you get a pre-roll.

00:13:35 - 00:13:37 | Speaker 4:

So can you sign your kid up for that?

00:13:40 - 00:13:57 | Speaker 5:
