Mojo in the morning. This afternoon, I will be hanging out at the Planet Fitness in Canton, just off of Ford Road, and I would love to meet you between 5 and 7. We're going to have a ton of prizes to give away, and we're going to be raising money for Make-A-Wish and our Walk for Wishes that's going on. Walk for Wishes, which is Planet Fitness' amazing charity to raise money for the kids in our area, in our listening areas, to be able to have a wish granted by Make-A-Wish. In studio with us this morning, one of our favorite human beings in the world from Planet Fitness, Brian Reif. Brian is like the greatest human being in the world. No, but what a beautiful thing to do. But here's the reason why. In studio with us this morning are Holly and Abe, and they brought with them Adam, their youngest, and then Elise, their beautiful daughter. And Abe, what's happening? Dad, how are you? Good. How are you, Mojo? Good, man. I look at you and your beautiful family. First off, you've got just the gorgeous children, but you have a beautiful wife and stuff. And I think of how your life changed just a couple of years ago with that sweetie that you have on your lap there. Elise, will you tell everybody that? Oh, Elise wants to tell. Do you want to tell everybody that?

Hi, Elise.

Elise, how are you doing? How are you feeling, Elise?

Good.

Yeah? I understand that you had some doctor's visits from time to time. Is that true?

Yeah.

Yeah? Did the doctors and nurses take care of you?

Yeah.

And do you feel so brave when you go see those doctors?

Yeah.

Yeah. Good for you. Abe, tell us about Elise and what she went through.

Elise had a womb's tumor. She got diagnosed last year in April. A year ago. Yes, a year ago in April. Our life completely changed overnight. It was really, really shocked for us. We had no idea. We were on vacation in Florida like three or four days before, and her stomach was kind of a little bloated. and we thought it was just the normal kids not using the restroom or anything. And came back home, took her to the doctors, straight to the emergency room. She got diagnosed right there. She had a willem's tumor, which is on the kidneys, both of them.

Yeah.

It was a really, really hard experience.

Mom, how are you with all that? Holly, how are you when that happened?

that had to just devastate you yeah there's no words for it you just you just never expect it yeah but it's you know after you get over the initial reaction you just full power mode yeah adrenaline just let's get through this let's keep it positive and how old is elise she's five

she was four and a half four and a half years old and you learn quickly that a four and a half year old is pretty darn tough right pretty darn brave even know what was going on or why things were

happening and i mean you know i did tell her but yeah you know they just are happy and they're just you know everybody kept her happy around us so many organizations and foundations yeah just

worked really hard on that abe tell everybody about what make a wish um has done for you guys

as a family make a wish uh made our life after at least had after at least had the surgery she was granted a trip to Disney World.

Elise, Disney World. Who's your favorite Disney princess besides Megan from our show? Ariel. Ariel, yeah.

Good choice. They granted you guys this wish? They granted us the wish and it was just the most amazing thing our family ever experienced. It was great. We got treated like royalty. we were staying at a village specifically for kids that they're going through stuff. Wow. And all the passes, all the parks, any kid can wish for it. Any person can wish for it. And that made her really, really happy.

Yeah, you were pretty happy, huh? Did you get to have Mickey ears and all the rest of that stuff? Yes. Yeah, pretty good. What was your favorite part of going to Disney World? What did you like the most, Elise? Um, roller coasters. Oh, you got to go on roller coasters? Oh, my God. And was this, wait, was this after treatments that she was able to? Yeah. Yeah. So she gets, so she goes through her treatments. How long were treatments, Abe?

It was about a year altogether. About a year of this.

And so you guys just recently went on this trip.

Yes, we just went in February.

And Make-A-Wish does a great job. And let me say this to you. Make-A-Wish is obviously known. People know Make-A-Wish. I did not know this. how many wishes right now are not granted yet because they're hoping to be able to get some money and raise some more money. Brian, what is that? How many percentage of it? I saw a number recently. Percentage of wish? Yeah, like how many wishes are waiting to be granted right now? It's

like hundreds, right? There's hundreds, yeah. Yeah, that's amazing. Yeah, which reinforces why

events like Walk for Wishes are that important. Absolutely. How much money in years past has Planet Fitness been able to garner up here in the area?

So we have raised over half a million

dollars. That's unbelievable. That's great. That's awesome. How is by the way Adam doing over there? I see Adam. Adam are you having a smoothie right there? What kind of smoothie did Adam get from the smoothie king? He's loving it.

He literally has not stopped.

How great is that? You guys are awesome. You guys are great Brian. I'm going to be out today from 5 till 7 with Dr. Darius And then tomorrow, J Towers is going to be out. Actually, at one of your locations, J Towers and Trudy from our sister stations are going to be out. Where are they going to be? At our Warren 12-mile location. We were a mess for a good while, but, you know, we have other kids at home, and you have to be strong for them.

What were the hardest moments for you?

Telling our other kids, you know, them being scared, having to tell Elise, which they have really, really good child care specialists at the hospital at U of M. They helped us talk to her and make it so she understood, and the doctors were just always so positive, and that's what kept us going through it all.

Yeah.

I think Adam's drinking that smoothie too fast. He's going to get a brain freeze. It's going to happen. It's basically brain freezing over there. It's good, isn't it? Abe, you have a gorgeous family.
