We've all seen the headlines. Florida man wrestles alligator in a tuxedo or Florida man sues after finding toenails in his ice cream.

00:01:39 - 00:01:43 | Speaker 10:

It's easy to laugh at the meme, but have you ever wondered about the human behind the headline?

00:01:44 - 00:01:45 | Speaker 6:

Hey, I'm Frankie P.

00:01:45 - 00:01:50 | Speaker 10:

And I'm Amelia. On our podcast Hidden Florida and Beyond, we're going beneath the surface of the Sunshine State.

00:01:50 - 00:01:56 | Speaker 7:

From interviews with real people who make Florida weird. I'm pulling it up, and as I'm pulling it up, I see an arm.

00:01:57 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 6:

Stop it.

00:01:58 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 7:

Come down.

00:01:58 - 00:02:06 | Speaker 10:

to deep dives into the stories you didn't know you were looking for. Hey, give it up for Mark Wahlberg on the podcast today. It's more than just a meme, it's a lifestyle.

Listen to Hidden Florida and Beyond on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:02:11 - 00:02:14 | Speaker 10:

Hidden Florida and Beyond with Mark Wahlberg, May 21st.

00:02:16 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 4:

All right, it is mojo in the morning. We have had so much action in our studio these last few days, not just with the guests that have come, but literally there's what a group of five, five to six engineers from out of town that are here working, which is funny because I have not heard from the girls on the show, meaning the single girls like Megan and KP and Lydia, but a couple of these guys are good looking guys. And I know the last time that we had a couple of really good looking guys come in studio, they were clients. and I was told that I C-blocked Megan or P-blocked Megan. You did.

00:03:01 - 00:03:03 | Speaker 3:

You did. You absolutely did.

00:03:04 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 4:

And I don't know if you've noticed this, but any time that the younger engineers, the guys from Montana are around, I don't even talk because I don't even want it to be. I don't even ask them if there's something wrong with equipment or not. But the reason I don't is because I'm worried that something is going on, you know, that something is you guys are flirting or something.

00:03:23 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 3:

is it true are you flirting with these guys oh i absolutely am with one in particular and i okay i think i may have offended him i feel really bad i thought i was being very demure very cutesy and i said to one of the engineers while he was working he was in the middle of a big project i was like oh my god because i've never been dramatic in my whole life it was kind of quiet in here. I was like, oh my god, I know exactly who you look like. What celebrity do people tell you you look like? He's like, I don't know. Nobody tells me I look like anybody. You look exactly like Taron Egerton. Now, if that name does not ring a bell, you know him from The Kingsman. He played Elton John in Rocketman. He looks Shannon. He was in The Kingsman. He looks just like him. He was like, who's that? And I flip my phone around and I show him and he goes, okay and i immediately went oh no oh no i think i've offended him because i don't know if he finds this guy attractive and i might have just accidentally insulted him but it truly it was

00:04:31 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 4:

meant to be like yeah i don't think he knew who the guy was he's not a name i think he had to go

00:04:37 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 9:

to like the googles and go figure it out right and i also think that he was trying to decide If you meant it as a compliment, like you were being flirty or if you meant it as just like, oh, has anybody ever told you you look like this rando actor?

00:04:54 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 3:

Right. I think he was just like, what are you? I'm working. I thought to get to a point where. I need to detach what I think the person looks like and their attractive level and not put that on what you may think that person looks like. Because you may think this Taron guy is amazing and he may think he's ugly. So when you say I look like the ugly guy, I think you think I'm ugly, but you may think the guy's ugly. No, I think he's very hot. It was meant as like a huge compliment. I remember the first time somebody told me I look like Anthony Anderson. I was like, bitch. You don't think Anthony Anderson's cute? I mean, it wouldn't be the person that I'm like, okay, thank you. I think he's really hot, but your eyes said disrespect. Come on, bro.

00:05:36 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 4:

I have been told from time to time that I am a dead ringer for Rosie O'Donnell. And I don't know what she looks like. It's the eyebrows. If you guys could tell me, is that a compliment or not a compliment? I don't know.

00:05:51 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 3:

Powerful. Yeah. Yes. Very funny. Yeah. Great personality. Oh, really? A great head of hair.

00:05:58 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. I don't like when people go, you know who you look like? And then they tell me, and I'm like, I have no idea who you're talking about. Because then right away, I instantly think the worst before I think the best.

00:06:09 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 2:

I have to brace myself when somebody says that to me. Because I'm like, it's either going to be really good, I'm going to be excited, or it's going to be really, really bad.

00:06:15 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 3:

That moment between the, you know who you look like? And when it actually says it? You take a deep breath. Oh, my God. It's like when you're going on a roller coaster before you drop.

00:06:21 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 2:

But then how do you clarify that without coming off like more of a creep? Because what I could have said in that situation is, no, no, no, I think you're really hot. and now he's already uncomfortable and I'm making it worse.

00:06:30 - 00:06:37 | Speaker 4:

All right, here's my question I want to ask. Give me a, where's the engineer at? Is he here or did he leave and go back to Montana?

00:06:38 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's in the back.

00:06:38 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 4:

All right, get me the picture of him and then get me the picture of the others and I want to know if there is a close resemblance. First off, is that our engineer or is that the guy? No, that's the guy. Because I can't even pick out which our engineer is from my craft. Stop it. Is that a good look? That's a good looking guy in that picture.

00:06:59 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 3:

Is this the right picture? Did you choose this picture? No.

00:07:02 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 4:

That's a good looking guy. No, no, no. So when I look at that, I don't know. Like I look at that guy and I'm going, okay, if I went to IMDB or whatever, that's what I would normally go to or somewhere Google pictures or whatever, I would sit there and I'd go, ooh, okay, all right, I like this.

00:07:20 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 2:

Do you want me to try to get him? I'll send a Teams message, I got it.

00:07:23 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 4:

Is that how you're trying to get him? You haven't gotten his personal phone number yet?

00:07:27 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 2:

I don't know if he's into me or not. I just texted him.

00:07:31 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 4:

Hey, KP, question. Are you guys friends on Instagram right now? You and the engineer?

00:07:39 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 1:

Nope. We just have each other's phone number.

00:07:42 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 4:

Because honestly, KP, I thought that these guys, these two dudes from Montana that are engineers here, I thought for sure they were your type.

00:07:49 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 1:

Yeah. I already have one guy in Montana that doesn't want to date me, so I will pass on this.

00:07:53 - 00:07:57 | Speaker 4:

Oh, wait a second. So you've kind of ruled the entire state of Montana out now.

00:07:57 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I kind of am over it.

00:07:59 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 4:

The state of Montana, you no longer have a chance with KP. KP is looking for somebody else.

00:08:04 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 1:

All of you suck.

00:08:05 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 4:

We're moving. Let's go across the Mississippi. Anybody in Iowa?

00:08:11 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 3:

I'm trying to get KP a guy up north here in Michigan so she doesn't have to travel. Kev did me so well.

00:08:16 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God.

00:08:17 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 3:

How's that going?

00:08:17 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 1:

I'm still chatting.

00:08:18 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 3:

You talked about that.

00:08:19 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 4:

This was where again? Some guy from TikTok. Oh, okay. So you actually randomly hit, hit up on him on Tik TOK.

00:08:25 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:08:26 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 4:

Okay. All right. Um, this is, uh, this is interesting because whenever anybody ever does tell you that you look like somebody, you cannot say, you know who you look like? And then you cannot say somebody that's, that's not good looking. Like if you see somebody that looks like a Rob Schneider, you know, keep it or Steve Buscemi, keep it to yourself. Yeah. Don't say anything to anybody.

00:08:50 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Do you want me to try to go grab him?

00:08:52 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 4:

I don't know if it adds to the conversation Because I don't know anybody who's going to see him You can't see the guy

00:08:57 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 3:

Who have you got

00:08:58 - 00:09:10 | Speaker 4:

Shannon one time made me feel really good When she said I looked like Ryan Reynolds at one point But that made me feel great Who else have I gotten besides that

00:09:10 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 2:

There's that coach There's that football coach Mike Rabel

00:09:15 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 4:

The guy who coached the Tennessee Titans For a while And now I think is an assistant somewhere that actually wasn't so bad I actually saw a guy the other day that I thought was Dan Campbell and he wasn't Dan Campbell and I'll say this, Dan Campbell's made Dan Campbell guys look good like Dan Campbell is to me an okay looking guy but his attitude and everything, the whole picture together makes him look like a guy that every girl wants to have sex with speaking of a guy that every girl wants to have sex with a guy just came in studio with a bunch of booze, I want to have sex with him now because of it, who are you? Everybody keeps coming in here with something. And this is the problem with the windows. We don't even have any. There's no filter to tell us who these people are that are coming in. But what is your name, sir?

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

Detroit Stealing Co., right?

00:09:59 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. So I'm J.P. J.P. J.P. J.P.

00:10:03 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 5:

J.P., has anybody ever told you you're kind of a skinnier Zach Galifianakis?

00:10:08 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I've gotten that. Have you gotten that? I've gotten, yeah, a really, a smaller version of the Kelsey brother. I was going to say just Kelsey.

00:10:19 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 5:

As soon as you are, I thought that. Actually, it's nice to be called a skinnier version of everybody, but you're the skinnier version of these big guys. So you are from Detroit Distilling Company, which, by the way, Detroit City Distilling, I actually have your bourbon at my house.

00:10:32 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, you probably have this one. You're in my, oh, is this a new one? Look at the Santa. Is this a special blend? That's a new one. But the one with that guy on there, that's my grandfather.

00:10:43 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 5:

That's your grandfather in the picture? That's awesome.

00:10:45 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 4:

So he was a butcher.

00:10:46 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 2:

Where are you guys located?

00:10:47 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 4:

So we're right around the corner on Raya Powell Street.

00:10:49 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 2:

Okay, but you can buy all of this stuff in a whole bunch of local stores.

00:10:53 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, all over.

00:10:54 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 2:

Okay.

00:10:54 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 5:

Can I tell you, I just got into bourbon during COVID, like everybody, right? That became a thing. I went on a bourbon tour, and now I'm really into bourbon. Where do you guys do it? Right there?

00:11:05 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 4:

So all of it's made right around the corner at the old Stroh's Ice Cream Factory.

00:11:09 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 5:

So we can make bourbon here. This is not illegal?

00:11:11 - 00:11:15 | Speaker 4:

You can make bourbon in any state in the U.S. It has to be in the U.S.

00:11:16 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 5:

And I learned a lot about when I went to do the distillery or all the stuff, like the tastings and stuff. So I learned a lot has to do with what you are keeping in it and storing it in. Yeah. What are you guys storing it in?

00:11:31 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 4:

So it's all new charred oak barrels, and a lot of our barrels actually are made in Michigan. Wow. I love that. That's cool. All our grain comes from Michigan. Everything's local.

00:11:40 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 5:

I got to be honest with you. You guys are actually one of my favorite choices for bourbon, which is awesome because a lot of the other choices, honestly, are some brands that are a hell of a lot more expensive than yours, which makes yours better for me because it's more cost effective. Yeah, you can walk

00:11:56 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 4:

right around the corner and pick it up.

00:11:58 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 5:

That's incredible. How can we get a Mojo blend? Yeah, would you think about it? Did you see this? I just saw that. These guys put me on a blend. These guys over here when I went down to... Yeah, we could do it. We've done it before. I don't want to take your grandfather off though because he's... No, no. Hold on one second. Stay with us. Alyssa, what's happening? It's Mojo in the morning.

00:12:16 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 1:

Hi, good morning.

00:12:18 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 5:

Hi, what's happening, Alyssa?

00:12:19 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 1:

I had somebody recently on TikTok the other day say that I look like Margot Robbie, which she's gorgeous. I can only picture Harley Quinn. And I'm wondering if I just look deranged.

00:12:33 - 00:12:34 | Unknown:

You know what?

00:12:35 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 2:

That is so funny that you bring that up because you could say that you looked like Ryan Reynolds. But is it the fat Ryan Reynolds in Just Friends?

00:12:45 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 5:

She is so. She, Alyssa, you see what she just did to me? I get it.

00:12:51 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 3:

That's hilarious.

00:12:52 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 5:

If somebody says you look like somebody, you're like, but what?

00:12:54 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 3:

Which version? Right, right. The young version or the current day version?

00:12:59 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 5:

Abby, what's up?

00:13:02 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 3:

Hi. Okay, so I had this customer come in to the restaurant that I work at, and I could have walked with you, like to the T. And I even thought he was lying to me when I asked him. He looked like who? you what restaurant maybe it is me uh it's not you i thought it was my first cook record book ever and it should be counselor okay is he good looking that's all i ask you know it does he have

00:13:33 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 5:

00:13:43 - 00:13:51 | Speaker 1:

hey hey yeah um i want to say uh kev he looks just like uh jared mayo the patriots coach that

00:13:51 - 00:14:06 | Speaker 5:

00:14:11 - 00:14:14 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm not. No.

00:14:14 - 00:14:14 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:14:14 - 00:14:18 | Speaker 2:

Not even like a breeze in the wind. Really?

00:14:18 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 6:

Not even like a breeze in the wind. What a descriptive way of just going. That's not like a fart.

00:14:27 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 5:

Do you take that as a compliment though, Kev? Because he's a sports guy? I don't. No? Who do you want to look like?

00:14:33 - 00:14:38 | Speaker 6:

I want to look like this guy named Kevin Irwin II. That's who I want to look like.

00:14:38 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 5:

Is that Kevin Irwin? Wait, is that you or your dad? That's my government. Oh, okay, because I was wondering.

00:14:42 - 00:14:51 | Speaker 6:

Do you think you look like The Weeknd? I've heard The Weeknd. I've heard Childish Gambino. I've heard Chance the Rapper. I've heard when I was younger, I used to get 50 Cent a lot.

00:14:51 - 00:14:52 | Unknown:

No.

00:14:52 - 00:14:53 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:14:53 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 2:

I don't know if I'm offended by the one I get all the time. What do you get? Drew Barrymore. Oh, I love that one for you. Oh, see. Yeah. It's actually not bad. But I think it's the...

00:15:00 - 00:15:33 | Speaker 4:

the wild facial expressions more than just they've taken over cities before but this july they're bringing the x games league championship home to new orleans july 24th through 26 at the superdome over a hundred elite athletes competing for the first ever league title plus metro booming jid subtronics and bunt performing live new orleans doesn't just host the moment.
