home of the phone scams the war of the roses and the dirty on the 30 mojo in the morning megan did you finally get a credit card we were talking about megan and credit cards and you you

00:02:09 - 00:02:14 | Speaker 2:

didn't have a credit card right no i don't have a credit card you don't it's a new car a debit

00:02:14 - 00:02:16 | Speaker 7:

card. Okay, new debit card.

00:02:17 - 00:02:26 | Speaker 2:

Can just one second, can we all just take a minute to show me how proud you are of me that my card expired and I didn't lose

00:02:26 - 00:02:31 | Speaker 3:

it. Wow, you made it all the way through a cycle without losing it. That's huge.

00:02:32 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 2:

That's the first time that's ever happened. Give us some air horn. She's an adult. So I got this new card, right? They sent it to me. And a little part of me was excited because I've been trying to cancel a few subscriptions and I couldn't figure it out because websites nowadays try to keep you from doing that. So I was like, hell yeah, new card means all of those subscriptions are going to end. So I was pretty excited until I started getting quite a few emails saying, hey, Megan, we'd love for you to update your payment information because our services have stopped. And some of those were, like I said, ones that I wanted canceled. A lot of them I forgot I had signed up for a very long time ago, including an online therapist that I had paid for monthly that I never once visited or used. Oh, wow.

00:03:24 - 00:03:34 | Speaker 3:

So while we were just proud of you for about three seconds, now I'm not proud of you again because you actually thought if I just stop paying and get a new card, they're going to stop the subscription. It doesn't work like that.

00:03:35 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 7:

You know what, though? What do you mean? No, it kind of does, right? You don't pay for it anymore?

00:03:40 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 3:

It depends. If they don't know you left and the service is still open, then they're just waiting for a new payment card to be put in. They're not going to cancel. They're going to say, hey.

00:03:49 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 2:

Well, they can't take my money. I don't have the card. Can I tell you?

00:03:53 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 7:

I can mess up your credit. I like to do that from time to time and clean out subscriptions that I didn't even realize I still had. Sometimes I'll subscribe to something. For instance, for the show, I'll subscribe to the local newspaper just to get a story that we need. And I'll subscribe to it really fast Thinking oh I'll unsubscribe to it Like at the end of the month Well at the end of the month I never unsubscribe to it And so sometimes like getting a new card Is actually the best way to not have to You know keep track of everything That you're subscribed to

00:04:23 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 3:

But if they're still sending you the subscription They still expect payment for it

00:04:28 - 00:04:52 | Speaker 2:

No I can't log in is what they're saying So until I update the payment info I can't log in and use it But I think we missed the big point here That I was paying for a therapist That I never once went to Was it like a better help or something, Megan? It wasn't that company, but it was very similar. And I was just like, they emailed me yesterday. I was like, how much was I paying for this? And it was more expensive than I realized.

00:04:52 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

Megan, you shouldn't have canceled that. You should get that back again because you have been doing very good lately. Maybe just having...

00:05:00 - 00:05:02 | Speaker 2:

To pay that actually has been therapy enough for you.

00:05:02 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 4:

Well, ask me what else I've been paying for. What else have you been paying for? I have been paying for piano lessons that I have not taken enough for years. You wanted to play piano? I do kind of play piano, but not very well. And I found this school during the pandemic, and I have a really nice keyboard. And I was like, you know what? I'll set it back up, and it's set up in my room right now. Well, no. If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen it. It's next to my mirror propped up against the wall just sitting there collecting dust. But for a while, it was set up, and I would play it all the time. And then, I don't know, things got busy. But I just forgot to cancel my piano lessons. So I've just been paying for them and not taking them.

00:05:39 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 2:

Wow. Online piano lessons, online therapy. What else is in that little batch there? You got anything good, anything we can enjoy?

00:05:49 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 4:

I'm going to be really honest, because I'm not sponsored, and they never sponsored me, and I wanted them to. I was paying for HelloFresh for a very long time. Could not figure out how to cancel it. They make that so tough. Many times. And this was the first week a HelloFresh box didn't come and I was like, I win.

00:06:06 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 2:

I had that same thing happen to me with some supplements that I bought. Like there were some supplements that I bought that were like, these things are great and they'll make your skin look nice or whatever. And I saw the ad like online. I'm like, oh, I'm going to try this and see what it looks like. You guys, I have bottles upon bottles of this stuff. Chelsea's like, you got to cancel the thing. I'm like, Chelsea, I'm trying to. They won't stop sending it to me.

00:06:30 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 3:

Well, then it becomes a game for me to get it canceled. Is there somewhere on your, like, where do you check to see you? Like, what your recurring charges or subscriptions are? Because I feel like I have so many for, like, kids games. You know what I'm saying? Like, ABC Mouse or something that we no longer use that I'm paying for. There's not a section?

00:06:50 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 2:

I think if you go into, I don't know what bank you use, but the bank that I use, you can go in there. So I'm Chase. And so on their app, you can see, like, every month what the reoccurring is. Because one of the things that got me was Apple Music. I was paying for, like, three different subscriptions instead of just getting a family subscription. Like, why was I doing that? Yeah, like, I want to figure that out. Megan, this is the best text of them all. 313 says, technically, Megan, you did lose your card because your brother found it.

00:07:17 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, that's right. I forgot about that. A couple of weeks ago, my wallet was loose in downtown.

00:07:24 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 2:

What's up, Liz? Do you want to say something to Megan?

00:07:27 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 6:

Yes. Liz. Sorry, not Liz. Sorry, that's not my real name. Sorry, I'm confused. Oh, okay. Megan, it sounds like you need to join Erica's Savings Challenge. And I'm sure you've seen her on Instagram. She's the one that says, Erica is an attorney, and she reads the fine print, so I don't have to. And that's why I follow her. And she tells you all these tips and hacks for saving. Like, she tells you how to get free AirPods and use the warranty. Something I learned that she's just opening her savings challenge again today. But something I learned today, and no, I don't sell anything for her. Something I learned was that if you have T-Mobile, T-Mobile also includes Netflix for you. And a lot of people in the savings challenge I joined didn't know this. So they canceled their Netflix because it was already included in their T-Mobile subscription.

00:08:20 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 1:

Wow. Oh, no. Yeah, that's really cool. Now, let me ask you this person we're supposed to. What's her name we're following? Savings challenge?

00:08:25 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 3:

Is she Erica Budgets on YouTube? No, Erica Kohlberg.

00:08:29 - 00:08:37 | Speaker 6:

So, E-R-I-K-A-K-U-L-L-B-E-R-G. She used to be an attorney.

00:08:37 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 1:

Do we have to subscribe to her information?

00:08:42 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 6:

I mean, you don't have to, but you're going to get a lot of tips from her. Oh, she's legit. Hey, Liz, is your real name Erica?

00:08:51 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 5:

um what's up anita um i may be old-fashioned but does nobody look at statements or their online banking to see what's coming out all the time there's a reason that companies give you all

00:09:06 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 1:

those discounts and deals for going paperless because they realize yeah if you get the statement you're gonna see that you've paid for stuff you shouldn't be paying for yeah right but you can

00:09:16 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 5:

still go online and look at your capital one credit card and see what you're what you're subscribing to and you can still go on your bank app and see which that's what i do i do it all

00:09:28 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 4:
