It's Mojo in the Morning Show. Kev has a thing that happened at a wedding that he wanted to bring up right now, and I want to get everybody's opinion on this one. So when was this wedding, Kev? This wedding was a couple of weeks ago. And this is interesting because I have never heard of a couple doing this. What was it that the couple had for a rule?

00:01:36 - 00:02:06 | Speaker 4:

So the rule, and this is in the invitation. It's printed. It's clear. It's no way you missed it if you read the invitation. So it tells you what time to be there, where to be, kind of tells you a little bit about the attire. And then there's a line at the end that says, if you are not here by this time, the doors will be locked. So, basically, we're not allowing anybody to walk in during our procession. Nothing is going to interrupt the flow of this wedding. If you are not here by this time, the doors will be locked and you'll be locked out.

00:02:06 - 00:02:09 | Speaker 5:

Let me guess. You and Cherelle, who are late for everything, were locked out.

00:02:11 - 00:02:29 | Speaker 4:

You're wrong. No, really? Oh, my God. Wait, how did you guys get there on time? Because we're timely individuals. We probably just don't show up on time for our event. But if you have an event, then we'll be there on time. So, what happened? So, I'm sitting down. Sherelle's in the wedding, so she's off door.

00:02:29 - 00:02:31 | Speaker 5:

Oh, that's why Sherelle was here in time.

00:02:31 - 00:02:33 | Speaker 4:

Well, I mean, I didn't drive with her, so.

00:02:33 - 00:02:33 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:02:34 - 00:02:34 | Unknown:

Okay.

00:02:35 - 00:02:35 | Speaker 4:

You good now?

00:02:35 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 5:

I'm good, go ahead.

00:02:37 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 4:

So, I get there. Sherelle's there. I get there. I'm sitting down, and I hear the guy behind me. He's looking at his watch. Apparently, he's like, oh, I want to know if they're going to shut the doors. Like, they said he was going to lock the doors. I'm here in time. Everybody's kind of making jokes or whatever like that. They give the people about a five, ten-minute grace period, and we're like, man, ain't nobody worried about these doors. I just said that here, right here. Little do we know, the music starts. People are starting to walk in. The wedding party's walking in. You look back, and you can see people locked outside of the wedding.

00:03:06 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 3:

Are you talking about, like, the door, the main doors to the church or, like, the whole church? You know what I'm talking about?

00:03:12 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 4:

Not the vestibule area. This is a church or whatever this place was that has an outside door. It's where you can literally walk in the establishment. Kind of like our radio station. Right. And then there's a clear door to let you into where the procession is taking place. Right. They didn't let people into the first door. So they were outside, outside. And it wasn't like five, maybe a handful of people. It was like a full row of people that are literally standing by the window, like looking in. Hands across, like no pamphlets. Did anybody knock? No, I mean, I couldn't hear them if they did. I was in the front.

00:03:46 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 5:

What would have happened if somebody in the back of the church were to get up and open the door for them? Would the bridal party have been outside?

00:03:53 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 4:

You probably had to deal with somebody's mama or daddy at that point. So when did they let them all in after the bride got to the front? So, I mean, at a certain point, I forgot they were there because I turned my head to the front and watched the wedding commence. So in my mind, they didn't allow them in until everybody started to walk out.

00:04:09 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 6:

I love this. I think it's a great idea, too. I do. I think that sometimes people can be so disruptive during a service, especially when... Now, there's different kinds of wedding services, right? i grew up catholic there's the five minute service and these there's the hour and a half full communion service yeah don't ever do that one you're a horrible person if you choose to do that one um but if it's like a 10 minute service and the whole time is just like doors opening and closing and people shuffling in and causing a distraction it would be annoying if it's the hour and a half service maybe let them in they must know they have really late friends to write

00:04:47 - 00:04:53 | Speaker 5:

that on the invitation yeah yeah yeah i think that that is and by the way are you one of the

00:04:53 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

late friends they made that rule for well i mean i was there on time so i i think that

00:05:00 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 3:

disrupting a wedding by walking in, like that door opening up. And I've been at some of these weddings where that's happened, where it's a small little place and the door is like really close to where the bride's standing and the groom's standing. And then the big cathedral type churches, when you open a door, you hear, and the echo goes through it because there's only like a third full.

00:05:21 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 4:

It's like if you go to see a musical and if you are late, they make sure that the opening number is done before they will let anybody else sit down.

00:05:30 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 3:

Texters here are saying, this is a great idea, but at my wedding, there'd be nobody in the seats because nobody was at my wedding at the time. Another one here. This is from 586. 586 says, and by the way, 844-MOJO-LIVE or text 95500 says, my bridesmaid was late for our wedding and showed up as the wedding started. How are you a bride? What do they say? Isn't there like some kind of a thing?

