This is Mojo in the Morning.

00:01:49 - 00:02:05 | Speaker 6:

All right, it is Mojo in the Morning. You know what we need help with right now? We need help from Megan because Megan's got a legal issue going on. Megan, you got nabbed by, was it one of those police camera things? What?

00:02:06 - 00:02:46 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. So you know how like cop cars all have scanners on them, cameras, and they tell you when to pull people over based on like if their license is suspended or if they don't have car insurance or if their tags are expired. and the other day I was actually driving through Corktown Jesus Christ I kept wanting to say Royal Oak you ever get the wrong word in your head over and over again and your brain is stuttering like that's not right that's not right so Corktown is where I was driving through I was heading back to Toledo and fastest way for me to do that is driving through there but to get on over by Rosa Parks y'all know what I'm talking about painting the picture guys painting it in too much detail got it alright so driving that way got stuck behind one of those cars

00:02:46 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 6:

by the way you're part of our air check session we're having at the end of the show today with dennis clark at least i was able to call myself out we are all we are all add with our

00:02:54 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 2:

storytelling today go ahead so i'm driving and i'm behind one of those cars that's like a google maps car like it's got the cameras on top of it yeah you know how they're like making the satellite maps and so this car is going i swear to god three miles an hour i'm losing my mind i am absolutely losing my mind and i'm pulling out of this uh from behind it like you know how you're doing that i can't wait to get around this car i'm gonna speed off it's gonna be great and as soon as I get around this car, I see the lights behind me go off and I get pulled over. And in my mind, I'm like, excuse me, officer. I'm not the one who was backing up traffic. You got the wrong guy. You were supposed to get the one with giant camera in front of me. You missed him. Pulls me over and I'm like, you ever get pulled over with such confidence? Like, I know this isn't the one time I was speeding and I was wearing my seatbelt and like I wasn't on my phone. Like I got pulled over with such confidence until this man yeah i'm sorry i'm confused by your story

00:03:53 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 6:

i'm stopping for one second you got pulled over by a cop and they pulled over the wrong person no because i'm still stuck on the fact that you didn't know it was cork down or a royal oak what

00:04:06 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

what did what did you have what happened okay so long story short was driving behind one of those camera cars, got pulled over, had confidence that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Cop walks up to my car window and goes, Hey, your tags have been expired for like a really long job. So in Ohio, you can get multi-year tags, which is what I assumed that I did here. And for some reason, because it wasn't my birthday when I got new tags, you can only get multi-year tags in Michigan when it's your birthday. In Ohio, they'll be like, we can pay up till your birthday and do a year from then so i just assumed that i had done that and i didn't so i i looked at this cop i my life was like a wreck i didn't expect this i couldn't find my registration in the glove box and my insurance i didn't have a copy of it thank god i could download the app on my phone but it just felt like everything was going wrong in this traffic stop and i was losing my mind did you

00:04:59 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

Were you speeding?

00:05:00 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 5:

or something because of can they they can't pull you over just for tags can they i think they can

00:05:04 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 3:

can't they yeah they absolutely did so the guy uh told me that in the state of michigan when your tags are expired i have to go to court over this shut up now in case like for full context here i went to like this happened on friday and like i said i was having or heading to toledo so i was in ohio all weekend and i fixed my tags yesterday so this happened on friday and on monday i fixed

00:05:31 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 2:

everything but i like have to go to court and defend this i thought they gave you just like a warning like hey come back in and show what i feel like this has happened to me and i had to go back into the police station and just showed them that i paid to know yeah get my updated

00:05:44 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 3:

no that's not what they'll always do because i have a court date well i think that you uh i think

00:05:51 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 5:

you call the number and then when you call the number they'll say they'll make you show proof of

00:05:56 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 3:

that you have tags officer said i had to go to court you probably that is no no no no that's

00:06:01 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 4:

that's a waste of time no no but i think you everybody i think they have to do that but if you do bring your receipt the judge will show leniency and say oh you did it like waive the

00:06:11 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 5:

case here first off i can't believe that you got pulled over in detroit for anything i i god i I don't think I've stopped at a red light in Detroit, and I don't know how long. Do they pull people over in Detroit?

00:06:22 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 4:

Sometimes. I feel like they really mean it.

00:06:26 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 5:

I didn't know there was traffic cops there.

00:06:27 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 4:

You really got to be doing something crazy. LaVon, you're the people that get me, though.

00:06:31 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. But I don't know. Go back to the whole thing. You said that the other car was the one that was doing something wrong, and you were the one that got pulled over. So they pull over the wrong car?

00:06:42 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 2:

No, she's saying the other car should have gotten pulled over for backing up traffic so much.

00:06:47 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 4:

It was like one of them new technical cars with the cameras on it.

00:06:51 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 3:

So from the top, what happened was I was driving in Corktown.

00:06:56 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 4:

Are we sure?

00:06:57 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 3:

I mean, he keeps asking questions.

00:06:59 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 5:

No, well, you confused the spit out of me with this story. I'm like sitting there going, what in the hell is she talking about here? But, okay, so we're trying to help you figure out if you have to go to court for the fact that you didn't pay your tags, which, by the way, I pay my tags every single week.

