Back to Mojo in the Morning.

00:02:11 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 6:

Mojo in the Morning. Your home of War of the Roses. Second date update. Five lies to tell your mom. The Dirty on the 30, Throwback Throwdown, and more. So big news for Megan here, guys. Big, big news for Megan. She's about to get broken up on and she doesn't like it. But this is good news. This is actually very good news. Will you share with the audience, the listening audience, what it is that you have a major step in your development of life?

00:02:50 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 7:

My therapist is trying to break up with me. No.

00:02:55 - 00:03:19 | Speaker 8:

I know. I know. Because we like him. Oh, we love him. We're obsessed with him. We love you, too. I'm a completely different person because of him. Truly, by the way. I'm not joking. There's been such a change in you. I know. Yeah. It's weird. Your mind's breaking up with me, too. What? This is really, like, it broke my heart. We're getting healthy, Megan. No, I don't like it. Wait, is that what you're talking about?

00:03:19 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 6:

What are you talking about?

00:03:20 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, I think I should fake having more problems because I was at my therapist's office yesterday.

00:03:26 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:03:26 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 8:

And it was funny because near the end of our session, I'm like pulling out my planner because everybody makes fun of me for having a paper planner. And I'm getting ready and he goes, do you want to keep doing this? And I go, what do you mean? Of course I do. Like I got angry with him. He was like, I don't know. I just feel like we've accomplished what we set out to accomplish here and I don't I don't know if you should keep coming and I knew he was proud of me and I knew he was like happy to get to this process I almost started crying I was like I need you you cannot do this to me and he was like if you want to keep coming you can keep coming but like we've like we've hit a place how about how about instead of coming every other week we come once a month and we do check-ins with each other I was like, I guess that's okay, but, like, I don't want to leave yet. But it was so, like, heartbreaking to me to have my therapist be like, I don't need to keep seeing you.

00:04:22 - 00:04:44 | Speaker 6:

How dare my therapist make me better? Does he not understand? I haven't seen my therapist for almost eight years, and she has never tried to break up with me. So what does that say? I am a mess. Or she likes your payments. Who knows?

00:04:44 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 8:

Oh, my God. Karen, am I that big of a disaster?

00:04:50 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

This is interesting. 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Oh, they actually bleeped.

00:05:00 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 1:

put out of this version why would they not the song is called crazy bitch oh that's horrible tony get rid of that song out of our system megan wants to be the crazy b and she wants to stay she enjoys her therapist that much sometimes honestly i go to therapy to talk to my therapist dennis just about like what's going on in his life yeah i want to i want to give him therapy Well, I know every bit of his kids baseball scores. I know everything about, you know, his wife and how, you know, great a time, you know, they have going on little dinner dates and stuff. I'm giving him therapy as much as he's giving me.

00:05:39 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 4:

I have been doing this for close over a year and a half now, close to two years ish. I start. Yeah, I started like winter ish time like two years ago. And it was really funny because he was starting to break up with me. I think he was a little bit sad, too, because if you don't know this or if you haven't heard me talking about it, he's younger than me. I'm one of his first patients he's ever had. So, like, I feel like he's grown up with me just like I've grown up with him. And I was like, you can't, I don't even, like, this is so weird. I don't know anything about you. I just found out, like, two sessions ago he has a kid. Like, I know nothing about him. Like, nothing about him.

00:06:20 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, they are kind of, like, I feel like Dennis is really open with you, Mojo. You're a therapist. Yeah, yeah. My Karen, I know, like, a few things about, but she's, they're very, very private. I think they have to be, right? Yeah. They're supposed to be.

00:06:33 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 1:

They're private unless you pry. And I pry. Like, I literally, I had one of my old therapists, Tom, used to say to me, this is not about me. This is about you. Let's get to you. Because Chelsea actually says to me sometimes when I go to therapy, as often as I go, and I don't go as much anymore. I used to go every week, and then I went every other week, and then I went once a month. I stopped. Now I haven't been in the summer much.

00:06:59 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 2:

I'm going to do a little test when I see her. You should ask her. I can't go today because she had a funeral thing. I'm going to see her tomorrow. So I'm going to ask her. I'm going to say, hey, Karen, can we start to do every month? What if she says no?

00:07:11 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 1:

Can I tell you, though? You should tell her exactly this topic because I've said this to Dennis before where I've made comments to him before. Dennis has said to me, I am here for as much as you need from me. I like how your guy said, hey, I really don't think we necessarily need to do this. But Dennis actually, one time I said to him, I go, man, I feel like if I'm not coming to you. And he said therapy should never cause you to have to get therapy because trying to find time for it is always tough. Like you're always trying to find time for yourself. And so he encouraged me to exercise and to do all kinds of other stuff that sucks. I like sitting on a couch. I say to him, I go, this is actually my favorite form of exercise.

00:07:54 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 4:

I actually think what did it was, for the last couple of sessions, I didn't sit down and immediately start bawling with all of my problems. He's like, you seem to be handling yourself a little bit better.

00:08:04 - 00:08:08 | Speaker 1:

That's actually pretty, that's a big moment for you, you know what I mean?

00:08:10 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 4:

It was weird, but I walked in yesterday and he's like, how's it going? I went, fine.

00:08:15 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 3:

Wow.

00:08:15 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 4:

It is fine. Everything's fine.

00:08:17 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 2:

Although, don't you notice when you go in and you say, I don't really have anything to talk about today. And then all of a sudden, they're like, okay, we only have five minutes left.

00:08:24 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 1:

Yes, it's true. It is true. My road there, when I'm driving there, is when I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to talk about. And then I get in there, I didn't talk about anything I wanted to talk on the road there. What's up, Jennifer? Hi, it's Mojo in the Morning.

00:08:38 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 3:

Good morning, everybody.

00:08:39 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 1:

What's happening?

00:08:40 - 00:09:39 | Speaker 3:

in megan keep the once once a month check-in for sure yeah especially because you're i know you're doing good right now but what what happens like i'm thinking about like your mental health like next year when you go through all the plastic surgery yep and everything like what's gonna happen like if he cuts you off completely now you know what i mean like i just i want you to have that safety net because i kept it with my therapist for i like we were good for i did you know two years and then like where we were talking every week and then we started doing once a month after that because yeah there is like walls of like where you're doing great and then sometimes you might hit like a rock or something and you need that to jump back in So, like, you know, maybe every other week again. But, yeah, for sure, keep the wants and wants.

00:09:40 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

And I'll overshare here a little bit because I am in a much different place. And I know this is, I'm giving you guys permission, okay? This is going to be very shocking information that I know you're all going to gasp at. But I was battling depression for a really long time. You were? What?

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 1:

I'm not going to do that. Go ahead.

00:10:01 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 3:

It's the same gasp that I gave to Ben and J-Lo getting divorced.

00:10:05 - 00:10:06 | Unknown:

Exactly.

00:10:07 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 2:

Exactly. But no, I'm really glad that you said that because I said to him when he was like, I think, like, how often do you want to meet? I said, well, I'm really worried. What if something happens and I have a setback and I need somebody to talk to? And it was really great that he was immediately like, you send me an email and we put something in the books. So he's the best. I like.

00:10:27 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:10:27 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 2:

10 out of 10 would recommend therapy to people. I cannot tell you how drastically it has changed my life.

00:10:33 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 1:

Your goal of therapy is to learn coping and how to not be in therapy, but therapy is good. I get it. What's up, Savannah?

00:10:43 - 00:10:44 | Speaker 5:

Hey.

00:10:44 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 1:

What's going on?

00:10:46 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 5:

So my husband and I, we've been doing marriage counseling for like two years now. And every now and then our therapist, you know, tries to break up with us. But then my husband says something so off the wall. He's like, all right, see you next month.

00:10:59 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 1:

what can i pry a little bit here for a second what is what is the most off the wall thing he

00:11:09 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 5:

would say oh i think the last thing he said was something like oh i don't i don't have her trained

00:11:14 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 1:

well enough oh my god but i love that you guys are you guys are working on it like so many people will just jump quick to just say we're done with this and the fact that you're working on it and

00:11:28 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 5:

you're still in it you know what i mean oh yeah it was actually it was his suggestion so good for

00:11:35 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 1:

him let's do it because a lot of guys won't do it yeah i got a lot of guy friends of mine that are like i can't believe like they they think it's a sign of weakness it's not i think it's a sign of strength when you're willing to admit you know it's helped us communicate so much better you

00:11:51 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 5:

know the fight the we have two kids you know that's a it's a hard transition in life and it's

00:11:56 - 00:12:34 | Speaker 1:

helps a lot i will say i recommend it do me a favor if you've never listened to the podcast that i do with my wife if you get a chance go to the we don't instagram and send us your information i'd love one time to have an episode where we have people that are in marriage counseling on and we all share like how it's either helped us or hurt us because chelsea and i went to a marriage therapist that told us right off the bat to get a divorce oh wow yeah there was one one and one other guy that used to cause more fights for us when we left there like i i had more problems when i left than i did when i got there what's up kelly hey i was just calling

00:12:34 - 00:12:52 | Speaker 4:

about um the therapy and still going even once you're doing great yeah maintenance therapy is one of the best things because even when you're not in crisis or really depressed you can work on things that you normally wouldn't have the time to spend working on those things.

00:12:52 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Yep, that's a great point.

00:12:54 - 00:12:56 | Speaker 1:

It's kind of like getting your oil changed,

00:12:56 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 3:

right? Yeah. Every

00:12:58 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 1:

3,000, 5,000, or however many thousand miles they want you to do it on it. When my car tells me. My brain oils. Wouldn't it be great if your body just had a light that blinked and said...

00:13:08 - 00:13:11 | Speaker 3:

Mine would just be on. All the time.

00:13:12 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 1:

You'd be that car. I'd be excited

00:13:14 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 3:

when it went off for a couple of hours.

00:13:16 - 00:13:19 | Speaker 1:

I think you don't give yourself enough credit

00:13:19 - 00:13:45 | Speaker 3:

You need to give yourself more credit I agree with you In fact, Karen, my therapist Who looks like Violet Bridgerton, by the way If you watch Bridgerton, you know exactly what I'm talking about But she We were just talking about this the week before last About I feel like From the time, because I started to see her When I was kind of like quietly Having issues in my marriage My first marriage I feel like I have come such a long way

00:13:45 - 00:14:06 | Speaker 1:

from from that i think sometimes you got to look at that like you got to look at every it's weird it's like looking at before and after pictures yeah of uh of yourself when you're you know working out or dieting or whatever it is you almost got to look at like where you've come yeah i look for saying that by the way but i well you know what you're still crazy but that's okay

00:14:06 - 00:14:10 | Speaker 3:

we're all crazy i'm a little less crazy i know how to manage my crazy a lot better i know

00:14:11 - 00:14:12 | Speaker 1:

I think that's good.

00:14:12 - 00:14:12 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:14:12 - 00:14:20 | Speaker 1:

I really do. You know the weirdest thing? People don't understand this. They probably don't. Shannon and I go to the same office building but not the same therapist.

00:14:20 - 00:14:20 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:14:21 - 00:14:26 | Speaker 1:

Yep. But we have never crossed paths at all in all the years. How weird is that? I know.

00:14:26 - 00:14:28 | Speaker 2:

I would hate if I ran into one of you at my sentence.

00:14:28 - 00:14:38 | Speaker 1:

And the weirdest thing was that Chelsea and I went to, our marriage therapist was the same marriage therapist that you guys went to, that you went with your first.

00:14:38 - 00:14:39 | Speaker 2:

Yes.

00:14:40 - 00:14:40 | Speaker 1:

Yep.

00:14:40 - 00:14:46 | Speaker 3:

that's wild yeah it worked for one not for the other is that not yeah i mean for real it's supposed

00:14:46 - 00:15:02 | Speaker 1:

to show it is weird how you know it's like how that that happens but a lot of times i've turned my therapist on to so many people yeah and people think that that's weird that i do that is it but i i know that he works You

00:15:00 - 00:15:07 | Speaker 9:

really amazingly with men and especially young men so i always turn my friends sons on to them

00:15:07 - 00:15:13 | Speaker 1:

and my and karen is very like faith-based so i know if somebody you know has if that is important

00:15:13 - 00:15:20 | Speaker 9:

to them i always recommend her uh la shonda what's up la shonda hey how are you good what's going on

00:15:20 - 00:15:24 | Speaker 8:

um well first i'm a first time long time hey

00:15:24 - 00:15:34 | Speaker 9:

la shonda la shonda he didn't catch the name good job zach kev's out by the way for those

00:15:34 - 00:15:48 | Speaker 8:

that are wondering go ahead yeah i'm a therapist and um ethically we're bound to keep our personal information to ourselves because uh the session's about you and um your changes so we're not really

00:15:48 - 00:15:59 | Speaker 9:

supposed to talk about ourselves too much you don't do phone therapy do you because your phone's got a click on it right now it's making me crazy oh i'm sorry can i ask you a question though

00:15:59 - 00:16:29 | Speaker 7:

yeah okay two things number one i'm still trying to find out if i'm my therapist's favorite patient what's the best way to do that number two truly i understand that there are ethical boundaries and i never want to cross any lines what is a way to thank a therapist like i is a letter okay i don't I feel like a gift would be inappropriate. Like, I don't know what to do to be like, thank you for changing my life. Yeah.

00:16:29 - 00:16:37 | Speaker 8:

We're not allowed to accept gifts either. Ethically, the letter would be really nice. I sometimes write my client's card.

00:16:38 - 00:16:40 | Speaker 9:

How about a Yelp review?

00:16:41 - 00:16:42 | Speaker 7:

That'd be good, too.

00:16:43 - 00:16:44 | Speaker 9:

Do they do Yelp reviews?

00:16:44 - 00:16:46 | Speaker 7:

How do I find out I'm the favorite?

00:16:46 - 00:16:59 | Speaker 9:

What about, like, for your school teacher? You know, remember your teacher? You'd always give them an end of the year or Christmas time gift. Give them like a gift card to the teacher's store, the therapy store. Do they have that?

00:17:00 - 00:17:06 | Speaker 3:

All right, everybody. Sit your happy asses down at the table. Eat and be happy. This is Mojo in the Morning.

00:17:07 - 00:17:37 | Speaker 4:
