My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. for me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition. Not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.

All right, it's Mojo on the morning show. Megan took herself on a date.

00:02:20 - 00:02:20 | Speaker 4:

I did.

00:02:21 - 00:02:22 | Speaker 5:

Where'd you go?

00:02:22 - 00:02:23 | Speaker 4:

I went to the Fisher.

00:02:23 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 5:

You went to a show by yourself.

00:02:24 - 00:02:25 | Speaker 4:

I went to a show.

00:02:25 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 5:

When you go and see a show by yourself, can you buy one ticket and get a good deal on it, or how does that work?

00:02:32 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah. I love finding the really good ticket that, like, somebody bought the seats on the other side, so nobody's going to buy that one ticket, and it's, like, front row center. Like, I love getting tickets like that.

00:02:42 - 00:02:46 | Speaker 5:

I've gone to movies by myself. I've never thought about a show like, that would actually be a cool thing to do.

00:02:46 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 4:

Let me tell you, I love it, because nobody's talking anyway, so once you get there and you sit down, it's great. And you can run late, and I'm not going to lie, I am a huge theater nerd. But if you see something really bad and you want to leave an intermission, you can skedaddle and nobody cares. It's the best. But I went to the show and I was running a little bit behind. And I don't know why I decided it was a good time to hit up the bar, but I did. But I wasn't really paying attention. And unfortunately, I was trying to like check my ticket at the same time and see which aisle I was supposed to be entering into. And I wasn't watching people walking away from the bar. And I get up to the bar and I order a drink and I just wanted a beer. I thought it would be fast. Like, I'm not kidding you, the lights were flickering in the lobby, like, show's about to start. So I'm like, if I get a mixed drink, it's going to take a minute. If I get a beer, I'm sure they'll just, like, pop the top, hand it to me, and I can walk away. And that was the case, except for the fact that I truly believe it must have been a 40-ounce. I, it was so comically large, this beer that I got by myself, that it felt like a little kid with, do you remember those, like, crayon coin banks you had as a kid? Yes, I loved those. It felt like I was carrying that around. filled with alcohol. And it was like, hey, everybody, let's party by myself. I sit down and I, it's a one act, Gluis. So it's a play and it's only like an hour and 20, hour and a half, no intermission. It's real quick. And I drank the entire thing. I didn't even realize it. And it wasn't until I stood up that I was like, oh, I think I might be a little bit drunk by myself right now and i had these sweetest listeners in front of me who were just the nicest girls in the world and they said oh my god can we take a photo with you and i felt so like just loved and it was a great experience but i was sitting there in front of the camera i was like look normal like pull yourself together you're alone and possibly drunk at a play by yourself like just pull yourself together and i saw these photos i'm wondering if i had those drunk eyes you'll have to beth you're

00:04:46 - 00:04:56 | Speaker 5:

the person that took the pictures with uh megan at the fisher you'll have to uh you know call us and send us to us can i uh can i ask the question about uh going by yourself yeah but the girls yeah

00:04:56 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

do you want to know who they are yeah who are they madison rachel and sandy from

00:05:00 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 5:

hill orthopedic and pendulum vein and vascular wow i got it i was smart enough to take notes we

00:05:06 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 3:

got a full-on plug for those guys i like real real quick is it bad though when you're on a date by yourself and you're drunk and now you got to figure out how you're going to get home

00:05:15 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 5:

my ass had to take public transportation oh yeah so i was standing on that q platform for quite a while going should i google when this train stops moving i was like is it coming it's funny i used

00:05:28 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 3:

to have it back when i could not go to anything by myself like i felt like i would be like so lonely at it that i couldn't do it so it's interesting that you say that you went to a show like that because i would never have thought of going to that kind of show i've wanted to for the longest time go to a concert by myself yeah but the problem is i couldn't do a concert by myself even though there's a lot of people that are there and you can kind of mix in like making people think that you're with somebody else yeah i just feel like i would feel lonely at the concert

00:05:56 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 6:

by myself I can do a lot of things alone I love taking solo trips I love going out to eat by myself I don't think I would go to a play by myself I don't think I could do a concert no

00:06:05 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 5:

because nobody wants you to sing and dance with them if they don't know you so you're really like isolated at a concert like when you're singing and dancing you're singing at your friends or at the stage but when you're alone you can't interact with anybody it's weird I don't know I've had

00:06:19 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 2:

different situations like that I've been to concerts and I've been by myself really like Like Megan said, you can come when you want to come. You can leave when you want to leave. And if you're the vibe, people will gravitate towards you. At least that's been my experience. I went to a J. Cole concert by myself at Pine Knob. Really? A Pine Knob you went by yourself?

00:06:39 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 3:

Outdoors by yourself.

00:06:40 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, I had a ball at there.

00:06:42 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 3:

I don't know if I could do it.

00:06:43 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 6:

See, but you, Kev, and this is a compliment to you, you are the vibe. Like, I feel like if I'm at a concert, I need, like, my fun friends around me for it to be fun. Like, I am not the vibe. I'm not the fun one. Do you know what I mean? I'm not the fun one.

00:06:58 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 3:

844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548 is our telephone number. Text is 95500. Have you ever taken yourself on a date? Basically by yourself. Have you ever done that before? And if so, where did you go on your date? Like, where do you end up doing it? I guess, you know, aside from, like, you know, going to a restaurant completely by yourself, is there, like, a full-on date? And then at the end of the night, do you get lucky?

00:07:26 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, you can always get lucky. Did you? Did you do that? It's funny. I don't turn myself down.

00:07:32 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 3:

Isn't it nice? I've never said no to myself. By the way, do you ever, when you do the date by yourself, do you ever, like, talk to yourself and say, we're going to split this one?

00:07:43 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 5:

Oh, my God. I'll get the Q fare if you get the beer.

00:07:47 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 3:

Abby, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:07:50 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 4:

Hey, so Kevin's totally right. You can absolutely go to concerts by yourself. In fact, it's usually better that way. Like, I go to concerts by myself all the time because I got sick of not going to concerts because I had no one to go with.

00:08:01 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Yeah.

00:08:03 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 4:

But I will say it's so much easier if it's standing room. You can't go if there's seats.

00:08:07 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 5:

So I disagree. I took a trip by myself to New York to see Harry Styles. And the trip, I felt fine. And as soon as I got to the concert, it felt weird.

00:08:16 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 6:

Were you by yourself at that one?

00:08:17 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 5:

I was.

00:08:18 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 6:

Oh, I didn't know that. I thought you were meeting people. Oh, no, people were supposed to go with you. I remember that. Yeah.

00:08:23 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 3:

Jamie, what's going on? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi.

00:08:26 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Jamie. Yep. Yep. Hey, what's up, Mojo? What's up, team? Hey. Good morning. It's in comments, you know, what Megan and Kevin said. You know, like, I've been to a concert before by myself. I've taken myself out to eat by myself, going to get drinks by myself. As long as you vibe yourself, people will come around you, they'll see it, and they'll want to be around you whether you know them or not.

00:08:49 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 3:

So they don't look at you like you're crazy? They don't look at you like, no?

00:08:53 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 1:

I mean, like, if you, okay, don't get me wrong, if you're sitting there all secluded, you look kind of down, or you just look like, you know, like you're in some type of mood, yeah, people are not going to want to be around you. But if you're out and you're happy and your vibe is like, you can read your aura and people will literally naturally attract you.

00:09:09 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 5:

That's so funny because now I'm wondering if this is like a guy thing versus a girl thing because i'm not gonna lie i was at a harry styles concert i was in my best vibes that's my that's my peak vibes and i didn't have that experience what's the best place to go

00:09:21 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 1:

to by yourself oh so for me uh like i said uh i go to like uh a hispanic restaurant a lot um and just get like a quick meal um and mind you like you know uh i i do it i don't want to say maybe like twice uh maybe three times a month because investing in yourself is always the most top priority you know people can see that you know i like you jamie i like you we needed you today

00:09:47 - 00:10:07 | Speaker 3:

thank you we're all not crazy uh jamie's jamie's got himself together doesn't he i want him to date lydia why do you pick lydia for that one for that jamie just seems like a really good guy okay what about the rest of What about Megan or KP? Well, I guess KP is taking it. Megan won't majeet and KP. Oh, this is true. This is true. I do really want him. Roberta, what's going on?

00:10:08 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 4:

Hola.

00:10:09 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 3:

Hola.

00:10:10 - 00:10:11 | Speaker 4:

Como estas?

00:10:11 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 3:

Hola, que tal? Bien y tu?

00:10:13 - 00:10:15 | Speaker 4:

Muy bien y tu? Gracias.

00:10:16 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 3:

What's happening?

00:10:19 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 4:

Not much. I go on dates all the time. I love myself date. It's love me 2025. I go to wineries, especially like in an Amish town. Oh, yeah.

00:10:30 - 00:10:35 | Speaker 6:

Not in the Amish town. What's so good about the wineries in the Amish town? Tell me.

00:10:36 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 4:

Well, for one, you're like a hundred times hotter because a lot of times, you know, a lot of these women ain't showing skin. So I might wear a little soap. Come through, Jebediah.

00:10:45 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my God. Everybody's looking like, where did that girl come from? Oh, my God.

00:10:52 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 5:

Let's see if we can get that carriage a rocket.

00:10:55 - 00:10:56 | Speaker 3:

Roberta, there you are.

00:10:56 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 5:

That's how we East Side Girls do it.

00:11:00 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 3:

Nicole, you went to Faster Horses on a solo date?

00:11:08 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 6:

Kind of. My friend went with me, but she ditched me when she met. She's into older men, so she met a bunch of older men and kind of ditched me, and I kind of did the whole weekend by myself. Oh, my God. That would be tough. I commend you for that.

00:11:23 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 3:

Was it fun?

00:11:25 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 6:

I mean, I had a good time because I love music in general, but country music is probably my favorite. um but i can make friends anywhere that's cool um i i kind of relate to kevin because i i'm kind of a vibe if i can toot my own horn i like it um well yeah good for you but yeah i had a great

00:11:43 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 3:

time that's awesome i often thought that you know a lot of the live nations and stuff like that have like one tickets available i'm like give us the one tickets and we'll give them the people hey you want to go to a show by yourself it's not a bad idea do like a do like solo concerts some this is wild a vacation to Disney World you went by yourself is that right Stephanie

00:12:02 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 5:

yeah yeah good morning guys I love taking myself places doing things on my own I don't mind I like being with myself so for my 29th birthday my best friend was getting married down in Florida I went a couple days early on my actual birthday, and I took myself to Epcot, and I drank around the world by myself. Oh, God. You just get on the Monterey and go home. I made so many friends. I made so many friends. I had the best time. I bought myself a Chiara. I bought on all fries. Yeah, it was amazing. And people are like, you went by yourself. That's cool. You drank by yourself. Yeah, absolutely. Like the other caller said, you have to invest in yourself. And if you don't like being alone by yourself, like, do you really like yourself as a person? That's so good.

00:12:57 - 00:13:10 | Speaker 3:

You definitely, when you're by yourself like that and you're that confident, you definitely have your stuff together, it sounds like. I can't believe the amount of concert people. Catherine, you went to Taylor Swift by yourself.

00:13:12 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 7:

Sure did. I went to the Reputation Tour by myself. It was amazing.

00:13:16 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 6:

Were you able to get, like, a really good ticket, a good seat for a good price, just being a single, like, needing a single ticket?

00:13:22 - 00:13:36 | Speaker 7:

Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I think I paid, like, $250, and I got a floor seat. I didn't have to worry about what anybody else wanted to pay or what they wanted to do. It was everything. That's awesome. I would 1,000% do it again.

00:13:37 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 3:

All the Swifties staying together. And then Amanda says that she knows the reason why I can't go to a concert by myself. What is that, Amanda? All right.

00:13:46 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 7:

Mojo, you need somebody to wake you up when it's over. You win. You win today.

Moto Casino. America's social casino. This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and teachers do. business leaders have to say.

00:15:01 - 00:15:46 | Speaker 2:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be the thing you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or need 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out of the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State, with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.
