All right, Mojo on the morning show. So Megan went on a date that she calls the most boring date ever.

00:02:30 - 00:04:42 | Speaker 3:

And I did not know how to get away, which is probably the craziest part about all of this. I have learned from the legendary Ellen, former producer of this morning show, that the best way to do what she would call school night dates is drinks and drinks only. Because if you have a good time, you leave them wanting more and you'll set up something for the weekend. And if you have a bedtime, you have an out to get out of there. Or so I thought. Now I need to get a hold of her and tell her that she has lied because some men do not get the hint that the out is happening and they are not involved in joining me on the getaway process. I had gone on a date with the most boring man I had ever met in my entire life. And this is, I don't, it's going to come off as disrespectful. He was nice. He was pleasant. He wasn't creepy. Like it wasn't anything like that. i just wish he had just a lick of a personality that existed what what made what made him boring what was it well i think i started off on the wrong foot now i live in downtown detroit and unfortunately or maybe fortunately i live near the finance district so a lot of the people that i match with are like distance so if they're at work there's a lot of finance bros now that can be a good thing but for this guy uh that's all he really wanted to talk about was like the market and bitcoins and i was trying to make jokes about like oh my god that's made up money you're gambling with made up and he like got weirdly serious about it and then went in depth on hedge funds and tax breaks and i was like sir am i paying you for financial advice or am i paying for my 30 cocktail that was totally watered down and i just want to get out of here so when i wanted to leave he was like well we didn't get any food are you hungry you want to go get food and I was like no I'm good thanks I'm just gonna you know walk home my mistake he was like well oh it's night I'll walk with you back to your place I don't want you walking alone at nighttime and I was like oh my god let me leave it's interesting and by the way I agree with you I don't want it

00:04:42 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

to sound and I you did not make him sound like he was like you know bad just boring and boring sometimes you know some people are into boring um let me tell you this man was stable and sometimes that's all that's kind of nice i know um i would love if we could get listeners to

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 2:

call out the boring date that they were on and tell us about the boring date because that would be fun to hear so the idea of the conversation was a little bit boring it was tough to to get engaged you were not interested in what he was talking about no but he did give me a lot of

00:05:13 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 4:

great tips about uh what i should be investing in uh don't worry i won't so yeah you came for cocktails he came for a consultation literally literally i started asking him about his hobbies And he was like, oh, well, I was mining some Bitcoin once. And I was like, no. You know, that's the thing, though.

00:05:32 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 5:

And we talked about this, is there are certain people that are on dating apps to grow their business. Yes, I think that's kind of what this is.

00:05:39 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 2:

I do have to say this, though. Could you imagine being on a date with Megan and hearing her talk about every documentary she's binge watched? For sure.

00:05:46 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 4:

I'm sure somebody's gone on a date with me and has thought over and over and over again, shut the hell up. I'm sure.

00:05:52 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 2:

You're good, though, at faking it, though. Like, even like if we are all going out or you and I are just out and we're talking because I know that you and I have totally different interests. You are good at asking me questions about my interests and making it seem like you care about it. Did you try to do that? Like, did you try to get heavily into tell me more about this Bitcoin or tell me more about your crypto?

00:06:13 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 4:

Yes, because I'm not rude. And unfortunately, I feel like, OK, oh, this is so mean. You ever meet somebody who's like really into Yu-Gi-Oh? Oh, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da increasing and really it's an investment at this point and this special artist came in for a specific campaign like was this this guy did this guy with finances i couldn't care less you know what i mean like i'm so happy you have a passion genuinely like i beg for guys to have a passion this one just didn't line up with me so we were having a conversation chelsea and i were

00:07:13 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 2:

having a conversation about our son joe and his girlfriend elissa and how it must be so miserable to have to sit there and listen to him and talking about Star Wars and Disney.

00:07:25 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 5:

Oh, the Star Wars would kill me.

00:07:27 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:07:28 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 5:

I get that. I've never seen a Star Wars in my life. If you don't know this, that would kill me.

00:07:33 - 00:08:11 | Speaker 2:

But I think it's really interesting that she's kind of morphed into enjoying it because she'll do the go to the Disney thing with him. But I think it's one of those can't beat him, join him. But I will tell you this. it does get boring uh when you go out with somebody that you just met on an app you are pretty much looking at just their looks yeah and you have no idea you almost have to put that out there right away i'm gonna talk to you about this on the date like i wonder if that i wonder if that would help people or hurt people with uh getting a date i think the key to dating don't take my

00:08:11 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 3:

advice at all but it's to be more interested than interesting yeah like i think sometimes

00:08:16 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 4:

well why not because it's got to be a 50 50 if you're not interesting i'm not going to pretend

00:08:22 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 3:

like i'm interested in you the whole time no for sure for sure i mean be yourself and hopefully you're an interesting person but don't come off as though like you're just talking about you

00:08:29 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 2:

well yeah um 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 is our telephone number text is 95500 i want to hear about the most boring date that you were ever on and by the way that has always been one of the smartest things that Ellen ever talked about on the air was that the workday dating you should never go to dinner on a workday yeah because that dinner date can turn into the most miserable long extravagant thing you know and then if you do like the person after you have drinks and you want to get appetizers or something like that you can but I say say Ellen was right and leave him wanting more bruno what's up you wanted to say something to megan yeah good morning everyone

00:09:13 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 1:

so i have two questions for megan uh so before you met up with him did you have uh did you know beforehand that he's the type of person that talks about himself a lot and while you guys were you know out there talking did he give you an impression that he was nervous because i know some people tend to like revert back to that one thing that makes them feel comfortable when they're nervous so i feel like maybe that's why he was talking about himself so much yeah and it wasn't

00:09:42 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 4:

even that he was talking about himself so much that's a gross over generalization of said drink and it was singular because i was trying to get out of there uh just just boring like boring the conversation was going back and forth but there was it felt like Thank you.

00:10:00 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 5:

I felt like I was almost talking to AI in a way, like you're just answering advice questions on finances or teaching me about finances and you weren't actually like connecting or telling me about your life or any other hobby other than what your job was, like nothing, which wasn't like what the app was like. The app talking experience was not like that.

00:10:22 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 2:

Did he have inflection in his voice or was it on a Tony? No, he was passionate about it. I'd love to hear some people talk about the boring person who didn't talk the entire date. What's up, Tony?

00:10:35 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 1:

Hey, hey, what's going on, Mojo Squad? First time, long time.

00:10:38 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 2:

Hey, what's up, buddy?

00:10:44 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 1:

Hey, I was just calling in. Listen, Megan, don't come too bad, okay? We all go through it, so just keep going on dates. No.

00:10:51 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 2:

No. Have you ever had a boring date, Tony, that you can call out?

00:10:55 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 1:

I had one of the longest, boringest dates with a beautiful woman. This girl was gorgeous, like, no joke, all the way live, but zero personality. I'm talking about zero. Like, I'm a pretty animated guy, and, like, I had to break down jokes and all kinds of things. It was such a weird project. It was like, all kind of funny, and she was just like the girl that was, she made me think of, y'all remember that commercial where the blind girl was chewing the gum, and she's just like, I don't get it. but she was great to look at wasn't she it was great to look at but that was literally it and it was such a disappointing situation because it was like man that's literally all you're good for and i hated that you know i hate that fact but either way we all go through it so that's where

00:11:41 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 2:

you hope that you're in a loud place go to a loud bar and then you don't have to talk at all you just sit there and smile rachel what's up rachel good morning guys good morning morning um yeah so

00:11:54 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 3:

I met a guy off of Plenty of Fish at a Starbucks years ago and he got me my coffee and I went to sit in the chair and instead of him sitting across from me at the other empty chair, he sat on the corner of my chair. No, no, no. He wanted to be cozy and comfy with you. No, he was touching my face he was getting all up in my business people were looking at me like this poor girl i'm like oh my god what am i gonna say oh my god what am i gonna say to get out of here i could not get out of there fast enough i can't even remember what i said but never saw him again totally ghosted him it was it was mortifying oh it was crazy yeah that's that's awful uh what's up sarah

00:12:42 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 4:

hi hi i so i'm a first time long time so during quarantine i met with a guy on a dating app and we went out for drinks downtown in detroit and during our dinner he not even excuse me not dinner we went for drinks he kept talking about how he had started a CrossFit journey and he had people that were doing it in his backyard. So I, first time he brought it up, I'm like, oh, that's great. That sounds wonderful. Mind you, I clearly do not look like somebody who does CrossFit. If you saw me, you'd be like, this girl has never done CrossFit a day in her life. That, by the way, is a category of people.

00:13:32 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 5:

The CrossFit people are boring. CrossFit, the macro counting people, that that's the same thing as the bitcoin people and the yoyoshi whatever that is that had to be the most exhilarating time ever star trek people it's all those categories

00:13:55 - 00:14:25 | Speaker 4:

or star wars and it got worse why so he ended up showing me so he kept trying to bring the conversation back and at one point he stopped and goes i want to show you something so he leans over and he shows me his ring camera footage of the people he was doing the crossfit challenges with no and letting me listen to the music they were playing and i was i didn't know what else to say i almost felt like he was trying to get me to sign up and i kind of felt like maybe he was

00:14:25 - 00:14:39 | Speaker 5:

But to have to watch videos of him doing CrossFit is next level. And also, you said that it was at his house. So, like, if you ever went back to his place, wouldn't you be like, is he filming me? Is he showing this to people? Like, that's so crazy.

00:14:40 - 00:14:43 | Speaker 2:

Carly says she feels like she's being called out. What's up, Carly?

00:14:44 - 00:14:46 | Speaker 4:

Hi. Good morning, guys. Morning.

00:14:46 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 2:

What's going on?

00:14:47 - 00:14:53 | Speaker 4:

Yes, I feel called out because I married a Pokemon-obsessed accountant. Oh, my goodness. God bless you.

00:14:53 - 00:14:55 | Speaker 2:

Here, let me tell you, though. Where was he last night?

00:14:56 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 5:

Every puzzle has a piece. I'm not here to yuck anybody's yuck.

00:15:00 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 4:

Um, that is my yuck and your yum.

00:15:03 - 00:15:09 | Speaker 6:

And you guys found some kind of a commonality. What is the thing that brought you guys together?

00:15:10 - 00:15:18 | Speaker 2:

Um, I don't know. Our personalities mesh together. My brother was a big video game nerd, so I guess it kind of felt natural for me to be with him.

00:15:18 - 00:15:24 | Speaker 6:

Good. All right. See, I like that. That's nice to know. Maybe Megan needs to give this guy a second chance, Megan.

00:15:24 - 00:15:24 | Speaker 4:

No.

00:15:25 - 00:15:25 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.
