This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:06 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 7:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be the thing you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four year.

WKQI Detroit. WSNX Muskegon Grand Rapids. WVKS Toledo. Three great stations. One stupid show. This is Mojo in the Morning live.

00:02:44 - 00:03:16 | Speaker 8:

Mojo in the Morning show. So I'm going to have Lydia come in from the other room where she answers phones and screens calls, and I'm going to have her do the next topic here on the show. Lydia rekindled an old relationship, and now she's willing to talk about it on the air because she said that this is a way to cleanse your soul. I feel like I should put on my Pope costume for this one here so that you can confess to Father Mojo.

00:03:17 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 1:

Confess.

00:03:18 - 00:03:19 | Speaker 8:

That's right.

00:03:19 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 1:

Okay.

00:03:20 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 8:

What's going on, Lydia?

00:03:21 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 1:

Well, Father, forgive me for I've sinned. Let's start with that.

00:03:24 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 8:

What happened?

00:03:26 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 1:

So for some time now, I've been in contact with a guy that you guys know, and I wanted to rekindle this relationship with him. oh no no i know and before you guys judge me because this is what i'm most nervous about i love this guy so much that i was willing to try again with him oh my goodness no no no no no no really yeah but unfortunately it's like when you are going back to the same thing that hurt you you're only going to get the same outcome. And that's what happened to me. So last Saturday, you know, I was spending time by myself and I was supposed to hang out with this said guy and he canceled on me for family reasons, which I understood. But that night I had the courage to tell him, I don't want to do life completely by myself. I want to have a companion, someone that I can share life with, someone I can get married to and someone I can have kids with. And as I was telling him this, I felt like he had no interest in what I was saying whatsoever. And he's like, we will talk about this tomorrow. And I was like, okay, next day comes, everything's fine. It's going good. And then he lays it down on me later on in the day over text telling me that he doesn't think he'll be able to get married in the time span that I want to get married in. And that he needs to let me go instead of working on things, which really.

00:05:00 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 2:

upset me as you guys saw on monday morning i was a mess but look at us a week later guys wow and

00:05:06 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 4:

you're able to talk about it sometimes sometimes you need to have a little bit of that week just to kind of pull things together can we ask questions uh absolutely so you got a hotel room because you were going to hook up with this no i was not going to hook up with him we were just

00:05:21 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 2:

going to go out to dinner by the way i never hooked up with this guy i want to make it well though. Why'd you need a hotel? No, I was spending the weekend by myself. I just was doing a staycation, but he was going to come with me. Okay. Okay.

00:05:39 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 3:

We got Lydia

00:05:46 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 4:

in here too. And we got the guy that we all don't want her to hang out with. All right, well, enough of that. Okay, so, Lydia, first off.

00:06:04 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 2:

Yes, Mojo.

00:06:04 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 4:

We're not going to judge you because everybody has a moment of weakness. But we don't necessarily want you to, you know, ever be unhappy and not share with us. but you took a week to tell us on this because you were just feeling that it was too fresh to

00:06:26 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 2:

talk about yeah and i didn't know if i could keep my feelings together like i had posted a tiktok and it was about me being sad and then i realized a couple days in that i was getting less sad and less sad and it took a full circle for me to be like you know what i'm that girl and i don't need to be upset like you don't want to be in my life and you don't see me as your wife God bless you and I hope you find your wife but I just know that I should have been that one and you just gotta move with grace

00:06:54 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 3:

and sometimes I feel like when you get your heart broken or you have a vision that your life is gonna look a certain way and it doesn't it leaves this hole and the easiest way to fill that hole is with the thing that was once there and I think that's why we reach out to that because yeah it created the hole and i want that peace to be there but it left for a reason and when you

00:07:22 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 4:

reached out to him obviously you thought things were going to be good you thought that his

00:07:26 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 2:

feelings were also going to be the same this was someone that i i thought even though we've been through so much i was like i actually want to marry you like i want to make things work with you you know you choose your person and that's somebody that you trust and you love regardless of what you've been through you just feel it and i was like this is who i i do want to be with in the end but i guess he just didn't feel the same i give i give him credit though because he had

00:07:52 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 4:

you in a very vulnerable situation and he could have easily led you down that path of

00:08:00 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 2:

messing with your heart of course he said that he's like i just don't want to disappoint you

00:08:04 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 4:

and for that i respect him which i i will tell you this i think majority of guys would have would have just you know smashed her look to you as prey you know yeah don't you agree most guys i know for sure for sure for sure for sure that was a very grown-up thing that he did and so props to you man that i don't want lydia to be with i wish that he had picked up the phone and

00:08:27 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 2:

called me or met me up in person because i feel like what we've been through is so much more than just an overtext thing and to let me go like you don't care which is what he did yeah made me feel kind of low how many times has this conversation been had he's done this to me five times like this is like his fifth time telling me he doesn't want to disappoint me if he can't marry me but then also telling me he can't live without me which doesn't make sense to me but he said we can still be best friends which i declined were those in-person conversations um it was very rare where there's probably two times where he's told me that and that's when we've been on our off time so it's like off and on off and on for years and eventually it's i guess it just got exhausting

00:09:10 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 4:

right he only has the strength over text it seems like yeah to do it well she just said they did it

00:09:15 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 2:

sometimes in person there was twice where he's probably done that i would say um comment from

00:09:20 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 4:

brianna on this lydia just shared with us uh something very personal brianna you want what

00:09:25 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 1:

did you want to say i just wanted to say in the great words of steve harvey harvey don't let a tell you twice that he don't want you you are so much more worth more than anything else

00:09:41 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 4:

yeah and don't ever go back because it's never good it's rough lydia could you ever see yourself taking him back if he did say all right now i'm ready but i don't know if i believe that

00:09:57 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

like do i believe that you're ready for the sixth time

00:09:59 - 00:10:01 | Unknown:

You

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 1:

do i believe that you love me and you won't leave me i don't know uh mike what's going on

00:10:06 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 5:

hey how's it going guys i got some advice for lydia i like i know it's hard it is very hard when you feel that way but i've learned the hard way in these situations you got to let this situation happen you know can't go out searching for it because when you search for it all the wrong things happen you got to let what happens naturally be the best thing for you yeah well

00:10:28 - 00:11:05 | Speaker 6:

Well, and we all know Lydia, right? You know Lydia. You're the listener of the show. You've been here for a while. She deserves the best. And for her to think that this guy is going to come around would be settling, Lydia. And as your brothers and sisters and fathers and all the other people that we want to be to you, we want you to know that there is the right, the best out there for you. And you just got to understand that and understand. And I know you're a woman of faith, a strong woman of faith. You've got to understand that God already knows who it is. It's already somebody walking around right now, you know?

00:11:06 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 1:

Amen.

00:11:06 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 6:

So I love that you called. Thanks so much for that, Mike. What's up, Melissa?

00:11:12 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 2:

Okay, I have a quote because Lydia is a person of faith. This is what you need to remember. God will block your value from people who are not assigned to your destiny, Lydia. Everything happens for a reason. God has a plan for you.

00:11:27 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:11:27 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 2:

Thanks, Melissa.

00:11:28 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 6:

How do you feel like last weekend was for her? Don't you think last weekend was a good growth moment for her instead of?

00:11:35 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 2:

Exactly.

00:11:36 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 6:

And I know you were torn up. I mean, I could see it on your face when you came in here on Monday. I mean, you are not the Lydia that we know and love.

00:11:44 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 1:

Can I tell you something about that? Is I was just going to try to ride it out. I wasn't going to share it with anybody. I was going to deal with it in silence. And I couldn't do it. Like, my heart was hurting so bad. And I'm like, Lydia, you can do this. but you have to share it with the people who love you and who you love.

00:11:59 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 6:

That's beautiful. How does it feel that you shared it?

00:12:01 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 1:

It feels so much better, and I have, like, a huge amount of support around me, including you guys and my family and my friends, and it's been pretty comforting because it's like there's so many people that care about you. You don't have to focus on the one who doesn't.

00:12:15 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 6:

You know what's wild? Listeners were saying last week when they were calling you that you sounded off.

00:12:20 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:12:20 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 6:

And that's just from them talking to you on hold.

00:12:23 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, and that's what would make me cry behind phones is when they could see that I couldn't put on a smile for them because that's my biggest goal and that's what I pray for every day is to make everyone's day that I talk to, at least in a positive impact, and I couldn't do it that well last week.

00:12:37 - 00:12:46 | Speaker 6:

Ellie, what's up? It's Mojo in the Morning. Lydia just admitted something very hard for her to do, but she did an amazing job doing it. What do you want to say about this?

00:12:47 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 3:

Hey, Lydia, I don't want to take away from the fact that you're incredibly strong to even you know come on and share all of this so that i mean to you honestly to even share it i give you mad props seriously um but one thing i did want to say though is that i think experience has shown everybody that men typically know fairly quickly you know if they want to marry a woman or not and i think they they let that be known so if they don't you know if i think you're very smart in how you you know went about it with what happened because i think men again i think they just know very quickly and they they will definitely let that be known so if he if he was if he said what he said about the opposite or if he just hasn't let on about marriage or you know you being the one then you're definitely doing the right thing and i don't think you should

00:13:34 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 6:

revisit it i'm telling you i give him a lot of credit because i know a lot of guys that don't let you know and then they just they like the comfort of having somebody there and then they

00:13:43 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 7:

have another 12 other people with them too but i mean the actions speak louder than the words will So just when they show you, you got to believe them and not try to make excuses for their behavior. Yeah. That's what man is.

00:13:56 - 00:14:04 | Speaker 3:

Exactly. Yep. So kudos to him, too, as well, because he was definitely honest. And men will do that. Who do do that? You have to respect that.

00:14:04 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 6:

Yep. Thank you for the call. Brian, what's up? It's Mojo in the Morning.

00:14:09 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 4:

How are you doing today?

00:14:10 - 00:14:11 | Speaker 6:

What's going on?

00:14:11 - 00:14:52 | Speaker 4:

I just, I think she's, I think he's disrespecting her by keeping, keep doing this to her. I mean, five times, you gotta, you gotta start taking and looking at the way he's treating you by his actions. And he's, you're allowing him to do this by coming back to him every time he does this to you. So you've got to respect yourself enough now to move past it and find somebody who's actually going to back his words up and be there for you. Not keep on leaving and coming back and leaving and coming back. It's not fair to you. It's not fair to your heart.

00:14:52 - 00:14:52 | Speaker 1:

It's not at all.

00:14:54 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, and you know what? We're going to find that person for her this Friday at our Mojo.

00:15:00 - 00:15:05 | Speaker 3:

We're doing the morning booze and baddies party that we're having, our Halloween party.

00:15:05 - 00:15:06 | Speaker 11:

What are you going to be dressed in?

00:15:06 - 00:15:18 | Speaker 3:

I'm bringing more Chaldean. You should see all the Chaldean buddies of mine. For real. I got them coming. I got the boys from the golf course. You got a buffet for you. I do. Jake and Noble showing up on Friday. Shout out Jake. Shout out Noble.

00:15:18 - 00:15:19 | Speaker 9:

What is wrong with you?

00:15:20 - 00:15:21 | Speaker 3:

They're coming out to hang out.

00:15:21 - 00:15:22 | Speaker 9:

He did tell me to move on.

00:15:22 - 00:15:46 | Speaker 3:

That's right. We're moving you on. Now. We're moving you on. It's going to be fun. And Lydia, I'm proud of you, but I am also proud of him. I know it sounds weird to say this because I did not expect that of this man. So I say to you, man, who I do not like Lydia hanging out with because you hurt her very much.

00:15:48 - 00:15:51 | Speaker 2:

You've fucking lost your mind.

00:15:51 - 00:16:01 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. I say to you that I'm proud of you for being grown up about this because you had a vulnerable Lydia that you could have taken advantage of. I disagree with you. You know? I'm not proud of you.

00:16:01 - 00:16:23 | Speaker 11:

Yeah, same. I'm really angry you said that. Why? Because I think if you, I wish I could cuss. Same. I think if you see a piece of spit sitting in the toilet and it keeps telling you it's a piece of spit, you don't need them to tell you it. You can see it in the toilet. So for him to have done this five or six times and like, I'm telling you, this isn't the first time he's apologized and said this before. Am I right?

00:16:23 - 00:16:23 | Speaker 9:

Yes.

00:16:24 - 00:16:25 | Speaker 11:

Okay, so why are we applauding his effort?

00:16:25 - 00:16:29 | Speaker 3:

But he could have shown up at a hotel and had a great weekend.

00:16:29 - 00:16:29 | Speaker 11:

They ain't done it before.

00:16:30 - 00:16:34 | Speaker 3:

Well, but he could have done that. No, she wasn't about to smash him. No, I know, but I'm saying that he could have done that.

00:16:34 - 00:16:40 | Speaker 11:

I don't respect him. He's still a piece of dump. He's going to continue to be that. He shouldn't be applauded for that.

00:16:40 - 00:16:47 | Speaker 9:

That's someone I loved, so that's why I kept going back. And I guess I just have to move forward. Yes. So, moving on.

00:16:47 - 00:16:53 | Speaker 3:

to noble and to jake jake put your hands together everybody grab hands

00:16:53 - 00:17:00 | Speaker 7:

no it's so hot everybody grab hands if you love lydia you'll do it all right here we go

00:17:00 - 00:17:14 | Speaker 2:

00:17:16 - 00:17:18 | Speaker 3:

Amen. Alright, we love you, Lydia.

00:17:18 - 00:17:19 | Speaker 2:

Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

00:17:20 - 00:17:20 | Speaker 3:

We love you.

00:17:20 - 00:17:27 | Speaker 6:

Our lovely Lydia, she's the angel of the show. But every now and then, a chick's got to shake some brazy ass, right?

00:17:27 - 00:17:29 | Speaker 9:

Yes, I'm shaking some brazy ass.

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.
