What makes a D a D, Lydia?

When we get like two calls per topic and then we have to extend the topic to 15 minutes It's because nobody's calling, and then it pisses me off at the tail end when people want to start calling, even though I love it. Don't get me wrong. But why are you calling at the last minute? I wanted you, like, at the eight-minute mark.

You don't care about anyone but yourself.

Maybe it's the delay. Yeah, that's what I would say to Dee is. No, it's the break.

So this is the thing, though, and I've said this before, and actually I'm going to be hosting a panel at Morning Show Boot Camp. it's going to be called grading your show you always grade us bad no but i'm going to say this you always get you get bad calls the week after you've been gone for vacation and the problem with that is people tend to kind of get back to a new routine and we got to get our listeners back to the routine of listening to the show and participating um i also think fourth of july

Because some holidays, that's not true. Fourth of July, especially this year, is tough because of the way it fell on a Saturday and a weekend. So I feel like we chose to take off last week. I feel like there are a lot of people that are going to be off for the next couple of days because they chose to take a long weekend on the backside of the July 4th holiday. You know what I mean?

Did we get the Friday before that off?

No, we were here.

No, like.

We did. That was a comp day.

I need to figure that out because I put it in.

I need to get some PTO back.

But look, so since I've been here, I think my very first year here, you, Mojo, made this a conversation as a, like, trying to identify when we should take off because a lot of people are traveling for the 4th of July. Yeah. And I remember my first year, he was like, we should just take two weeks off because people aren't here the week of and nine times out of 10, they not really here the week after. So we should just take two off.

Well, it used to be back when, and I don't know, maybe Kenyatta or some other people that work in the plants can tell us the plants would always close down. They would shut down for two weeks. So you would always have the two week break. And I used to say this all the time, uh, to the show, I would say, why don't we just take off when everybody else is off? Because everybody's off. You know what I mean? Uh, and then there are some people that, uh, you know, some people get a little worked up about when we're gone, that they got to listen to a replay.

But if they're not calling anyway, then what's the point?

I know. I know. I think we might have screwed up. I think we probably should have taken this week off, and last week we probably could have worked. Because it seemed like I knew some people that were still working last week. I didn't realize it.

I feel like everybody was still working, but I feel like we did this. And thank you, because I had my kids last week, not this week. And I wouldn't have been able to travel.

I don't know. I did not have custody of Shannon's kids.

I did not have my children. I don't have my children this week. Same.

I had Josiah last week, too. Okay. So it was nice. You know what?

frustrated today i'm not as frustrated because honestly there were some topics that lydia scheduled i didn't even do because i'm like those are my favorite they're not they're not even worth it because nobody nobody will be here to wait just wait before you pick up nischelle because

Oh, I can't even imagine. I know I just heard from Kenyatta, and she said they did not do a shutdown this year.

So they worked through all of that.

My son's plant does.

So I don't know. they just need their front so that's that's unbelievable they don't have air conditioning in those plants and this one it's horrible and they were fighting us about keeping our fans and we have to go coveralls and last week was like do you remember remember when you're in

school and you didn't have air conditioning in your classroom and the teacher you know wouldn't open the windows all the way and you couldn't get a good breeze it was like brutal or in college

laying in your dorm room.

Oh, college dorm rooms are the worst. Or just being at your grandma's house on a plastic couch. I'd rather stand. And she's got the temperature thermostat set up.

Alan Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. and I've already got a job shadow before and hopefully I will internship over the summer.
