good morning welcome to the mojo in the morning show it's good to have you guys here with us today coming up this morning, War of the Roses. And this morning's War of the Roses, the time that this thing aired on our show was so long ago that it actually almost got War of the Roses completely canceled for good. And this was before anybody was doing canceling stupid stuff like that and it was for good reason there was legal purposes so it has never ever re-aired on the mojo in the morning show this morning we will and we will give you an update so make sure that you're listening to the show coming up at seven o'clock this morning i was talking with tony travato our big boss our operations manager guy and uh when we got the official go-ahead that It was okay, because this one has been in the archives for a long time, and I'm like, Tony, we've got to be able to play this thing again. He said, oh, good, okay, play it over your Christmas break when you guys are gone. I'm like, no, I want to play it. I want to play it and talk about it, because it's too good to not do that. And normally when we're on vacation, you just hear us do our replays and stuff, and this is one of those ones where I think that it's going to be worthwhile to actually have conversation about. So you'll hear that coming up. I had to go to therapy, unfortunately, so I missed my favorite game.

I needed therapy from doing this. It was so much fun. Actually, I got out of doing it, and I thank Dorothy, our good friend, Dorothy Maxwell here, who Dorothy is the nicest lady ever. She is our traffic director. She celebrated her 20th anniversary with the company. Oh, get out of here. Amazing. Just celebrated it this past week. And what did we get for her for her 20th anniversary? We got her a spot in the Saran Rap Contest yesterday.

I mean, that is big.

To be fair, Mojo, you say you got out of it, but you actually helped start the party because nobody wanted to get up and do karaoke, and you and producer KP got up there to break the ice and be the first ones to sing. We did. And I heard you say... Maybe it's cold outside.

I heard you... Your intro to the song was very good, by the way. Did you like? Because you said this song is no longer appropriate.

Yes. I saw a guy post. I saw a guy post about how Baby It's Cold Outside was canceled last year, the same year that the song WAP was the number one song on the radio.

It's true.

Made no sense at all, right? That they're canceling a song called Baby It's Cold Outside about a guy asking a girl to come in, but WAP is...

WAP is female empowerment.

Yeah. I don't know. I was listening to some of the lyrics when we were going through it, but yeah, it was actually kind of fun. I don't know. So, you know, I, I, I tried to normally I don't ever like enjoy going to these office things, but I tried to put myself in the mindset of, all right, normally if we had this thing at like a big, nice restaurant or at a big ballroom, I'd complain about the fact that I had to like go out at night and do it. And my wife gave me the perspective of, you're always a curmudgeon. You're always the negative, you know, you got to be positive. so I tried to like just sit back and enjoy and I actually kind of did I actually kind of really enjoyed us being there and being part of this whole thing

Shannon, you also missed, you had to leave, and you missed Colleen passing out the Christmas bonus.

I didn't actually get it, but I was here. I had to finish up a few things before I ran out.

It wasn't at all awkward that we complained about Christmas bonuses right before we went out there.

And she made sure to mention that as well.

Do you know what she did for me, which I thought was very sweet, and Chelsea thought it was, too? She knew that I wouldn't wear merch because they did Kroger gift cards, but they also gave us this iHeart merch, which I like the iHeart logo a lot. So she goes, do me a favor. Don't grab one for yourself. Grab one for your wife. I grabbed one for Chelsea. Chelsea was very excited about it. All right, so that was our holiday party. Mike, I understand that you were with us all day in Detroit yesterday because you were granting Christmas wishes, And then we had a whole bunch of other stuff that we were doing after the show. But I understand that you guys had your own office holiday party and something crazy happened that you missed. Yeah. So apparently during our office Christmas party here yesterday, they had this big stop in the party.

It was like right in the beginning, and they got everybody quiet, and they said, all right, we want to make this huge announcement. I apparently won some kind of award, and they were going to surprise me with it right then, but I wasn't there to accept it, so they just brought the plaque up. They didn't call me. They didn't tell me. I still had no idea, even like yesterday afternoon, and then celebrated the entire thing without me. Oh, my God. That's what he told me. Yeah. What did you win? Yeah. So apparently the agency that works through Kia of Grand Rapids North and other Kias here in the country, they do a media personality award. So whoever they think represents them the best in the entire country. And I won personality of the year award.

That is awesome.

Yeah, yeah. Wow. Yeah. Yeah, I had no idea. So I got this big plaque, and honestly, if some, like, you know, guy who's, like, the lowly guy on the morning show can win that award, imagine if you got Mojo, Spike, and Shannon on your product. Well, wait, no, no, think about this.

Well, Mike's been doing Kia a lot longer, too, so I kind of just got my car this year, but I'm going to take it from here.

Did they give you, like, gas cards or anything else or just a plaque?

I have no idea because I wasn't here to accept it.

But that's the funniest part to me is, like, obviously people in the sales department knew this was happening. Nobody bothered to see if you were going to be there to accept it.

No, I got a call after the party. I said, hey, where are you at? And I'm like, I'm on my way back from Detroit. I thought it was Kate Ardell. I thought it was going to be like, hey, I need a spot or something.

If Kate listened in the morning, she would know where you were at.

Right.

You know what's funny is I often have watched Ward shows, and I thought to myself, why is it Taylor Swift's never showing up at the American Music Awards and it says, Taylor's not here right now we'll accept this award for her. That's what they had to do for you yesterday. Yeah, I guess so

and there's a plaque, there's, I guess Tim got me something too for it but nobody, you could have even called me during the announcement of the award, like anybody. Right. My boss is, even the PD of SNX was there. Somebody knew where I was at and nobody

called. Oh Mike but congratulations on winning the award. Well thanks, I guess, yeah.

No I walked out of the studio And he was just standing there Just not doing anything And so I screamed and I go What the heck are you doing here this early? He had to take his wife to the airport For a 6am flight And so he's like I just I came right to work instead of going all the way home And coming back So he is like, I'm going to go in my office and just try to sleep for a couple of hours.

Sean kind of does this creepy hovering thing sometimes. That's what he was doing. He does this thing where he'll, like, I'll be in the studio working in equipment and stuff. And, you know, the door opens. You guys come in and out all the time. So I don't really kind of pay attention and look up. And the next thing I know, I look over and it's like, ah, ah. He's, like, hovering right over the top of me. And I'm like, oh, hey. But he doesn't want to interrupt at all. He's, like, too nice to, like, say, hey, can I ask, whatever, one of those things.

He's done that and surprised me when I'm recording phone scams in here after the show. And then I realized his move. He's just sniffing around to see if we have any free food left. He's hovering to see, like, any boxes in here?

I never thought about that. Well, you know what? We all have at some time in our lives slept at the radio station, so you got to do that.
