We'll be right back.

00:02:29 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 4:

good morning and welcome to the mojo in the morning show hello uh we are coming to you live from a very empty ford field i think it's us our great audio people and three security guards

00:02:54 - 00:02:55 | Speaker 1:

Wait, just three?

00:02:56 - 00:03:00 | Speaker 4:

Yes. Well, maybe no. I think that's all. That's all I saw.

00:03:00 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 1:

Are important people listening right now?

00:03:02 - 00:03:09 | Speaker 4:

Well, we are doing a broadcast this morning for the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and I'm assuming that some of them might be driving down here right now.

00:03:09 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 1:

This might be my only opportunity to run on that field. Go.

00:03:13 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 4:

Oh, my gosh. I want to go with you.

00:03:15 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh.

00:03:16 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 4:

You got to do it naked, though.

00:03:17 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 1:

All right, deal. There's just like 17 layers. I'm sucking this in right now.

00:03:22 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 4:

Do it in Spanx.

00:03:23 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 1:

All right, deal.

00:03:23 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 4:

You may be the only person that has ever done it in Spanx on the field. Could you imagine? Welcome to the show that we're broadcasting. I don't know how the audience, how does it sound, by the way? Are we sounding okay today? I just want to make sure we have broadcast capabilities for the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. But I ain't going to lie. Sometimes when I do these live broadcasts in all the years that I've been broadcasting, it's a toss-up. I have no idea what it sounds like out there in radio land. So will you call us and tell us how the microphones sound? This is the actual live mic check that we do. So I guess what we're doing here today is, honestly, I have no idea. Colleen, our boss, the president of iHeart Media Michigan, Colleen Grant, we love her to death. She never asks us to do anything. She says, I am on the board of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, and I would be forever grateful if you guys would broadcast your show live from Ford Field, which I thought, oh, this is kind of cool. I'm thinking, during a Lions game? Yeah. No. No. On a Thursday in November in front of a bunch of future broadcasters. Which is so cool. And I thought, did you clear it through the other people at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters?

00:04:45 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 1:

Do they want us? Are we good examples?

00:04:48 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

Have they heard the content of this radio program? Are you sure you don't want just Shannon? Yeah. By the way, Shannon will speak to them later today. I'm honored.

00:05:00 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 1:

It's funny because in all the years that I have been broadcasting, I have never been asked to broadcast from any association of any broadcasters. Matter of fact, I've been told not to broadcast from associations of broadcasters. But here we are.

00:05:16 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 3:

Matter of fact, we've been celebrating you losing awards for associations of broadcasters.

00:05:20 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 1:

I'm one big fat effing loser. That's what I am. I'm the king of – but I'm the Lions pre-Dan Campbell. yeah maybe this maybe colin grant is my dan campbell yeah but i'm i'm the kid that was cut

00:05:35 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

during uh pre-season you know you know who is that guy uh you never heard about him again

00:05:42 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 1:

yeah well i don't know uh let's see here i'm looking at uh audio here i'm looking somebody says audio very low who just said that to us i have no idea who that is that is lydia that is lydia that just said that audio is very low how low are we how low can we go are you there zach Can you hear me? How do I sound, Zach? Very low. Very low? Yeah, we're working on it.

00:06:06 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 2:

It also sounds like the speakers in here might be a little too loud.

00:06:10 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 1:

Oh, okay. Maybe we turn the speakers down a little bit. We got a little bit of echo. Guys, don't worry about this. Sorry.

00:06:15 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I think that's better. I think that's a lot better.

00:06:18 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 1:

How does that sound? Does that sound better, Zach? A lot better.

00:06:20 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:06:21 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 1:

By the way, Zach. Thank you, Zach.

00:06:22 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 3:

You're so, like, very laid back today and quiet.

00:06:26 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 1:

He kind of sounds like the guys that...

00:06:28 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 3:

Can everybody else hear Zach, or is it just us in our ears that we can hear Zach? It reminds me of that SNL skit, like, oh, I love your balls.

00:06:35 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 1:

This shreddy, what is it? Yeah.

00:06:36 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's the shreddy balls. Those balls are so good. Oh, my God. That's very accurate, Shannon.

00:06:42 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 1:

By the way, if you're wondering where Kev is, because Kev would be the energy to this whole thing. Kev called in sick this morning. He wasn't feeling good yesterday. He actually told us, but he didn't want to let us down, he says. I was on the phone with him for 30 minutes this morning at 4 a.m. And he was like, I feel like I'm letting the team down. I don't want to do this. It's so funny. All I kept thinking the whole time, the entire time, is I've never had anybody that for 30 minutes was trying to talk himself out of calling his sick. And he sounded not great.

00:07:15 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 3:

He didn't feel well yesterday, you could tell.

00:07:17 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 1:

So he was like, I feel bad. I feel like I'm letting everybody down and everything. And I said to him, Michael Jordan would have played. oh you're so mean he had the flu game okay lebron you know you want to be lebron you can be lebron hopefully i like it i'm michael jordan i love it by the way how do we sound now do we sound better

00:07:40 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 3:

now my sweet husband who is listening says we sound a lot better okay good cool cool cool zach

00:07:45 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 1:

let's get more of zach here hi zach how you doing what up let's go there you go by the way so you have to be kev then today all right uh yep let me hear air horn let me get the horn oh oh one you caught me off guard but you remember you got a da da da da and you okay let's practice someone's on the phone lester say lester because lester's on the phone you got to hit the ding though at the same time you got it all right i got it here we go ready ready uh oh my god first time long time my name is lester lester's on the phone there you go all right all right We're good. We're good. All right. Well, let's begin. Let's begin, folks. And by the way, Lydia, I have no idea how we're doing the call-in part. Send me that because I didn't bring my iPad. I'm a mess today.

00:08:31 - 00:08:32 | Speaker 2:

I did text that to you.

00:08:33 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 1:

You did? Oh, good.

00:08:34 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 2:

I'll get it. Don't worry. I got it.

00:08:35 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 1:

I am kind of a mess today. Don't hold me back. Chelsea, text me. Megan and Shannon sound good. Maybe that she's just a – Thanks, Chelsea. Maybe I don't. Maybe I'm not very good. Okay, here we go. All right, here we go. This is our call sheet. We're doing it live. We're doing this live. Hold on. Amber, can you hear me, Amber?

00:08:58 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 2:

Good morning. Good morning. Good to you.

00:09:01 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 1:

What's happening, Amber? Hi.

00:09:02 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 2:

Oh, you're just like way far back like in a closet. Like you're hiding is what it sounds like.

00:09:07 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 1:

Well, I'll be honest with you. There's something I need to tell you. I'm a little scared of people. I'm hiding in the closet this morning.

00:09:16 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 2:

Are you ready to come out of that closet?

00:09:19 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 1:

Honestly, maybe. And it would be a broadcast, an MAB moment here this morning. We will do that. Does it sound better at all or no? Do I still sound like I'm in the closet?

00:09:29 - 00:09:38 | Speaker 2:

Well, now that I have my radio turned down and I can only hear you guys live, it's better on the phone. So I'm assuming if I can hear you on the phone, it's probably better on the radio.

00:09:38 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 1:

All right. Maybe there's something here. Check a one, two. Check a one, two. How's that, Zach? Is it better? Am I out of the closet? Uh, you're still in the closet, but it sounds good. Could the guy just come out of the closet, please? Give it up for Zach, everybody.

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 3:

Giving himself applause. I love it. He's humble, too.

00:10:05 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. All right, I just want to make sure we sound okay today. We want to make sure. Here's the problem, Amber. We're kind of in a little bit of a weird place. This is a bunch of professional broadcasters, and, like, I'm walking up and down. I see Odyssey is going to be here, so I have no idea. Maybe, I don't know, maybe I get to see Mike Villeney. I love Mike Villeney, so I hope he's here. I saw that Midwest broadcasters, I think they own radio stations like Lansing and Grand Rapids. Those guys are here.

00:10:35 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 2:

A lot of the colleges are sending people, too. So cool. Like, I see Grand Valley.

00:10:40 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. I saw Lawrence Tech. I saw, I think, Michigan State.

00:10:43 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 2:

Wayne State is over there.

00:10:44 - 00:10:56 | Speaker 1:

Wayne State. So what it is, Amber, is I think that there's a bunch of high school broadcasters, like, you know, some of the kids from probably maybe Bloomfield Hills radio station, which they got a great radio station.

00:10:56 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 3:

I did not know they had one.

00:10:57 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 1:

Oh, they got a great one. That's cool. Honestly, they got better equipment than we do in our old building that we'll be getting out of. So thank God. But Amber, these guys are going to come down here, and they're going to see us, and they're going to say, maybe we should go to, like, medical school or something. You know?