00:05:57 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 4:

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride?

00:05:59 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 3:

No, late for your own wedding or something.

00:06:00 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 4:

Oh.

00:06:01 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 3:

That person's so late, they were late for their own wedding.

00:06:03 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah.

00:06:04 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think it's funeral. Or late for their own funeral. Oh, that's what it is. Okay. What would you do to your bridesmaid if your bridesmaid showed up late to the wedding? Jeez. My dad was late to our wedding. And honestly, I thought my dad died. I hate to say this. Oh, God. But he was so sick. And he got some kind of stomach thing from the rehearsal dinner the night before and wasn't there. And I was so worried. I was, like, texting away with people going, but we almost, like, postponed the wedding or waited a little bit. And the Monsignor was like, we have to have the wedding. And my dad finally showed up. But he was sitting on the toilet having, as he said, a BM, a bowel movement.

00:06:43 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I would be livid.

00:06:46 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 3:

Misfit Billy, what's up?

00:06:48 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, those biscuit ears put that daggone rule on me. I'd be the first one at the reception area. I'd jump on that food like there's no tomorrow.

00:06:56 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

Start drinking right away, right?

00:06:58 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'll be on everything.

00:07:00 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Are you an on-time person? It doesn't sound like it.

00:07:04 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 2:

No, I'm very on-time.

00:07:06 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:07:07 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

You know, you can put rules on me. I'm going to defy you.

00:07:09 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Well, listen to this. A wedding planner just texted us and said, I'm a wedding planner, an event planner, and that is a normal thing. We will actually. On five? What's going on, Maddie?

00:07:21 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 6:

Hi.

00:07:22 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 3:

Hi. Hi, Maddie. You guys see this often?

00:07:24 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. Yeah, so I worked for a wedding planning company, and I would have to stand outside with people that showed up late, and I would have, like, 10 to 15 people stand with me. And then once the bride got down the aisle, we would have to escort them, like, a back route, and they would have to sit in the back row of the seat.

00:07:41 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 3:

Wow. So that was a common thing. Did you ever see somebody so close to the bride or the groom be the late person?

00:07:47 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 6:

Oh, yeah. I have this girl bawl her eyes out because she had to drive two hours for the wedding and she was late. So she didn't even get to see her best friend go down the aisle.

00:07:56 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 3:

Oh, man. Did anybody try to bribe you to get in?

00:08:00 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 6:

No, that didn't happen.

00:08:02 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 3:

You probably wouldn't let him in. Would you?

00:08:05 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 4:

I slipped you a 20.

00:08:07 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 3:

Wendy, what did you want to say?

00:08:08 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 5:

i'm just absolutely flabbergasted that people have so little respect for a bride and groom and the the importance of a wedding that a bride and groom have to threaten to lock people out i'm just blown away at that it's a wedding it's not like it's a kid's birthday party these two people are getting married and they cared enough to invite you Get your ass there on time.

00:08:36 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 4:

It's a good pep talk, Wendy.

00:08:38 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 3:

You need to be the event planner for weddings. Kendra, who is late for the wedding?

00:08:44 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 6:

My husband.

00:08:45 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 3:

Oh, jeez. What was his excuse?

00:08:49 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 6:

Well, it was actually the rehearsal. He was in the bathroom of the church growing up for two hours.

00:08:56 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 3:

Did he party and have his bachelor party the night before?

00:08:59 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 6:

No, he claims it was the food he ate, but it turns out it was just nerves.

00:09:04 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 3:

Oh, that's right.

00:09:05 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 6:

So we had all of the groomsmen and my dad in the bathroom trying to give him a pep talk.

00:09:12 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 3:

You know what? They say that that's a good luck thing if your husband's late for the wedding.

00:09:16 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. Well, I didn't. I was also a ball of nerves at that point.

00:09:21 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 3:

By the way, it's not really a good luck thing. I was going to say, all the husbands are. They're all. That's crazy.

00:09:27 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 6:

He showed up, but yeah.

00:09:28 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 3:

Can you imagine you're so nervous to get married, you're throwing up in the back of the church? Oh, my gosh.

00:09:33 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 6:

Well, then I was nervous for the actual wedding day because if he was that nervous for the rehearsal. Yes, I would be the same. Yeah.

00:09:41 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 3:

Thank you for the call.

00:09:43 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, thanks.

00:09:44 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:10:37 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 1:

Alan Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up arrolling. The instructor, first I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. And I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day.