00:07:15 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 3:

We're not trying to figure it out. I got the date. I got the time. It's happening.

00:07:18 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 5:

Okay. Well, I think this is easy. This is much easier than if you got pulled up. First off, we call that the advertiser, guys, those TicketFixPro.com guys. Here we go. And have those guys figure it out for you. You should.

00:07:30 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 3:

I don't trust him to make this connection at this point with how many times I've had to reiterate this story.

00:07:36 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 5:

They will hang up in about five seconds, though, if you tell the story the way you just told it. They're going to be like, I can't understand a word she's saying. But I think tags are easy. You didn't do anything other than tags. I'm shocked that they actually wrote a ticket for that. Are there any cops listening?

00:07:52 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 2:

Am I in the Twilight Zone?

00:07:56 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 5:

Cav, what? No, you got me in the Twilight Zone with how you told that story. But where's Cav's friend from school?

00:08:04 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 4:

Officer, I don't know if she'd like me to say her name. Her name's Tasha.

00:08:08 - 00:08:09 | Speaker 5:

She's great. We love her.

00:08:09 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 4:

Look, this happened to me. I was on a tag strike after COVID. I was like, man, they ain't pulling nobody over. I was riding no tags for like three years, bro. Like three years. Because I'm like, man, they're not pulling nobody over. Who cares, bro? So I was riding dirty for like three years, and I got pulled over, and the lady came, and my thought was just, oh, like I was going to play. Obviously, I'm not a dumb blonde, but I was going to play dumb. I was going to be like, oh, my God. Like, oh, I thought I did it last year. You know, COVID, everything's like five years faster. Thought I was going to pull one of them moves. It was like, no, bro. Here's your ticket. Get your tags. And maybe they'll show leniency on you. And they did.

00:08:47 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 5:

Do they make you pay for the years that you missed, Kev?

00:08:50 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. I had to go get, like, back tags.

00:08:53 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 3:

Ask me how much it costs. How much? Oh, how much? $160. Oh, that's average. I was going to say, I feel like that's very normal. That's normal for Michigan tags? That's very normal. I just know everybody in Ohio's brain just exploded that that is the normal price. I think the most I've ever paid for tags was like $80.

00:09:14 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 5:

Wow. Well, they do things different there, too.

00:09:16 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 3:

And I'm pretty sure I paid like $30.

00:09:17 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 5:

They don't have the same insurance that we have, too, right?

00:09:19 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my insurance tripled when I moved here. And that is not an exaggeration. To the dollar, tripled moving to Michigan.

00:09:27 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 5:

What's up, Justin? Hi, it's Mojo in the morning.

00:09:29 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh. megan i just had that happen to me last friday i was coming off of the expressway and i don't know i was heading on the expressway and i got flicked and the cop pulls me over for because i guess i forgot to turn uh turn my turn signal on or whatever and he tells me my tags are expired i'm thinking like i got the car from the guy he told me i had two year tags okay i didn't realize it had been two years already and i ran to a

00:10:00 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 4:

meyer kiosk i had to go grocery shopping anyway so i ran to the kiosk so fast to get my tags so i didn't get pulled over again

00:10:08 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 1:

when you buy a car from somebody you can transfer the tags with the car

00:10:13 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 4:

well i had my own plate it was my plate so okay i didn't but i didn't but it was the the tags were new because he did my he did my registration and and transfer of ownership and all that all in one shot that was the first time i ever you can go to a mire to renew i don't feel i feel like you guys can't but i also i'm curious but it's a secretary of state kiosk yeah they

00:10:39 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 1:

have a social those kiosks by the way are the greatest thing ever because the secretary of states are like the worst to go to um the uh the play they're going into the talk to a person in And they make you make appointments now since COVID, which sucks. You can't just walk in there out of the blue. What's up, John?

00:11:00 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 2:

Hey, my wife had the exact same thing happen. She even had the good registration. She just forgot to put the sticker on. And so it was just like she was talking, a full-blown court case. They made her come in. And the guy was like, well, did you take a picture of your plate? And she says, yeah. And he comes back and he said, this is nobody. He came back and he said, no, you're on the docket. You're going to have to sit here and wait. And then he had to wait and go before the judge.

00:11:27 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 3:

What a waste of time for everybody, for your wife, for the judge, for everybody, when she already did it and she could just submit the photo and be done with it. Or go to the police station and show it. That's what I'm saying. That's silly. That needs to change.

00:11:42 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 1:

What's up, Erin? Hi, it's Mojo in the morning.

00:11:45 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 6:

Hi. Okay. Okay, so first off, Mojo, are you messing with Megan when you made her repeat, tried to repeat that story like three times? No. Are you messing with her?

00:11:55 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 1:

I'm not messing with her. She got me confused with whether she was driving through Corktown or Royal Oak, but what's your comment? Go ahead.

00:12:01 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 6:

It was so not confusing at all, and I'm like, he's seriously just messing with her because it was very clear that she was just like, you know, why am I getting pulled over? When this guy was going three miles per hour, I'm already frustrated. I know I'm good to go. I feel like I'm reliving Megan's

00:12:19 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 1:

story through you. Do you have a comment? How can she get out of her tags? Girl, hang up.

00:12:24 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 6:

I was listening.

00:12:27 - 00:12:32 | Speaker 1:

What can she do? Can you help her with her tags? Thank you for the call.

00:12:32 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 6:

I can't help her, but I will admit that the situation's a little dumb. It's ridiculous. She's got to go to court. And then I will also agree that I love the kiosk at Meijer. I always go. Always go.

00:12:44 - 00:12:47 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's so much better. So much better that they have.

00:12:47 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 6:

And I'm really mad that Ohio has such cheap plates. Oh, that's insane. How do we not know about this? It's insane.

00:12:52 - 00:13:05 | Speaker 1:

Well, we need to see if we can become Ohio. Like, why is it that our politicians in Michigan get away with bad insurance and overcharging us? What's going on, Dawn?

00:13:06 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 7:

Hey, how you doing? First time, long time. Hey there, Dawn. It's on the phone. Hey, Megan. It happened to me on Christmas Day. I was driving a vehicle that I don't normally drive. Cab was expired in July, so six months later. He gave me a ticket on Christmas Day, but I went and renewed it online right away, Christmas Day. And I had to call a phone number on the ticket, made an appointment with the magistrate. I did an online court thing, and they dismissed it. okay that makes me feel a lot better but i feel like christmas is the one day a year we're like we don't follow traffic infractions yeah like why are they giving tickets on christmas

00:13:52 - 00:13:56 | Speaker 1:

day that's like that's somebody that's pissed that they have to work on christmas day uh what's

00:13:56 - 00:14:39 | Speaker 5:

up ashley hi there hi so i was riding in westland with my cousin who actually had warrants and um I'm confident, I'm driving, I'm doing the speed limit, and I get pulled over, and I'm, you know, I'm not speeding, I ask him what I was doing wrong, and he's like, you know, you, your tests aren't renewed. So I, I was like, no, there's no way. I pulled out of my glove department the receipt with the sticker, it comes on the little form, and he ended up letting us go, he didn't even question who my cousin was or anything, he let us go, and that was it.

00:14:39 - 00:14:45 | Speaker 1:

You were sitting there sweating the entire time thinking your cousin's going to jail and it's going to cost you some time.

00:14:46 - 00:14:48 | Speaker 5:

Right. No, my cousin more than me, but yeah.

00:14:48 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:14:49 - 00:14:53 | Speaker 5:

What does Jeff Lawrence out for? Now I'm very curious about that.

00:14:53 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, give us a deal. Probably just driving stuff. Oh, okay. Okay. Driving nothing serious.

00:15:00 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 5:

But, yeah, he was like, I'm going to jail for sure.

00:15:03 - 00:15:06 | Speaker 7:

By the way, if I know my cousin's got warrants, I ain't driving them.

00:15:06 - 00:15:07 | Speaker 5:

Absolutely not.

00:15:07 - 00:15:10 | Speaker 7:

I don't have time for that. What's going on, Misfit Victor? Hello.

00:15:10 - 00:15:20 | Speaker 3:

Hey, Victor. Hey. Good morning, guys. Megan, did you by any chance explain to him that you have a serve-safe food certificate that's not expired?

00:15:20 - 00:15:23 | Speaker 5:

My God. So funny, Victor.

00:15:23 - 00:15:30 | Speaker 3:

I do have some bad news for you, though. that story took so long your plates have expired again.

00:15:34 - 00:16:24 | Speaker 7:

Victor, stop it. By the way, the guys texted me and said that they would help you, Megan, with this. Ticketfixpro.com I know they're not advertising anymore with us. They canceled their advertising with us. Maybe they'll come back. Maybe Megan And they'll come back because of this, and they'll start advertising again to help out with this stuff. I have to tell you, I would like to find a service. This would be my service. I would like to find a service like you do Uber and all the rest of that stuff that will just go and do the crap that takes you extra time, like go to court. Like, can we have somebody go to court? Have, like, a stand-in. No, get one of those Tesla robots. That would be cool. Like, if you could pay for that, like, I'd take that over a sex doll. You know what I mean? Hey, wait a minute.

00:16:24 - 00:16:31 | Speaker 5:

Who could get me, or who could get me, get moms and dads a good place in the car pickup line at school. It's a thing. Wouldn't that be the greatest? It is 40 minutes of my day.

00:16:31 - 00:16:32 | Speaker 7:

Have somebody hold the line for you.

00:16:33 - 00:16:33 | Speaker 5:

I'm not kidding.

00:16:33 - 00:16:54 | Speaker 7:

That might be a topic. Like, if you could have a robot do something for you just to cut the time. Like, we've already figured out how to get groceries and food and everything delivered to us, like, in a second. Or have something from Amazon delivered in a second. I'd like to have that. Somebody that can, you know, deal with my kids being a pain in the ass at night when they're trying to go to bed. How many moms do you think would take care of that? Put your kids to bed at night.
