I'm Mange Shachikular, and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:01:24 - 00:01:30 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:01:30 - 00:01:36 | Speaker 4:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

For years, the Unhoused has been presented as a monolith in mainstream media. Weedie Unhoused is a podcast that's changing the narrative. I'm Theo Henderson, and I created the show while I was Unhoused on the streets of Los Angeles. We've grown into a two-time Webby Award winning podcast. The only podcast that shares unhoused stories and news from the unhoused perspective. Listen to We The Unhoused on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:02:25 - 00:02:35 | Speaker 6:

Rock, it's red glare. You're not being logical is what I'm saying. This is like an orgasm in a cup.

00:02:40 - 00:03:25 | Unknown:

Showtime. We'll be right back.

00:03:25 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

Good morning. Welcome to the Mojo in the Morning show. Good to be here. Good to be back in the studio with you guys today. It was wild travel yesterday. I barely made the flight that I was on. but uh it was one of those things where i i realized okay if i don't make it what's the options i can stay back in florida for one more day but uh got on the uh the flight and the interesting thing is you know how people are like when they think that they're going to be sitting by themselves or they're going to have an empty seat right by them they see you yeah roll up in the aisle it was Luke and I because Chelsea stayed back and uh this lady just kind of gave us a look like oh they have to show up it's kind of like how I am when I go to a sporting event like you know if I go to like a well although you go to a Pistons game you pretty much sit by yourself but if you go to a if you go to like a game say you're going to go to like a Lions game and there's open seats and I don't have that open seat like I always like move down like I move up a roll you know so I can I can spread my thighs out you know I want to get my thighs a little air in there yeah I'm like that at movies oh and movies well movies now you can't do it because of I always go to the Imagine Theater and you have assigned seats so I know I'm saying it is nice

00:04:59 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

though when you

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 1:

have when you don't have anybody next to you but they have a coat and your purse there oh okay yeah

00:05:03 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 3:

because they have those big juicy seats that are so good that you just want to like just sink right into but but when i'm at a game i've had this happen before first off tell me this okay and mike you're a huge lions fan so i went to a lions game a couple of weeks ago and was there for three quarters of the game completely fine nobody sitting to the right or to the left of us so we spread out third quarter they finally show up you can't show up in the third quarter they showed up they didn't move down from cheap seats no they showed no because they they had their tickets they should they actually pulled their ticket out or they're on their phone they had their their phone thing they're like oh look at this okay and i'm like it's the third and i didn't say anything i sat there the whole time salty and i i did i did the whole arms folded like this oh yeah you know like angry man pose so i had my arms folded like this and i look over at luke and i kind of turn to him and go third quarter not passive aggressive at all oh yeah

00:06:06 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 1:

i've done that before though where i've gone to like a tigers game until it's this like the second or third period of the wings game and i want to get over there for the end so i've done two games in one and sometimes overlap a little bit oh the only other thing i could think of is there's so

00:06:21 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 2:

much to do at fort field is that they could have been walking around the whole time and then went

00:06:27 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 3:

to their seat but that's a long time to do it for but the the you know or they maybe they i don't know maybe they were sitting somewhere else they said sat somewhere better and they got kicked out like you're talking about like them you know had to go to their seats but third quarter i was i sat there the whole time going oh this is going to be awful and then we ended up leaving a little bit early so we ended up leaving like you know just after the fourth quarter started and as i and i'm i luke's like getting up to go out the other way the other aisle because that was the shorter version i go no we're going this way excuse me guys can you move excuse me i know you just got here but excuse me third quarter guys can you move i don't know i get i get uh salty sometimes with that but this lady looked a little salty when we got in there late so we got back into town um and uh had had no food at home because every every bit of food was done because we were gone for like i think 10 days so last night look i opened up it's funny i don't even know why i open up the refrigerator i open up the refrigerator and it's nothing but condiments inside there it's you know ketchup and mustard and mayonnaise and then there's like a expired yogurt and all that stuff and i'm like man it's doordash buffalo wild wings or whatever i actually did lulu lulus and then uh luke did buffalo wild wings but back slept in the bed it was so good last night it was good to come into the studio this morning the girls at the cabot starbucks said where have you been they actually missed me i bet isn't that wild you're probably their first customer of the day i was i was sitting in the i was sitting in the lot at uh at five or at I was listening to the end of the KP show, and I was listening to Rihanna and that song Stay, and I was like loving it. And I'm waiting a little bit back at the drive-thru, and then all of a sudden I see the lights turn on. It was like the coolest moment ever. I got to see the lights shift over at the Starbucks.

00:08:27 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 2:

Does that one open at 5 or 5.30?

00:08:28 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 3:

It's a 5 a.m.

00:08:30 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 2:

Okay.

00:08:30 - 00:09:12 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, so it popped open at 5 a.m., got my cold brew and my egg white bites, and I'm all ready to go. Good to be here. wore the roses this morning i want you guys to stick around for this one because she's pregnant and she thinks that he's cheating you have to hear our phone call that we made and what he uh what he did with the roses that's happening just after seven o'clock phone scams on the way this hour next hour and of course nine o'clock hour taylor swift tickets this hour nine o'clock hour pink tickets next hour there's a lot of stuff so mike uh you know what's funny is that i know that you do like shifts on other sister stations but i did not realize that you're still working on that

00:09:12 - 00:09:46 | Speaker 2:

oldie station yeah i think it started as like a a side project for the company and then it's not doing like amazing but it's doing well i guess so i work for an oldie station in west michigan called 101 three big and it's like i said it's not doing anything crazy what kind of music they play what's the what are the artists that are on there uh i just looked at the log for them it is Eric Clapton, Journey, and Queen. Wow. Do you know that music? Yeah. It used to be music like my dad listened to in the garage. We would always have a radio on, and it was always like this right here. But you don't say that, though, do you, on the air? No.

00:09:46 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 3:

Because it would make all the old listeners feel old.

00:09:48 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 2:

No, no, I don't say that, but I'm just me. I don't know. I don't change who I am on the air. Yeah. I did not know you were on an oldie station. Yeah, yeah. I don't change my voice. I don't do anything different. I don't have a different name.

00:10:00 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 4:

name even it's just mike so you do the same yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah over there uh well or well yeah i mean yeah i do well yeah i do and it's the only station other than uh i guess a couple times here and there actually we get voice notes for mojo in the morning but we don't get voice notes for on the talkback mic for the i heart radio app you can send those voice notes we don't get those for other than song requests for other stations but for this station i specifically get voice notes and it's always from one guy and he's very angry that i'm on that station he does not his name's doug i can't even see where he's from he's from uh comstock park doug from comstock park does not like that i do an afternoon shift on that station and every week even on vacation it's like this guy needs to go he's gotta go i don't like him he doesn't fit the station there's a there's a voice note i think i sent it to you yeah so so like by the way if you listen

00:10:53 - 00:10:57 | Speaker 7:

on the iheart app there's a little red microphone button that's a voice you could just send a note

00:10:57 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 5:

what is it called by the way that thing's not called voice no right it's called talk back

00:11:00 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 7:

you can you can actually just talk to the person that's on the air at the time and leave a message for them and it's nice because even if you're listening in some weird remote location you don't want to stop your stream of to make a phone call you want to keep listening you just do it right

00:11:14 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 5:

there on the app you don't want to stop your stream you want to complain you just go right

00:11:18 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 7:

to that but typically people are doing it to say hey can you play doja cat they're not doing it to tell you I hate you I hope you die on the way home from work we played

00:11:28 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 4:

a little bit of it during the podcast, the Slightly Messy Show podcast yesterday, and you could hear in the background his TV super loud, like every old guy staring at times we were trying to figure out what was playing

00:11:42 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 5:

we got a game, I'm turning it up really loud, here we go

00:11:46 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 1:

hey this is Doug I think you should replace Mike with Eric Eric fits the programming Mike sounds like a little kid Playing oldies Yeah, that's true Yeah, I'm old That's why I'm listening But I listen to Eric on the weekends But not Mike during the week Thank you Go get him, Eric Wow

00:12:14 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 3:

Go get him, Eric

00:12:15 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 5:

Alright, hold on I think I kind of got an idea Hold on a second, hold on Little kid playing oldies

00:12:21 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm old

00:12:26 - 00:12:33 | Speaker 6:

That's why I'm listening But I listen to Eric on the weekends I think he's got like Fox News or something Thank you

00:12:33 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 3:

Oh, that's so great

00:12:35 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 6:

Go get him, Eric

00:12:36 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 3:

Go get him, Eric It's probably like Eric's uncle Isn't it funny?

00:12:42 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 5:

Mike sounds like a kid playing music

00:12:45 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 3:

He's not wrong Look at

00:12:48 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 5:

Can I hear some of your breaks at all? Do you have any breaks that are, like, an air check or something? Let me see if I can play it from this end. Yeah.

00:12:58 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 7:

Like, I've had bad service at places, and, yeah, maybe I'll never go there again or something. I've never, like, thought to, like, let me call the company and tell them to fire that person.

00:13:10 - 00:13:14 | Speaker 5:

Wait, what's the frequency? I know it's big, but what is it?

00:13:14 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 4:

101.3.

00:13:15 - 00:13:21 | Speaker 5:

101.3, big. What's their slogan? The fun hits, you know. Yeah, I think I can play it with them.

00:13:21 - 00:13:22 | Speaker 3:

The fun hits, you know.

00:13:23 - 00:13:25 | Speaker 5:

Did you hear this? All right, hold on. Yeah.

00:13:26 - 00:13:35 | Speaker 4:

It's a new big 101.3 fun hits. You know, if somebody buys you a lottery ticket and you win big, do you have to give them some of the money? Like if it's like a Christmas present?

00:13:36 - 00:13:43 | Speaker 2:

Heck no. Yes. You don't hear a gift that someone gives you just because they bought it? Thank you. The same rules apply to the lottery. They know the risk they were taking.

00:13:45 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I agree with you 110%. I ain't giving anybody. Maybe $10 is like a tip. No.

00:13:51 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 5:

By the way, I kind of like it, but I think your delivery is too upbeat and fast. I think you've got to slow down for the old people. I've got to be angry?

00:13:58 - 00:14:03 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, they don't like the fast talkers. You're reminding them of ordering at Starbucks, and they don't understand what anybody's saying.

00:14:04 - 00:14:22 | Speaker 5:

Huh? What is it? It's large, medium, extra large. Not venti and grande. What is this? By the way, I think that what you need to do is you need to sound almost kind of like, you know how you sound like when you're stoned? You almost kind of got to pull back a little bit Because your energy is top 40 energy

00:14:22 - 00:14:33 | Speaker 7:

I have an idea, Mike Put a picture of your grandparents on the board So look at it when you're talking And just be like We have your Neil Diamond song coming up In just a second, Grandpa

00:14:33 - 00:14:44 | Speaker 5:

By the way, I used to have a program director That told me that I sounded too much like a DJ And I wasn't talking to somebody And they told me to do exactly that They said put a picture of your girlfriend right there I didn't have a girlfriend

00:14:44 - 00:14:47 | Speaker 3:

It was my sister Pat

00:14:47 - 00:14:55 | Speaker 6:

I want to listen to this guy one more time This guy I think you should replace Mike With Eric

00:14:55 - 00:15:00 | Speaker 1:

Eric fits the programming Mike sounds like

00:15:00 - 00:15:09 | Speaker 6:

a little kid playing oldies i wonder this is my favorite part yeah i'm old i listen to eric on

00:15:09 - 00:15:44 | Speaker 7:

the weekends i love that go get him eric yeah i'm old when they asked me to do it i was like you sure you you sure you want me to do an oldie stage they said yeah that we play like michigan state and and uh the lions you know every you know every game or whatever i'm like oh that's kind of cool i like that i was like but you sure you want me to talk over like journey Like, you've listened to the other shows I'm on, right? By the way, who is Eric? Eric Zane. Oh, Eric Zane. How old is he? Yeah. He's older than me. He used to be on, can I say this? Yeah. He used to be on Free Beer and Hot Wings. Yeah, I remember Eric Zane.

00:15:44 - 00:15:49 | Speaker 3:

So is he, like, 40s, 50s, 70s? Yeah, yeah, yeah, 40s, 50s. Oh, okay. All right. I don't know.

00:15:49 - 00:16:20 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, I think he's kind of, like, late 40s or something like that. But, yeah. Go get him, Eric. Yeah. Go get him, Eric. They've taken over cities before. But this July, they're bringing the X Games League Championship home to New Orleans. July 24th through 26th at the Superdome. Over 100 elite athletes competing for the first ever league title. Plus, Metro Boomin, JID, Subtronics, and Bunt performing live. New Orleans doesn't just host the moment. New Orleans is the moment.
