is amazing oh my god this place was so good and then we sat next to these uh two very uh attractive people and i'll bring this topic up one more time so i mentioned earlier this morning how it was snowing really bad on friday and the weather was horrible and if you live anywhere i i'm assuming within our listening area it was like this but oakland county specifically and then all the way downtown i drove to the pistons game and felt like i was sliding off the road but these two were telling us how they walked to the restaurant and they started off at in birmingham for those who don't know is kind of like a town where there's a whole bunch of restaurants and businesses and bars and a lot of people will walk from restaurant to restaurant there but in the winter time you're walking down a hill coming down and they were talking and they were dressed like you know in outfits crazy outfits and so they said that they were walking down and they almost slid all the way down yeah and they were going to take an uber but can you call an uber to drive you like two blocks oh yeah heck yeah they would take you two blocks yeah so they were talking about how they were going to go walk back to where they came from and how they were sliding around

To Lithuania.

They were going to drive, yeah, back to Lithuania. But it brought up an interesting thing. If you see somebody walking down the street, like if you see two women walking down the street, as a guy, would it be generous? if you pulled over and said hey I'll give you a ride to where you're going in the middle of a snowstorm because if it's raining outside and you see somebody walking on the side of the road I feel like I would want somebody to stop and say are you okay or can I help you out or do you look like you're a freak by doing that like does it look bad

but wait a second didn't didn't you talk to them inside the restaurant

yeah we talked to them in the restaurant so they said that they walked all the way down and then they were going to leave and go walk all the way back. They were going to walk because they didn't think they could get an Uber back.

Did they ask you to drive them?

No, they didn't ask at all, but they did say that they noticed.

They were inadvertently trying to ask you guys for a ride home.

I don't know. I don't think so. I don't necessarily think so. But they did say that people were driving by them as they were walking down the street and nobody was stopping as they were falling and stuff like that.

You know the people that stop want to murder you, right? i i feel bad saying this but i wouldn't have stopped no i would not have stopped but i

whether it was guys or girls no if you saw a mother and children walking and it was bad weather it was either raining thundering or snowing that's your options snow you'd say no way you can deal

Chelsea and I were in Chicago and we asked the driver to take us to a place we not did not know where it was somebody said hey you know uh you know you should try this place i can't remember what the hell the name was i don't think it's there anymore and we took it from the hotel and the the it was a cab and the cab driver said you got to get out i'm not giving you a ride that short they actually said to us because it's not like i think an uber situation where uber probably has like a set fee yeah the cab driver just puts it on there it says on the you know you got two people in the car it starts at a dollar fifty or whatever the heck it is or however much it is i haven't been in a cabin a long time i just do nothing but ubers or lifts but they're like no that's too short and we had to get out money we didn't realize how close it was though stacy what's up how you doing hey guys how are you good morning good morning what's going on hold on stop for a second stop for a second state we had to pick up stacy and she said oh spit but nobody caught that one right off the bat okay stacy we're we're talking about you know taking short ubers or when you're stuck walking in bad weather what's

up so i was driving around like a shopping complex one time and i saw this lady kind of hiding in a corner with her child it was probably like three or four they were in a one shaded spot because it was like 95 degrees out and I pulled up to her and I said I was like can I please give you a ride and she just looked at me and said I have a car seat in the back it's my son you know put your son in there I said just please let me take you wherever you need to go and she goes well I have to go like 20 minutes away I said I said no just get in my car I promise you I identified myself completely but she just looked at me I said you can trust me I promise so I took her wherever she needed to go and she kept trying to pay me and kept trying to pay me I just I felt so bad for her and she was sweating her baby was sweating you know i don't think everybody is out to get you yeah you know it's too bad to trust people sometimes not everybody's out to get you but if one is you're screwed you're got it what she didn't know is i also have a cpl and i was Carrie. He was ready. He was ready.

That's a little different. No mess with her, man. She's ready.

Well, I picked up some hitchhikers in my day. One of the times was when I was climbing down. There were some hot guys carrying a 30-pack, so we pulled over and we let them in. So you did not.

Hi, Mojo. I did want to comment. I did pick up a mother and daughter. I'm actually Ubering now. And it was probably like 22 degrees outside, and I picked up her, her child, and her nose was running, and I took them probably a good 30 minutes away. Oh, you're sweet.

so you pulled over. And my baby in the car, so I was super nervous, because I had my toddler at the time, and I was like, but her nose is running, I have to. Two days later, I ended up buying the little girl a whole coat and scarf and hat, because she didn't have anything to us. Dominique, you know what you are, seriously?

You're a good person with a good heart. You're going right to heaven. We're all going to hell, you're going to heaven. Be the church. That is sweet to do that. And you're okay with that? Like, what kind of money do you make off of that?

Because you don't make nothing. You don't make anything. And I was just telling Lydia, I was like, I picked somebody up the other day and took them home. And they got out and fell on the ice. Oh, jeez. I had to help them in because they just fell. They were just laying there. I was like, you okay? And they don't say nothing. So I got out and kind of picked them up and walked them in the house. Yeah, it was just icy the other day.

Okay, but now am I crazy? Because I feel like everybody, well, I shouldn't say everybody. I tip $5 minimum for an Uber ride. So I'm giving you a short ride. Wouldn't you want $5 just for the block or two?

You don't get $5. People think that. If you do a regular ride, you might get $3.

But if I say $5 in the app, you don't get $5?

No.

Wait. You can tip ahead of time on the app?

No, you can tip after on the app right after. You get the tip. You can get the tip, but the drive, you only get a certain amount. Okay. If it's a short ride, you only get paid that short distance.

You should tell them what you're going to tip them right off the bat, and you might get better service. Okay, wait.

So confirm that again, Marvin. So 100% of the tip that we leave goes to you if it's Uber or Lyft?

Yes.

Okay.

Wow. But the thing is, too, is you can drive four or five minutes to do a one-minute ride or it can be longer, so you don't never know. They'll just chime you. It's up to you to accept it, but that's how it works.

Marvin, listen to the DJs. DJ, you took a guy how short of a distance?

It was not even a mile. It was like maybe .4. It was B-Dubs in Royal Oak on Main Street. I took it to that hotel just on the other side of the movie theater.

I got $3. I got $3 from Uber. I took it reluctantly, but he gave me a $100 tip because he was like, look, man, I really didn't want to have to walk, and I know this was out of your way, so I really appreciate it. And I was like, you know what, man? You call me every time.

Was it bad weather?

Yeah, it was raining. It wasn't snowing. It was raining really bad.

That's a guy, man. At that point right there, I'd be like, listen, buddy, you're going to either spend it on me or spend it on the strip club or something. That's a lot of money. Call me every time. My name is Natarika Terry LaMille, and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently, even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school, but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them.