00:11:16 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, that law degree is looking a lot better.

00:11:18 - 00:11:19 | Unknown:

Yeah.

00:11:19 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 1:

What do you think? What do you think, Amber? Do you think that we'll entice them to continue to want to be a broadcaster? or do you think that these kids are going to nursing school at Madonna by the end of this whole thing?

00:11:30 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 3:

I mean, it's a toss-up. However, I think you're going to lead them in the right direction. So I think radio is going to be in their calling if they continue to work with you guys.

00:11:38 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 1:

All right. Well, thank you. Thanks for giving us a pump-up there. All right. We'll talk to you later, Amber.

00:11:43 - 00:11:45 | Speaker 3:

Have a great one, guys.

00:11:45 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 1:

T, what's going on, T? Yo, you guys sound like you're on a cable access show,

00:11:53 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 3:

show but to be horrible that's the quality of content we bring every day i love it just

00:11:59 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 1:

like sounds terrible by the way i keep you keep asking if it sounds better that doesn't make it better gee you know what it would we be one of those cable access shows where the guys talk about video games the entire time and we probably still want to hear you oh we i i love i used to love i actually i that's how i started that was my broadcasting debut was on a cable jones intercable shut up i swear to god i did a show called speaking of sports one day i'm going to have

00:12:33 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 2:

you guys watch does anybody have a vhs player i'll buy one my dad does no my dad does yeah

00:12:39 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 1:

So it's really wild. It's a VHS tapes of me on a show called Speaking of Sports, and we would sit around a round table, and we would talk about the high school sports games and stuff like that.

00:12:50 - 00:12:53 | Speaker 3:

Did it air at, like, Sunday mornings at 4 a.m.?

00:12:53 - 00:12:56 | Speaker 1:

No, it actually aired at primetime. It was at good times.

00:12:56 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 3:

Oh, well, look at you.

00:12:57 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah. My wife keeps texting. I sound far away, guys. Do I still sound far away? Do you want to swap? Huh?

00:13:06 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 3:

We can swap places. You want to swap places?

00:13:08 - 00:13:13 | Speaker 1:

No, maybe should I try one of those microphones or something? Ooh, we could. Should I do that?

00:13:13 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 3:

But I'll swap with you.

00:13:14 - 00:13:18 | Speaker 1:

I don't know. If you want, I'll swap. I'll come out of the closet for that.

00:13:18 - 00:13:20 | Speaker 3:

No, my God, Chelsea. Good Lord.

00:13:20 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 1:

Do you want to be next to Shannon?

00:13:22 - 00:13:24 | Speaker 3:

That's what it really is. Yes, that's what it is.

00:13:24 - 00:13:25 | Unknown:

What about this one?

00:13:25 - 00:13:27 | Speaker 2:

Oh, of course not. Okay, I don't, you know.

00:13:28 - 00:13:29 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:13:29 - 00:13:31 | Speaker 3:

This is the earliest we've ever gotten to a broadcast, too.

00:13:31 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. I like the equipment, though. I'm not going to lie to you. It's nice equipment. It's fancy. It's really good stuff. All right, who else we got on the phone here? Anybody else on the phone?

00:13:41 - 00:13:46 | Speaker 2:

These are my favorite breaks to do, by the way. It's just like we're just talking to ourselves. It's just us, even though I think there are people listening.

00:13:47 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 1:

I don't think we do have listeners this early in the morning. I think we got Amber and T, and I think they're the only two.

00:13:52 - 00:13:54 | Speaker 2:

And Wes and Chelsea. And Wes and Chelsea.

00:13:54 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 1:

Oh, Wes is sending notes, too.

00:13:56 - 00:14:12 | Speaker 2:

Wes is sending lots of notes, yep. He was on his way to the gym. He is at the gym now. He said, Tom's mic is popping. He gives the best notes. Your background audio is overpowering your mics. Okay. Yeah.

00:14:13 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 1:

I love it. Hold on a second, sir. You're walking around Ford Field, and it looks like you might have food from a concessions area. What is that? What do you have there?

00:14:25 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 2:

I love that this man is completely here, Morgan. He's old. He probably can't hear you.

00:14:28 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 1:

Excuse me, sir. Are you going into Lefty's Cheesesteak there? Hi. How are you?

00:14:32 - 00:14:34 | Speaker 2:

Oh, he's so cute. He's wearing a bow tie.

00:14:34 - 00:14:52 | Speaker 1:
