Any of you guys facing any kind of stress with trying to figure out what to do for Christmas shopping and doing stuff?

00:01:04 - 00:01:24 | Speaker 5:

I'm literally jotting down notes right now about this because I'm so annoyed about this. And there's one thing I forgot to get. This is very serious because I've gotten so few ideas from the boys in my life that I if I don't get this, I'm going to be absolutely screwed this year. I'm screwed on time as well. And this is all my brother's fault.

00:01:24 - 00:01:31 | Speaker 3:

wait what is it that your uh why is your brother's fault is he hard to shop for well we had all

00:01:31 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 5:

agreed this year and i don't know if you guys do this in your family we come up with new plans and new traditions every single year and so this year was are we doing a gift exchange or not and we had all agreed like no we're not doing it this year there's nothing we want there's nothing we need and we were thinking about like going out and just like doing something as a family on christmas day instead of sitting around the house and doing a gift exchange. Which I love that. Same, same. Plus, we are all in a consumeristic society where all of us buy what we want as soon as we want it anyways. So there's not even something anybody's been holding on to as like a wish. Like we're all the worst of like, I want it, I got it. Like Ariana Grande style. And over the weekend, my brother had gone to Chicago. and as he was leaving he just does this quick little thing like oh actually just you know i got you some christmas presents after we had agreed to not doing christmas presents oh boy and so now my dad and i are like well i guess we have to go what's the budget what like now you've made it super awkward because you've already bought this i've been your brother to you before you have and it's so incredibly frustrating because now you don't want to tell me what you've spent on me so i don't know how to match you i don't know what the groundwork i don't know if i'm going to go over budget under budget who's going to be uncomfortable and what made him change

00:02:54 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 3:

plans was he not in agreement of the original plan or what's the story i really took care of

00:02:59 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 5:

thanksgiving for my family so i think this was like uh yeah okay but i i was fine with thanksgiving thanksgiving is easy i can buy the food i know what i'm gonna cook christmas is hard you don't want slash need anything yeah and now i'm stressed out so my dad and i spent like seven hours at the mall this weekend trying to figure out what to get each other how much money are we including girlfriends now at this point are they going to be over at the place and i call my brother on his way back from chicago i'm like i need ideas like i'm really struggling out here and he just keeps repeating over and over and over again i don't need anything i don't want anything that's not how this works you started this you're stressing me out and you're not helping as somebody who

00:03:42 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 3:

has changed the rules mid-game and done this before i never wanted anything i wanted to get you something and i think maybe that's what your brother's saying that's not how it works what happens if your what if you got if your brother gave you and your dad gifts and you guys gave him nothing would he like be like are these bastards what are they doing or would he understand that

00:04:02 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 5:

he changed the rules no i he doesn't care i care i feel like the letdown if you get me something and i i didn't return it i feel like the bad sister i get it because i didn't care about you enough that's why i don't think people understand but that's it's not the same like

00:04:19 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 4:

a dinner even though the monetary value is it could be very similar or even more because food is so expensive it's not the same you can't be like well i got thanksgiving and you're opening all these gifts and your brother's just sitting there not opening anything right i hate when people do the switch by the way as we're talking about this yeah we are not getting any gifts for each other right nope oh crap i gotta that's not even funny it's not because the last minute stress

00:04:43 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 3:

then like sets me over the edge i bought kevin this unbelievable lexus my kind of guy and have

00:04:52 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 5:

you have you been on amazon you can't get anything by christmas online right now yeah a lot of the Shipping deadlines are over.

00:04:59 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 3:

Did you see the Amazon driver?

00:05:00 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 4:

are talking about going on strike now, too. No way. This way until after Thursday. Okay, but look, in your brother's defense, real quick, even though we had this understanding, if I walk past a store and I see something that screams you, me being the great person I am, I can't just keep walking.

00:05:16 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 5:

Yes, you can, because we've made agreements, and now you're making me look like the bad guy with your gift. I don't see anything but love. But that's a selfish thing. You're actually thinking in a selfish place, which is what I would like to tell my brother.

00:05:31 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 2:

All right, 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548 is our telephone number. Did Megan's brother commit a major family foul? Do we have to throw the flag on him for what he's doing, changing the rules this close to the game? And I think that, honestly, I do think that he just wants to do something nice for you. And if I was him, I wouldn't have told you. I would have just done it and then showed up.

00:05:58 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 1:

That might have been worse. No, but because now you've just stressed her out and made her upset.

00:06:04 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 4:

But could you imagine her receiving a gift on Christmas and not having anything to give? No, honestly, I probably would have cried. Her stress level would have went crazy.

00:06:12 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 2:

See, I think that you would have looked at it and gone, my brother loves me.

00:06:15 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 4:

No, she wouldn't even be able to enjoy it.

00:06:17 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 5:

No, it would have been so, like, I feel so selfish.

00:06:22 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 2:

Really?

00:06:22 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 5:

On Christmas Day, that's a terrible feeling.

00:06:25 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 2:

Oh, a texter here, 734, says, I think your brother is sweet. He wants to repay you for what you did for Thanksgiving. Why not make him something? You make amazing baked goods. That's an interesting one. I like that. What's going on, Todd? What's happening? How you doing?

00:06:41 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 3:

Hey, what's up? First time call, man. Hey, Todd. I've been listening for a while, but first time, man. First time. Ho, ho, ho. Thank you.

00:06:52 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 2:

What's going on, Todd? What do you think?

00:06:54 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 3:

No, I can say, like, I came up from Virginia. I'm cleaning my parents' basement trying to help out. I'm looking for gifts, and I discovered them.

00:07:01 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 2:

What do you –

00:07:02 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 3:

I don't let anybody know about it.

00:07:03 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 2:

Wait, wait, hold on a second. Totally off topic. You are – you're cleaning your parents' basement to help them out, and you're looking to see what they bought you?

00:07:11 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 3:

No, I'm discovering things in my parents' basement that, like, nobody realizes was here. Oh, so you're going to re-gift things that are in their house. I'm going to take it. Yeah, exactly.

00:07:22 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 2:

Oh, that's – Here's an idea for you, Megan. Just go in your brother's place, which is your old house, right? Yeah. And just re-gift him whatever that's already in there and see if he recognizes that he didn't see it for a little bit. Interesting. How about that dog, Coraline? Put a big bow around. Say, here you go. I'm going to give you a dog. That's an interesting thing that his son's doing. His parents are old and probably have a little memory loss, and the guy's playing with their emotions. What's up, Jennifer? Hi.

00:07:49 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 7:

Hi. So I work at a school, and I know my coworkers. I'm married, and my coworkers are not, and we don't make a lot of money. We are daycare workers. So I bought my coworkers Christmas gifts, and I'm not going to give it to them until Friday when we're leaving at the end of the day so they don't feel bad.

00:08:11 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 2:

She's pulling the old switcheroo, but she's going to be in her car driving home at that time, right?

00:08:18 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 7:

Exactly.

00:08:19 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 2:

You know what? That's actually kind of a nice thing to do because you know what that is? That's the whole St. Nick, right? You know, the St. Nick, Santa Claus would give you the gifts and you wouldn't even see him coming, basically. It was like a drive-by gifting. Yeah.

00:08:35 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 7:

I like that.

00:08:37 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 2:

So I like that idea. And you're not looking for any praise or pats on the back. It's not like you're going to sit there and say, hey, where's mine?

00:08:44 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 7:

No, absolutely not. I want to do this because, one, as a single mom, I know she doesn't. I know she can't.

00:08:51 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:08:52 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 7:

And I know she would if she could. And I don't want that. I want to do it because I love my coworkers.

00:08:58 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 2:

You're a sweet lady. Seriously, that's the whole spirit of the season right there. I love you. Nice job, Jennifer. What's going on, Sandra?

00:09:07 - 00:09:18 | Speaker 1:

Hey, I was just thinking like a weekend away or a concert, something where maybe you two could spend time together because he really seems like he enjoys his sister's company.

00:09:18 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 2:

that's so sweet if i had the money for a weekend away but it is not you do that normally anyway that's like what's called a tuesday for you guys you guys do go and do these little things i'm

00:09:30 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 5:

sure that you help out and i think that's a huge perk of the job but like to plan i the whole reason we had this conversation is um i mean truly finance based so like i just wish i had the money to do something like that for him but i don't tasha what's up it's mojo in the morning hi good

00:09:47 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 6:

morning good morning i wanted to talk about the awkward thing where you and your friends agree that you're not going to exchange gifts and then when you get together they all come with gifts and you don't uh well that

00:10:00 - 00:10:07 | Speaker 3:

That is the surprise that I was saying that I think would be better for them to do. But it makes you feel like you're a mooch, doesn't it? Feeling crap.

00:10:07 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 1:

Yes.

00:10:08 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:10:09 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 1:

A little bit, yeah.

00:10:10 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 3:

But isn't it nice, though, that they don't expect anything back? Like, they're not doing it because they want you to go and feel bad. They're doing it because they feel like you deserve it. That's a sweet friendship.

00:10:21 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 1:

Right, but then you also feel the same way, but you're also respecting the conversation you've had. Yeah, I know.

00:10:28 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 3:

Well, that's the whole point of this conversation, I guess, here right now. I will say this to you, that we are not getting gifts. Is that what you said, Janet? We're not doing gifts?

00:10:38 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 5:

I feel like we all need a pinky promise. Like, actually pinky promise.

00:10:43 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 3:

Can we?

00:10:44 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 5:

There are nothing. We just said nothing.

00:10:47 - 00:10:52 | Speaker 3:

Can we do this? Can we do Secret Santa? I will honestly be so pissed. Let's pick one person's name out.

00:10:52 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 5:

No, not at this point.

00:10:55 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 3:

No, listen to what I'm saying. I love you no not a secret Santa remember last year we all just decided we were going to buy Zach a gift we put everybody's name in there and then we pick one person's name out nobody knows exactly whose name it is but it's the it's the same person and everybody buys for one person

00:11:10 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 5:

we had this conversation we know because then it's still I have to go I have to add something to my list please no it's easy for me it is such a gift to not have someone else to buy for at this point truly

00:11:21 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 4:

please I will say this if any of you bring a gift I will look you in the eyes as I throw it in the trash and walk away. How about this?

00:11:29 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 3:

You, come on. How about this?

00:11:30 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 4:

We all bring a fun alcohol for Friday morning show.

00:11:34 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 5:

Why don't we do that? That's a great idea.

00:11:35 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 3:

Why doesn't everybody, everybody brings their favorite alcohol in and we add to our bar that's over here in the corner.

00:11:41 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 5:

Perfect. And we can make drinks on Friday morning. Perfect. What do you think? Come on, you love this idea, Ken.

00:11:46 - 00:11:49 | Speaker 3:

No, no, no, no. If we drink them, he's talking about just put it in the corner.

00:11:49 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 5:

No, we're going to drink them.

00:11:50 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. I think it would be fun. That's a great idea, Shannon. I like that.

00:11:53 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 2:

We're the station to put the rum in.

00:11:55 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 3:

Whatever. What's that? Can I? Can we dress up on Friday? No. Pajamas. We're dressing up. Like something. We're going out somewhere nice afterwards.

00:12:02 - 00:12:03 | Unknown:

All right, never mind.

00:12:03 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 3:

All right, now I can end this. We're the station to put the rum in. Pa-rum-pa-pum-pum.

00:12:08 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 5:
