Hey guys, Bobby Bones here, host of the Bobby Bones Show. I'm always tired because I wake up at 3 o'clock in the morning. But it's all worth it because I get to hang out with all my friends and my studio. We share our lives. We look for as much good in the world as we possibly can with Tell Me Something Good. And we talked through the biggest news stories of the day and also your biggest and favorite country artists are always stopping by on the Gulf Coast. Check us out on 95 KSJ and lock us in as a preset on the free iHeartRadio app today.

00:01:14 - 00:01:22 | Speaker 3:

By the way, this is a live show. I hope you know that it's a live show, not a replay show. So hope you had a good Easter yesterday.

00:01:23 - 00:01:24 | Speaker 4:

I was going to say, prove it.

00:01:26 - 00:01:32 | Speaker 3:

Back from vacation. It is wild, by the way, when we're on vacation. And Shannon, you schedule all the best of, and you do such a great job.

00:01:32 - 00:01:35 | Speaker 1:

Oh, thank you. Why? Did I mess up something?

00:01:35 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 3:

No, people get an opportunity to hear things that maybe they didn't hear before. And I know this firsthand because I got text messages nonstop while I was in bed, you know, with my eyelids closed. People texting me comments. And so randomly I would wake up and I would get a comment going, I'd do her, you know. And then another question was, man, that person is stupid, and you should never have them on the air again. And I'm, like, going, I don't even know it. So I had to, like, figure out what are they talking about at first and then realize they're listening to our, you know, Mojo in the Morning show, and we're on a vacation. So we took a vacation. It was good. It was nice to be off. It was nice to get some sleep. I just stayed home and did a staycation. Shannon, you actually went away, and you did your annual vacation that you do with your kids. and you were posting pictures that, I'm not going to lie to you, I got a little teary-eyed looking at your kids growing up over the years. I know. But also realizing there was a period of your life where you had really not great hairdo. Oh, my gosh. There was one period. Straight up. I'm just kidding. No, I'm just kidding.

00:02:43 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 4:

I think it was 2017.

00:02:46 - 00:02:52 | Speaker 3:

You had a bowl cut. Do you ever pull out? But it's wild because you go to the same place every single summer. We do.

00:02:52 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 1:

We go to Vail, Colorado every summer. Yes, every summer. It is crazy to look back because I always get memories served to me on social media or I just get nostalgic and go back. And I'm like, Lucy, look at when you were four years old and we went. And now I do the comparison and it's, holy crap.

00:03:12 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 4:

Please go to Cupcake Shannon because this is pretty amazing.

00:03:15 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 1:

I know. I know. Now she's just old. She's taller than you. She's way taller than me. Everybody was commenting on that. beautiful and yeah i see the hair picture i know yeah no it was so great and i actually decided i was i hate you again twice in one show i um i decided to go a day earlier than we had planned because we we flew united unfortunately you can't fly directly into vale colorado you have to like you know go to denver go to chicago and then catch a flight in anyway united had sent me a thing saying if you want to change your flight because you know you you had an earlier bad experience which Smith and I had when we went to Washington, D.C. earlier this year, there would be no change fees. And so I said to Wes, I was like, hmm, I mean, I feel like that's incentive. I have nothing going on here. Let's just go a day early. I don't think he thought I would actually pull the trigger and do it, but I did, and the hotel was available for another night. And so I thought, okay, we're just going to go a day early. As soon as I did that, I said, I always get nervous about changing travel plans because I'm so superstitious, and I feel like when you do that, something bad is going to happen.

00:04:19 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 3:

Like the plane's going to do something?

00:04:21 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I really do. I get very superstitious about that. Like you should have just went with your original plan. Final destination. Well, obviously we got there fine. Nothing happened to our plane because here I am. But Smith did have a minor medical emergency in the hours before we left that had me at the freaking hospital. And it was so random, Anna, because so we left Tuesday really, really early in the morning. he woke up monday morning and his ear was really red really swollen and it was like hot hot hot to the touch and i thought okay he got bit by something this is so random

00:05:00 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 2:

him, gave him some Benadryl, put some hydrocortisone on it, had him ice it, you know, on and off for a couple of hours. You guys, this thing grew into like Dumbo's ear. I'm talking, it looked fake coming out of the side of his head. Was it hurting him? That's the thing. He's like, it's not really hurting me. And I'm like, okay, well, you're obviously having some sort of reaction to something.

00:05:19 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 3:

Could he hear out of it? He could hear. He could. He was. Wow.

00:05:23 - 00:05:25 | Speaker 2:

He had a big ear. I mean, yeah. So I'll show you the picture.

00:05:26 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 4:

So Will Smith on Hicks.

00:05:27 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yes. Wes kept showing him the picture of that character from the Goonies. Do you know who I'm talking about? That's like all he's got the big ear. Anyway, so I'm like giving him medicine throughout the day. It finally gets to be like 7 p.m. And this thing is only getting bigger. And I'm like, we have to get we have to wake up at 4 a.m. for this flight. Like, what am I going to do? So I start to panic. I call my sister who's in the medical field. And she's like, Shannon, you need to go to the doctor. Like, what are you doing? So I try to go to a bunch of urgent cares. everything was closed I'm like I do not want to go to the hospital and sit with him like of course I'm going to be the one in the hospital right as our flight is leaving thank God I called Dr. Werner and sent him our show gynecologist who also is just magical with everything and I sent him a video and he's like you need to put this child on steroids like right this second so that's what we did and it finally like started to go down but um it was wild how big this ear was i'm like from the back of his head like there's his normal ear oh my god there's his big ear and this was during the day it just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger okay here to travel plans i kept flicking it i'm like dang it's like it was like rubber oh my god it's wild because has anybody ever had

00:06:50 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

that happened to them where they got bit by like a bug or something and then it blows up stuff? I've seen, he had to get bit by a bug.

00:06:57 - 00:07:05 | Speaker 2:

I have no idea what the heck happened because I had just gotten him the night before so I wasn't made aware of anything that had, you know, happened.

00:07:06 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 1:

Swimmer's ear?

00:07:07 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 3:

But, well, because there's always the swimmer's ear.

00:07:11 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 2:

But that's like inside your ear.

00:07:12 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, but can't you get an outer ear infection?

00:07:14 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 2:

I have no idea but like of course, you know, crap happens before we're getting ready to leave.

00:07:19 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 3:

But I've seen people like their lip their lip will blow up yeah well i've had that well yeah but you went to a person

00:07:25 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 2:

to do that though no i've never i've actually never done that that's what happens if i eat

00:07:31 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 3:

avocado what's up brian how you doing i just want to know if you could hear better could he hear

00:07:40 - 00:07:48 | Speaker 2:

that's funny i know he said like nothing was different but it was it was huge i mean i felt

00:07:48 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 3:

bad did you ask that question just out of well he hung up the phone i was gonna ask if he asked out of curiosity or just asked because maybe it happened but he making a big ear joke uh oh okay because of his his ear okay i got that one right there um i i've i've had that before where i've uh middle of the night and there's some kind of a i don't know if it's a spider or something like that yeah and then i have like a like a big old swollen spot on me and i know for sure that i had to get bit so he woke up the next morning like this or this just happened so i got him at like

00:08:25 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 2:

midnight on sunday yeah he had like a swimmy and a party and stuff and so his dad dropped him off and when he woke up in the morning like clearly something had happened you know while he was outside okay that had bitten him i guess but yeah that's man that is uh that is kind of crazy it is

00:08:42 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 3:

wild though um you know talking about uh switching plans and in doing this if you would have kept your normal plan you would have a full day to take them to the doctor and do all that stuff but it's funny when your kids you know when you're traveling and you're traveling with kids you're like i don't care that your ear is like that and honestly probably not a good thing if

00:09:06 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 2:

it's that swollen who knows right what do you think i'll have you think i'm on bus yes that's That's what my sister said. My sister's like, she made me feel so bad. She's like, why didn't you already take him in? I'm like, I'm just trying to pack everybody and get going.

00:09:20 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 1:

No, but like, you know, when you go up in the air, like your ears.

00:09:24 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 4:

To me, that never happens. They used to give gum and stuff like that. That's that's never happened before. You just got to like, like hold your breath or something, right? What's the thing?

00:09:32 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 3:

Burp or something? Yeah, to clear your ears. What's up, John? Yeah. Hey, how are you this morning? Good, buddy. What's going on? Hey, first time in a long time.

00:09:42 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 1:

Hey, John on the floor.

00:09:45 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 3:

Good morning. Yo. Good morning. Hey, Shannon, I just wanted to say it's Sloth. Sloth. From Goonies.

00:09:51 - 00:09:57 | Speaker 2:

Yes, that's exactly who. That's exactly who Wes was comparing him to and making him, like, recite all the lines from the Goonies.

00:09:58 - 00:10:00 | Unknown:

Hey, is that from...

00:10:00 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 2:

me back, brought me back to my childhood. That's a good movie. By the way, that's, that's always a good thing to do when you're, yeah, yeah. And so he's showing it to, to, uh, uh, Smith and Smith's

00:10:12 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 4:
