All right, it is Mojo in the Morning Show. Today is tax day. Is there anybody that hasn't done their taxes yet? You haven't? Not yet? Bruh. Really?

00:01:41 - 00:02:00 | Speaker 4:

Bruh. Let me tell you, I don't get it. I don't understand it. Taxes are an absolute joke anyways. Not that I'm against paying. I'm very pro-taxes. But you're going to sit here and tell me the government doesn't know how much I have paid, how much I owe them, and if I owe them more. The fact that we have to file is milarkey. It's so stupid.

00:02:00 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 6:

It should just be a flat thing. Just do it.

00:02:03 - 00:02:16 | Speaker 4:

You know. And I know you know, because if I do it wrong, you're going to tell me I did it wrong. You know. You know. Stop making me do this. I'm stressed out. I'm fragile. And I want to keep huffing rubber cement. Stop doing it.

00:02:16 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 6:

One in three people will not do their taxes and haven't done their taxes yet. And today's the day that you got to turn them in. And I will say this to you. To me, it's something still that, as a grown-ass man, that I always say, I pay my taxes. Well, literally, I have no idea how to do them. I have no clue.

00:02:34 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 4:

I did my federal and state, because if I can do that online by clicking a few buttons and just scrolling through, I'm going to do it. But where I had an issue was my local taxes, and I live in the city of Detroit now. And ask me how many forms I had to fill out for my taxes.

00:02:50 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 6:

How many forms?

00:02:51 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 4:

Four forms. Four forms that I had to fill out. Just for the city? Line by line. Just for the city. I still have to print them out and now mail them today. And if you're wondering, do I owe or do I got a return? I paid exactly the right amount. I'm $1.50 off from the tax. I overpaid by $1.50.

00:03:10 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 6:

Do they send you a check for $1.50?

00:03:12 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 3:

No, they go, you're good.

00:03:14 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 6:

We'll keep it.

00:03:14 - 00:03:19 | Speaker 3:

I'd want my $1.50. If I would, that's a, well, it's like half a coffee, you know.

00:03:19 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 4:

So I, last night, had a full mental breakdown doing my taxes. had to FaceTime my dad on my laptop, share my screen with him and have him walk me through the process. And I just kept going, I'm going to file an extension. F this. I hate, I don't know what's happening. I hate this. I'm just going to, and he's like, we're going to get through it. This poor man got yelled at me or by me 17 times last night as he's trying to walk me through this. He's being so helpful. I'm at the end of my rope. I cannot do it. But I'm curious. I just wanted to file an extension and say, what is the point? I already paid it. They don't owe me anything. I don't owe them anything. Why is this happening?

00:03:56 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 6:

So here's the thing. If I just did a statistic that said, and this is actually really interesting. Lauren just texted us in, 734. She said, statistics said one in three, and Megan is the one who hasn't done it. LOL. Which, by the way, it's interesting because you think about that. You got one in three people doing it. You know that there's some people that you know that haven't done their taxes yet.

00:04:15 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 3:

I had to drop off a return at the post office yesterday, which is very easy because it's prepaid. You know, I just go drop it in the bin or whatever. I had to, I was like, what the heck is going on? I had to wait in line to turn onto the road with the post office, then wait in line to turn into the post office parking lot, then wait outside to even get in through the door, even though I didn't need any of the services. I just needed to drop this thing. And then I realized it was everybody there. Doing their taxes? Doing their taxes.

00:04:41 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 6:

Wow, day before. It's so funny because I think people would e-file, but you know what? I don't want them having my money that soon. What's going on, Jeremy? Hi. How you doing? Good. What's happening?

00:04:52 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 1:

I file taxes every other year.

00:04:55 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 6:

Real? How do you get away with filing taxes every other year?

00:04:58 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

Because I got...

00:05:00 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 2:

joint custody of my children, so I file every other year, so that way I don't gotta pay, because if I filed this year, I owe them like $1,500 or something like that.

00:05:08 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 1:

I always wonder, these people that don't ever file taxes every year, I wonder how they get away with stuff like that. Is that how it works

00:05:14 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 2:

or no? You still have to file for yourself. I know I got one buddy who's 1099 and he does lift, and he's been doing it for 10 years and never filed a tax form, ever.

00:05:22 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 1:

Those guys are the greatest. My favorite is, I have a buddy named Jeff, and I shouldn't say where he lives, but Atlanta, Georgia. And Jeff in Atlanta, Georgia hasn't paid taxes in more than a decade. And I keep telling him, don't look out your window because they're probably sitting out there.

00:05:35 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 3:

Wait, the Jeff I know, Jeff? Oh, yeah. Are you kidding me? More than a decade. Ten years.

00:05:38 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 1:

Has never passed in ten years. Never, you know, paid his taxes. Honestly, I don't have enough, like, courage to do something like that. Balls. Balls to do something like that. Maybe towards the end of my life that will be like my thing. I will go, ah, screw it. What's up, Paige?

00:05:52 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 6:

um my comment is that megan they want you to do the taxes and they want you to be late because they want the penalty fees they want all the extra money that you get you know what i never

00:06:04 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 1:

knew page if you file an extension that you actually have to be paid up in time like i always thought i thought you got the extension and they gave you that grace period till october but i never knew if you owe money you got to pay it right away like you can't just you gotta have on april 15th yeah so april 15th you have to have your money in by hold on a second your tax man is on the phone with us megan scott mick is on the phone oh you poor poor man scott is on scott's uh megan's dad but also the show dad because he's going to help anybody that hasn't

00:06:35 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 4:

done their taxes yet scott hi oh no no lindy already warned me the irs is listening so i think nobody is paying enough taxes everybody should have them turned in the guy who said he pays every other year i think we should find him i think that is wrong that is wrong scott mick

00:06:54 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 3:

how many forms did we thought like fill out i i haven't i i grew up in detroit but i haven't

00:07:03 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 4:

lived in detroit in many years i had no idea it was that complicated to do taxes and the really amazing part was so you fill out all these forms and the line on your w-2 and the line you end up with our identical amounts. But you can't use the W-2.

00:07:20 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 3:

I don't understand.

00:07:21 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 4:

You can't use the W-2 because the W-2 isn't pretty enough and it doesn't have different colors on it.

00:07:29 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 3:

You needed the W-5.

00:07:30 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 1:

And, Scott, they wonder why in Detroit people don't pay their taxes because they don't want to do it because it's too hard.

00:07:38 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 4:

It was surprisingly complicated. I live in Ohio, and you guys are nuts. Just move south. Move south is way easier.

00:07:46 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's not. Hold on. Hold on. Maggie, you're on with us here and we got Scott Mick on the phone.

00:07:54 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 5:

What's going on, Maggie? Good morning, guys. How are you? Good morning. Good. What's happening? So, Megan, what you have to watch out for is my daughter lives out in Canton Westland area, but she works in Detroit. So she not only gets hit with her regular taxes, but she also gets hit with Detroit taxes.

00:08:15 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 3:

Yes, which is the, that's why I had to fill out four tech sheets and the whole time it just kept saying over and over again, you cannot use your W-2, do not use your W-2, fill out all of these things instead of a W-2 and then all of it was the exact same as my W-2. I almost whipped my computer across the room. My dad offered last night to drive up to Detroit to help me with this because he thought I was going to punch a hole in my wall.

00:08:44 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 1:

You're an angel, Scott. You are an angel. Hold on a second.

00:08:47 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 3:

Can you use your W-2?

00:08:50 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 1:

Can you write that computer that you whipped across the room? Hold on real quick. Olivia, we're going to all boo Olivia. Olivia, are you there?

00:08:59 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 7:

I'm here.

00:09:00 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 1:

Tell everybody about you being a do-gooder.

00:09:05 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 7:

Well, you know why? Because now I got a dependent. So I'm like, okay, January 1st, where is my W-2? Because now I get money back. But before, when I worked at restaurants, with no people, it was like, oh, I don't know. She files her taxes.

00:09:18 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 1:

When did you file your taxes?

00:09:21 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 7:

Like, February 1st.

00:09:22 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God. She's already bought a couch from Gardner White with her money. Right?

00:09:31 - 00:09:40 | Speaker 7:

You know, the money's already spent, the freaking tip club, and God knows whatever, for six great things that's going on. It just kind of makes me feel better to get a little bit back.

00:09:40 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 1:

I always love the people that file their taxes right away. You know they're getting money back, and you know that they use their taxes as their savings account. That's their thing. Scott, well, the IRS is on the other line, and they say you are a great American, Scott.

00:09:57 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 4:

Thanks, Dan. I love those guys. I love those guys.

00:10:00 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 3:

those guys that's my middle name irs by the way you love those guys until you get that letter from them saying hey can we talk to you guys about 2023 you know hey sorry i yelled at you

00:10:11 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 1:

last night i love you you wait he's helping you you yelled at him multiple times if i were you

00:10:17 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 3:

i would have just hung up the phone when my kids call me scott and they yell at me when i'm there

00:10:21 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 1:

i'm trying they want my help oh click i know i honestly the next time he asked for tech help I can't yell at him. I'm so sorry.

00:10:30 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my gosh.

00:10:30 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 2:
